Constantin Florea @Masood Khan, For all discounted deals we run, we must use the same license policy as the vendor is using to sell the product on the product website.

According to the pricing page on the product website:

the licenses we're promoting today have lifetime upgrades so according to our (BitsDuJour) policy, they should also have free lifetime upgrades.

Indeed, The Fine Print tab states something different but this is because the vendor submitted a different license policy (regarding updates) in our database for their product. I just contacted the vendor letting them know about our policy (for running normally discounted deals such as this one) and asking them to help clear this situation/confusion about the lifetime upgrades.

Jon Spain Having written that, I thought I'd try it out, curiosity won. So I took out a bad hard drive, which only two other programs (names later) out of maybe 8 have ever been able to see . At present, using the "deep" option, RecoverXdata sees the three sub-drives and is happily cataloguing one of them. Progress will be updated later today (UK evening, I guess). The other programs that work are ReclaiMe Ultimate (full price $200, bought with a 50% discount (no longer shown) at BdJ) and DiskDrill ($50, also from BdJ).

Jon Spain Well, here are the results, not very good, I'm afraid. After just under 6 hours, 352,496 files had been found, spanning 1.12 Tb. As this was roughly one-third of a drive which is just 1 Tb, something seems wrong. Far worse, however, with a few exceptions, the folder names, the folder structure and file names were not available, making the program essentially useless. Disk Drill is good and ReclaiMe is better (more expensive, though), this is not worth $27.

J S I have 2(two) Questions:

QUESTiON 1. What is the policy regarding Refunds (or is that left up too Bits du Jour, when bought through BdJ).

The MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE, I have found is the very moment you need to recover a file or whatever, is the ABiLiTY to CREATE AN IMAGE of the Harddrive or USB etc the moment after you've realised you need to recover something, BECAUSE SCANNiNG A HARDDRIVE means that M$ WiNDOWS will make data while searching for the Data to be Recovered.

THE ONLY PROGRAM I have found so far that gives you this IMAGE CREATiON ABiLiTY is RECUVA PRO (not the standard Recuva version, but the PRO version - which can either be bought as a Stand-a-lone product (cheaply), or as part of the complete CCleaner PRO or PRO PLUS, package.

RECUVA PRO also allows creation of a DATA IMAGE in various formats including RAW or, so ...

QUESTiON 2: Does RecoverXDATA (Lifetime License), have the ability - or option, to allow the User to create an iMAGE of the HDD (or other device) to then search for the Data the User wants to recover, AND, if it Currently doesn't offer the image creation ability, ARE YOU CONSiDERiNG ADDiNG SUCH AN OPTiON ?

Aunbox Software Co., Ltd. @Scott Garrett It will depend on whether there are enough clues to recover the filenames. If the clues are enough, you will find the file with its original file name.
And if the data for the file name was damaged or cleared, but the main data in the file remains, you may find files with different file names, and mostly a name with strings.

Can the recovery-results been shown in the original folder structure,
or are they only listed by file extensions?
E.g. File Scavenger allows to swith to a "tree view"
Folder-TreeView can be a very important feature and help to navigate through recovered data a lot.
In case it is not already implemented is it on the roadmap for the nearer future?

After the scanning, you can check the results in three ways.

File path: You will find the data in a "tree view" as it was in the original folder structure.

File type: You will find the data categorized in formats so that you can easily find them by file type. For example, if you only hope to recover an MP4 file, you can go to the MP4 folder to find all the MP4 files detected and recovered on your device.

Deleted: RecoverXData will help you analyze which are deleted and which are not so that you can find the deleted data in the Deleted tab.

You can switch among the above three tabs on the left pane of RecoverXData scanning result window to find your lost data. And you can also filter the results by file type, period modified, and size. And what's more, you can search for the format or file name on the top-right of the scanning result window.

Tim User I recently tried 10 different DataRecovery programs to recover files from old 3.5 HDD only to discover that most Data Recovery software is ineffective.
A potential problem with so-called Data Recovery Software is that files may be recovered but corrupted, so the "Recovery" is a waste of time and money.
I looked on the RecoverXdata website and there is NO mention of File Repair.
If data recovery software does not actually REPAIR corrupted files it supposedly "recovers" -- it is a scam on the consumer.
