Ah, remember those days when we used to talk of the "paperless office"? It never really came true, did it? Even today, when you give a PowerPoint presentation, a lot of times you find yourself handing out a printed copy of the presentation slides so people can follow along.

The only problem, and this is true whether you distribute printed copies or not, is that your audience never really gets a feel for where your presentation is going, and they need to wait until you actually pull up a slide and talk about it. A Table of Contents would help immensely, but there's no native support in PowerPoint for it, and if you make the brave attempt to create your own TOC, you find that it's hard to keep up, because you need to manually edit it every time you add, delete, or modify your slides.

PowerTOC is here to bring joy into the lives of PowerPoint users everywhere. Using PowerTOC, you can automatically create an accurate Table of Contents for your PowerPoint presentations with a single click. Updating your presentation? No worries - just run PowerTOC again and have a fully updated Table of Contents ready to go in a flash! Your PowerTOC-driven Table of Contents is inserted right at the beginning of your presentation.

PowerTOC is highly flexible, and you can customize how the application creates your Tables of Content. You can include or exclude Title slides, configure Tables of Content to span two columns, or more than one slide, and exclude specific slides from the TOC. When it's all set up to your liking, you can save the entire customized configuration and never have to tweak it again. Your presentations will be more effective than ever before, thanks to the wonderful summaries that you create with PowerTOC!

HJ B Once this program creates the table of contents, does the table become a permanent part of the PowerPoint presentation, i.e., if the PowerPoint presentation is used on a computer that does not have this program installed, will the table of contents be functioning?

Manuel Onate The table of contents or the agendas are normal slides, so they will be shown on any computer, but will only update if PowerTOC is installed.

With respect to the styling, PowerTOC has many options:

- You can use one or two columns
- You can define exactly where the columns are layout on the slide
- You can define the font to be used and the spacing between lines

The only problem is that PowerPoint is not a typesetting program, so very long lines will not wrap well. This is mostly a PowerPoint limitation and there is very little we can do.

Khalil User The description states that it works with:
Platforms: Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, 2003
and last update was around two years ago...

What about Windows 10 or 11 compatibility and
what about compatibility newer version of Office?

Exactly which Office versions does it work with today?

Manuel Onate The description on the website is not updated. The software works on Windows 10 and 11 and is compatible with the latest Office version.

HJ B I think what you are saying is that your program has yet to figure out how to overcome the apparent formatting restraints of PowerPoint.

None of the formatting options you give solves:
a) the problem of a long title that a user has given to a slide. There are ways to cure that problem, including making the user making the title shorter.

b) the problem of many slides, that show up past the bottom of the TOC slide your program creates. The only solution for this would be for your program to anticipate the issue, and have an algorithm that creates two or more TOC slides to accommodate the overage. Or the user can take the time to do so (which reduces the utility of your program.

Your program is a good idea, but not yet ready for reliable quick use. While you try to solve the problems, you might have a note for users that describes the limitations and possible ways to overcome them.

Manuel Onate Thank you for your message.

I believe PowerTOC already does the two things you mention.

1) It lets you add different titles
2) Has the option to create multiple TOC slides, if desired

I hope it helps.

No Thank You NOT WORKING! Purchased this and received registration code, but the software is not accepting the user name that was provided by the vendor.

I've written to the vendor yesterday (via the online contact form) but have not received a response!
