What are people saying about PDF Impress 10
Gren Bingham But I assume that I still cannot edit the native PDF using this product without editing the underlying, pre-print document. This program seems to offer only a little more than the FREE Primo PDF from Nitro which I have used for years.

Also, I surely cannot edit the content of PDFs where the content is an image of text, rather than a conversion.

Every time I buy or try a PDF "Editor" that does not edit native PDF documents, I am disappointed, and I have bought and tried a few. Why would this not be the case with this product, since I cannot edit the underlying PDF document?.

Best regards, Gren.

BinaryNow You are correct, PDF Impress 2013 can do more than Primo PDF.
PDF tools ( part of PDF Impress) can provide PDF manipulation feature like merge, split, extract, insert, remove, rotate pages, add attachments, watermarks, stamps and digital signature, optimize and setup PDF layout.. More details are here:
http://www.binarynow.com/.../features/

PDF Impress is not a "PDF editor", it is PDF converter. It cannot edit the text in the PDF document.

Generally ( with some exception) it is not recommended to edit PDF document. You will always get a better PDF structured document when you edit the source( e.g. word) and then recreate PDF file from scratch.

David McCartney If you are looking for a simple, yet extremely powerful editor, try InFix PDF Editor.

It's greatest feature: you don't have to have the fonts which appear in the PDF installed on your computer. You can change the size of the page, re-color type or graphic elements in RGB or CMYK, and extract graphics. Developer is very responsive.

I use it every day in my business.

Cary Adams I don't get it. With Nitro Reader and Debenu PDF Tools I can do all this stuff for free. Why pay $99.95 or even $49.97. What am I overlooking in this offer?
Dec 10 2012 at 9:34am Copy Link
0
BinaryNow Well, Debenu PDF Tools are very feature limited. The better comparison would be to Debenu PDF Tools Pro which cost $59.95 per one user. PDF Impress can do all what Debenu PDF Tools Pro can do and also provide few more features. e.g. custom user profiles, drag and drop to PDF, watcher, custom MSI install creation, and new Windows 8 style user interface. Basically it is little bit nicer, more user friendly, has a little bit more features and with current special it cost less than $59.95. Additionally you will get three (3) licenses with us, not just one as with Debenu, so even with regular $99.95 this is a better deal.

BinaryNow @ Chris Dino. It seems that there was some conflict with third party component..e.g. print spooler. Our recommendation is to check control panel for PDF Impress, if found uninstall it, then restart computer and try installation again. Restarting is important because it will also restart print spooler. You can also verify if it is running in services tab in task manager. If you still have problem, contact our support team at support@binarynow.com

Troubleshooting the installation process: Create “PDFImpressLog.txt” in your Documents ( e.g. C:\Users\USER\Documents, where USER is an administrator who installs PDF Impress) and install will write information into it. Then email us such file.

Peter Crown @Brian W Debenu does not include virtual print driver, it can only manipulate already created PDF files and export them to other formats. PDF Impress can do same and much easier a nicer way and mainly it also includes PDF Impress printer which convert from anything into PDF and PDF Workroom. PDF Impress is cheaper and provide more features than Debenu. If you have PDF Impress, you do need Debenu opposite is not true.

BinaryNow @ Alan Ljungberg This is very professional and feature full solution, it is good chance that some organization will use only part of it ( e.g. printer+custom profiles+integration). Nice thing about PDF Impress 2014 is that it is flexible enough so IT manager not a vendor is making a decision how the product is going to be used/implemented in their enterprise.

Here are a some enterprise features usually not available in freeware alternatives:

- PDF profiles with custom MSI package creation which allow pre-setup default configuration on each desktop
- digital signature with appearance is much better than an average ( webcam support or just type in name to create a signature image is advanced)
- Email task allow sending PDF files directly through SMTP or Outlook. (this can be used for sending invoices, quotes etc.. by email as part of the conversion process)
- Print task (when you create PDF you can automatically also print it into physical printer within one process. Many enterprises still keep hard copies for archive)
- Developer API allows to integrate this application with any third party software.
- Right click conversion and digital signature support can be used for expense report approval by multiple employee (documents flow)
- and probably many other ways how this can be used…

Organization can used this as:

- printer+PDF profiles+custom install
- PDF Workroom + right click conversion and digital signing
- PDF Tools for pdf manipulation
- Desktop Watcher for automated conversion
- Integration with third party software
- Batch conversion (through Workroom or PDF to Convert folder)

Price depends on the number of user and is between $10-$33 per user Price of $99 includes three user licenses. We believe that this is affordable Desktop solution for any enterprise.

Alan Ljungberg @BinaryNow Google "PDFill" as per my post above. If you just want to create PDF files from print out then it does the job marvellously and for free. If you need all the enterprise functionality like package distribution and configuration then PDF Impress may be the way to go.

BinaryNow @ Alan Ljungberg We have no doubt that PDFill free printer provides you what you need. However as usually when people pay for something in comparison to getting it free their expectation is to get more. PDF Impress ( although given away now for free) is a paid shareware not a freeware. It provides more functionality than a free printer you use. For example PDF documents created with PDF Impress printer can be secured with 128/256 AES encryption not with an unsecure RC4 one, digital signature with a visual appearance can be added with support for webcam or direct image creation from the test string, multiple stamping and watermarking, does not require ghostcript, create PDF/A archive format and many more. It is not fair to compare these too products as each serve a different market. It is clear that PDF Impress is fully professional PDF solution for enterprise use, and it may overpower some home user with needs just for a basic PDF conversion.

Susanne Maggrah I have a question about problems installing PDF Impress. I downloaded the installation file, then opened it and started the installation process. I could only get as far as the first step, where I'm asked to read the License Agreement, which I did. Next I filled in the product key I was sent in the email I got from Bits du Jour. Then I clicked on next, and nothing happened. Whereas the next button had been coloured before I clicked on it, it is now all white. I can't even click on it again. I have tried this whole procedure twice now and have had this happen both times.
Could someone please help me with this? Am I doing something wrong or is there a glitch with the installation of this software?
I thank you for your help in advance.

Sincerely
Susanne

BinaryNow If you cannot click on Next button then the most probably you did not put a checkmark on, saying that you read eula. If you put a checkmark on, the Next button will be clickable and you can install 30 days trial. If you replace word TRIAL with a product key, it will install commercial release. Product key can be inserted later and software activate in About dialog, so you do not have to reinstall.

Susanne Maggrah Thank you so much for the prompt response. I finally did figure out what I was doing wrong, after taking a break away from my computer. Even though I was sure that I had entered the correct product code, (I had checked it two or three times) after coming back to my pc and checking it again, I realized that I had indeed entered a wrong digit when I entered it. As usual it was the old ID10T problem. :)
Thanks again for your help though, and I apologise for wasting your time. :(

I just hope that this PDF-maker does what misses to 99% of its competitors (but Adobe's Acrobat: http://www.adobe.com/cfus...moid=KHXXW ) : the correct management of internal links. A PDF is useless if internal linking ain't available. Particularly for technical documentation!

Stephen Brown To Sammy User, Bitsdujour is actually abrilliant place to get free and discounted software. I've been coming here for a few years and have got some excellent and very useful free softwares and purchased loads of heavily discounted softwares.

This is the first time I've ever had a problem. It's probably an issue that I'm sure the guys (and gals) at BDJ will sort when they are able. If they don't today, we will probably get a rerun sometime soon.

If you stick to your statement about not coming here again, you will miss out on some great deals.

What I like about BDJ compared to say TheGiveawayoftheDay is that often you get software that can be installed repeatedly anytime and on any computer whereas the giveawayoftheday software, although totally free, is limited in that you can only install on the day, plus you usually get a wrapped executable that's unusable after the giveaway is over. There are exceptions, and if you know your registry there are ways around it, but BJH has no such problems.

regards

SB

Bryan Darby I have installed program but have not yet received key. Apparently, I'm not the only one.
Also, according to the receipt, it looks as though I have been charged $12.47 against my PayPal account for this FREE program although it does not seem to have been requested from me by PayPal.
I don't really understand what's going on here!!!

Paul Hoelper I was hesitant to download PDF Impress 2014 after reading all the negative comments from people who previously downloaded the software. But after downloading the software (very easy) and installing the software (also very easy) everything worked great!

I realized that all of the negative comments came from people who didn't follow the easy installation steps provided by the manufacturere.

This is the first time that I don't get automatic email with the registration code almost immediately after a download.

For several hours I have tried the "Resend" multiple times, at least 4 times, but so far there has been no email from BDJ with the registration key.
Yes of course I checked my spam folder.
I hope we can hear from BDJ soon.

Petronius Arbiter II Okay, I'm reasonably impressed now by this program, whereas I never bothered to use the version you gave away in 2013 I may use this one more often. I just tried creating a .pdf file of this very page, including all the comments before mine, directly from the browser (Print Preview---> Print---> Select PDF Impress as printer --> Name destination file---> Go. Worked fast, did just what I wanted it to. There was some confusion about the file name but this probably won't happen again.

Just a couple quick observations for improvement:

-- I think potential users might be happier with installing if you could just bypass using msiexec.exe altogether and use your own customized installer. Many other software vendors do this nowadays.

-- Hardly anybody really LIKES Windows 8, ya know? Imitating the look and feel of that operating system in your GUI is an idea that should maybe be reconsidered. Maybe offer an alternative shell?

-- As with some others, I didn't have a problem with receiving the license code, but I had a BIG problem figuring out where and when to input it. Even rebooted because I thought I'd messed something up, which I hadn't. This should have been a lot clearer.

-- The installer made no attempt to create any desktop shortcuts; was it supposed to? Even more importantly, it's always appreciated when I have the option of choosing a Start Menu folder, instead of just having the shortcuts dumped in my main folder.

-- I'm very pleased BinaryNow didn't try to replace my default .pdf reader (Foxit) without asking me, but since PDF Impress Tools also functions as a very capable .pdf reader, I'm puzzled as to why, when I right-click on a .pdf file and select "Open With," PDF Impress Tools didn't even automatically appear as one of the options, until the first time I told it to by browsing into Program Files and finding it. This could use some tinkering.

Jim Stone This seems like a decent suite of PDF tools, but I'm rather disappointed that the virtual PDF printer doesn't appear to support collecting multiple print jobs into a single document like some competing products do.

(Yes, you can save each print job as a separate file and then merge them together afterward, but that's a lot less convenient.)
Mar 25 2015 at 2:52am Copy Link
0
BinaryNow @Jim Stone You can select multiple documents in your File explorer and right click, or use a Workroom and select more documents, or you can simply copy multiple files into Convert to PDF folder in PDF Impress, or even set up watcher folder and all this method will generate one PDF file for your multiple sources as long as you add "Insert pages" into your profile you use. These are much easier ways to merge your print outputs into one file automatic way. If you want to use manual way, you have an option to show merge dialog after each print job, and merge manually.
Amyuni Technologies - Mar 25 2015 at 3:24am Copy Link
2
Jim Stone @BinaryNow: I'll take a look at those options when I get a chance but, frankly, none of them sound nearly as convenient as simply being able to collect consecutive print jobs into a single document without having to generate multiple separate files in the first place . . . which, as I said, some of your competitors do support doing (e.g. Adolix PDF Converter).

P.S.
Now that I've played with it a bit more, I notice that there is a hidden "append to existing file" option that you can invoke by selecting an existing file in the Save dialog. (You might want to provide some indication in the UI that this feature exists.)

That's not *quite* as good as what I'm asking for, but you can get a similar effect by appending each progressive print job onto the same file.

The only problem is that if you have it set not to open the PDF after creating it, the program gives you no indication of when it's done generating the PDF and thus no indication of when it's safe to append the next print job to the file.

I haven't done any extensive testing yet to see if it gets screwed up if you append multiple printouts to the same file too quickly, but it would be nice if the program generated a notification when the append was complete like BullZip does.

P.P.S.
I discovered a minor but rather annoying bug while I was testing the PDFImpress print driver: if you have the Windows taskbar set to be at the top of the screen then PDFImpress' Save dialog does not get positioned correctly and actually ends up partially *under* the taskbar.

BinaryNow @Jim Stone thank you for reporting issue with a taskbar. We will do more investigating on this. Save as dialog shows on top left corner and taskbar should be under not over it. This is how it works on my Win 8 and notepad, but issue may be related to operating systems and application. Some applications may not return control back to operating system and that is way our Save as dialog may show under. If you need more assistance contact us by email at support@ binarynow.com
About merging print job. Please look into our other alternative (Workroom, custom profile) more closely and you will see that they are multiple merging option in our software which does not require manual printing and manual merging after print. If you email us your "case" we will try to suggest the way which required the less clicks for you.

BinaryNow @Trevor Clegg @krokus tair This usually happen when there is a conflict with a previous installation. Go to control panel, uninstall any previous version of PDF Impress, restart and then try to install again. Alternatively, there is a problem with a restarting a print spooler, but PC restart should fix that. Please be sure that you are administrator to a local machine when you install it. Is this does not help, contact us by email at support@binarynow.com.

NEXT only accessible with new product key..that I could overwrite. So reluctantly added new product key. Big Mistake. Overwrote, got same print spooler error and not updated. NOW my old PDF Impress DOES NOT WORK. I will keep folks posted.... I do appreciate the software.

Friendly Foxes Ok, so here's my update. I could not find PDF IMPRESS in my loaded programs uninstall programs. I reinstalled the old PDF Impress, and "had" to use the word TRIAL. Then I activated the old product key. HINT. write down the old product key before you do this. The OLD PDF Impress works. It is clunky..always got to remember it does a pop up box to do a file name. So I guess you have a choice. I just went back to the old one.

BinaryNow @ Friendly Foxes If you uninstall old one, restart and install a new one and use a new product key, it shouls work for you. Your old product key may not be compatible with a new installer and that is why the next button was not active. You can email us both product keys to support@binarynow.com and we will confirm it.

If you are having trouble installing...suggest use TRIAL as activation code.

wts Unlike last night, today the process for getting a free "update" (since I already had a free predecessor of the program installed) worked exactly as expected. I installed the new file over the old installation without deleting anything. Near the beginning of the new install, a screen brought up my preceding key in an entry box. I replaced it with the new key from the yellow box in today's email. The install then proceeded flawlessly and the program version 2014.62.01.192 appears to work correctly so far.

Note I did have to use the Win 7 Task Manager to end the explorer.exe process and then to reinstate it after the install completed. No big deal, since if explorer.exe is not shut down, then you'll have to reboot.

Thank you for the program. Sooner or later, you can count on BitsDuJour to deal with a problem correctly!

Jae User Okay, I installed successfully on my laptop. Also signed up for my husband's laptop, and my sister's laptop. Got the registration code and downloaded program file for mine and installed/registered successfully. But when I get on the other 2 laptops, with their accounts, and click on the free download, during checkout, I get the red message saying: "It looks like you've already bought PDF Impress 2014 - Must be installed during promotion day, has personal use and paid upgrades. We're sorry but this promotion is limited to one purchase per person. You can Resend Your Email Receipt if you can't find it, or remove this item from your cart with the red 'x' button below." But I did not already "buy it" or get the free version on those 2 laptops. I click resend the email, and of course it says there's no record of it. And there wouldn't be. I couldn't complete the check out. Looks like from the comments above this has been a difficult offer to get. I'm running out of tiime, as you state it must be done during the offer day. So please, tell me how to get a registration code. My emails would not be in your system because there's clearly an error with the check out process on your offer.
