Glen Allan Hi,

The offer looks really good, I wanted to enquire as to the installation limitations.

How many installations do you get, I have a laptop and desktop, would I have to purchase 2 windows licenses to install on 2 devices?

Christopher User I have been actively looking for a replacement to Quicken but online banking is a must for me. Be aware that this does NOT, according to their website ( http://moneywizapp.com/buy/ ), come with the online banking feature. The online banking feature costs $4.99 a month. Well, for a $1.00 more you can use their subscription based service that has more features such as always-latest version. Also, forget about testing a trial... The trial does not allow for you to test online banking to confirm your account even works before you buy/subscribe. It states you need a subscription to even test. It's a shame, this looks like a good option for me, but not being able to try the online features before subscribing is a deal breaker for me.

Glen Allan I now noticed that, but I must admit that the application is very limited if it does not allow online banking, it does through seem to allow synchronization across multiple devices and importing online bank statements. So this seems like a workaround to me that might be ok.

Jun 18 2016 at 6:23am Copy Link

0

Iliya User @Glen - you get the default number of 3 computers. So if you have a laptop and a desktop, you are good with one license.
As for the Online Banking - you can subscribe and if it doesn't work for you just request a refund within 90 days.

Christopher User @lliya: I see your 90 day refund details. Thank you for point that out.

A question on tracking. Can you assign two categories to a singular transaction? For instance I always track Sales Tax separate from the actual expense. So if I went to the store and bought a coke, I would split the category between a grocery and sales tax. Is this possible?

Shadowlord "You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards." - So, I can't reinstall the software in the future if I have to format my hard disk and reinstall Windows? Is this correct?

Jun 18 2016 at 1:01pm Copy Link

0

Constantin Florea @Thomas Zick, For normally discounted promotions we use the same license policy the vendor uses on his own site to sell the product. I assume you can register and re-register the product any time you want to as is the case for most paid products however I have just contacted the vendor to help clear this issue for this product.

DH007 Would it be possible to include in the program something like https://ar.al/3744/ for import of old HSBC statements. There is no easy possibility to download old statement for HSBC and your aggregators do not pick them up.

Jun 19 2016 at 4:41am Copy Link

0

Iliya User @DH007 - MoneyWiz already supports CSV import (even from clipboard, as illustrated in the article you referred to). Here's how:
http://support.moneywizap...plications-

SILVERWIZ LLC - Jun 19 2016 at 8:16am Copy Link

DH007 I understand but HSBC is a real pain. There is no possibility to download OLD tranactions in any normal format (Quicken, csv etc) but you can view them on screen and those really old download as pdf only. So I can only work prospectively with the program but I cannot download in normal way anything in retroscpect that would be older than for example than October last year.

Jun 19 2016 at 8:20am Copy Link

0

Iliya User Ohhh...hm. I am not sure what to advise you in this case. We can't parse PDF files unfortunately. Other than re-entering them manually or just not having these transactions at all in MoneyWiz, the only other thing that comes to mind is to try copy/pasting the PDF text into a spreadsheet and try formatting it in a way that you can export it to a CSV file after that.

DH007 1) Therefore I sent you a link for a script that somehow works though as dependent on Flash should be upgraded.
2) Is it possible to print the content of each separate accounts to Word or pdf? For example cashflow report is not bad but I cannot print it out. I saw I could save locally but I cannot find the location. Moreover the program does not allow to select where to save. Could it be adressed?

CFGuy I admit to buying a license for this program without a lot of detailed research on their website. The price was very good, and the EULA (Fine Print) seemed very fair. Like poster above, I was disappointed to learn that the use of "online banking" is only available with additional fees (bummer), and I have to tell the developer that I didn't like finding this out immediately after I purchased the license (by way of an additional offer for more money), however I am still hoping that the program has some good benefits and features to offer. And thank goodness this offer is NOT one of those where the program must be installed and activated during the BDJ offer period - personally I think that option should not even be available to software publishers/vendors who sell here on BDJ, because to me it is such a "consumer un-friendly", limiting option (so thank you for addressing this issue, here on the conversation board, and clearing it up.
My one question for the software publisher, is what features does this program offer (besides a lower purchase price) that mainstream financial programs like "Quicken" do not? I would be very interested to hear about them, and then determine how this program would be best beneficial for my own use. Thanks. -CFguy

richard User How do I buy MoneyWiz Premium? Do I buy this offer and then add the yearly $59.99 or monthly $5.99 subscription?

Jun 19 2016 at 6:45pm Copy Link

0

Iliya User @DH007 - Yes, you can print each account's transactions. Just go to Reports, select the Cashflow report for example, select the account you want to print. Once the report is generated you can export it to a CSV or PDF.

@CFGuy - There are several noticable things that make MoneyWiz better:
1) Better online banking. Unlike Quicken which uses Intuit's own aggregation service, we use industrry leader Yodlee AND one more provider - SaltEdge. That allows us to provide more banks support than anyone else. We also do automatic categorization in a much smarter way than anyone else. MoneyWiz learns your behavior and adjusts future categorizations based on previous patterns it saw.
2) It's fully functional on each platform. You can't get fully functional Quicken on iOS or Android. You can get fully functional MoneyWiz though and the sync works beautifully.
3) Better support, more updates.
4) MoneyWiz is better fit to handle multi-currency/international accounts. Quicken is tailored towards the US market mostly, while MoneyWiz works in many other countries and is customized for their banking specifics (and of course it works for the US too :))
@Richard - We offer MoneyWiz as a pay-once model or a subscription model. This offer is for the pay-once version. The downsides of the pay-once version are that you pay separately for each platform (iOS, Mac, Android and Windows) and if you intend to use Online Banking it's paid separately at $4.99/month or $49.99/year.

You need to hook your actual Trial download to the link on this page marked 'Download Trial', as that's what readers here will click, otherwise they will find they are just wasting their time with a non-functional download, Uninstall, and Delete, and never look back.

Daniel Gaudet I just purchased the windows version of this promotion and I wanted to confirm that it included the upgrade to version 3.x that will be coming out this year.

The fine print is not 100% clear to me. It seems to say that upgrades will be free until the next version (i.e. 3.x), but not subsequent versions (i.e. 4.x).

Iliya User Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your purchase. The only way to get free MoneyWiz 3 upgrade is to purchase MoneyWiz Premium (the subscription based MoneyWiz which you can download on all platforms including Windows). Since this promo @bitsdujour is for MoneyWiz for Windows (purchase based version), not MoneyWiz Premium (subscription based version), the upgrade to MoneyWiz 3 will not be free, but it also won't be required...i.e. you can continue to use MoneyWiz 2 if you prefer not to upgrade to MoneyWiz 3.

If you want to switch to MoneyWiz Premium please email our support and they will refund your existing purchase so you can get MoneyWiz Premium.

Stefan Hauber On your homepage v3 is advertised. So is this purchase for v3 or is v3 free for today's buyers, when it is published?

If a user has e.g. some gold, can he see it's (daily changing) worth?

Does the software work with german banking institues, like Commerzbank or DKB?

Jul 31 2018 at 4:20am Copy Link

0

Iliya User Hi Stefan,

This promo is for MoneyWiz 2, and does not give free access to MoneyWiz 3, hence the low price... MoneyWiz 3 is currently available for subscribers only and non-subscription version will begin to sell in December this year, but even then upgrading from MoneyWiz 2 to MoneyWiz 3 will be optional but paid.

You can track investments as for automatic retrieval of the price - check Yahoo Finance, if they support it - we support it, as we download the investment prices from there.

Commerzbank and DKB are supported (as well as many other german banks), but have in mind that online banking (connecting to your bank) requires a subscription.

Ken Gado How much will it cost to upgrade from v2 to v3? Doesn't make much sense from an user standpoint to purchase a retired piece of software.

Jul 31 2018 at 12:42pm Copy Link

1

Iliya User @Ken - the upgrade is charged per platform and is $4.99 for mobile (iOS and Android, sold separately) and $24.99 for desktop (Mac and Windows charged separately). The upgrade is optional though. MW 2 will continue to work just fine, so the sense it makes is that while it will not receive new features, if the current feature set works for you, you can now get MW2 for a huge discount.

David Drane I just downloaded the trial from the above link and it is asking for licence key with buy or activate buttons. No other option. So, it doesn't appear to be a trial version.

Aug 3 2018 at 6:55am Copy Link

0

Iliya User @RichV - yes, one license can be used for multiple computers assuming all people in the family use the same SYNCBits account. It's via SYNCbits that we sync the license among different devices to activate them.

@David Drane - you can click the Dismiss button and then just explore MoneyWiz. Without subscription SYNCbits and Online Banking will be disabled though. Also we have 90 days refund policy so if you subscribe to activate SYNCbits and Online Banking and then determine it doesn't work for you, you can just get a full refund.

Ronald Jurman Downloaded the Trial version from the website (not that Trial link listed above with the product, that's not a trial).

Yes, the trial from the website is version 3 (3.0.6), not version 2 (which is what the sale is for).

So, I gather there is no trial available for version 2?

Reviewing the version update log at the website doesn't instill much confidence.

Version 3.0.0 (presumably the immediate successor to the version selling here), lists major performance improvements, and, more concerning, a rather long list of bug fixes, including fixes for crashes. Are those fixes from some unlisted 3.0 beta version? If those are fixes from version 2 (this sale version), I'd feel quite concerned.

Uninstalled. I think I'll wait until there is an actual trial for the version for sale.

Bill Sech Their moneywhiz website says vs. 3 allows for a free version and a paid standard and then an additional premium version. They claim the free version allows for unlimited accounts. When I downloaded and installed the free version of vs.3 it only allows for one account. Their website clearly says different and I find this inaccuracy suspicious. So in short I will uninstall and forget about this software.

Bill Sech The uninstall that I mentioned above did not work. The program for some reason is still on my computer and I did further checking. Now I have found how to create multiple accounts. The icon for creating an account looks the same as the icon for creating a new transaction even though they are in 2 different locations. This threw me off as I checked the new transaction button first. My mistake, however using 2 different icons and more tool tip info might help others.
