Robert Bull - Your Web site says "Convert macros to programs (exe files) that can run on computers without QM." Please, does the license permit a registered user to give compiled macros to other people?
- License policy says "Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product." Please, does that mean for the current major version, or for any future version?

Gintaras Didzgalvis - does the license permit a registered user to give compiled macros to other people?

Yes. Exe files created with registered Quick Macros are normal exe files without any limitations.

- does that mean for the current major version, or for any future version?

For any future version.

Amit I like the capability of this but i have the question that is it easy to use - to create ur own macros ?

As from the screenshots and some going thru - on the site, it looks a bit complex.

1) So is it easy to use or a takes a bit time to get accommodated to ?

2) What i really like is that we can create toolbars and menus - all custom. But my que is can we create any no. of toolbars and menus ? - Say 1 for notepad, one for firefox, one for explorer, and so on - for every different window or app ?

Or is it that we can create only 1 toolbar and 1 menu in all for the whole desktop ?

3) Can there be multiple toolbars on the desktop - 1 snapped to the right edge of the desktop, 1 visible all-time etc. Or just 1 ?

4) Also - MY PREFERRED FAVORITE - Can we make a macro to run from say, double rightclick, or triple rightclick, and also set different macro to run for these 2 actions, depending on the active window - means different macro to run if the active window is notepad and diff. for explorer.

5) Is the license tied to the user (can be used on how many pcs or laptops i personally own) ?

Thanks for making this good app, although, seems has much capability.

Gintaras Didzgalvis Hi Amit,

1. For simple-to-automate tasks it is easy. You can record keys-mouse, and use dialogs to add often used commands. For more complex tasks will need learning. Also you can always ask in the forum.

2, 3. You can create any number of toolbars and menus. Eg 1 for notepad, 2 for firefox, 1 autohidden at the right edge, 1 always visible somewhere.

4. Double rclick yes, triple no. Multiple macros can have same trigger that works in different programs, eg double click launches macro1 in notepad, macro2 in explorer, and so on.

5. Yes, if you have several computers, use 1 registration code on all computers.

John McConchie In the macro program I currently use, which is much less capable thatn QM, I can type the letter "g" (obviously without the quotation marks), then press F2 (which I have set up as the trigger key for all macros) and Google appears in my browser. I looked into QM, saw what it said about text macros, but ended up believing that the use of text based triggers will only allow for text substitution macros. Can QM replicate what I can now do to quickly get Google up on my desktop in my browser by simply typing one letter followed by a pressing of a univeral trigger key? I would love to hear today because I will buy this if I get a postive answer.

ron r This macro tool is amazing BUT it will take some time to adjust to scripting language used to build macro's

There is also a record actions option but it's true raw power comes from building your own macros and compile them to exe.

This macro tool gives me the feeling it can do just about anything, no holds barred macro power!

The only I really need is a big example section for beginners in the form of an pdf, html help file or movies? A collection of beginner snippets would also be very welcome. The help elements provided within quick macros combined with the forum will give you a start but even then it is not beginner friendly.

But don't let that deter you, put some effort into it and you have macro tool that:
- records
- lets you build from the ground up
- gives you the option to compile to exe

And that for this prize, thanks!!
(any extra source of beginner = welcome!!)

Gintaras Didzgalvis I tested these programs in the past, but don't use them now, therefore cannot say exactly what are the differences. If compared with AHK, QM has more convenient user interface. But AHK is more popular, eg more active forum. If compared with RoboTask, QM is more powerful (when I tested), for example you can easily use all Windows API. But RoboTask probably is easier to learn and has more UI.

Karl M. Gintaras,

thank you for sending a temporary registration code.

Yes, RoboTask is easier to learn but my feeling is too that Quick Macros is more powerful. And RoboTask is much to expensive.

ron r This macro tool is !extremely! powerful and can almost anything if you put the time into it. You are not "confined" to developing macros, the macros themselves can be made so complex they border more on mini applications than to be called "macro's"

Everything is packed into one environment and the IDE has some really smart en helpful features.

At 40$ it is a very good deal, at 20$ a must have.
(generous license, can create EXE,...)

I have tried several macro tools and I got really suprised that one of the most powerful macro tools was offered here on BDJ (I never expected this to happen here on BDJ).

The only "downside" is that it takes more time to get to learn to create macros with QM compared to some other macro tools.
But if you stick to it, you'll see how powerful it is and it can almost be addictive just to see what you can do with this...

And I always get fast and helpful response in the QM forum.
And the license doesn't constrict you like some other programs do, the author of QM is actually quite generous.

But this is just my 2 cents.

Retired Engineer A question about mouse macros.

In all other similar macro tools I've used, when I create a mouse macro the mouse cursor is not moved to the final mouse position, where it is when I create the macro.

Does QM support movement of the cursor to where I expect to see it?

write outputvariable to outputfile

Gintaras Didzgalvis It's possible with functions of File class, or with Windows API functions. But usually it is easier to read whole file into a variable (getfile), process lines and write to a file (setfile). Will need to write code; there are no dialogs that create such code.
quickmacros - Feb 3 2013 at 10:13am Copy Link

Gintaras Didzgalvis Code example:
str s1 s2 s ;;variables
s1.getfile("file1")
foreach s s1 ;;for each line
,out s ;;show in QM output
,s2.addline(s)
s2.setfile("file2")

Example with CSV:
ICsv c1._create c2._create
c1.FromFile("file1")
int i; str s0
for i 0 c1.RowCount
,s0=c1.Cell(i 0)
,out s0
,c2.AddRowSA(-1 1 &s0)
c2.ToFile("file2")

The Oneiros "The evaluation period has expired".
How???

And a real, important question: can't find a word on 'mouse wheel support'. Is there one? If not, is it possible or planned?

Is there a way to program a sequence like
mov 1 - x / perform some tasks
mov 2 - x+ 2 / perform other tasks
mov 3 - x+ 3 / perform other tasks
mov 4 - x+ 4 / perform other tasks, finish the sequence, loop to 1

being 'x' a screen coordinate and (+ y) an offset value?

Currently I use Easy Macro Recorder and XYplorer (with or without combinations between them) to automate several tasks. It's a winner except for those occasions where mouse wheel movement should be recorded.

Thanks.

Jim Parker Have you ever done a comparison between Quick Macros and Macro Express Pro ( http://www.macros.com )?
The two pieces of software seem very similar. Since I'm already licensed with Macro Express I'd like to hear about differences to see if there are features QM does that ME doesn't. I don't have time to do a trial while this is on sale, so am really interested to see what types of comparisons you've already done.
Feb 4 2013 at 10:55am Copy Link

Gintaras Didzgalvis I did not test recent versions.

One of main differences of Quick Macros and many other macro programs like Macro Express is that QM is not limited to the predefined set of macro commands. It is a fusion of a macro program and a programming language. QM fully supports API and COM. If you don't find a function for something, you can create it (need some programming skills), or may find in the forum, or request to be created for you (in the forum).

D Taylor I'm sure that I'm already going to purchase, but want to get clarification on the licensing.

In the Fine Print tab it states (3rd bullet item):
"Each license allows installation on a single computer and a laptop, but Quick Macros may not be used at exactly the same time on each of them."

But further down it (3rd bullet from the bottom) has a link to "Review the Full License details..". After clicking this link, section 2 of License Agreement states:
"A registered copy of the software may either be used by a single person who uses the software personally on up to 5 computers, or used on a single computer by multiple people nonsimultaneously."

So, which is it 2 or 5? I just want to make sure that I purchase the correct number of licenses.

Many thanks!

Roberto @D Taylor

Look at Quick Macros website:

Can I use Quick Macros on my 2 computers with same registration code? Or 1 at home and 1 at work?

A. Yes, if only you use these computers. Read Quick Macros license agreement. Here "you" means "you and your family members". Don't give your registration code to others, as it may be disabled.

I think few developers are so kind with their licenses, IMHO any customer doing a fair use should not be worried.
Feb 4 2013 at 12:52pm Copy Link
0
Gintaras Didzgalvis The later is more correct.

If you purchase a license for yourself, you and your family members can use it on all your 5 personal computers, possibly simultaneously.

But if you purchase a license for a company, everybody in the company cannot use single license.

Just a standard license.

Gintaras Didzgalvis Nobody can learn everything, quickly. But to start using simpler things you don't have to learn much. For example, start from recording, using code dialogs, editing something in the code. When you need something more, you can find/try/learn it. To find info, use the "Search Help and tools" feature. Use forum.

Gintaras Didzgalvis These portable extensions work, but they are not optimized, for example uses registry, temporary files on the PC, uses various workarounds. Also they are not enough tested. And not very easy to use. I would recommend to wait for the 'native' version. Should be released until summer.

Frank Stephens bvssunnydale, there are a great many Windows macro/automation packages. Quick Macros is one which uses its own programming language. Those can be powerful, but hard to learn and use. I never need Windows automation, but I prefer WinAutomation for ease-of-use. The really easy way is to record a macro and then replace most of it with guided scripting. The downside is that it's expensive. Most people don't need the Professional edition, but if you do, it's really expensive. You should have only one macro / automation package installed at a time, they can interfere with each other. Quick Macros is available at a great price, but is up against heavy competition. I could be like others and get a copy "just in case", but I'll probably never use it, so it would make more sense to buy it if and when I need it.

Roberto WinAutomation is easier to learn, but maybe quite less powerful and "slower" than QM, WA lacks of important features like forms, toolbars creation, and its a closed macro "language" (just choose actions from the gui).

I own WA pro but when i want a fast macro I use QM. Just check the launch time speed of both programs, QM works like a charm.

I have AHK installed too, but i'm not fluent with it (awesome software is created with AHK too).

IMHO, quick macros is a must have.

If yes, then i would do my little helper programs with QM.

Gintaras Didzgalvis Yes, you can create dialogs with the dialog editor.

Working with simple controls such as edit, button, checkbox, combobox is quite easy.

You can also use any other controls, eg listview, tab control, but for it will need API-level programming (all reference is in MSDN Library).

Multiple pages supported. Menus supported, although currently there is no visual editor.

All info about creating dialogs is in the Help file. Many examples in the forum. All the floating toolbar dialogs are created in this way; the source code is in the System folder in QM. No videos.

George Butel Can I set it up to do something like this easily: suppose I've ripped a cd, and forgot to set the naming to [artist] - [track name], and it came out as [track number] - [track name]. Can I set up a macro to go through the files and change all the [track numbers] in the file names to [artist] (or whatever else I choose)?

DroidLuvr @Gintaras Didzgalvis:

I tried to purchase your software yesterday, with the lifetime option, but I received a "review needed" for my order from Share-It as some comments above have also mentioned.

I didn't worry about it much, as that has happened to me here before, and I have always gotten a confirmation within a few hours. However, this morning, I received a notice that my order was cancelled (reason unknown...) Today, I attempted to reorder and received the same notice. I have been in contact with Share-It, but have not yet been able to resolve this matter.

I'm afraid to reorder again as I don't want multiple charges piling up, but I also don't want to lose the opportunity to buy at your awesome discount here! Do you have any suggestions for me?

Thank you -- for this offer and for helping with my problem paying for it!

Steven Avery Hi,

Here is a question. Clipboard and Paste software varies as to RTF (rich text format, color font, capabilities).

How about macro software ? If you want to use it to paste in RTF it has no native method ? You would have to have the text stored or created somewhere for the macro to handle ? Is this a practical limitation on some types of use ? Is it the same for almost all macro software ?

I realize this does not affect a lot of normal use, such as filling in web forms. However, inquiring minds.

Your program does look good, and the forum is fine.

Gintaras Didzgalvis Need to explicitly specify that you want to copy or paste in RTF format.

str s ;;variable
s.getsel(0 "Rich Text Format") ;;copy RTF
s.setsel("Rich Text Format") ;;paste RTF

Steven Avery Hi,

Nice response. Thanks Thinking.

Ok went for it. I had long considered that I should do stuff with AutoHotkey or this and that, however yours looks like a nice middle ground, easy interface, forum, good license etc. so that you made the commercial product more than acceptable.

Checked the Donationcoder discussion too, they did not say much, but did confirm solid, a bit opaque on the language, (which is always true with a good language), but a generally fine alternative, especially in an area where many of the programs are fairly high $$. Looks like a nice balance.

Watcher1924 In "THE FINE PRINT" you say:

"Each license allows installation on 5 computers, but Quick Macros may not be used at exactly the same time on each of them".

If we use the portable edition can we use it anywhere and on how many computers at the same time?

Are you going to implement functions to find images and to find pixels or check the colour and the position of a pixel?

Is there a function dedicated to read and write .ini files?
Aug 14 2013 at 5:39am Copy Link
0
Gintaras Didzgalvis The license statement is not full. Append " by multiple users". A single license allows you and your family to use Quick Macros on 1-5 computers at the same time. You can install portable Quick Macros on any number of USB devices, and use on 1-5 computers at the same time, anywhere.

There are functions to find image, color etc. Look in floating toolbar - Windows, controls.

To read/write .ini, use functions rget/rset.

Laurent Darrambide I especially registered at BitDuJour to support Gintaras and its software.

I use it everyday and for many purposes on my laptop for many years. I manage at every boot about 20 tasks under Windows 8.

It's a money safer because the program is cheap (even non discounted, the price is nothing compared to the efficience involved) and prevents buying softwares because some code lines in QM solves immediate problems.

Besides the wonderful program, Gintaras offers premium support for free on the QM forum, almost 365/365 and 24/24h. I used it a lot and never found an unanswered thread or problem raised left behind.

It the first and one program I install on my laptop after reinstallation.

Go with it, won't regret any bucks in it. Even at full price, buy it, as licence is lifetime one. (Even if it changes, i'll pay for upadtes-upgrades)

Thanks again, Gintaras

Watcher1924 What is the name of the language? Does it have any advantages in comparison to other programming languages (proprietary or not)? How often will we have to write code?
Aug 15 2013 at 9:11am Copy Link

Gintaras Didzgalvis The language is used only in Quick Macros and does not have a name. It is an ordinary language and does not have significant advantages or disadvantages. It was created to be easy for non-programmers, but also allows to use programming features such as classes and Windows API.
When you start using Quick Macros, you can automate many (easy) tasks almost without writing code. You can record keyboard and mouse, and use dialogs to create code for often used functions. Of course often then you have to edit the code. Later you'll probably want to use more and more functions, and it means more and more writing code.

Aug 15 2013 at 10:56am Copy Link

Gintaras Didzgalvis Can use PayPal.

Accessible object functions will not work with most popup menus when the popup menu is invisible. Instead try to record menu commands: in Quick Macros window click menu Tools / Record Other / Menu Command. If want to capture a menu item, at first capture some visible object near it, then in the object tree find and select the menu item. If cannot find, it would definitely not work.

Are you the one who has done the programming?
Aug 15 2013 at 12:21pm Copy Link

Gintaras Didzgalvis The menu recorder records menu item id. Then the macro posts menu command message that works like if you click the menu item.
The 'Find accessible object' dialog shows a tree of all objects in a window. You can select an object with the Drag tool and then optionally select other object from the tree.

Mark Johnson I am trying to convert a bunch of macros from Macro Express to Quick Macros and don't see how to do it.
The macros all use 'Shortkeys' for activation, and it is the activation that I am not finding a way to do in Quick Macros.

In Macro Express, a 'Shortkey' activation is a sequence of keystrokes that activates a macro.
I have all the Shortkey macros starting with a comma (,) and then one or more letters. I use the comma because normally a space comes after a comma, so if text comes after the comma instead it can trigger a macro.

Example macro triggers:
,ic
,si
,ne
,nb

How do I achieve this in Quick Macros? I seem to be only able to create a hotkey macro which can consist of at most 2 keys, not one that consists of multiple consecutive keys? I am trying to replace Macro Express with Quick Macros, but if I'm not able to do multiple key triggers that is a deal buster.

Thanks,
Mark.

Gintaras Didzgalvis In Quick Macros this feature is named "Autotext".
Look in menu File / New / New Autotext List.
A single list can be used instead of multiple macros.
Example:

/b/i/c/p3
ic :"replacement1"
si :"replacement2"
ne :"replacement3"
nb :"replacement4"

Trigger should be Autotext, and its prefix text comma.

Excellent program that I'm glad to have in my toolbox.

Gintaras Didzgalvis Autotext lists cannot be compiled into an EXE. Only macros and functions. Autotext and other triggers are unavailable in EXE, because EXE runs and exits, ant there is nothing to watch for trigger events, such as user-typed text.

Mark Johnson Gintaras - I tried your recommendation on the Autotext list and with some tweaking was able to get it to work. However, to get it to work as desired (no delimiter or ctrl needed after the text is typed) I found that I had to use
/b/i/c
instead of
/b/i/c/p3

I don't understand from the instructions or from trial what the difference is between /p1 and /p3 -- it seems they both do the same thing.

But anyway... I've now found how to convert everything from Macro Express to Quick Macro, and purchased QM. Thanks for a fine product!

Watcher1924 @Steven Avery, thanks for the morning cold shower!! I changed three colours when you made me think that I had not purchased a complete version.

@Gintaras, in order to use the various demos already shown in the program do we have to download any resources? I have started few of them and some stop.
e.g. in the tips window I clicked the "Creating macros" folder (not something inside this folder). In the text window, beside, it says:
"You create a macro for each task you want to automate. To create new macro, click the New Macro button on the toolbar, and type a name in the small field that appears at the top of the list.

Play demo"

I click on the demo and it says that it will create a macro that runs Notepad and writes some text. When the demo reaches the point where - in the "Wait" window - it clicks on the "Wait for window active" it stops and in the output window says "Error (RT) in Demo_WaitDialog: child window not found. ? "

Any sugestions?

I have ver. 2.3.6.4 installed in XP home edition SP2

Watcher1924 This is a new, stable version. Even without the discount the price is very good plus you get ***lifetime*** upgrades and the license for commercial usage (check "THE FINE PRINT", above)! Plus creation of exe files and portable capabilities. If you are interested in automation software don't even consider to not try this gem; you owe it to your self. If you're not interested, it's a matter of time before you will be. @Laurent Darrambide has put it in few words, regarding this program, in the old comments here ( http://www.bitsdujour.com...ntId=68369 ) (or another user here http://www.softpedia.com/...6563,.html ) but you should definitely visit the program's site to get an overview of the features: http://www.quickmacros.com/ http://www.quickmacros.com/features.html How many times have you wished for a program to perform some of its tasks in somewhat different ways, more convinient to you - or objectively better (because, let's face it, you often get the feeling that the developer wasn't thinking of the user's convinience)? How many times you wished it had some more buttons or keyboard shortcuts or more features? A good automation program can help you cope with many such issues, sometimes in direct and sometimes in indirect ways. It can counterbalance some of the "bad behaviors" of programs. It can perform repeatitive and tedious tasks. It prevents you of wrist panes and can save you time, effort, tranquilizers (although sometimes can make you spend more of the latter, but it's most possibly due to a user's mistake). It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that sometimes it feels like it is producing money. One of the effects of the use of Quick Macros for me is that I rarely feel the need to run some of the utilities or programs I used to have running constantly (e.g. my TTS or shutdown or zipping ones) because it has helped me substitute some of their features - more advanced users can substitute many more. ...Tons and tons and tons(!!!) of features.... They are waiting to help you accomplish your tasks. When I was trying or reading about automation programs my first concern was to find out if they had two specific features. Quick Macros has them but it took me a long time (you wouldn't believe me) before I felt the need to use them because it has several other features that get the job done. It's worth investing some time to learn it better and don't be afraid of the many features and options (both of them contributing to the high versatility); you don't have to learn how to use them all at once. For many things you can use the various dialogs and the program is well documented. @Gintaras has put a lot of work in this program (the documentation alone must have been a huge task!). Plus he is very responsive at the forums. @Gintaras Didzgalvis wrote: “The language is used only in Quick Macros and does not have a name. It is an ordinary language and does not have significant advantages or disadvantages. It was created to be easy for non-programmers, but also allows to use programming features such as classes and Windows API. Of course often then you have to edit the code. Later you'll probably want to use more and more functions, and it means more and more writing code.” Some other features (copied from the site): Convert macros to programs (exe files) that can run on computers without QM. Add custom toolbars to windows. Auto-hide toolbars. Custom popup menus. Text autocompletion or replacement as you type an abbreviation in any application. Macro code editor with syntax highlighting. Information features. Debugging. Run QM from a USB drive as a portable app. Run macros on other network computers. Extend QM. Add new functions, classes, triggers, use various libraries. More...( http://www.quickmacros.com/features.html ) Note: You can define the transpanency, the position and the dimensions of the toolbars. Also - I don’t know how to use it but - it can compile and execute C# and VB.NET code. You can create dialogs. It can control other program’s windows (activate, make always-on-top, minimize, resize etc.). You can use mouse gestures(!) to control the windows or trigger macros. It can display text or/and picture on the screen. “can get mouse and text cursor position, can wait for specified cursor, get or waitfor CPU usage %, get disk usage %. To get process CPU usage, look for GetProcessCpuUsage in forum. To find other functions, use the 'Find help, functions, tools' tool in the main window.” Some details that are important to many users: small file size loads very quickly (even in my very-very slow machine) small memory footprint beautiful GUI polished very practical - when you get used to the interface and all these tools you will feel like you are operating a fine instrument. ...Plus a powerful and versatile one. You can get more resources and solutions in the forums. For example I have found a function that detects the buttons of joystick/gamepad controllers and can trigger macros accordingly (although for my controller I will need some help). A couple of days ago I found an example of how to use VBScript or JScript to do arithmetic calculations. A Softpedia review: http://www.softpedia.com/...cros.shtml

Pedro Laurent I bought Quick Macros today and used it at work in portable mode, I can only say thank you to Gintaras Didzgalvis for making this software it's in my opinion worth more than the regular price and the discount for today is a bargain for what it does. I still need time to learn most of the function to really take full advantage. I wish there was a video tutorial since it looks very intimidating going thru all the interesting options it has. I will take the challenge to master this software. Any one still undecided don't wait you won't regret it!

Watcher1924 Not to be confused with other programs; the precise name is “Quick Macros” (the name has an "S" at the end).

Check out these candies the program offers (some of them need the Archive.qml file from the forum):

Sticky notes
(I don't know if the programmer and the guys in the forums have finished the sticky notes but it seems to work, at least as a demo.)

Features related to checking the colours of pixels.

Features related to finding specified images on the screen.

Transparent on-screen keyboard

Keyboard Detector:
If you have more than one keyboard, you can use this to make
keyboard-specific triggers. For example, F7 trigger that
works when you press F7 on your attached USB keyboard, but
does not work when you press F7 on your notebook keyboard.

Mouse gestures
(e.g. to control the windows or trigger macros)

Mouse Chords:
You press the first mouse button, which is common for all chords. You press the second mouse button, which is the trigger of the macro that you want to launch on mouse chord. You can also make Middle+Key triggers (eg Middle+A) and Middle+MouseMovement triggers, e.g. a trigger will be activated only within certain time period after the Middle mouse button was pressed.

Mouse triggers using LL hook

Two mouse pointers:
Creates two virtual pointers to be used by two mouses.
If there are two monitors, each pointer will be in its monitor.

Scheduled task functions

Power management triggers:
Starts macro after Windows returns from hibernate or standby mode. Can be extended for other system events.

Features related to processes management

Macros related to specific widely spreaded programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet Explorer, Firefox)

Creation of windows

and the list goes on and on...

BTW, some macros take into consideration the existance of more than one monitors or keyboards.

Heraldo Nice program, but some questions:
1) i tried trial program and there is, as i remember, a file "qmserv.exe" in windows services. So why you need this prog all the time in background (serv for server or service?) and would Quick Macros work correctly without it?
2) i mean, of course i have to trust the programmers and Quick Macros and it sounds a little bit paranoid, but how i can be sure, that no information and key logs, e.g. PayPal password, are transfered to somewhere?

Or lets say so: Does Quick Macros transfer some information to the company?

Thanks in advance!

Gintaras Didzgalvis 1. The service is used mostly to run Quick Macros main program with various integrity levels - admin, uiAccess. The default level is too limited, eg cannot automate admin windows, etc, etc. Also it is used for some trigger types, and more. The portable QM version runs without the service. The main QM version also could run without it, if you stop it, but with limitations.

2. Does not transfer. If in Options is checked "Check for new version", at startup connects to quickmacros.com to look for new version. It is unchecked by default. To be sure and secure, use software that monitors internet activity.

Dexter Bell Bought this yesterday and have been using it as a scripting plugin (well it is not a plugin but the effect is close) to my main plain text editor. The Regular Expression engine is one of the best and most complete I've seen. That along with a fairly easy scripting language (albeit a bit different from what I'm used to) I've made quick work of manipulating 2+ MB HTML files with thousands of conditional search and replace and moving sections (such as HTML divs) from one section of the HTM file to another. The program was fast, and rock solid.

I have also used it to scrape public domain data from web pages into both my text editor and web page editor what a finger saver.

Great stuff. I'm glad it is on BDJ not because of the discount but rather that I found the program. I would have gladly paid much more for it.

I have contacted the BDJ staff about this issue. I don’t say it’s his fault, of course (unless he used a recently purchased program to do some hacking ;) ) You can see his real comment in the following text:

“Really happy with this. I used to use TypeItIn before but the development is gone there and features are much more limited. This actually lets me search for an element in an application/webpage and click that instead of putting in hard values of the location. Love it!”

Gde Swart Brilliant program! I bought this the last time it was offered here at BDJ.
The learning curve is about average, maybe a little harder if you have zero scripting or programming experience, but the rewards are worth it so don't let that scare you away. The help and support have been excellent.
Quick Macros can be used to automate anything. It's a small program and very light on resources. Its easy to manage multiple scripts. Plus it can create a portable version and even let you create an .exe file of your script which will let you run it anywhere. This is a real winner! A++

Watcher1924 Any user that gets email notifications about new comments at the BDJ pages can see that the comment between the ones of @Roberto and @Heraldo doesn't belong to @Jeroen Heijster and it was sent by me. His comment appears in an email with the subject "New Comment on Quick Macros", that was sent on Friday, February 14th. If somebody uses this user name (Jeroen Heijster) in the search field of his email account he will probably find it. Normally, an email with my coment, too, must have been sent a little later that day.

Because my comment (with my name) was right bellow the comment that has his name (but my text), it seemed like I had copied from him. That's why I mentioned this issue here, at this page. Plus I contacted the BDJ staff about it and I got an answer that they will investigate it further. So, I have just been waiting, but today I saw that somebody decided to delete my comment and leave the other user's one, like it was written by him! @Jeroen Heijster, too, says that that isn't his text.

It's a straightforward macro recording tool that can record at menu/interface/browser -object level.

Amit What code will work for - insert key to Send keys to open tab in - opera when current active window is opera browser and duplicate tab when browser is firefox, while it shoulddo its normal function in all other windows. I saw that in all other windows, the key went errorful to be losing its home key functionality, even if it worked this way somehow in opera and firefox.

Also one thing is that have made macros and autotexts but want to erase all - this below texts from all autotextlists, which are inputted in all autotextlists with sample items. is there an easier way to maybe findandreplace all such text in all many made autotext lists -

---------------------
/b/i/c/p3

SIMPLE TEXT EXAMPLES
sim :'"simple text" ;;inserts simple text when you type sim and postfix (Ctrl, space, comma, Enter...)
simp :"paste text" ;;same as above, but uses clipboard instead of keys. If 'Hybrid paste' checked in Options, uses keys for short text, clipboard for long or multiline text.

FORMATTED TEXT EXAMPLES
dt :str s.timeformat("{DD} {T}"); key (s) ;;current date and time. To add the code, you can use the Text dialog from the floating toolbar.
inpn :if(inp(_i "a number")) key F"the number is {_i}" ;;manual text input

POPUP LIST EXAMPLE
If there are several matching items, shows a popup list. Select an item with mouse, Enter, Tab or a number key.
PL :'"list item 1"
PL :'"list item 2" ;;Label

mr User Hi, can you please explain if I can use this as a replacement for Phraseexpress?
I really really enjoy Phraseexpress, but it is quite pricey, and needs constant upgrades that adds to the price. I would buy it immediately if it fit my needs.
I use it mainly as a snippet manager, but also for som macros.
Can quick macros do the following:
1) import from Phraseexpress
2) easily create a way to substitute a keyword with a phrase
3) store phrases or complete sentences WITH formatting (rtf or html), like where I have a keyword sig1, that inserts my signature including formatting and an image.
4) replace autohotkey, so I can change right arrow key to be enter key instead.
5) save the files on dropbox for portability.

Stew Cam I am a registered user of Quick Macros, having previously used a number of more expensive macro utilities. As ron r states above, this is actually much more than a macro program. Can paste HTML format, but will need to find and import function PasteHtml from the forum.

Bo User This is a must buy for anyone considering automating their pc. Here are the big reasons:

1. It's ultra powerful. If you can describe it, you can probably automate it. Simple tasks can simply be recorded with a built-in recorder. Complex tasks require programming.

2. There is abundant documentation with examples.

3. Gintaras, the owner, not only responds quickly to your emails, but often supplies tested and working code for you for free. He's a straightshooter who will tell you if something can work or not.

4. I've looked at over 20 automation programs - ranging from $30 to $450. Quickmacros beats them all with more power, more speed, more options, more stability, and a man who stands behind his product (perhaps all day long because he answers so fast)

5. In a world filled with greedy companies selling you programs with one year worth of upgrades only, Quickmacros gives you updates for life.

6. In my first 3 months alone, I created dozens of autotext to spit out long phrases, send email, scrape urls from websites, fix poor user interfaces in other programs (eg 10 clicks to do a job becomes 1 click), run batch jobs, add keywords to websites in a web design program that had no such feature, etc. A few months later, I wrote entire programs to automate web browsing and research.

Buy it. You will not regret it. I'm not paid a single dollar to write this.

You're my boy, Gintaras !!!

ron r (In my very humble opinion). This is the BEST application what Bitsdujour has to offer.....Why? Functionality wise, it can go way beyond the description (in a positive way). If you want to keep it to the "basics", even then it will boggle your mind with the things you can do in it's most basic functionality.

You can unleash some SERIOUS computer Kung-Fu with this application.

(While we are on the Kung-Fu subject, "yes" it kicks the behind of all other similar applications...there...I said it... "shots fired"...)

I need some inspiration. It does seem like it could even be taught to brush my teeth for me each morning! Example: would love to process an entire folder of .csv files, reformating each file and saving the new file as a new name. Dozens of files per folder.. Just feeling a bit confused as to where to start. Read the forums but looking for a site or blog to explain more... Do you know of anything?

When going to the pastebin links, always press the grey "download" button at the top right THEN copy and paste in your QM editor. (or else code will not be correctly pasted if copy and paste directly from the pastebin browser...)

But Gintaras can give better examples (he has Bruce Lee like skills when it comes to coding, yes his Kung-Fu is strong).

I don't know if it's the best of ALL the software offered, although it certainly ranks among them, but I do think QM is one of the very BEST purchases I've ever made here. I use it every day. I has become so indispensable that I now believe it's worth every penny at full price.
As you suggested, using only the basics it's more powerful than anything in it's category and if you understand a bit of programming, QM is beyond amazing.
The learning curve is only as steep as you want to make it, depending of what you want to have it do, but setup correctly it will virtually eliminate repetitive tasks from your computing life. You can even run it as a portable app.
I only write reviews for products I really, really like and never write reviews for those I don't (I let others do the complaining). That said, I've only found only a couple of products that I will write a rave review for. QM is one of those.
It's really worth checking out.

Gintaras Didzgalvis QM - more user interface (script manager, more tool dialogs), which means easier and faster script development. AHK - free and much more popular, which means more extensions in its forums etc. I also could mention more QM advantages, but it would be unfair because I am not so familiar with AHK and don't know other its advantages, which of course must exist.

2. I think BitsDuJour offers such a guarantee, probably you'll need to email them.

Why:
- You can enhance your work experience with the windows OS using QM
- You can create (mini) applications in QM

- You can be more productive using QM and I am not talking about doing this within windows itself faster and more effectively but als enhance your applications...

As I simply do not have the time to spend trying to get the "feel" of a macro/language without a couple of clear vids.

The big question for me is .. what will I accomplish? And at what effort?

ron r I am working on a set of video-tutorials in my free time.
This is a hobby project so I can not give an exact time limit when it will be released. I have been working on it this year on and off.

The target audience is the beginner or someone who has worked with QM for a while but does not have the basic understanding of programming, customizing QM to own needs, dialogs,...

Sorry, it's difficult to specify the current knowledge level of the QM user for this tutorial to be still effective. I hope to start releasing the tutorials within the 4 weeks but it might as well be months (somewhere next year).

I have a lot of personal issues regarding which I must address which makes a release an exact specification of the release unsure.
But I as a humble user who does not have a high enough knowledge about QM still acknowledge that it's complexity is it's only Achilles-heel. Again I as a humble semi-intermediate user of QM (at best) is trying to address this.

If the tutorials will be released (and for now it looks that it will be) then it will be a +/- 26 part tutorial each of 4 to 15+ minutes (depending on subject). It is not voice narrated but text annotated. Target level: complete beginner BUT any high level programming experience or scripting in other languages will help you a lot. The reason I will release it in parts is that the uploading videos longer then 30 minutes from my machine to youtube ends up in failure, smaller videos upload without problems.

That's it, I hope that I didn't raise to high expectations BUT I also hope that users will not loose interest in this application. It has a lot to offer.... in other words... This rabbit hole goes deep... (in a good way!)

ron r I think it's because QM is designed and owned by one person.
That same person must maintain and offer support, add to this the complexity of this application and then it almost becomes impossible to find the time to create a video series for beginners.

In all fairness, his advice and support on the forums is awesome and he keeps the license price to a fair one time payment only.
And license agreement is very fair.
I can not blame him for not having a basic video tutorial series.
The problem with a basic set of tutorials is that it is still huge undertaking.

But I hope to tackle this issue as soon as humanly possible.

I normally would not do this, but because this application is so awesome at what it does and the forum support and price/license and the way he helped me so much, I had to try to give something back (not only to the author but mostly for anyone who want's to take computing to a next level).
