What are people saying about PDF Prime

Gareth Thomas I'm not convinced that this software can unlock lock pdf files that others produce and lock without asking the owner of the original pdf for the password...which they might not (probably won't) give out.

The video doesn't clearly explain how this aspect works either.

Could someone clarify...can I unlock pdf files belonging to someone else?

Bryan Darby I have just purchased PDF Prime and immediately tried to unlock a PDF manual supplied with a recently purchased item. After all, that's what I bought it for.

PDF Prime simply told me that the file could not be processed because it require a specific password.

What is the point of saying that it will unlock password protected documents if it won't?

Dale Henning Hello, I can answer both your questions about unlocking PDF files with PDF Prime. PDF Prime requires a password be entered for locked PDF files. These are files that have previously been locked with this password. The idea here is if you were to lock a PDF file, you could send this PDF to people who only should be allowed to view the PDF file. Businesses often do this to protect sensitive information, or people who send personal information.

Bryan Darby I understand what you are saying but the sales pitch leads one to believe that a protected PDF can be opened by someone who does not have access to the password. It can't.
Would it not be better to prevent any misunderstanding by stating clearly that protected documents can only be opened by those who are authorised to do so?
There seems to be no advantage in purchasing PDF Prime. It seems that only a standard PDF reader is required to do what PDF Prime does. Where's the sense in that?
Unless I'm missing something...

Roger Thomasson @ Bryan

I see what you mean regarding the password-protection feature. However, I think the fault here lies with our (BDJ) promo copy. Embarrassing! I'm removing the misleading text.

Many apologies for the misunderstanding!

Genie au Travail To unlock PDF files you can use Simpo PDF Password Remover.

http://www.simpopdf.com/p...mover.html

Another tool is Wondershare PDF Password Remover (previously AnyBizSoft Password Remover).

http://www.wondershare.co...mover.html

For this task, both softwares are terrific.

Doug Atkinson There are two levels of PDF passwords:

"User" passwords prevent you from opening a PDF if you don't have the password. The only way around this is to "brute force" the password, which can be very time consuming, espeically in newer versions of Adobe that use 128 bit encryption.

"Owner" passwords allow the owner to restrict printing and copying from the PDF file once it is open.

Often, PDFs will have both levels of protection. One password allows you to open the PDF, but if it is "owner" protected, you can't print it.

Utilities such as PDF Prime allow you to remove Owner passwords only. If you can't open the PDF file in the first place, this program won't help you.

Mary Wilson Really wished I had found this last semester for school as instructor gave a lot of individual PDF files to read as it works really nicely. Also tried to break apart a file and had no problem. Password is normally not a problem on most of the files I work with.

Tazzie I hope you bring this back ... I have been trying for a while and I keep getting a Server Error in '/' Application page when I click on the buy button. Sigh.
