What are people saying about RadioBOSS Standard

Matt All I can say is make sure you try out the demo first.

I spent a couple of hours with RadioBoss. I found several bugs, along with error windows popping up. The developer should have spent some time in updating the help files.

I also couldn't figure out how to sort the music. Neither the playlists nor the database would sort. When you click on the column headers, nothing happens. Maybe you can't sort.

It was kind of neat playing around with it though.

Dmitry Kuzmitskiy Thanks for comment.

Errors could appear for various reasons, not only because of bugs - incorrect configuration or incompatibility with other software could lead to error messages.

There is sorting feature, but it's turned off by default in the Player because there are very few people who need it for radio broadcasting. Can be turned on in the Settings-General-"Sort Playlist by column click".
In the Music Library sorting is always enabled.

Matt Hi Dmitry. Thank you for your helpful reply. I overlooked the sorting option in the Settings.

lemonade soda I am genuinely interested in this software. But after watching the video, I was put off. It is one of the worst voice-overs I have ever heard. The pace is all wrong. Is it a robot? Or is it someone trying to sound fruity and running sentences together off autocue yet making unnecessary voice gestures that makes the demo cheesy and difficult to follow. The background music is also too loud. Remember, your video is targetted at someone seeing it FOR THE FIRST TIME. I think if you are in the business of selling media server software such as this, you need to get a professional voice-over and backing track mastering. The demo/feature video needs to be genuinely helpful, not some shopping-TV elevator pipe advertising. The guy/robot doing the video is more suited to selling discounted soap powder in the supermarket.

However, I still went to your website. The support forums and manual do look thorough. So I am interested again +1. However, what isn't immediately clear is if RadioBOSS can act as a server itself, or is it just a management console for using other server services like Shoutcast or Icecast?

I suggest you have a quick start guide incl. hardware+connection requirements+other software or service requirements for setting up an internet broadcast and how RadioBOSS helps. Is my small business server + RadioBOSS enough for a small group of listeners? Or is it only PART of the equation? Do I also need to hire/rent broadcast servers? The customer list suggests Universities are using it for on-campus radio. So what is the typical set up?

More info needed to get new customers to bite :D

Dmitry Kuzmitskiy Thank you very much for comments.

About the video. Actually the guy who voiced it used to work at a news channel in the US. But we did receive complains before about robot-like voice...

Regarding the server question. RadioBOSS has its own integrated server - you can broadcast directly from your PC. It can also act as a client for Shoutcast, Icecast and Windows Media Services servers. We currently offer free broadcasting servers at http://www.radioboss.fm - so stream hosting is not a question.

You're right about customer list: several cmapus radios use RabioBOSS for their needs for years.

Dmitry Kuzmitskiy Currently it doesn't support XML podcasts, but if you have a direct stream URL you can use it in RadioBOSS.
