What are people saying about PhotoImp

Louis H Question...

Per the BDJ Ad Copy above it states....

"Looking to upgrade? Check it out folks, today you can also purchase PhotoImp at a significant 55% discount. The paid version has lifetime updates and support as well as personal and commercial usage."

But per the License for the program at

http://www.photoimp.info/license.txt

it states...

11. Upgrades

11.1. Minor version updates - free. Use your serial number and username to register updated version.
11.2. Major version 60% off from regular price. Contact developers for 60% coupon.

Could you clarify if the "Lifetime updates" in the BDJ Ad Copy refers only to "minor version updates" or to "Major version" changes as well?

Thanks.

I understand that the other differences, clearer to understand in the current Ad Copy and The Fine Print, are that the paid version includes the license for commercial use, whereas the Free version is for personal use only. Also the fine print does clarify that there is no support guaranteed with the Free version.

P.S. For the record... I went ahead and purchased the program at the 55% discount. It is certainly worth $12.82 (USD) to me to support the future development of this one.

Quill Pen This is getting to be quite a saturated field with lots of free and low cost choices. (not complaining, mind you... the more the merrier!)
PhotoImp's website screen shots suggest its GUI is similar to but perhaps less confusing for some to navigate than other free and quite powerful competing software, e.g., Zoner and Irfanview. Sure hope the non-Facebook download process works for me.

Dmitry Goncharenko @Louis H Yes, sorry, this misunderstanding already solved. Now you have lifetime free upgrades and support, like we offer for all our software. Check the updated license. The license in the software installation will be updated nearest time.

We respect all our competitors, but most of polular image viewers and simple editors have something in common: slowly loosing simplicity and getting more powerful with each release. It's great from one side and ...

Hop? we will find balance and getting more powerful inside with keeping absolute visual simplicity.

From my personal experience - I hate sorting photos. You know this situation: atleast one-two hundreds of photos from one trip (last time 950 shots done by friends of mine). I will keep only 10-20, so need something to preview and delete a lot of photos without spending boring hours. Thats how idea of PhotoImp started.

Louis H Thank you, Dmitry. I had the feeling that it was Lifetime, but thought it would be good to get clarification. As I mentioned in my other post, with or without Lifetime updates, it was worth the very small amount for the full program.

And it is wonderful for fast sorting of photos. I can accomplish the basic adjustments and then always move to another editor if I desire more extensive options. Photoshop (and others) are wonderful for such needs, but sometimes I simply need to quickly sort and make basic adjustments. PhotoImp is going to serve that need.

Thank you for arranging the giveaway here on BDJ. Even more, however, thank you for a very nice discount for those of us desiring to have lifetime updates. I can see where this program is going and now is a good time to get on board to insure the future updates and revisions are free!!!

Quill Pen I agree, Dmitry. I have all the image organizers mentioned, same with numerous image manipulation programs... some have become so complex as to be unwieldy so like Louis I end up opening the simpler editor for quick work or just for viewing. Thanks for offering PhotoImp here!

Thank you for your opinion, it's inspiring. We'll keep as simple as possible.

Anyway, in a version 2.0 you will have more accurate editor and perfect watermarking features (we think it is perfect:) ). Release date: middle of October, latest - 1st of November.

Version 3.0 main features: export to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and some more services. Release date is not clear yet, but we hope to finish this in the Jan 2014.

Does anyone know how this software (PhotoImp) compares with IrfanView?

Thanks in advance for your helpful comments! :

Tortuga Would be interested in buying, particularly after Quill's comment, as I'm looking for good performance *and* simple! Have a few questions:
1) Is there also a portable version available? I prefer using portable software
2) Where is the changelog page?
3) Before buying an app I always try to find information & background abt the company. But can't find anything relevant abt this company, e.g. where is it located, address, phone, etc. I have searched the several sites your company has & cant find anywhere *any* information. Only contact forms or eMails ...
TIA

Dewebmeester NL In what sense does it differ from Picasa, Zoner, built in windows import, imageviewer from Windows or native camera software? Think this takes just a piece of my hard disk without really adding something.

M. Pfeiffer I have this program only few minutes, but it's already deleted because
- no option to use the file date for folders
- no import mts files
- no file selection before you import

or I don't foud this options

We can make it portable, but I can't promise you concrete dates. Watermarks and publishing to Facebook is on higher priority. (Anyway -I like portable too :) )

Our current website is quite simple, we are working on new one right now (thats will be photoimp.com). It will contain all change logs and detailed product and company information.

Tortuga Can anybody confirm M.Pfeiffer findings?? Or maybe the options do exist but are hidden away or deep nested in menus somewhere?
(As I'm away from the PC, I'm unable to install, so can't verify)
@Dmitry: Thank you for your reply. Can you at least tell what is the version/date given away here?

Louis H I cannot find any option for the three things M. Pfeiffer mentioned. Of course that does not mean that Dimitry won't add them into later versions. Dimitry?

The File Date and File Selection options would be nice. I do not use mts files so I, personally speaking, do not need that option. It handles, so far, all of my jpg and raw files.

It works for what I need and it does so, currently, much faster than any of my other current graphic programs. It is a simply program that can help me improve the speed with which I then choose which images to take into something like Photoshop for more advanced processing. It is the simplicity that won me over.

Peter C1 Hi Dmitry Goncharenko, I have just walked in from working a very long shift & sat down at the PC and noticed your very interesting program.

Only problem is I do not have time to trial it before the 55% OFF offer expires in approximately 10 minutes time.

Question: I would like to install the program and have a play around with it to see if it's right for my needs, BUT, I had a quick look in "The Fine Print" tab and couldn't see any mention of Your companies REFUND POLiCY, so ... Are you a little bit flexible on the expiry time offered for the 55% OFF offer?
