Arthur-John McMichaelson If this came with screaming and some real emotion I'd buy it, but it only has font viewing and sorting, no font library

K H I was already interested in this program so was happy to find it offered here. I'd like to use it to make screensavers, but I was unable to get the smooth (water) effects that are demonstrated in the screenshots and on the Nufsoft website. My attempts result in definite lines running across the screen. I will keep working with it, hoping it is something I am not doing right. In the meantime, I'd sure like to know what the video card requirements are. I couldn't find that information anywhere.

tim tipors do you get free lifetime updates if i buy this

Jul 2 2009 at 9:58am Copy Link

Armin Budiman @K H: You may try to use the effects from the preset, most of our demo was done just by using preset water effect.
Nature Illusion Studio doesn't need 3D engine/card so it can run on any video card.

@Tim Tipors: As part of our promotion we would give all Bits du jour customer free lifetime updates. =)

Nick Katz Armin,
I purchased your software when it was offered here previously. How come i didn't get free lifetime updates. I had to buy a new one-year subscription.
thanks.

Hazen Hoffpauir I tried to order this and plimus says that coupon code bitsdujour is invalid. Is this software not available ?

Peter pereh I got my license today. I would like to make some suggestions:
- try to use pictures of real animals instead of paintings
- white dots do not look too good as snowflakes
- include the possibility to choose the installation directory.

Best regards,
Peter.

ouialaraison Is it just me? I get a “error 404 – page not found” everytime I try to download this trial (or any trial from Nufsoft site).

Lupke Brother shame the screensaver is not included, like in the NIpro deal on your website.

Feb 23 2013 at 3:34am Copy Link

Phil Tobin @ Lupke Brother: I've just paid for this seemingly nice piece of software and not only does the developer's website refer to the inclusion of screensaver facility (as does Roger's text, above) the online store offers a screensaver as a separate cost item but points out that it *is* included in Nature Illusion Studio Professional.

Could you tell your fellow Bitsters on what basis you have posted as you have done? I, for one, would certainly like to know.

Feb 23 2013 at 5:00am Copy Link

Lupke Brother @ Phil,

Yeah, of course. If I put NIPro in my basket on their website, I can see the screensaver is included. At the checkout page I see this: Special Offer Nature Illusion Screensaver for FREE (worth $19.95) This is added automatically at the checkout page as a special offer.

If I buy through BDJ it does not. The BDJ checkout page does not say the screensaver is included. It might be included, but it does NOT show.

Well, if you bought it, you should have received the screensaver too. Please let us Bitsers know if you did!

Ralph Bressler I think it might be nice if someone from the company would step in here and explain what is going on.

Phil Tobin @ Lupke: Thanks for the heads-up -- I'm just about to install the software I've just purchased, so will report back.

Software Guy Future upgrades depend upon version history. What is the current version? For users that purchased here in the past, what are their versions? Are they entitled to update?
Thanks.

Feb 23 2013 at 7:46am Copy Link

Phil Tobin @ Lupke: Ok, here we go then. Downloaded and installed fuss-free. No crapware. Goes to C:\Programs, doesn't offer any shortcuts but no problem to make your own.

Is resource light and fast. Resizeable GUI screen (good) and full-screen preview (excellent: to get out of it, just move the mouse.)

My previous experience of this kind of software was a product which draped an effects mask over the entire image and you push up or down the uppermost perimeter to determine the ripples / waves extent. It worked OK, but if you've a waterscape with ducks on it, then literally, you have to get all your ducks in a line -- not exactly brilliant.

This software isn't anything like as rudimentary. You mask off the water area using pens of different sizes -- broad brush for large areas, narrow to weave in and out between waterfowl etc. Any mistakes are instantly undo-able.

You then select from a good choice of speed / amplitude / ripple effects etc that which you prefer best. Previewing is easy: one click, and the GUI vanishes to be replaced by the full-screen version. Move the mouse, and the GUI / work-in-progress image returns.

That done, you can now add objects. . . which is where this software is deficient.

The other software I used came with a small library of object effects, including flying birds, falling leaves, and even, dancing butterflies (yeah, right.)

Click on the 'Add Objects' here and there aren't any. The developer doesn't provide any. You need to create your own animated gifs. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing because this software allows you to do just that: choose any image you may have, import into the program and edit/crop, animate, and install in any position /angle / speed / motion. A bit cumbersome, but it does mean everything, but everything, in this program is handed over to user control.

The program offers numerous options for your finished 'project'. One of 'em is a large button marked 'Screensaver'. Click it, and and a new menu opens, where you're asked to name the screensaver and add your choice of MP3 music to it. When that's done, click 'save' and that's it. Finished. Click 'run' to test it and then add it as a scr file to your existing roster.

Sorry that I've literally had no more than 15 minutes to play with this but (1) yes: I can confirm that it *does* incorporate instant, easy screensaver creation and (2) that there's actually a lot under the hood of this program that I still need to learn.

For the $10 price I paid, I have no grumbles at all -- though it would'vbe been nice had the developer offered at least a few animated objects rather than requiring the user to go off and find her / his own seagulls, falling leaves, butterflies and maybe even, meteorites.

Hope this helps / clarifies?

Antoosa FYI, ths is version 3.6.1. I determined this when I tried downloading trial program from vendor's site. Also, my registration key for Nature Illusion Studio Pro, purchased on Dec. 26, 2011, still works, in case anyone also bought it then. Hope this helps.

Feb 23 2013 at 8:59am Copy Link

ouialaraison @ Phil Tobin: There ARE a few objects (animated GIF) that come with the program and can be loaded through it. In “Effects” select the tab “Objects” then click on the first icon left and go to My Documents/Nufsoft/Images. Not very many, and not very beautiful, IMHO, except maybe the crows which look natural. Altogether, I think Desktop Paints makes richer softs of the same kind.

Feb 23 2013 at 11:38am Copy Link

Phil Tobin @ ouialaraison: Many thanks for that information -- it was very thoughtful of you to post! The Help files I used with the program (as fas as I'm aware) didn't mention the objects archive and, to be honest, when I clicked on the 'add objects' button it took me to the default My Documents/Nufsoft/Files. I didn't look any further.

Thanks to you, I've now drilled down and found 'Objects' and yup, there they are. At first sight, they ain't exactly works of art, but the crows are passable, as you say, so I'm off to play with them now (in a non-literal sense.)

Apologies then for failing to find the appropriate library file, and for mistakenly asserting that this software doesn't come with add-in animated objects when, in fact, it does.

Thanks again, ouialaraison.

Frank Stephens The BDJ deal appears to be just Nature Illusion Studio Professional. The download page
http://www.nufsoft.com/download.php
has the other screensavers, but we don't receive a key for them.
