What are people saying about Replay Media Catcher

Brad Hi,

I am wondering if this application Replay Media Catcher is a recent re-branded version of the superb Jaksta Streaming Media Recorder.

If I am correct are their any subtle differences in capabilities between the two competing products? I already own the Jaksta product now going on 3 or 4 years now.

As far as I am concerned the Jaksta Recorder is the gold standard in my toolbox for capturing streaming media. Without a doubt it flat just works as advertised 99% of the time without any issues or configuration hassles.

For downloading Video, Audio, and subsequently converting these formats to a myriad of devices with alternate formats the Jaksta product is without a doubt my go to software application everytime.

So if Replay Media Catcher is the same as Jaksta, folks take a look at purchasing this product if you have a need for simplicity of operation with goof proof results, and near zero configuration tweaking. Here ya go.

In the off chance that the standard port defaults do not fit the way you work the Jaksta has multiple ways to configure the opening and closing of ports to fine tune your system to enable the results you expect from the application.

Great, great product and good value at this reduced price point.

Here is a link to the Jaksta Product I bought years ago? Looks like the Replay Media Catcher is the same as Jaksta.

http://www.jaksta.com/dow...r-windows/

Thanks, Brad

Leslie Bee Hi Brad -

Replay Media Catcher and Jaksta are similar. Replay Media Catcher has an added feature for automatically identifying and tagging music tracks.

Either one is a good value.

Oh - if you're a Mac user, check out Jaksta for Mac (http://jaksta.com)

Brad Thanks, Leslie

Follow-up

Are their any considerations installing both products on the same machine at the same time, i.e, configuration conflicts or either application stepping on each other.

I like the idea of RMC tagging music tracks, so this might be a reason to buy it in my case. Of course if the Jaksta and RMC are equivalent products I could merely take the Jaksta off my primary system and use it on another machine, thus avoiding any potential issues.

I am assuming you would not attempt to have both apps monitoring streaming media catches at the same time, as I am sure this would be a waste of resource time, and mightt cause issues.

Thanks, Brad

Wally L I'm assuming that this DEAL is coming up soon, so I wanted to ask
Q1. will Bitsdujour users also be entitled to buy the entire Replay Suite at same or discounted rate.

Personally I've just discovered about 10 days ago, WM Recorder and it's products which i believe may also be sold through Applian.com, but I understand that the Replay Suite handles more situations (if that's the best way i can put it) than the WM bundle does.

_____

Q2. Could You please clarify the upgrade situation?

Reason is because the friend who put me onto WM Recorder and Replay Suite told me that once the buyer pays for the suite or bundle upgrades to the next version are or have so far been free of charge.

I'm looking forward to your answers and many thanks indeed.

Leslie Bee Hi Brad -

You can certainly have both products on the same machine at the same time. I do. And you are right you wouldn't want to have both programs running at the same time as it is a waste of resource time. And certainly you could buy Replay Media Catcher and use it on another machine.

Thanks so much for your questions.

Leslie Bee Hi Walter - Thanks for your questions.

Here goes:

Q1: The Bitsdujour users will be entitled to buy the entire Replay Capture Suite at a discount - yes - but not the same percentage discount as you will get on the Replay Media Catcher. Rather than a 45% discount - the Replay Capture Suite will be reduced by 23% - using the same discount code. Either way you choose you will be getting great software at a great price (if I do say so myself :) )

Q2: Once you buy one of our products you do get updates free - but significant upgrades may cost you a small amount - but they are always optional. And if there is a major upgrade within 3 months of your purchase it will be yours for free.

Does that make sense?

And yes WM Recorder is a sister company of Applian's. The WM Recorder Bonus Bundle is a great package of recording software - and offers a lot of recording flexibility - the Replay Capture Suite does have more functionality than the WM Recorder Bundle, however.

I hope these answer your questions - please let me know if you have any others.

Enjoy - Leslie

Leslie Bee Hi Peter -

Great question - While Replay Media Catcher can easily download content from thousands of non-English sites - include Youtube.de - I don't know if the search feature is currently restricted to just searching English language sites. I have contacted the developer to get you an answer. As soon as I hear back I will let you know.

Please stay tuned,

Stefan Hauber We also have Jaksta already and like it very much.

My problem with it is, when capturing live-streams (flv-format) from some sites after some time the sound disappears completely, just the video is available. So I am wondering if the sound is still somehow in these flv-files and they just have to be repaired (and if this is the case please, plesae tell me how...) or if it is gone forever (and if this is the case, how can this be: are video and sound streamed separetly somehow)?

Coming back to this product: Can I check if these problematic sites do work with ReplayMediaCatcher fine, i.e. is the demo limited just in time and not in functionality?

Leslie Bee Hi Stefan -

So glad you like Jaksta - I have written the developer to get his take on the issue you are having with live streams. I know live streams are trickily. Stay tuned for his response.

Regarding Replay Media Catcher - the demo is fully functional - you are just limited on time - so it will work 100% will all Youtube videos but will only capture 50% of other streams. Why not try it with your favorite sites and see how it does?

Wally L Hello again, I'd like to ask the following 2 questions:

Q1. How do I make my purchase using RegNow (and not PayPal) because when I choose to select the RegNow option on your order pages NO COUPON SPACE appears, so I can insert & apply the code.

Q2. I travel about a bit so I'd like to ask is the Replay Media Capture program capable of capturing all programs through:

BBC iPlayer ?

ABC.net.au and their iVIEW service?

SBS.com.au and their On Demand service ?

Leslie Bee Hi Walter -

Unfortunately Regnow has a different payment set-up and our coupon codes don't work through their system. Is that the only way you can pay?

And regarding streams that Replay Media Catcher can capture - I know it can capture the iPlayer streams - unfortunately I can't test it with the abc.net.au streams as I can't get them to play for me here in the states.

The demo is fully functional so if you can get those streams to play you can test Replay Media Catcher yourself.

And finally we do offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you find that the program doesn't work to your satisfaction.

I hope that helps,
Leslie

Stefan Hauber Hello Walter,

thanks for the answer so far. It's the windows-version and a webcam-site e.g. cam4.

I tried it out with RMC, but recording stops after one minute in the trial-version, so I can't say much about it.

Another thing: I really would appreciate a feature where the order of the outstanding downloads could be changed. Suppose you have a list of outstanding downloads and you want to add a urgent streaming download you have no chance, but removing all the former outstanding downloads to make this one the next to download. With this feature you could make an outstanding download to the next to download.

Also a 'pause download until idle' feature for the currently downloaded files would be great. In the example above this would allow the next file - the important one - could be downloaded immidiately - and the interrupted one could be finished as soon as there is some bandwith-capacity free

Thanks a lot.

Barry Kintner Oh where do I begin!

I was charged the full $39.95. There was no opportunity to put in the discount code. Paying with PayPal - the screen to verify my purchase (and the price) was not offered - the 'sale' was simply completed and I was charged the full $39.95.

Now - Do I have to go file a complaint with PayPal?

Chinchih Lu I tried the demo version to record some YouTube video. The video is recorded correctly, but the app recorded 5 copies!

Also, I noticed that if I am on a VPN, Replay Media Catcher doesn't seem to work. Is this a known limitation?

Leslie Bee Hi Chinchih Lu - I wrote our tech support folks after I saw your comment and here is what they wrote back:

Some YouTube URL's have extra parameters that can cause duplicates. If this happens, enable this setting:
Tools - Settings - Download Settings - Site Specific:
Stop Multiple Downloads of the Same Video from YouTube

Replay Media Catcher will work with most VPN's. Can you tell us what VPN you are using?
If you are still having troubles, you can send support a debug log:
1. Open Replay Media Catcher
2. Don't start monitoring
3. Help About and expand Support and check Debug Mode and then OK
4. Start monitoring.
5. Go to YouTube and start watching in your browser. Wait until Replay Media Catcher should have picked it up and started downloading. This should be within the first few seconds of the video playing.
6. Stop monitoring
7. Help About and expand Support and click the "email logs to support"
link. Please attach the file it makes to the support ticket.

I hope this helps answer your questions. Leslie

J S I'd like to ask You/Applian Technologies 2 questions, the first of which has stopped me from buying the entire Replay Capture Suite in the past few years.

Question 1: Does Replay Media Capture now work with Australian Free to Air TV station's online review services (like the BBC's iPlayer service) such as:

A. the national broadcasters ABC "iview" catch up service [http://www.abc.net.au/ivi...V_iview_au]

&

B. Special Broadcasting Services (the national multi-language broadcaster) "on demand" service [http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand] or film service [http://www.sbs.com.au/films/video]

When I last tried to use Replay Media Capture, less than 2 years ago - but i dont have the exact info any longer as the harddrive died, I found that R.M.C. was incapable of working with Australian media sources.

When I contacted Applian about how to make the R.M.C. and the Suites other products work, Applian's answer was that Applian "couldn't access Australian sources" and therefore didn't know.

Given that the R.M.C. works with other countries and services I found the "couldn't access Australia" incredibly lazy to say the least.

I'd be willing to bet that R.M.C. works with BBC's iPlayer service in the UK, as well as various other countries services, so why not spend a few development dollars to test Australia's sources?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Question2: Is Applian likely to offer the entire Replay Capture Suite on Bitsdujour during the remainder of 2012?

, OR,

If somebody buys todays R.M.C. offer and Applain then offers the entire Replay Capture Suite later in 2012, will Applian offer todays buyers a rebate or refund when they buy the entire suite?

Barry Kintner Good day Leslie -

-- Thank you for the response. Is there a specific way to contact customer service for THIS instance? I've sent a note to 'Customer Service' on the Applian website. I hope that is correct.

-- Why would I think 'source code' is a field for this?

Thanks again.

Leslie Bee Hi JS -

Regarding question 1: Our developer is in Australia and know that the answer to your first site is:

It can *record* iView.

The user needs to leave the stream playing in their browser as it is copy protected so a direct download is not legally possible. The user is displayed a popup telling them this when such a stream is detected.

I will ask about the "On Demand" sites Please stay tuned for more on that.

Regarding Question 2: As yours is the second request today for the Suite being offered via Bits Du Jour I will work with Bits du Jour to get a promotion date set up for the Suite sometime before the end of the year.

Thanks

J S Dear Leslie Bee, that is splendid news on 2 of my 3 inquiries.

May I also ask 2 further questions regards the purchase procedure and license owners name:

Q1. Does the Coupon supplied for todays deal also work when using RegNow?

Reason I ask is because: My preference is to license my software in a name slightly different to how it is displayed on my credit card and PayPal and Your/Applian's green "Pay with Credit Card" do not have the ability to change the license name, whereas RegNow does allow the user this name changing ability.

Q2. If however the Coupon for todays deal does not work with Regnow: Can the buyer contact Applian after the purchase is complete to arrange different registration details?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I forgot to add that my reference to BBC's iPlayer (when used through Australia) is through means of a proxy service, which obviously makes iPlayer think that the user is in Great Britain.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I DO NOT wish to be greedy, but I had also used trialled WM Recorder on my old dead pc and from what I remember WM Recorder Bonus Bundle has some advantages & disadvantages when compared to Replay Capture Suite and I, for one, would be genuinely interested in buying both products WM.R.B.B. & R.C.S.

I also know that I have some friends in the UK that think WM Recorder is "the business" for live capturing and I'd venture to say they be very interested in buying the full package too.

Many many thanks indeed. J S

J S Dear Leslie,

Thanks for clarifying the License Naming /RegNow matter.

I wasn't inquiring about the R.C.S. or WM.R.B.B. with Todays promotion.

Because You has answered in an earlier "I will work with Bits du Jour to get a promotion date set up for the Suite sometime before the end of the year. "

I was hoping that perhaps Applian might also offer the WM.R.B.B. - perhaps at the same future promotion, as both products really do some functions so well, but it is only when you have both products that you've really got every situation covered.

If only Alex could compile everything into the one package!

J S Dear Leslie Bee or APPLiAN SUPPORT,

I am going to purchase TODAY, 1x Replay Capture Suite & 1x WM Recorder Bonus Bundle.

Unfortunately I am currently unable to contact my friend - who lives overseas, to ask them if they too would like a Licensed Copy of one or both program suites. I would expect to be able to contact them within a week or 10 days at the very latest.

Question: After my purchases are completed: Is it possible to issue me with a 2nd Copy 50% OFF Voucher (or 50% OFF 2nd Copy Coupon) that I can use to buy another Licensed Copy once I have successfully contacted my friend?

[I thought I once saw mention of this '2nd Copy Voucher or Coupon' somewhere on both websites - but that was probably way back in 2012 or even earlier.]

Bradley MacDonald Looks like an interesting tool. How often do you update the tool? I ask as I have to believe that content providers (like YouTube, etc.) constantly make subtle changes to foil tools like this. How long are those upgrades free? And how much is the upgrade price?
May 8 2018 at 10:03am Copy Link

Pavi Johnson Hi, I just checked the upgrade cost via their website. It was very easy, just enter email address.

For just Replay Media Catcher, €9.95, for Replay Capture Suite €29.95 (7 products). Probably these are similar in USD, ie. $9.95 if you are in the US, although I didn't test it since the price is already so good.

This is simply outstanding since 1) I bought an old version about 5 years ago already discounted via Bitsdujour, 2) I didn't have my details, only the email and 3) the upgrade price is very low.

This level of upgrade ease is truly commendable! I like supporting companies that treat customers right. I will probably upgrade just for this reason.

Best, /Pavi
