Michael User Downloaded, run and get the activation screen. When I click on `Get Free Activation Key' however, I receive an error message - "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application."
Anyone have a fix for this?

eduardo User here is ok, download, install, link to register page and ok.
About the program : is more or less.. the edge lines, blurring for best cut. but you have a lot work to select, no automatic like that.

I've tried everything to obtain my registration key but have been unable to get further than GET FREE ACTIVATION KEY.

Don Reed These deals steadily make no damn sense and it's getting worse. The provided directions read like they were created by a poor automated translator. They appear to be directing one on how to get "the window to input the key," NOT about getting the KEY itself. You'd think it would be important to make sure these offers go off without a hitch if they expect the average Joe to have confidence they will be able to use the product without a hassle and enjoy it enough to want to buy an expanded version. Half the time anymore I have to uninstall it before I can try it because somebody dropped the ball and didn't provide a foolproof method to implement it. I gave up on 'Giveaway for the Day," and this the last straw for BDJ. I'm out.

Norwel Gordon Installation failed on Windows 7-64.
"Runtime Error at 19:411:"
Error message said "connection to server was terminated abnormally"
On every attempt.

Is anyone addressing these reported problems?

Judi Podgurski Thanks, but nope...I even made sure the name of the program was as stated in the instructions, and re-installed. There is just no registration information making its way to me. I have also e-mailed the company website, but have received no reply. Too bad for me I guess.

pw3000 Same problem as Norwel Gordon, Runtime error at 19:411,
after disabling all software that would prevent installation.

(don't understand why valid, safe, properly written software should require that anyway).

Another hour of my life wasted with software that has not been properly tested by author.

Matthew User This is a piece of shit software, to say the least. The simple fact that a registration number was not supplied, shows the level of quality in the work. I just removed the damned code before looking further. Stick with good stuff.

pw3000 I have set Avast to allow SoftOrbits Background Remover Setup to permit All connections and all ports.... Same result

Turned all 5 Avast shields off, ran setup with same result.....

Runtime Error (at 19:411):

WinHttp.WinHttpRequest: The connection with the server was terminated abnormally.

There seems to be a problem with the BackgroundRemover_Setup_pt3.tmp creating a file in C:\users\xxx\AppData\local\Temp\is-?????.tmp that changes it's name everytime you run setup. Cannot set an system exemption for a program that keeps changing the name every time it runs.

Removed from system.

Nader User There is no registration email from developers! it's just trial version, also i used the trial and it's worse program for background remover.
BitduJour is a good website, i hope doesn't allow to the developers like this to communicate on this site.

Cooler I Installed this and got the key after jumping thru hoops. Got confirmation email from SoftOrbits and funny enough, it includes a line "Your email address has not been shared with Softorbits.", but not working unsubscribe link!

Software starts spamming windows ("rate us and get free software", download AI model", etc.) and apparently does it again at every time software is launced.

Also, it quietly installs an extra app from SoftOrbis... and that's immediately a red flag! Uninstalling the extra app quietly uninstalled the main Background Remover app, too. That was good, because I already had enough of it and it saved me some work.

Now I only have to find out how I can leave SoftOrbit mailing list, where my address was apparently put and after that I'm going to block all communication/data exchange from/to SoftOrbis.

It's been quite a while since I had this poor experience with any software.

ouialaraison Like most SoftOrbits programs, this one installs by authority on the C: disk, leaving no choice. This is no longer acceptable now that many computers run on multiple disks. Uninstalled.

Cooler Oops... I have to correct myself: Removing the extra app that came with this did not FULLY uninstall this! Instead it removed this only partially and from installed apps list, making removal of the rest PITA. I had to be forcefully removed, because uninstaller did not work anymore correctly.

Also... I found Python was installed as well, with a launcher. Pythons uninstaller crashed and was not able to do its job, while launcher uninstalled just fine. Was this installer combined with softorbits one or why the uninstaller did not wrok, I have no idea.

Seriously... do authors still try to sneak in hidden payloads at these days?!
Note to all authors: Be open what your app installs and make sure all the extras are removed when app in uninstalled!

After this experience a full malware & AV scans were in order, as partial ones seemed adequate. Thankfully nothing seems to be amiss now.
