Andy Ingle Hi Marco,

The software does not currently support the Office 2010 file formats, however, purchasing the product with maintenance will entitle you to a free upgrade when they're introduced later this year.

Thanks,
Andy

Don Goddard I recommended purchase of NXPowerLite at my workplace and we have been using it for over 3 years.  It has drastically reduced the size of our PowerPoint files without hampering slide layouts or functionality (i.e., animation display).  This is a great utility!

Don Goddard This is an incredible utility. I help instruct a 40 hour course with heavy PowerPoint use. NXPowerLite drastically reduced the size of our presentations that contained many photos that were shot higher resolutions than necessary for that instructional medium. We noticed no decrement in quality in the optimized presentations!

mikkel ericcson Tried this software, and for jpg's it produces good result, taking a 2mb jpg down to 600kb, but haven't managed to get this working for any other file format, Is this just a restriction in the demo version?

Brenton Robinson NXPowerLite Desktop Edition looks like a great program.
If a Microsoft Word document is reduced in size with NXPowerLite and then subsequently modified with the Word program, should it again be processed with NXPowerLite?
Thanks for your help.

Mike Power Hi Mikkel, the trial version isn't limited by file format, however the technology works best on image/media heavy files. Therefore if you have Office documents or PDFs that contain images you are likely to get better results. We have some example files of each format on this page of our website that you can use to see the software in action: http://www.neuxpower.com/...-it-works/

Mike Power Hi Brenton, it will depend on whether the edits increased the file size substantially. If you just make some simple text edits the file won't re-inflate to the original size - once it's reduced it stays reduced even if it's subsequently edited. However, if someone added a lot more content to the document including more pictures etc. then you can process it with NXPowerLite again to reduce any new content that has been added. We tag elements in a file so we don't re-optimize them if they have been optimized before.

David McCartney Does it support Microsoft Publisher? How does your compression for PDF's compare to the full version of Adobe Acrobat?

Thanks

Edward Smith Is there a size limit? I just tried it on a 14 meg, an 8 meg and a 7 meg Acrobat file and it would not compress any of them; I just got a red X??

Mike Power Hi David, I'm afraid we don't support Microsoft Publisher at this point. As our software does reduce resolution of content, we felt Publisher might not be appropriate as often files are intended for print. If you a requirement to reduce Publisher files though, it will be great to discuss further with you?

Our compression compared with using Acrobat varies - PDFs support a lot of internal content formats not all of which we support with this first release.

Broadly speaking though, our customers have reported similar average results. There are some files we do better on, some roughly the same and some less well. However, we are aiming to broaden our support for content we don't yet optimize within PDF quickly, which will boost performance, and if you don't need the rest of the features within Acrobat, NXPowerLite can be purchased for a considerably lower price.

Mike Power Hi Edward, there isn't a specific size limit for the trial version, the issue is more likely to be related to content within the files that we don't yet support. We are keen to keep improving our software, so if you are able to share any of the files with us it will be great to take a closer look at why we aren't able to reduce them. From this we would be able provide more insight as to why we couldn't reduce them and let you know if it's something we can improve in a later point release. Please write to me at mike.powerneuxpower.com if you'd like us to have a closer look at these files.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike Power Hi Danny, yes NXPowerLite only supports the Microsoft Office formats. Although I see SoftMaker Office is compatible, so if a file is saved in the Microsoft format from SoftMaker it should be possible to shrink it with NXPowerLite.
Thanks.

Mike Power Hello Paul, adding a folder feature in is definitely in our future plans. However, it creates considerable additional complexity when mixed with the replace and backup or create optimized copy features. So to make sure we get it right we are still building a picture of what the primary use cases would be for this. Are you able to share anything about what you would like to use that feature to achieve?
Neuxpower - Jun 26 2015 at 5:18am Copy Link

Mike Power Danny, technically we are reducing quality in some areas, e.g. resizing images embedded in documents. However, we are always doing so with the intent to not compromise visual quality - so with our default settings you shouldn't be able to see the quality difference. If for any reason you did have an issue with a particular file, there are settings to control the quality so you can adjust this as needed.

Petr Hi, I purchased your Desktop NXPowerLite version 5 in July of 2014. I now have a new laptop. Will my Registration Code work on the current download version?

If "no", do you have an upgrade price or offer?
Nov 10 2016 at 1:06pm Copy Link
0
Mike Power Hi Petr,
NXPowerLite is now on version 7, so the code you have won't work on this current version unfortunately. The upgrade price is $25 which is the same as the deal price today for a license.
Both products provide very similar functions and file support. One important factor I'd suggest considering is to making sure the products are still being actively maintained so you know it will continue to work as time goes on and that you can access support. I can confirm we are constantly updating our technology, so version 7 was last updated in June this year - you can see the detailed release history for 7 here:
http://support.neuxpower..../207614019
Balesio's website only shows support up to Office 2013, so I honestly don't know if they are still developing their suite product or not. You could perhaps give them a shout to confirm.
Finally I'd say price seems quite key - it looks like Balesio is $54 for an upgrade, which is a little over double the price of NXPowerLite.

Hope this helps - and happy to answer any further questions you might have.
Thanks, Mike

Gary User First the good news on the trial - it worked on a 45mb PDF. But the PDF is just text (a local property tax roll) and using the "strong - smallest files" just reduced it by 4% - not a significant amount.

Mike Power Hi Gary,

Sometimes files don't have any content in that can be compressed by NXPowerLite. There can be a lot of reasons for this though - we have an option in the app if you right-click for "What if my file didn't reduce?". This takes you to our latest advise on how to make sure your file is as small as possible - even if NXPowerLite wasn't able to do it automatically this time.

We have a free analysis tool here that will give you a breakdown of what content in your PDF file is taking up space:
https://wecompress.com/en/analyze
Then we have detailed instructions on how to get your file smaller manually:
https://neuxpower.com/blo...-file-size

Sorry that NXPowerLite wasn't able to reduce this file automatically for you - but hopefully the links above will be some help.

Thanks,
Mike
