What are people saying about novaPDF Professional

Steven Avery Hi Folks,

I think it is worth noting that this company puts out Backup4all as well, which has a rep as perhaps the best of the backup softwares. Their company seem to be very high-quality and reliable. Hopefully they will be adding discussion forums in the future for their users :-) .

Not everybody needs a NovaPDF, however if it fits your need I would buy from Softland - knowing they put out a superior product. If you need to make complex .pdfs, or want features like the password and bookmark stuff, this would be the way to go. Personally I do not have that need yet (and use a freeware printer driver for very simple conversions) however that will probably change shortly, so the purchase would still be sensible.

Well I have 15 hours to decide.

Jay Argee I have used many of the virtual printer PDF conversion products and they all - so far - produce files that are substantially larger than the output from Adobe Acrobat. I would very much appreciate a comparison of the files sizes of the product with Acrobat. It should, in my opioion, be requiste to selling a PDF converter.

Keith G. It appears this software does not create PDF forms. If true, that's a real shame. That's the primary feature I'd want. Otherwise, I would just use one of the bunch of free PDF-generating printer drivers that are out there.

Peter C1 I understand your upgrade & minor updates policy which seems fair enough, but I was wondering ...

Q. Do you offer - or have you considered, a genuine lifetime upgrade (& minor updates) licensing alternative, so that ALL future upgrades (& minor updates) are free to the lifetime license owner?

Many Thanks

Kevin D Does anyone know whether novaPDF 7 Professional will scan to a PDF?  Nuance products do, but they are overkill for my needs.  Thanks.

Tore Hoyem I'm very much in the market for a PDF-creator like this, but it seems to me a few features found in competing products are absent. Features I'd want are: A preview function that lets you: Get an idea of what the output will look like, before committing to a file Delete pages before saving to file Append more prints before saving to file (The current system seemed a bit cumbersome) Is there any chance of this appearing anytime soon?

Software Guy Some comments: PDF converters are installed as virtual printers to create pdf files easily where the base program does not have a save as pdf option. Many options exist, here is an example:
The next step up are pdf markups which usually rely on an overlay to add highlights, graphics, text or words over the pdf. As another variant are the form fillers, which allow filling of forms. And there are many which allow different combinations. Finally there are the editors, which range from basic - can replace text or add graphics - to sophisticated. Many options exist. Just check out some of the earlier offerings on BDJ:
Finally there are the full editors, and again many options exist. Most people do not need these pricey editors. Adobe Acrobat is the very pricey standard.
Most people need a pdf reader and maybe highlight options, and the free nitropdf will do this. A minor diadvantage is that the file size of the created pdf is large.
As we step up, we have a group which includes NovaPDF offered today. For a very reasonable price it offers pdf merge, full integration into ms office, and a feature I think is most useful - clickable embedded hot-links.
These are nice features for a fraction of the cost of a full editor.
Now, if you need a full editor you already know it. Few people actually require a full editor.
So you decide - will the free alternatives meet your needs? probably for many. But if you use pdfs often then have a close look at the features of NovaPDF pro desktop because IMHO it offers a good blend of features that meet the needs of most.
Notice that the license is per computer.
