Virus Scan for PicaJet FX

Mitch K I downloaded and installed the 15 day trial. When the program launches, I get a "Data Execution Prevention" dialog which states " To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program. Name: Picajet-The digital picture organizer. Publisher: Picajet.com."

Not sure what to do now. Any help getting the software to run would be appreciated.

Does it allow you to easily see .NEF files w/o having to open Adobe CS or Lightroom to view pics?

Murat Korkmazov You need to manage NEF files I suggest you to check out our free Daminion: http:///daminion.net

This is a powerful version of the PicaJet that optimized to manage NEF files:
- You can write metadata directly into the NEF files (and optionally to .xmp sidecars)
- Daminion displays Camera Lens and Color Label info for NEF files
- You can simultaneously use Daminion along with View/Capture NX, and changes in View/Capture NX can be automatically reflected in Daminion and vice versa. For example if you'll set a Red label to an image in View NX you can see it in Daminion, and then if you'll set a blue label in Daminion you can see it in View NX.
- Daminion can see the adjusted NEF files, thanks to support for built-in JPEG Previews. And you'll an adjusted NEF preview in Daminion as you can see it in View/Capture NX
- Daminion supports color profiles. Daminion will correctly displays your photos taken in AdobeRGB color space.

- a lot of other improvements...

PS. There is a minor bug in the latest Daminion version with displaying rotated NEF images, but bug has already been fixed and a new version with the bug-fix will be available on this week.

Is PicaJet updated/upgraded any longer or do current customer have to switch to Daminion and pay again? If later is true, what is the discount for current PicaJet-buyers?

Scott Youngman I'm surprised that PicaJet FX is still being sold. There was significant development of PJ from 2004 to 2007 (up to version 2.5). The latest version (2.6) was released in April 2010 -- since then, nothing. The user support forum has been inactive for several years. Bugs causing hangs and crashes reported there have not been fixed -- as I can confirm from a recent installation of the latest version of PJ FX on Win7. Big disappointment and waste of time. I recommend you have a look at the PJ "Problems and Troubleshooting" user forum before giving them any of your money. "Irresponsible" is the word that keeps coming to my mind.

Murat Korkmazov Michael, with Daminion you can import 50k files per one local catalog maximally. There are no differences between Pro and Std on functionality level.

Scott Youngman @ Danny Thys: I recommend you install the trial version of PJ FX to see if you experience the hanging problem(s) which others have reported and which hasn't been fixed in several years. Then ask yourself if you are satisfied with the functions and feature set as it is now, because PJ won't be developed any further. Or consider whether the included upgrade to Daminion will suit your needs (see the link in my first comment, above).
