What are people saying about PDF Compressor V3

Jonathan Nelson I tried to register this product with the Registration Code you sent with my receipt and it returned the message "Invalid License Key".

Constantin Florea @Jonathan Nelson, Could you please confirm that you have used the correct registration email which is mentioned in the receipt email just one line above the registration code?
BitsDuJour Admin - Jan 23 2018 at 8:49am Copy Link
Jonathan Nelson Whoops! Sorry. I used my own email originally. When I used the registration email everything went smoothly.

Slaw User I can not change the settings. I change but when I press Compress I always have the same result.

Anne Williams When I tried to register this product, it takes me to the website to purchase. There does not seem to be a space on the product where you can insert the email and code given in the email??

Tom User Software crashing on registration page
Jan 23 2018 at 1:40pm Copy Link
Jonathan Nelson @Anne Williams, Yes, when you click on Register it opens up the website page, but it also should generate a pop-up in the product. You can close the website page and enter your info in the pop-up.

Shane User @Anne Williams. Hi, Dear Anne. When you click on the register button, a new window should pop up and just copy and paste your register license to the textbox and then click "Register" button.

Mike Murphy Can't really see any compression happening. As above, none of the setting stay where I set them. Tried to compress a 27 mb file and it only went down to 26. Adobe compressed it to 4, so something can't be right.

Shane User @Mike Murphy I dear Mike. I suggest you select images quality level and then remove all elements in Elements Tab. It will result PDF with high compression rate.
PDFConverters - Jan 24 2018 at 5:21am Copy Link
Mike Murphy I tried all that. None of the settings stay.

Richard User I'm having the same problem as some others. I press Register (either the Register button or Help>Register), it opens this page in the browser (http://www.pdfconverters....ressor-v3/) and the PDF Converter program closes. A pop-up window does NOT open. I've tried several times... same result.
Update: Never mind. PDF Compressor wants to run the registration pop-up from %LocalAppData%. For security reasons, exe's do not get to run from %LocalAppData% on my PC. There is no legitimate reason for an installed app to execute from that folder. Ransomware uses that vector to mess up your PC.

Anyway, I temporarily changed my security setting for that folder to "Allow", and then I could register the product.

Shane User @Richard User. Sorry for the inconvenience. Would you please send me a screenshot so that we can find and fix the issue. Regards!
PDFConverters - Jan 24 2018 at 6:10am Copy Link
Richard User @ShaneUser - There would be no screenshot to send since the program closes itself right away. Anyway, I fixed the problem myself (see "Update" on earlier comment).

Richard Holler I had the same problems with the registration process as many others, but finally resolved it by copying the registration email and code to my clipboard manager first, and then bringing up the registration window from within the program. Seemed to work OK that way, as long as I didn't take focus off the registration window. (?)

I've only briefly tested the product, and it seems to work pretty well. With the default settings, I saved a significant amount in the size of the file, and couldn't see any difference in the resulting file when compared to the original

My *only* complaint at this point is that when I choose the default "Save target file(s) in source folder, the program actually created a new *folder* in the source folder, and places the compressed PDF file in that new folder. It would be *much* better to simply place the compressed file in the same folder as the original, but with a modified file name (i.e. filename.pdf and filename[a].pdf). A possible settings 'option' to consider for the next update.

Shane User @Richard Holler Thanks you so much for your review. We will continue to update it and we will send you a free version after upgrade. Regards!

Todd User I must echo what the others are saying:

-The program closed with an error twice while I tried to register it. For some reason, on the 3rd try it finally stayed open long enough to enter the info. Then, it ran OK.

-The program didn't perform any compression. I tried it on several files with the strictest settings I could set, and absolutely no compression took place.

I uninstalled. It doesn't work. Not worth the $0 I paid for it.

Eberhard The sub-window that opens when you click on settings has a problem / or rather a flaw on my PC with full HD display: the OK and the Cancel button are not visible. Only after a resizing (increasing) of the window these buttons become visible.

This also explains Slaw User's comment "I can not change the settings. I change but when I press Compress I always have the same result.".
Jan 24 2018 at 2:17pm Copy Link
Slaw User Eberhard, you've solved my problem. Thank you!

Dan P It's always tough to complain when something is "free" but,

When you "click" the Register button on the main screen the app closes and you're taken to the PDF Compressor website. Registration is not possible this way.
You must Register by selecting the Register button from the dropdown menu. I'm not sure why the same code is not used for both clicks.

Roland User Does not point out that you can only compress 10 files and after that a watermark is put into the file.
Sep 14 2019 at 4:28am Copy Link
ROBERTO User How do you register this software? Registration takes you to the home page with no other indicators to get it up and running?
Sep 14 2019 at 4:43am Copy Link
E Junkie I didn't have any problem getting it to register, key came immediately...

I couldn't make it work in "limit of 10 without registration" but after putting in the key, everything was fine.

I started to get bitchy because the "splash screen" has at least two spelling errors, didn't go back to look for more. "limiations" and "upgrads"

This makes me wonder how closely they check their work. I'm mean, that's pitiful.

But... I reduced a 108 MB .pdf to 18 MB by simply using the default 50% image reduction.

I CAN'T tell any difference in the visual output. Zoomed in to 200% and still don't see any differences, but the file is less than 20% of the origiinal.

Keeping it.

Nevermind, got it, but it took an hour.

May 14 2020 at 4:37am Copy Link
Gary User I didn't get a risky warning BUT I downloaded the trial of the PDF converter software, after installation my first attempt to try it out popped up a dialog claiming I had already used up the 10-free no go on the trial of the accompanying software.

Computer Person The free version can only be used 10 times even after registration.

It is hardly a full working version unless you pay.

Very disappointing to limit its use, rather than have some additional features in the paid Pro version.

Deceptive, in my opinion.

Now to see if it actually works...
May 14 2020 at 8:07am Copy Link
Goupil Zefox Positive: batch compression is good and very fast.
Negative: -Each compressed file is put in a folder. You have to open the files one by one => Loss of time and yield. Lack of option to prevent this.
-The desktop shortcut has a fanciful name: ##IDS_SHORTCUT_DISPLAY_NAME3 ##

Rich 1st issue: had problem registering. After registering, and getting a popup telling me that the registration was successful, I clicked the OK button and then got the dreaded "Unhandled exception" error. Never did figure out what caused it, but I'm assuming that my copy is operating as a registered copy, since it says "PDF Compressor V3(Registered) in the title bar.

2nd issue: I tried a 25 page PDF file as an initial test, and the process started and appeared to be working, a folder was created (I wish that feature could be eliminated!), and a popup told me that the process was finished.... but no file ever appeared in the folder. I tried multiple times, with no success. A subsequent attempt with a smaller 6 page file worked just fine.

I'll be interested to see if the comment above about a 10-use limitation is actually true or not. I certainly hope that person is wrong.

Kun User When I clicked "Register" the program closed with an error message that the program has closed.
Instead of any further information it opened the webpage http://www.pdfconverters....ressor-v3/
where you can download the trial and buy the full version.

Interestingly on the third try finally a window opened where I´d been able to input the registration info, and it finally unlocked the program. Probably it had problems with the registration server? But a total program shutdown?!?
At least now the 10-time limitation should be gone. Not a good beginning, but I will give it a chance..

You can put ALL the separate folders together in another folder, search for *.pdf in that folder's search query box and then move all the search results in one go to another outside folder of your choice. Then just delete the first folder you created with all the separate empty folders inside and voila.

BTW.: Can someone confirm that the registered version is only good for 10 instances or not, please, so I can decide to install it or not. Thank you.
May 15 2020 at 8:10am Copy Link
L. D. User If you reduce the resolution of an image or turn it into a greyscale image then you ARE INDEED reducing the quality... either by reducing the number of pixels that make up the image or by reducing the number of colours that make up the image.

In either case you automatically end up with a loss of image quality, so how can you claim in your description that the process doesn't compromise quailty?

That statement is straight out false.

Elliot Sloane Installed and uninstalled 2x, but there are still problems. First, x.2 is not installed, but x.1. Second none of the settings can be changed. No matter how I change the settings, they go back to the defaults. (there is no "save" button, nor any to confirm the settings have been saved other than re-running a compression batch.) I can only achieve a single stage of compression. Yes, the compression was successful, and it was better than Acrobat 9 could achieve. I needed further compression, though, and the software that was provided will not do the job. I guess I'll try going to the mfr website and downloading an original file from there. Thanks for the effort.
