What are people saying about MSTech Anniversary Festival Bundle

Peter User After reading the blurb, I was interested in Swift Gadget. Requested a trial key via their website - it told me the email with the key had been successfully sent, but nothing has been received (and yes, I have checked my junk folder).
Not going to buy a product I cannot even try and for which proper reviews seem to be difficult to find.....

RS Following up on ron r's comments, the graphic for MSTech's anniversary promotion on its website offers two options: the Silver Pack with free update and the Golden Pack with lifetime upgrade. This clearly indicates that for $9.99 you get at least one version update whereas for the more expensive option at $19.99 you receive all updates/upgrades for life.

The BDJ offer provides only one version upgrade for the same price, if the terms listed in the Fine Print are accurate. MSTech's response from Andrew appears contradictory in that he stipulates that the BDJ offer includes one major upgrade with its minor updates, but also claims that the software comes with lifetime updates (not to be confused with lifetime licenses).

I'd ask for a clarification because it would appear that the BDJ isn't as good as what MSTech is offering on its own site.

MSTECH Global Dear @RS,

Let me correct my answer. All the product in the bundle ($19.99) are lifetime upgrade, but if you purchase the single product you will receive only the next major upgrade and related updates.

Also the deal is the same.

MSTECH Global Dear Chris,
In order to transfer to another computer first, that transfer must be permanent, and for that matter you can contact our sale team at "sale@mstech-co.com"

RS Andrew: Thanks for your response. However, Chris has raised a related issue.
When you say that a transfer of a license must be permanent, what does that mean? First, I assume that means one can transfer it anytime you buy a new computer or upgrade its hardware, which could be every two or three years? I know that I've purchased software with a lifetime license, and installed it on at least seven systems over the past 20 years. Please confirm that this is allowed.

Alternatively, if one decided to move one of your programs from a desktop to a laptop, would that be allowed? What if one decided to reverse that decision? I understand that you don't want a user to switch machines frequently, but what would be an allowed time frame? Three months? Six months? One year?

I believe it's critical that a customer know what he can and cannot do with the software he purchases, so please define in detail what is and is not allowed. To my way of thinking, if one is unsure or the terms are too restrictive, you will likely lose that potential customer, so it seems pointless to alienate a user who is willing to pay for a license provided he can use the software without undue restrictions.

This makes no sense to me so please explain better.

RS I see that my questions about this offer were posted more than 2 hours ago, and that MSTech's Andrew responded to another posting less than an hour ago. Does that mean that my posting was overlooked or ignored? I'm interested in purchasing this deal, but I need to know under what circumstances I can reinstall the software when and if necessary. Thank you.

Constantin Florea Apologies for any issues related to the timing of the comments. We had an issue earlier (approximately 5 hours ago) which we believe caused this. That issue is now fixed and going forward all new comments should have their natural order. Unfortunately we cannot fix the timing for the older comments.

RS Andrew: I believe that the answers to my relevant questions would be of interest to anyone on this forum who may be interested in purchasing your software. As such, your response asking me to contact you directly is curious and unfortunate. It's as if you don't want us to know the terms of your install policy.

And, given that it is unlikely I will hear from you before this offer has expired, it isn't helpful or responsive to my concerns. If I do decide to make a purchase, I will expect to receive a full refund in the event that your installation terms are unacceptable to me.

Great News! MSTech (Modern Software Technology) has agreed to extend this deal for another day - Enjoy!

Peter User I requested it about 30 mins before my post above. I have still not received the key, so I have contacted sale@mstech-co.com as requested.

ron r Are these lifetime major upgrades for free: v5, v6, v7...etc...
Or are these timed or one major upgrade free and then pay for major upgrades afterward. Example: 1 year of free updates OR current version is V3, all updates free until next major version V4.

The fine print states:
Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free up to the next major version and minor versions thereafter.

But the original prize as the discount from original prize (550$) suggests that these where based on on the lifetime updates:
https://mstech-co.com/shop/ (press buy button)

I added all prizes (pro versions only where applicable).
I could be wrong here, that's why I am asking.

Chris I used to love their software, but this line in the fine print is very true:

Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed.

That makes me mad that I spent a lot of money for nothing.
Even with Lifetime Upgrades it is only good for the computer you install it on.

I will never purchase their software again because of not being able to install on new computers.

Ulysses Folder Icon Pro doesn't work properly on Right click on demo. Not impressed enough to buy - seems very clunky.

Mar 4 2020 at 10:46am Copy Link

RS A follow-up to my earlier post: I decided to purchase the bundle, despite the fact that it isn't clear when or if the titles in this bundle can be reinstalled after the initial installation. In response to my request for clarification in this BDJ thread, MSTech responded by telling me to contact them privately. I did so more than 15 hours ago, but still haven't received a reply. I also followed up with a message on this site requesting that they post the terms of their installation policy here (or anywhere we can access it since it doesn't exist on their website either) so that we can determine whether its acceptable before making a purchase.

geo User Just my experience with the vendor: I came close to buying a few of their products eg: Swift gadget and Folder icon but did not get clear and concise answers to my questions with regard to licencing. Not being able to move the software to a new laptop which I get every 2 or so years either personally or through work is a show stopper. It is a certainty that you will at some point either reformat or replace HDD or some other component and I get the feeling that you might get denied activation.
Also, their response time is slow to non existent (in my experience) with questions so I am thinking how this will play out when you are dead in the water with their software and you just hoping for someone to get back to you. Sorry to say they need to up their game a few notches. They need to establish their reputation in a good way if they want sales. Just my opinion.
