carl thorpe This deal is past, so it's unlikely anyone will see this, but I would like to point out that the MIT license that the windows version of PuTTY is released under explicitly gives permission for anyone to redistribute or sell the software.

So there's nothing illegal or even unethical about this company recompiling PuTTY for mac and selling it.

Tom User We spent a full month fixing compile / porting issues, bugs e.g dock support. And all we want to do is earn a living doing this. My suggestion is for the people wanting a free version to go to college for 6-8 years and then port it their selves and give it away for free. The code is free and all the issues and bugs that come with it are also free :)

Tom User Putty is LGPL software, so your more then welcome to download the source and compile it yourself and save $5.00

You will need to fix some compiler bugs on osx 10.11 or higher, fix docking support, and work around numerous font issues once you have that fixed you can then give away your work for free.
