Harry Wallington Are there any advantages to viewing PDF files as image files, rather than as PDF's! Are there that many people without a PDF reader?

Dan Hite The advantage is that a person doesn't need to have Adobe or any other PDF reader installed. Most computers come without any such software installed. Also, PDF readers do come with some security issues. If you don't keep your PDF reader up to date it can fall victim to such issues (see http://www.adobe.com/support/security/). Image files don't have such security issues.

Michael R. A - for me - interesting usage would be to allow people not having a PC at all, but a DVD-Player / BluRay-Player let have access to PDF-content by converting a PDF-File to single image-files and saving them to the DVD. (In nowadays technical products there might be the case, that there is no printed manual, but instead a CD/DVD with a PDF-File, as happened when buying a TV for relatives of mine (without PC)).

Unfortunately with just copying the image-files to a DVD the result would not be very comfortable. Creating a DVD-menu which would allow a comfortable access to the page-images from the remote-control of the DVD-player would be great:

(1) To choose between more than one stored PDF-File
(2) Allow access to the next picture (page), the last, fast forward (e.g. 10 pages forward), fast backward, first page, last page

Is a feature like this planned and about to be released with a new version (within the year of free upgrades)?

Dan P I've tried with IE and FireFox but haven't been able to connect to the DataObjx site. Any one else having the same problem?

Dan Hite Michael R: Sorry, but there are no plans to add DVD menu generation to the product. You would need to use your DVD publishing software to create such menus.

Wearsie Jackson This sounds like a fairly creative approach to solving a problem.

My only concern is that in the last decade, I've never actually dealt with someone who had a PC and couldn't install some kind of PDF reader - there are alternatives to adobe acrobat.

It kind of makes me think of selling duct tape to help people keep their shoes from coming open because the person doesn't want to buy shoelaces.

This is not intended as a criticism, more of an observation. If I actually had ever run into a single individual who couldn't install a PDF reader, I would probably suggest this is an alternative.

Are there any limits for the PDF documents size for proceeding them into images?
I meant if I have more than 100 hundred pages in my document.
