Albert C. It says it converts also attachments to PDF. How do you convert a ZIP or an EXE to PDF? I didn't know it was possible!

Also, NTN, what are exactly your problems with it? Would be interesting as this plugin is just 1 week old and they're already making an 80% discount!

Darren L. Hello Albert,
PDF Postman uses the AES-128 bit decryption capability that is included with every standard PDF viewer today. A Zip or EXE file obviously can't be converted to an image, so it is attached within the PDF file. It can be extracted by the PDF viewer. For example, Adobe Acrobat lets you extract files by dragging and dropping them onto your desktop, or you can open them in their application by clicking on them.

The convenience to the recipient is that they can receive the files you send, usually without needing to install any software (most devices already have a PDF Viewer).

PDF Postman is a new product; it comes with a year of product updates. Update notifications come through the software, so its easy to keep up to date.

We decided to run the promotion earlier, rather than later, to reach a critical mass of users quickly and generate buzz. Its also a novel concept, and we thought receiving user feedback on the front end would be beneficial, as we can more quickly roll it back into the product in the weeks ahead.

If anyone is having any difficulty running Pdf Postman, please contact the support team at supportline at encryptomatic dot com,or online at www.encryptomatic.com/ost If we are unable to resolve your issue on the spot, we'll put you on a list to receive an update at the discounted price when a fix a ready. We're not perfect, but we try hard, and we'll make it right.

Thanks for reading.

PortablesFan Any chance this will work with Outlook 2002 as well? I see it's not listed, but I've had luck with other '03-and-forward add-ons in Office XP/2002...
Thanks!

Jaydeem I have tried twice to purchase this software with a perfectly valid credit card (which I have used elsewhere today) but the faulty ordering process returns an error message.

Lupke Brother Has anyone tried the fvree trial version? It did'nt work at my place. The response from their support team was very very fast, but unfortunately so far they did not come up with a solution for my problem. I think I will give these guys the benefit of the doubt, because I think it is a great plugin and I like the idea behind it. 10 dollars is off course a very cheap bargain for such a plugin. I have 17 hours left to decide :-)

Jaydeem Attempted twice more to purchase this software using a perfectly valid Visa card (first two tries were with valid Amex). Same result. The ordering process is faulty. Emailed RegNow customer service who responded with a stock advice message of no practical value.

I imagine the vendor here, Encryptomatic, will not be pleased if this is a general failure with the ordering process. Is anyone else having problems?

Lupke Brother Hi Jaydeem,

Can you describe which step of the checkout process the error occurs? You are not using any filters in your webbrowser that might prevent the checkout process to run smoothly? i.e. pop-up killers et cetera. Try another webbrowser and see if it still gives errors. You'll never know.

Noggin The Nog I have finally bought this because of the discount and because it meets a need - that of sending encrypted email to the unsophisticated computer user, albeit that the recipient will therefore not normally be able to reply in a secure fashion. Also, it will only be good if it can be got to work. I look forward to hearing from the tech support (no reply so far), and hope that the eventual annual maintenance fee will be modest. I hope also that the program will be developed so that the digital signing and encryption buttons for the MS proprietary s/mime encryption function in Outlook can be restored to the tool bar.

I had no trouble buying it. I used Paypal.

Albert C. I also own MessageLock and would like to know what are the differences/advantages of these two plugins from Encryptomatic.

Thanks Darren for answering in the first place! ^_^
May 3 2011 at 1:38am Copy Link

Darren L. Hi Albert.
The advantage of PDF Postman over MessageLock is the wide spread availability of the PDF platform, and the cross platform capabilities that are inherent in PDF. PDF Postman is at its best when its important to ease the burden on the recipient.

The advantage of MessageLock over PDF Postman is the stronger encryption levels (up to 256 bit), and the two-way communication ability. MessageLock is at its best when two or more people use it communicate interactively.

BTW it would be interesting to know the exact problems of the two people that couldn't use it. Thanks! ^_^

Lupke Brother Hi Albert C,

I had this error:
PDFPostman add-in has fired an exception.
Error in IMAPIProp::SaveChanges: MAPI_E_OBJECT_CHANGED

I got this right after installation and attempt to send my first mail with PDF Postmen. After this error I was no longer able to send mails in MS outlook 2010., even if I did NOT use the pdf postmen encryption. I had to restart my outlook programm and then I was able again to send a normal email. In reattempting to use pdf postmen I got the same errors every time.

Darren Leno Jaydeem, sent you an email offline. We can arrange a different method for you if RegNow is not cooperating.

PortablesFan, we are working backwards from Outlook 2010. We have tested through Outlook 2003. We haven't tested on Outlook XP or 2000, so we don't claim compatibility with it yet.

Noggin - we don't touch Outlook's smime encryption buttons. Maybe our buttons crowded them out of your toolbar. Try expanding your window to full screen -- are they there? If you think there's a problem, please contact Viktoria on our support team and she will drill into it and schedule a fix if necessary.

Albert, we received a couple of issue reports through the software today, and fixes have already been applied and will be released soon as testing is finished. There was an issue with the OL2007 toolbar, and another user was on WinNT (which we do not support at this time). An fix will be coming through the update service shortly for the OL207 bug.

Geoff Woodfield Hi all,
does anyone know if Message Lock and PDF Postman work with 64bit operating systems? Many thank, Geoff
May 3 2011 at 8:22am Copy Link
0
Darren L. Hello Geoff,
PDF Postman runs on Outlook 2003/2007/2010. It works with both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Outlook 2010. It will run on Win64 OS's.

MessageLock will run on Win64 OS's as a 32-bit app. It is compatible with Outlook 2003/2007, and the 32-bit version of Outlook 2010.

Sorry you are having download problems. Try downloading direct from our site at www.pdfpostman.com, or from filekicker at http://dl.filekicker.com/...ostman.zip
It's a zip file, so anyone with WinXP will need a zip utility, like izarc.org or Winzip.

DrTeeth The full licence link in the policy section 404s.

Just d/l the trial and it works very well. It is too early to tell if it is my unfamiliarity with the plugin or not, but it seems to slow down Outlook 2010.

Typo in installer, 'first' is spelt 'frist'.

Buying now, too good a deal to pass up.

DrTeeth Whilst the software works well, it GREATLY slows down the loading of Outlook 2010, even when the native .net images/files are created during install. On the second day, I was told (by the program) that my registration was invalid - damn hardware footprints.

I had to email the sales dept as the support ticketing system would not let me set up a ticket to ask for the refund.

I have decided to take advantage of the 30 day money back guarantee and have already uninstalled the product.

Great product let down by its execution.

Franz Grieser I am just trialling it in Outlook 2013. Works fine so far.
The only thing that was not positive: The receiver definitely needs to use Adobe Reader if he gets an email containing attachments. While SumatraPDF correctly decrypts email messages, attachments are only shown and decrypted when you use the Adobe software.

@Darren: What you should point out is that the software is available in various languages - depending on the language of the Outlook/Windows system used. I was surprised to see that there is a German version.

Darren L. Hi Franz,
This page on our website discusses accessing file attachments in PDF Files.

https://www.encryptomatic...d-pdf.html

There are quite a few PDF viewers on the market. The best and most popular viewers that have implemented the full specification handle file attachments without issues. I will ask our people to take a look at Sumatra so we can have an opinion on that particular PDF viewer.

In our experience, most recipients will not need to install any further software to open a PDF Postman-created pdf file, but clearly some might.

Darren L. Also, we indeed should have mentioned that PDF Postman has menu language support for English, German, French, Dutch, Russian and Spanish.
The strings are easily translatable and we are glad to add additional language support as opportunities present themselves.

Darren L. Hi Everyone. Thanks for checking out our promo for PDF Postman add-in for Microsoft Outlook. It's been a couple of years since PDF Postman has been offered on BDJ. This is not our usual target market, but we really get great product feedback from the software lovers here. That helps to drive our development going forward.

We built PDF Postman for an accounting firm that was struggling to communicate with high net worth clients. They just needed a simple way to send documents securely through email. The manual process they were using included converting documents to PDF, encrypting the PDF and then e-mailing it. PDF Postman saved their accountants a lot of time because it can do those three individual things in one simple step. The nice thing about using encrypted PDF's is that just about any recipient on any device is capable of opening the message and accessing the files, assuming they know the password of course.

Simplicity and adaptability around current business processes for MS Outlook users, and ease of access for non-technical recipients is the strength of PDF Postman. If there is a drawback to this method, it's that the password has to be shared with the recipient, so it's not as secure of a process as OpenPGP. PDF Postman tries to strike that balance between business practical security and paranoid-strength security (we do that too... see Encryptomatic OpenPGP).

If PDF Postman is a good fit for you, this is a great limited opportunity to acquire a license. This is the latest, most recent PDF Postman license, and it comes with a year of updates and support.

Encryptomatic LLC was founded in 2005, and is a U.S. based company serving large and small customers all over the world. We pride ourselves on taking care of our customers and offering no hassle refunds when we're not a good fit for your needs. Supported is provided by email, live chat, online ticketing and by telephone during our regular US business hours.

If you have any questions, post them here. If you have any install/uninstall issues, we'll work with you through them. Probably the best way to do that is to take it directly to our support team so we can back-and-forth more quickly. https://www.encryptomatic.com/support/

Thanks for your interest in PDF Postman!

Mark Krieger Hi Darren

Slick and thanks for the discount here. I looked at PDF Postman before but couldn't justify the regular price for my usage volume.
I just downloaded the trial and it seems that Acrobat Reader blocks access to embedded .exe and .zip files.
Are there any other files that can't be embedded?

Thanks

Antonio Maradiaga Hi @Rodina User, I understand your frustration, please note that the compressed file issue is a limitation on Adobe, not our software.
Dec 6 2018 at 5:04am Copy Link

Mark Krieger @Rodina User
I hate this limitation as well, but that's Adobe's decision. You can read about a feature request at https://forums.adobe.com/thread/520515
I bought this software and it is compatible with Adobe Reader. Just Adobe decides to block your attachments while other PDF readers don't do that.
The software will still be useful to me, but I am mad at Adobe, not Encryptomatic.
It would probably be good if PDF Postman would pop up a warning message if it finds an attachment that Adobe products would refuse to give access to as a warning to the user, but that's as far as they can go since Adobe limits its products to not allow the full features of the PDF format.

mike User I had previously tried this software some time ago and was quite impressed, not enough to pay the full price at the time though.
I am retired and would only use it occasionally so thought the "free version" with 5 emails a month would be sufficient after the trial had expired. However, despite the claims that after the 15 day trial ended it revert to the free version it didn't, all I got was continuing message to purchase it.
