J M Hello there,

I tried to buy Notezilla on Tue 1-15-08 (well before the day of this deal was over), however, I was unable to because each time I clicked on "Buy Now," I was directed to a blank page (a white screen). Thus, I was incapable of redeeming the one-day deal of $17.95 that was available.

Does anyone know the reason for this? I would still like to purchase Notezilla, but obviously I would like the $17.95 "special" pricing that was being offered on Tue 1-15-08,

Kelly Hamblin I've never been much for sticky note applications partly because I like my desktop clean and uncluttered. However, I tried this out a while back after reading about its capabilities on the Concept World website. I purchased it after having it on my system for two days. Now, I would hate to be without it. My advice is: 1) go to their site and watch the demo, 2) grab it while you can get it at such a good price.

Edwin Yip I tried this program and I like it, and I think it'd be even better to provide the following improvements:

1. In the Notes browser, allows the user to filter all notes with a specific tag, say, shopping, with a single click, like filtering with tags in gmail. The current approach needs a user to click many times and need to input text to filter notes for a specific tag.

2. Allow manual input when sticking to window, so that I don't have to start the program first. For example when I'm surfing the web and come up with an idea about the software project which is under development and I want to be get reminded about the idea once my development tool is started, now NoteZilla forces me to start my development tool which takes tens of seconds to load first in order to stick a note to it, not to mention it waste a lot of time, it breaks my thinking.

Overall, this is a nice program :)

Gautam Jain Thank you Edwin. Most of the suggestions you have already are implemented in NoteZilla. Thanks anyways.

1. You can filter by tag using the top right quick find text box.
2. Manual input of the window title is possible by double clicking on existing window title.
3. You can configure the program to randomly place the notes using NoteZilla preferences.
4. And it is possible to arrange all the desktop notes. If you right click on NoteZilla icon, you will find the option Desktop Notes-Layout.

Mike G While NoteZilla is among the most feature-rich sticky notes applications, a few enhancements would make it even more useful and convenient:

1. Add Reminder option (checkbox) to auto-unhide a note if it's hidden (instead of making me click unhide every time).
2. Add Reminder option to re-hide by single-clicking anywhere in the note IF the note was auto-unhidden by a reminder.
3. Make Reminder pop-up dialog optional (e.g. just unhide the associated note and play a sound without showing reminder dialog).
4. Add Reminder repeat options such as repeat X times and or remind only between the hours of X and Y.
5. Fix Checklist so it only adds a check box next to lines that are highlighted (selected) instead of adding a check box to every line in the note including the title. Other Bullets and Numbering items work correctly. Only checklist behaves this way.
6. Current desktop note shadow is almost too small to see without a magnifying glass. It would be nice to have choices like small, medium or large shadow.
7. Add an option to set whether note shadows remain visible when a note is hidden Currently it remains visible which seems strange to me.

Mike G I appreciate your consideration of these suggestions. It's possible item 7 may be a bug or problem with my display. The note shadow remained on my desktop even after deleting the note and exiting out of NoteZilla. I use Dexpot to create multiple desktops. Switching to another desktop and back finally got rid of the orphaned note shadow.

Scott Finklestein How does this compare to the Note application that included with Windows 7 for free? It seems to be pretty feature rich, and is free and first party. It is confirmed to be a release feature when it goes gold (Windows 7) so it won't be going away. Can you synch your app with the notes in Outlook?

Yes, NoteZilla notes can be synched directly with MS-Outlook.

NoteZilla sticky notes can be organized into folders, reminders can be set, has spell check, more font, skins options. NoteZilla sticky notes can stick to different windows and documents. They can be sent to another computer over network, sticky notes can be assigned different tags. You can lock a sticky note so that no body views it and much more.

Windows 7 sticky notes program does not have most of the above features.

TopDog I tried many note programs and this is the best out there, regardless of how old it is. I didn't get 50% off so I urge anyone that wants a first class sticky note program with tons of features to grab this one.

Looks good. The various PIM-type features are fine by me. Especially the tagging by user-defined categories and the ability to attach the note to a program or a web page. Mica D Can I - owner of more than one computer and only user of them - install your program on all of my computers (with one license)?

I recently bought a 1 user license of Tenebril's StickyNote v9 and afterwards (, i.e. after installing the software) it turned out, that they did allow to install it only on one computer. No word about it before buying. For me '1 user license' implies something else as '1 computer license'. Perhaps I'll write them, but probably a standard-reply (if any) would be the result of that...

I hope that's not the case with you guys. But I couldn't detect anything of a restriction (or confirmation) on your webpage too.

I sometimes work on my laptop, sometimes desktop and sometimes they both run, connected with a LAN. Is it possible to let Notezilla synchronize the given datas. So e.g. if I set a reminder to Saturday 18:00 for a ebay-auction on my laptop, having it connected friday with my LAN (with desktop on too) and work Saturday evening on my desktop: Will I get the reminder on my desktop too? Would be great...

If you are the *only* user between 2 computers, then you can purchase just a single user license and use it on both the computers. Please note that this policy is applicable to a maximum of 2 computers only.

Currently, there is no automatic sync. But you can easily achieve this using a script (batch file or so).

Tazzie Hi Gautam! I just wanted to leave a note here for everyone to give my support to the Conceptworld products. I have been evaluating all three products and recently took advantage of the recent Copywhiz deal to buy all three products.

First, the Conceptworld staff are great and responsive. I started to work with Notezilla first and was really enjoying exploring how to use all the great features it has. However, I ended up in bed with fractured vertebrae and unable to work with it as much. When the trial ran out, the staff extended the trial period for me, which I much appreciated. Gautam constantly responds on these boards, and I am sure you will all feel comfortable asking him questions.

Second, the products are great!!! Try them out ASAP if you haven't yet! They all do much more than it is apparent at first. Roger writes great reviews, so scroll back up and read his review if you haven't yet.

I love Notezilla and not just as a "sticky" program. I have a short cut on my task bar for "add new note," and I use it for everything. Here are some things I use it for ...
* writing reminders ... I can change the color to a bright one that will keep my attention with big fonts or whatever I need ... set up a timer to actively remind me
* cutting and pasting from documents in my files and from websites, etc., online ... since the notes can be kept on top of the window you are working on, they are great for when you are cutting and pasting more than one thing ... if you're not using a note right away afterwards, send it to a specific folder/memoboard in the Notezilla browser or just to a general folder there to retrieve later.
* to-do lists ... you can insert a setting for a checklist and click on boxes when you are finished ... make one for each type of list (ie grocery, work, individual projects, housework etc)
* make notes about a web page or related to its contents, just for starters ... put them on a note then stick it to the webpage (I put the webpage addy on the note in case when I see the note in the Notezilla browser and want to follow up on it, I know which web page I put it on)
There are sooo many options I haven't mentioned ... you really have to explore and try them out and work with the Notezilla browser.
As for the other two programs, I haven't worked with them as long but Copywhiz is great for when I have a lot of files in different places I want to put together ... I just put them in Copywhiz (rightclick a file right into Copywhiz!) then when finished save them all tother. There is. of courses, more than that to the program. Go back to the Bits du Jour offering of Copywhiz in July and you can review comments, etc., about the program. I think RecentX was also offered, but can't remember when. That program is really cool, and saves time not re-searching for a file, program or website. You can copy paths, files, etc ... tag anything in the program ... so much you can do!

I don't usually write reviews, let alone ramble this much about software, but this group of software has really impressed me, and the staff at Conceptworld are icing on the cake. It makes me much more enthusiastic about using a program if I know there is solid and dependable support behind it.

Well, this was not exactly what we said in our announcements to existing Notezilla customers.

We only mentioned that we have started development on Notezilla's new version and hope to launch it by early next year. We also requested them to send their feature requests.

So as of now, we do not have any list of features that will be included in the new version.

This promotion at BDJ is not with an intention to sell you upgrade licenses anytime soon.

The new version will take time. Atleast 6 months.

So if you have 8 computers in total, you will have to purchase only 4 licenses.

However, if you choose 'Notezilla Portable', you can just buy one license and install it on an USB stick. Use this USB stick on any number of computers.

A single sticky note can store up to 1 million characters. Number of notes in a memoboard depends on the computer's memory and resource availability. Normally, a memoboard can have anywhere between 150-300 notes.

Staley I really would like to purchase this... but I have had several emails into the vendor for an support issue with the recent BitsDujour promotion of RecentX. RecentX keeps crashing every time I boot into Windows.

I sent support dumps and Screenshots with no reply or mention of a fix/work around.

I was looking forward to this promotion... but am afraid that I might have similar quality issues with Notezilla, and will be in the same place, as I have been with RecentX.

RecentX is a system level software. So sometimes based on the computer settings it may behave differently that we need to address individually. But this is not the case with Notezilla as it is a straight forward notes program.

Brenda Gann I thought there was a newer version of NoteZilla than what I have, but I already have v7.0 (build 85). Is that the current build?

I have a Zire 71 that is broken that I was using NoteZilla on. I got a used 72 that has issues.. so not sure if I will get another 71 or a 72. The sad part is the 72 desktop software wants me to uninstall the 71 software :-( I think the 71's issue is just a battery.. I got a battery but have not gotten around to replacing it.

I was told a long time ago that Palm support was going to be dropped so that was why I asked.

BTW I also have your other products such as RecentX.

The features list includes password protection. Is this for a single note or a folder or both and is it encrypted? What type of encryption?

When a note is attached to a file or folder does it become part of the item? If the item is copied or moved can the note be read if notezilla is not currently installed on the system it is being viewed on?

1. I have downloaded and unzipped the portable NoteZilla - and I have received the license code - but I cannot find where to input the code to license the software. Please, advise.

2. I intend to use it on my laptop for the time being. If I need to also put it on a USB drive and take it with me to be accidentally used on another computer that would not be a violation of the license, right?

3. Since the update of the Portable version will be done by downloading and unzipping the new version, does this mean that the currently active notes / reminders will be lost?

To unlock Notezilla:

1. Right click on Notezilla icon (next to the clock) in the Windows taskbar.
2. Choose "Notes Browser" from the menu that appears.
3. Click on the Register menu in Notes Browser window and choose "Enter Key" from the menu.
4. Now paste the registration code emailed to you on purchase and press OK

Make sure that the name specified is same as the registration name provided when purchasing the product.

Portable license is intended to be used directly from the USB drive. I hope you are running Notezilla on the laptop from the USB drive.

The data will not be lost when you update/upgrade the portable version.

2. After your email I copied the files to a USB drive and started NoteZilla from there. The program appears to be registered (the Register dialog does not appear). Hope that will not be a problem. Please, comment.
3. The username has been issued in my personal name: initials P Ts. However will it be possible to issue it in my company's name (as per the invoice, it was sold in my company's name). I am the only person working for this company, so I will be the only one using the software anyway. Please, let me know.

Software Guy There are many useful features and applications for this versatile product. My favorite without a doubt is the reminders function. Great for to do lists. There are free alternatives, and even concept world has a lighter version, but it is a nice price for a truly useful product. Grab it while you can. Once you start to use it you will like it.

Eddie Tex I think the danger is if you were to open Notezilla from more than 1 PC at a time and make updates on multiple devices, the last update will be the one that's final, thus erasing the updates from the other PCs.

Technically, as long as you're careful to only run it from one PC at a time, your data should be fine.

It's highly likely that you do not receive any legitimate license when purchasing from the mentioned site. The internet is overcrowded with the sites selling cracked versions or pirated license keys and this site is one of them.

Our program (USB Safely Remove) is also on this site but we never gave them permission to re-sell the licenses and conforming to our EULA it's impossible to transfer the license to another person without our explicit confirmation.

P.S. I'd recommend BDJ representatives to delete the mentioning of this site to avoid purchases of deliberately fake licenses by BDJ visitors.

In general I'd be extremely wary of unlicensed "resellers" like this. The site smelled a little fishy to me. Personally, I'd never dream of giving them my credit card # :-)

I noticed that notes can be written in Cyrilic (Unicode), but reminders when they *remind* show gibberish when showing unicode notes. Can this be fixed or will it be fixed in the next version?

VLM If I buy the portable version:

1. Where are the sticky notes stored? On the flash drive? (sounds likely) On each machine? (sounds unlikely)

2. I am a DOpus 10 user. If I move a file that has a sticky note attached, does Notezilla hear about it from DOpus and adjust the location info / relationship?

3. Regardless of version (desktop or portable), can one encrypt notes? If not, is there any plan to add such functionality?

1. Sticky notes are stored on the flash drive.
2. If you move a file, sticky note cannot change the location automatically. The file will just not be found.
3. All notes data in Notezilla is automatically encrypted.
4. Unfortunately, due to recent Indian Government's rules, the money order option has been removed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

umike Is there a way to attach a note to multiple keywords when the note is sticked to windows?
For example I have a note for holiday ideas. I would like notezilla open this note when it detect any one of the keywords in the window title : holiday, vacation, airline, tour.

Javier Gil I purchased notezilla a while back and I use it just about everyday. It's by far the most outstanding "post it" notes EVER made. The portable version is awesome, let's you take your notes everywhere.
My favourite features? hmm... I love the ability to add notes to webpages, and next time you visit them, the notes pops up. Really awesome!
I also like the transparency feature, ability to roll down notes, the alarms, etc.
Features I'd like to see in the new version?
Sometimes, if you have more than 100 notes on one memoboard, you get messages telling you that you should move those notes to another memobard. I guess that could be improved.
Perhaps some social network feature (such as "send to twitter" or whatever).
Tags would be interesting (as umike seems to suggest).
File attachment improvements.
A support forum would be cool too... ;)

Yes, you can attach to multiple keywords. Edit the title to *holiday* inside the 'Stick To Window' window. Select another title and edit it to *vacation* and so on.

ie. the license should not be resticted to 2 pcs only of 1 user - of the installer and if not the installer then the portable version atleast. (and users should be able to install on their hard drives too on all pcs - not just 1 usb drive). the present restrictions make the program quite much expensive for persons who have multiple pcs / laptops and install portable apps on hard drives.

I nearly bought NoteZilla v7 through BDJ today - then realised I had bought v7 back in September 2007! 70% development in 5 years!

Can you commit to delivering a v8, and with a free license to BDJ users, within the next 6 months?

I like Notezilla, and gave a nice review of it on Donationcoder some years back.

it seems that the webpage sticky aspect is very rudimentary "Stick to Window" .. while the Firefox extension Internote allows a much more flexible type of sticking based on url .. (although the note itself is weaker in various other ways)

Am I correct in the distinction ?
If so, can you try to move into that realm ?

vern taylor nice idea for win xp users but since a lot of us have since upgraded to windows 7, why would we just not use the sticky notes that came with windows 7 ? I think even at the discounted price of 17.95 that its a bit pricey for what it does.

Amit I want to buy more products of the vendor - in particular - recentx, within this days deal only - but tried downloading the portable and the installer - both were downloaded from author's site but when launched - both gave errors and never started up. i think regsvr32 errors.

ERROR ON INSTALLING INSTALLER WAS - FAILED TO REGISTER THE DLL / OCX - EXITED WITH ERROR 0X3 - (approximate error details)

i wud really like to try and buy the software fast. can the vendor post a quick solution for the trying up of this app (recentx) ?

Portable software are not meant to be used on hard drives. In your case you need to install the regular desktop version.
If you are the *only* user between 2 computers, then you can purchase just a single user license and use it on both the computers. Please note that this policy is applicable to a maximum of 2 computers only.

Yes, you are right. Notezilla sticky notes depend on the title and not the url. We have redesigned the new version so that we can accommodate the url aspect also, so that we can ship plug-ins for different browsers & other software tools. Of course, this is not planned in the upcoming new version.

For very basic use, Windows 7 sticky notes will suffice.

But Notezilla has the 'Stick To Document', 'Stick To Website' features, rich formatting, reminders, folders (memoboards), more color options, skins, sending notes to other users and lot more. The new version is going to be even more rocking :)

Steven Avery Gautaum, thanks. It is not really proper to say "stick to Website" until you add that feature. It is "stick to Window". This window right now is "Notezilla Notes Browser with a 40%...."

There is NOT a single window equivalent to "http://www.bitsdujour.com " .

Not for the particular url, and not for the whole domain or sub-domain (which is what is done by the otherwise rudimentary Internote, surprisingly this feature is not common anywhere else).

So there is no way to stick to this website in general.

As for documents, that probably depends on the window naming convention of the particular word processing or other program.

While Notezilla is a fine program for popping up more statically named windows (especially the windows that come up each application program, email, file manager, etc) and it can easily be worthwhile for that and general note stickies, please do not simply say it has a "stick to website" feature. Not yet, and not for awhile based on what you say above.

@bvssunnydale - We have both options. If you choose the subscription plan then you only have to purchase a single license. You can then sync notes between multiple PCs and devices using the same sync account by same user. All with single license. There is a yearly renewal fee also involved here.

If you choose the one time payment option, then you will not be able to sync notes. And you would need to purchase one license per PC.

When did you all switch to subscription plan?
It use to be so easy to sync all computers on a LAN network without a yearly fee.
I always thought the world of the quality of your software, yet I've to admit I fell to the wayside a few years back when I got very ill. I'll look into this, but not really a fan of subscription services. Either way I'm glad you are still producing software.

Hi @Greg, in Notezilla 9, we have something called "Offline" memoboards. Notes created inside these memoboards will never go to the Internet. So you can try the sync version for a year at least and keep system specific and sensitive notes under the "Offline" memoboards and sync the rest. So you will be paying only for one license and sync both the systems.

Yes @Heidi-Ann, with the non-sync version you will be able to send notes over LAN. Like the old one did. Syncing over LAN wasn't possible even in the the previous version. But sending sticky notes over LAN was possible.

The Fine Print section states "Email license activation is required." but I tried to install it on a machine that doesn't have internet connectivity and it won't register/activate my license, the program states that a connection to the activation server is required.

Thanks @Staley for pointing this out. We didn't notice this option in BitDuJour. Sorry about that. From this new version we have online activation unlike the previous version. There is a workaround for this. You can download the portable version on a system that has Internet connection and activate it. Then move this portable version to the system without the Internet connection. That's it.
