What are people saying about RoboForm Desktop

John Geary Policy: "Licensed per computer for non-concurrent use only, allowing transfer of a license to another owned computer." Does that mean it can be on more than one of my computers as long as I only use one at a time? Or, it can only be on one at a time, but I can remove it from one and put it on another?

RM Personally I prefer the Roboform Everywhere 7 over the desktop only version. With the Everywhere version you get unlimited computer and mobile device installs and secure online data sync for a very reasonable yearly subscription price. I've been using it on both my phone and my PC and to sync my info back and forth.

Siber Systems John Geary - It means the license can only be on one computer at a time, but you can remove it from one computer and put it on another if necessary. Let me know if you need further clarification!

RM - Glad to hear RoboForm Everywhere has been working well for you!

Genie au Travail - Thank you!

Carl Lum Even with all the free password managers out there, Roboform is still the best by far. I recently upgraded to their "Everywhere" license--at first I was reluctant to pay a yearly subscription for a password manager, but it's convenience has been worth it.

Mike G As a long time RoboForm Pro user, I can definitely say many improvements in RF7 make it well worth the price--especially with this BDJ discount.

Like Carl, I tried other password managers and ended up staying with RoboForm. It's apparent that Siber Systems is putting lots of resources into ongoing development as well as technical support.

I also ended up switching from RF Pro to Everywhere. It just makes sense with several computers--including Win 7 PC's and my new iPad 2. :) RFE 7 runs on all of them and keeps my passwords sync'ed.

Nevertheless, I think it's a good idea that Siber Systems kept the Pro version available for those who would rather not move to an annual license fee and/or are uncomfortable with online sync (as I was before doing lots of research).

Roy Grubb Have you fixed the problem of this crashing Chrome yet? I trialled it until it expired and reported many problems (see my 19 messages on Ticket 376541 image at http://www.informationtam...376541.jpg ), and then went back to v.6.

Your support people still haven't replied to my last message of Jan 29..

Michael K I have been using Roboform for several years and it's done a good job for me except in one important area and although I wrote to them a long time ago nothing was done about it.

Access to Roboform data is by a master password which is fine. However when you click on the Roboform icon in the task bar up comes a full list of website names and safenote names of all the things you are trying to protect. When you click on one of the names or safenotes, only then does it ask you for a password.

I don't want all the website names and safenote names on display for anyone with access to my computer to see. I want everything, including website names and safenote names to be behind the master password.

It's a 'no brainer' really and pretty poor design work on the part of Siber Systems and Roboform to have it function without this most basic form of privacy.

I, being a lone voice to write to their Tech Support saying this, but nothing changed.. Now this Roboform deficiency will be highlighted to the wider BitsDuJour audience, perhaps Siber systems may pay more attention and fix this important privacy and security issue.

Sure, no one can see your actual login data or the notes themselves but they do know exactly what you are protecting unless you use the most obscure names and descriptions. There should be no need to do that if Siber just did a better job of ensuring Roboform provides complete privacy behind the master password which currently, it does not do.

I love BitsDuJour - great service, great website and a great, functional, thoughtful design.

Siber Systems Roy Grubb - Please check Twitter for a response. I have given you my email address so we can look into the issue.

Siber Systems Michael K - Sincerest apologies for any inconvenience, but this is all the information I have at this time. The feature request does not affect outside access to your login credentials and has not been as widely requested, hence there has been a delay. However, I do encourage you to contact our support team for further discussion - http://support.roboform.c.../rtss/main.

Mike G Michael K, you're not alone in writing Siber Systems about that issue (RF leaving your website and safenote names open for all to see)! I also mentioned names being visible as individual files stored in the My RF Data folder.

My favorite solution would be to store everything in a password-protected, lightweight database such as SQLite. A database was mentioned by Siber as one of the options under investigation.

Of course that's a major redesign on top of keeping up with new feature development, constant browser changes and bug fixes. Hopefully others will contact RF support to help increase priority of this issue.

Siber Systems Please note this does not affect the security of the software. Your RoboForm Data Files are stored and encrypted (with military-grade AES 256 encryption) with your Master Password as the key. Since your Master Password is not stored on our servers, absolutely nobody, including Siber Systems, can access your passwords or other RoboForm data. Our software is trusted and used by multiple branches of the United States Government and corporations worldwide.

Roger Thomasson Folks, we provide a direct line of communication between the customer and the vendor as a privilege, not a divine right. *Demanding* a response from the CEO? Not going to happen here. Using phrases like "what complete nonsense" and "complete disgrace"? Nope, not going to happen either.

If you can't keep a handle on your vitriol, please take your comments elsewhere.

Roy Grubb Looks to me (from some comments here and from personal experience) as if RoboForm should set up a forum, or establish a Google Group to allow things to be discussed constructively and openly. Then a BdJ offer would not be grabbed by frustrated users as an opportunity to air issues.

I have always had a better response when I prodded @roboform on Twitter than from the ticket system (see my example above), but Twitter is not a good venue for feature requests and bug reports either.

Barnet I am an IT engineer, for many years, I would NOT use form filling software, I did not trust it. I finally chose to use RoboForm, and I have been more than thrilled. It is the only form management software I will use.

Michael K is bringing up a very topical issue. Yes, the sensitive data is behind the Master Password. In this day however, we are at constant battle with protecting ourselves. Best practice is to use BCC in our email blasts. White papers are published on the security issues of "Social Networking". Watch your cellphone etc.

I will continue to use Roboform, since I can no longer live without it, but I will also send the request to place the list behind the password to conform with todays security best practices.

Carl Lum As a long time Roboform user, I was aware that Roboform displays all the passcardsd and safenotes for all to see, but I never considered it an issue. I sometimes find it handy to browse through my list of logons to see what I've saved, but I use the search feature most often. Security and privacy are two different things. Siber Systems excels in the former but not the latter. They'll get around to it eventually--like their fixes for all the Chrome crashes. But customers have voted with their wallets and made them successful enough in a sea of freebie alternatives.

Mark W Thanks Melissa for answering my question as well as the one about upgrading as that is what I was planning to do with my 2 "desktop" 6 licenses and 1 USB one for 6. Is the price of $14.95 the same for desktop and/or USB?

carl thorpe I am a registered user of RoboForm Pro v6 (desktop and portable versions).

While RoboForm is good at what it does, I feel it it is necessary and topical to mention that Roboform recently reneged on its promise of free upgrades to registered users. With the current version, they decided not to honor that claim.

Proof of this earlier claim can be seen here:
http://classic-web.archiv...y-pro.html

More commentary is available here:
http://news.softpedia.com...1188.shtml

I understand a need to change policy and begin charging for upgrades, but it is not good business practice to refuse to honor a promise to your paying customers.

Moderators, please think long and hard before deleting this message. Nothing I have said is false, and it is directly related to the product.

Joe Smith very disappointed in RF7 - there was so much confusion around which product was which re: Everywhere, RF7, and RF Online so i just bought both licenses(Everywhere and RF7) but they didn't do much beta testing apparently on RF7 and the toolbar still doesn't go across the screen half the time so you can't use and finally they have very little interest in Linux(ya right FF option but cant add or edit logins so whats the point?) so i finally looked elsewhere...was hoping Keepass or KeepassX would work but i decided on LastPass finally and not looking back....i was a RF customer for about 5-6 years and even though they claimed they were selling lifetime licenses i was fine with an upgrade fee but the way they handled this mess last Dec/January i will NEVER EVER buy from Roboform again....good bye...

S B I've personally nothing to hide except passwords, but Michael K & Mike G's revelations about RoboForm are a deal-breaker for me.

Yes, putting everything--not just passwords--behind the master password *is* a "no-brainer." ("worse than failure")

I'm quite surprised by this seeming naiveté which suggests deeper software and security issues to me. For me, because I have critical passwords, I'm going to have to go elsewhere.

David Drane I dropped the pro version to move to roboform everywhere. The online sync between machines (in my case laptop and desktop) as well as the effective backup that provides were the main reasons.

I have also started using the bookmarks within roboform instead of favourites in ie or firefox so I don't have to worry about cross platform changes.

Lastpass is a good free option but it has its own issues (as does all software) which made it better than roboform in some areas and not so good in others. After checking both out, I went with roboform.

webdancer I, too, am a mostly-satisfied, long-time (1994) user and have found RF to be best in class. RF7 has some nice enhancements, such as application passcards and the new pw capture menu. And okay, yes, I really like the site icons, too.

My major app peeve is the issue mentioned by Michael K, and Mike G; having my list of pw-protected passcards visible w/o the use of a pw. And yes, I can (and for some logins, do) use "code" for the name, but that's an inconvenience ("uh, what did I name my bank / porn site / super-secret-whatever again?").

What I find worse, is the ethics-fail that Carl Thorpe mentioned. I well remember how stunned I was when I attempted to upgrade my multiple licenses only to find that Siber Systems commitments were as virtual as the paper on which they were printed. Exceedingly disappointing. In addition, I now have the embarrassment of contacting all the people who purchased earlier versions at my insistence (even my parents!) and telling them that they may have to rethink my recent urging to upgrade to 7.

I'm upgrading one license--and I'll be doing it on bdj because Siber Systems do not value their installed base enough to insure that we get the lowest available prices. That's something that should normally happen, but should absolutely occur after this, "free upgrades.NOT!" shafting we've received.

Software Guy No way anymore for me. License policy changed for updates; per computer licensing scheme is antiquated and WAY too expensive even with this discount - this offer is only good for someone who has one computer, and those days are gone; everywhere costs too much and internet is not available everywhere all of the time. easier to go back to encoding a data file with my passwords (with blanks and code if anyone is able to successfully decode the file) - free and i can make as many copies as I want. yes,i must type a bit, but roboform has gone, to the cloud. Put it all in perspective - I just paid $85 for 2 full copies of MS office pro plus with all its features which will work indefinitely. roboform wants $60 at regular prices to install on those 2 coputers. Apples to oranges - sure, but look at what you get for the money. 1 license, $30 bucks - too much. 2 licenses here for $30 - still too much. Free lifetime upgrades - gone. Annual cloud version - no way. And there are free alternatives.....

F.J. Garvin I too have been a long time user with multiple licenses. It is a very good product however many of the concerns voiced here are valid.

Yes, they did promise free upgrades as Carl Thorpe pointed out. And the 'discounted' upgrade price (here or their website) does start to add up when you have multiple licenses. In addition, it was already mentioned here the possibility of going to an SQL database but of course, that would be another 'major' revision so we would all be back here again waiting for the next deal.

Lastly,as another poster pointed out, customer support is not as responsive as it could be regarding issues.

I think software guy summed it up pretty well. It was a good product but there are now many free versions. And the 'cloud' is silly as not everyone is tethered to the web..not to mention the security. One day Siber will send you the usual email 'Our database was hacked. We are taking steps to insure that it doesn't happen again, but for now...sorry'.

I'll keep using version 6..the version I paid enough for. If Siber cant find enough new customers with the new version to support R&D, then its time to move on. I'd pay a token $5 per copy to upgrade all my licenses but not $15 a copy here or $20 per from the website. They re-wrote the interface to stay competitive but there aren't any new features to justify the upgrade for current users. (Especially missing the jump to 64bit for Win7 users)

John Smith I'm also a long time user of RF.

I updated to the everywhere version but will not renew after it expires.

I have been trialing the free version of Last Pass and it meets my needs quite nicely.

With LP you need to input a password to see anything, unlike RF.

It is also free.

I used to tell everyone I knew about RF, now I will be telling them about LP.

carl thorpe In addition to now charging for upgrades that were supposed to be free, version 6 does not work with Firefox 4. So not only do they expect me to pay for the new version, they have made it so I can't continue to use the version that I paid for.

Also, to clarify something from my first post: If companies want to end free lifetime upgrade policies, that is their prerogative, but it should only apply to new licenses purchased after they clearly state that they are no longer offering lifetime upgrades. They should continue to honor their earlier policy for those who bought a license before the policy was changed.

Roger Thomasson Folks, the lifetime license issue was been beaten *to death* in a previous BDJ/RoboForm promotion. We're not going to resurrect it here.

Let's move on to actual questions or comments about product functionality, features, etc.

And remember, we strive for a respectful, mature atmosphere on Bits. If that's not your bag I invite you to patronize the other 99.9% of the internet.

scaevola na Can you buy several licences (one for each computer) but can they all be attached to a single account? Or would I have to maintain 3 concurrent sets of credentials?

PLEASE NOTE: Your RoboForm Data Files are stored on our RoboForm Everywhere (Online) servers and are encrypted (by AES - military grade encryption) with your Master Password as the key. Since your Master Password is not stored on our servers, absolutely nobody, including Siber Systems, can access your passwords or other RoboForm data.

Billie Gray Deceptive! - something I've experienced before with this co. The download did not prepare to install roboform pro 7. . I stopped the installation and deleted everything when I realized this was installing Roboform everywhere - a dramatically more expensive product - , instead of roboform pro,. I have no use of syncing - particularly since I also use roboform2go on a flash drive, and I don't want to pay $20 per year to use this program. In addition, roboform everywhere can be downloaded at the roboform site for $9.95 for the first year. Roboform2go, installed on a flash drive - will operate the full program on any computer on which it is plugged into a usb port.

The advantages of roboform everywhere are minimal, and just a way to lure people into a program with a disproportionately large annual fee. As for the syncing capability - it takes seconds to go to the same website on a different computer and type in the id and password - once. The license for the first machine is the full $19.95, but it is half price for additional licenses. Buy 3 licenses, and you're done, instead of paying an annual fee of $19.95 in subsequent years.

Frank Stephens There have been a number of comments regarding RoboForm privacy. I'm not going to get into an argument about which password manager is best, there are always differences. Sticky Password keeps all of its entries in an encrypted database, nothing is visible when it's locked. You can generate a password for a new website right in front of someone, it's not visible. You can unlock Sticky Password using your master password right in front of someone, just use the mouse-driven virtual keyboard with anti-spy enabled. Sticky Password can search and launch, but I never do that. It will automatically log onto selected websites as you browse without any user interaction, if desired. Within a browser, its interface is a single button in the title bar, no toolbars. Sticky Password handles application passwords outside of browsers. License includes both a single computer and a portable version.

Stefan Hauber I'm thinking about buying the Everywhere-offer for about 10$ for the first year. Can I cancel the subscription anywhen in the first year and be able to use the server until the end of this complete first year?

Before buying I want to check out, if a automatical login on a special site would work, which is done over more than one webpage and what did not work under my formerly installed v6-version.

I read above the comments to the old customers with the promised free upgrades. I also read Roger Thomasson's comment about letting this issue go. But I did not find any official comment in here and I can't find the old comments he was referring to. Normaly, if a product was offered again, the old comments are visible. I'm also wondering, why BDJ did not say anything about that: It was on their site the livetime-upgrade was promised. We bought here 2 desktop licenses and one 2Go-license in 2009 and even if the price was discounted it was quite some money, but it was intended as an investion in the future. So far it was not yet installed on more than one computer and not yet on an usb-stick. Of course we wouldn't have not bought more than one item of this product without this explicit confirmation to a bdj-comment. I really can understand some angry feelings about that.. Wasn't that a buy a legal contract and isn't that broken by one side? Perhaps you can offer a link to an official explanation of why this is done...

K X A note to those of you upgrading from version 6 to version 7. Like some of you, I bought several Roboform 6 licenses at Bits last year. Then Roboform version 7 came out and I had the choice of a free upgrade to version 7 or to try Roboform Everywhere. I upgraded to 7.

A little later, because of some of the issues discussed in this thread, I decided to look around for a different program to switch to. Bits ran a sale on 1Password, and I decided I would go with that.

I thought it would be pretty easy to get my Roboform logins transferred to 1Password. Well, it would have been easier if I had not upgraded to version 7. There's a thread someone started about this in 1Password's forums, and it seems that along with new features in Roboform version 7, they've also crippled the Export function. So export your data before you upgrade to Roboform 7, if you're thinking about possibly switching to another program.

Mike G @ Melissa Barker: "We are in the process of creating our own forum for this type of discussion."

This is good news--something I've been hoping for and suggesting! I believe user forums engender a much more stable sense of community and case history compared to facebook or especially twitter which is like stepping onto a fast-moving treadmill littered with disjointed fragments of communication.

Although better support (IMO) is one of the reasons I remain a RoboForm customer, many issues call for more sustained, collaborative discussion. As a Bitster suggested earlier, some of the comunication spilling over here on BDJ is the natural result of not having a forum for peer discussion and vetting of issues.

Techtoysavvy I am a Roboform user but I am confused about the licensing. This appears to be the version that is good for one desktop computer. The license does not expire but must be upgraded to future versions.

The online version is good for one year but is available for the short term for $9.95. It allows you to use Roboform on upto 10 computers.

It is very confusing for me since I have multiple licenses and some are upgraded from v6. I would like to extend my subscription version. Is that possible with this deal?

One other confusing detail. I have multiple user accounts on multiple computers. It appears to me that each time I install the software for another user on the same machine it needs to be activated. I suspect that each user counts as a machine unless SIber is tracking the footprint. In any case, I think that a machine should need to be licensed only once by any user or at least by one administrative user.

To be fair I think previous versions had bugs in the licensing code and they may have been fixed.

Siber Systems Sabrina, there was no promise for free upgrades for life, just within a version. We don't update V6 anymore, but users can still use V6 licenses. As far as V7, we have no plans for V8 anytime in the near future.

You are entitled to free upgrades for Version 6. Here's a sample of the free upgrades we've delivered in RoboForm 6 over the past seven years:

1) Major upgrades of IE 5, 6, and 7
2) Major upgrades of Firefox 2, 3, and 3.5
3) Major Windows changes XP, Vista and 7
4) The addition of Searchcards, Safenotes, expanded Identity control, and countless other new features
5) iPhone, iPod support
6) Chrome support
7) Bookmarklets so that RoboForm would work on non-supported browsers, etc.

We are aware of the postings where people claim free upgrades for life, but it is free upgrades within the version. We never promoted free upgrades for life.

F.J. Garvin I had used Roboform for years but stayed far away from V7 due to its requirement of using it on-line 'in the cloud'. Its important to note that this current revision does not require syncing on the net. You can now use it stand-alone with sync turned off. Apparently Siber drank the water that said everyone wants to store their life in cyber-space but they apparently shook it off. Thank goodness. I can now use the current Firefox and I'm back with Roboform on all my PC's. The only time I sync is once a month to transfer to my Andriod Roboform which requires it but I can kill the on-line file just after I sync. My passwords do not have to remain 'in-the-cloud' which was my biggest hesitation to v7. As long as they don't take another stumble, I'm back in the Roboform rooting section.

We NEVER required users to store their info in the cloud. We have always had two options available; Desktop (stored on PC only- which is this featured promotion), and Everywhere (sync to multiple devices with Online sync).

ellison Actually siber systems (despite all their hand wringing) did promise free upgrades which most definitely implied lifetime upgrades. It was the reason that i purchased 4 licences many moons ago. When 7 was released a new licensing system was introduced and the web page altered ,by siber systems but the archive still remains.

A simple search on google shows how siber systems altered their licensing system even to those existing customers.

I didn't want to get involved here as I've moved on and now use sticky passwords ,because of the way siber systems treated their customers, however as a bits du jour poster and someone who has purchased from this website I could not stand idly by and listen to siber systems trying to rewrite history .Yes roboform is good software but siber systems did renege on their earlier licensing deal ,and nothing will ever change that act or fact.

Billy Smith Ellison, I gladly paid for the new service. I have been with RoboForm since 2004. I wasn't to happy about their new system for upgrades, but I understood that they didn't charge only if you had version 5 and went to 6 because they didn't see they need to. V7 has been a great addition and the ability to sync alone was worth it for me. I will never use last pass because their systems have been hacked multiple times and the ability to store my passcards on my own PC was the only option i would have considered. They are dependable, secure and have phone support. What else could you ask for????

I wont do business with them again or recommend them because of their failure to recognise that their reneged on their licence policy and for trying to blame everyone else's "misunderstanding" on their altered licence policy.

Siber Systems Ellison,

The difference is pretty clear. Back in 2004 we decided not to charge for the upgrade from V5 to V6. We never said we will never charge for upgrades. The old FAQ even says "So far we did not charge for upgrades..." To me that implies that we may charge for upgrades at some point. It certainly does not imply that we will never charge for upgrades.

We provided free updates for V6 for about 5 years. V7 was a major upgrade and we charge for it. At the same time we provided a 33% discount to existing users as a benefit for previously buying the software.

We know we cannot make everyone happy. But that is our policy. It's been our policy since we released RoboForm 7 nearly a year ago. It was a necessary policy in order to keep up with the numerous changes going on in password management. Browsers are always changing, new operating systems and mobile devices need to be supported, etc.

ellison You never said anything other than upgrades for purchasers of Roboform pro will be free. Its ridiculous and rather patronizing to try to imply and insert conditions now.For example ..rather than saying "we only meant upgrades were for version 6 only" you could just just as easily have argued (using your licensing logic) that upgrades were only meant for IE7 and Firefox 5.Do you see the irony of your statement?.Your upgrade policy at that time clearly stated " free upgrades",and you should have honoured that policy for your then current customers and introduced the new policy for new customers.I don't want to hijack this bits du jour offer as im sure many will buy your excellent software. But please don't mislead potential customers with half truths.

Billy Smith Ellison, I wasn't to happy about paying for the new version either. but when they explained it to me it made sense. If I remember correctly they stated that the upgrades were only pertaining to version 5 & 6 which is why they state it in the old FAQ. Version 7 wasn't listed and wasn't included. I did argue that they should have stated it but i looked at my license agreement which I did keep as a practice and couldn't find anything about free upgrades or future purchases and how they would be affected. I see that everybody who doesn't want to pay has pulled up this same thing in just about every blog about RoboForm trying to get something for free. They did admit to having that on their page but it is what it is. I tried a few others and they still are the best so ill stick with them and still tell all my friends. sometimes we have to look at the bigger picture. safety with a new version or insecurity with a newbie. I take the option for security. Bash them if you want to, but you know the truth.

ellison Hi Billy ..
As I've stated... if your happy paying for upgrades that you already paid for in the licensing policy then good for you.Siber systems and everyone else knows that (the then) current customers should have been entitled to the free upgrades as per policy ,and if there were to be any licensing changes etc, then that should have started with new customers.Thats the normal, accepted and decent way to do things.Im not bashing the software. Its great ,and yes I do know the truth ...hence this post !....

Billy Smith Hi Ellison, Please don't take this the wrong way but the only thing that said it was their website. The policy never stated it. Go back and read it if you have it. That's why no one has sued their company for it. I have searched for something like a law suit that would have been filed since they came out with the new version. Nothing found. So i figured it is legit. Not saying that they handled it correctly but they did cover their butts in that policy. If not they would have given out the free licenses.

ellison Hi Billy...
Well Yeah...when i originally purchased roboform pro ,I visited the website and it said one of the benefits of buying the pro version was" free upgrades".I assumed that that statement was real and truthful. There is no other interpretation of it other than upgrades were free.I don't know if anyone has sued them?. Personally I just wouldn't do business with them again, and have found an alternative ,which I now prefer (sticky passwords).I don't mind paying for my software or even for updates and upgrades where it is stated so,but I DO mind being taken advantage of ,and having a licence policy changed contrary to the original agreement, and having the software rendered useless by non support of browser plug-ins.I remember a siber systems spokesperson, stating that no one was being forced to upgrade and that they could continue to use version 6 forever.Of course he didnt mention that it wouldn't work in any of the browsers. How cynical is that?

All,

I understand some of the frustration from the users, but I would like to clarify a few things, answer some of your FAQs from these posts, and to allow you to see Siber Systems' point of view.

Do You have to Upgrade?

No. RoboForm 6 is still available and your are not forced to upgrade at all. Just install the latest version of RoboForm 6 and you can continue to use it forever.

Siber Systems J wood, it is not a special price for upgrades only, it is a special price for everyone $14.95 (upgrades are usually $19.95 and RF Pro is $29.95 therefore this is a discount for everyone!). If you look at the post I said that you could upgrade from V6 to V7. I didn't say there was a discount on the discount . Thank you.

Freddie Jones I don't really see a problem at this point in time. They're offering a reduced price and last I checked I was happy they gave me a reduced price as opposed to having to buy a new license altogether. Ten dollars isn't much for a service that doesn't suck. So let's be grownups in here, quit whining and grow up. Being ballsy and loud mouthed on the internet takes is like being a five year old jumping in puddles. Sure it's fun but real adults don't do it.

Thank you RoboForm for being epic and good to those of us in the iT field. Your RoboForm system is a time saver and your GoodSync 9 Beta is very nice, viva la block level!

By the way before you quip back about how you hate them for reneging on their agreement, remember you're a grown adult. Find a alternative and move on.

Techtoysavvy Siber Please see the post by Res Hum.
I am confused about the term "upgrade". You used "upgrade" again so now I am more confused. I understand exactly what Res Hum wrote.

Your (Siber) comment implies that v6 licenses can be upgraded and that the upgrade can take advantage of the BDJ discount. If this is the case, please explain. If your comment was meant as a way to get old v6 users to purchase new v7 licenses today then please state that and be clear. The confusion is over an overloading of the term upgrade.

I understand how to purchase new v7 licenses through BDJ. I have purchased 2 more v7 licenses on the last BDJ promotion for $25. I still have 2 v6 licenses. Upgrading them costs me $30. So obviously I know it is cheaper to buy 2 NEW licenses and not upgrade my v6 licenses. After the purchase I will have 2 new v7 AND still own my 2 v6.

So I am confused about the upgrade idea and I see no reason to upgrade my v6.

Siber Systems Prasad, this deal is not it any means aimed at V6 users to pursuade them to upgrade in any way, that is incorrect. Current V6 users asked questions about upgrading via BDJ and I told them that this deal ($14.95) is better than the normal upgrade price on our Web site ($19.95) if they wished to take advantage of it today. I think that the confusion was that there was an upgrade button or something of the sort on the Buy Now page, but that is incorrect. A V6 user can take advantage of the BDJ discount today via the Buy Now page. All they have to do is purchase V7 on the Buy Now page, it is simple.

Roger Thomasson Ok folks, here's the last word on several things.

First of all, RoboForm no longer includes lifetime upgrades, updates, or whatever else you want to call it. You get free updates through the major version number. Then you've gotta pay. That's just how it is now, and no amount of complaining is going to change it.

Second, there seems to have been some confusion between BDJ and Siber Systems about offering an upgrade discount for current customers. This is NOT the case, and we at BDJ apologize for the slip up.

However, as has already been mentioned, the current discount price is 25% cheaper than the upgrade price ($14.95/$19.95). Still cheaper, no matter how you slice it.

Now that this is all cleared up, please lay the issues to rest. I'd like to keep this thread somewhat useful for potential customers.

Robert Bull I am a licensed user of v.6. Like others I presumed the license policy was lifetime, until someone on DonationCoder put me right. Now, with the current super-sweetened deal, I'm finally upgrading to v.7. That means I can now consider more recent versions of Firefox too, something I'd held off because RoboForm v.6 wouldn't work with them :)

I've wondered about alternative password/form-filling systems, of which there are now several. But I'm sticking with RoboForm at present because it's worked so well, and it also syncs with my Palm Tungsten T3, so that I can have SafeNotes available without even needing a PC. And if you think a Palm T3 is old tech, well, if it's good enough for uber-hacker Lisbeth Salander, it's good enough for me :))

Techtoysavvy FYI. This is what I understand about Roboform Desktop pricing for v6 users. This price applies every day.

v6 users can upgrade 1 license for $15 or 2 for $30.
v6 users can buy additional new licenses at this price.
1 for $20 or 2 for $30.
The additional license price applies to both v6 & v7 users.

If you have 1 license it is cheaper to upgrade.
If you want to upgrade 2 licenses you are better off buying new licenses and keeping your old ones.
And if you are not a roboform user there is usually a 20% discount so ALL people can buy 2 copies for $32.

And everyone can buy 2 licenses today only for $25.
Oct 4 2011 at 2:08pm Copy Link

Roger Thomasson @ Prasad

No, you are incorrect. Regular 1 license upgrade pricing for v6 is $19.95. Each additional license is $9.95. So, upgrading two licenses is equivalent to today's promotion, while upgrading one license is a better deal on Bits.

Andrew S. Dear Siber Systems: I am an early adopter and long time RoboForm2Go user and advocate. However, due to the nature of my work (federal gov't investigator with gov't passwords), I cannot use version 7 if it has the Everywhere/Cloud feature embedded in it (even if it is not activated). Accordingly, I have two specific questions (but am also open to any other comments or suggestions - other than I should look for another line of work ... I love my job! :-)

1. Is there a simple "on/off switch" indicator that will tell me if the "Everywhere/Cloud" feature has been activated and is syncing to the cloud server (similar to the icon indicator that tells you when you are logged on or off)?

2. Is it possible to purchase a RoboForm2Go Ver.7 without the "Everywhere/Cloud Sync" feature embedded in it?

Many thanks.

Techtoysavvy @Rick I tried to use keepass. I expended some effort but not a lot. I am sure that if I expended more effort I could make it work EXACTLY the way I want. Keepass is extremely flexible and there are all sorts of plugins. After mucking with Keepass over a few months I grew tired and just switched to Roboform. As the expression goes, Roboform worked out-of-the-box.

I would have to resurrect my keepass to answer more questions about why my usage is different than yours. I could do that for yuks. I remember that it was always a pain to get Keepass to fill out fields on different web sites. Keepass does store encrypted passwords. Sync with keepass involves me storing the data somewhere in one of my cloud spaces and then syncing a file on several machines. Roboform makes sync transparent and easy.

I am not fanatical about opensource or pay software. I know people that use GIMP becuase they can not fathom why any one would pays hundreds for photoshop. (I do). On the other side I can not imagine why people buy winzip when 7-zip is out there. I am sure there are reasons for both choices if I investigate.

Lee Garber @ Sieber Systems - I recently won a license for PC Tools Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus. The PC Tools website affiliates itself with Roboform and lists links to Roboform on their website - because I have no use for PC Tools Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus because I already have sufficient Antivirus installed on my PC I asked if I could trade my license or PC Tools Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus for a Roboform Pro license. PC Tools then told me that only the makers of Roboform could comment on giving me a license even though PC Tools lists Roboform on their website? Could some from Sieber Systems provide a contract email here and I will email Sieber Systems to comment rurther. In short I want a license of Roboform (to test) as my business colleagues want me to recommend whether it, Last Pass, or Sticky Password which I have a license for is the best. Lee

SoftCollector @ Siber Systems

1. I bought a license - thank you! Did not get my VAT number on the invoice and logged a support request for the invoice to be reissued with the VAT number. Could you look into it?

2. I am a bit concerned about security. RoboForm seems to be very convenient, but keeping all passwords at one place is a security risk in itself. Will my data be indeed secure with RF? The software seems to be well known for what it does, and if someone gets remote control of my PC, RF will probably be the first place to look into for passwords. There are no unbreachable security protocols. The only unbreakable code is the hacker not knowing where or what to look for - an obscure file at an obscure location, for example.

Your comments are welcome.

Kind Regards,
SC

Is there any reason why a user with the Everywhere version should want the Desktop version as well?

Also, if you do have both, do they synchronize?

Siber Systems Hi Andrew,

If you have Everywhere, you do not need the desktop version. With Everywhere you have all of the RoboForm versions (RF Desktop, RF2Go, RF Mac, RF Everywhere) all rolled in to one! There is really no use for the desktop version if you have RoboForm Everywhere except if you wished to store your data solely on your desktop and not in the cloud. Also, RoboForm Everywhere is a yearly service, so if you did not want to pay yearly or have your data accessible on other devices then you would purchase only the desktop version. Yes they both synchronize.

Siber Systems Hi Duane,

You can still use your V7 Desktop license. You may have exceeded your activations during reinstall or you may not have activated your license properly. Go to RFHelpActivate RF Pro and enter in your order ID. If you are still being asked to pay again please let our support dept know at http://www.roboform.com/support and ask them to give you another activation.

Highly recommended!

Siber Systems Hi @Mihail Garchev,

Thank you so much for the great recommendations for Desktop and Everywhere. Just to clear up some confusion for users who may not know the difference between Everywhere and Desktop- When you purchase the Everywhere license, it is a service that you pay for yearly and includes all of our licenses in one and you can access your RF data on all of your devices. When you purchase the Desktop version, you receive one license for one desktop so you are only installing RoboForm on one computer. This is convenient for users who do not wish to store their data in the cloud, and would like to have their data just on their desktop. Also, if a user does not want to access his or her RF data on multiple devices, then just having one desktop license would be sufficient. Thanks again!

You would have to purchase the Everywhere license- it is the only way that you can sync both computers. The Desktop license does not have the syncing feature, therefore your data will only be available on the computer that you have the license installed.

Siber Systems @Danny,

The great thing about RoboForm Desktop is that you can save your passwords, bookmarks, identities, and safenotes in the RoboForm software (which is displayed as a toolbar in your browser) and access your data on multiple browsers- IE, Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. Your data stays the same on all of the browsers that you use. Also, you securely store your data with the Master Password function, which asks you to enter your Master Password when you log on to your computer and open your browser. That way, only you can access your information- no one else!

Also, RoboForm is not just for saving and securely storing passwords, it has a variety of other functions such as saving bookmarks, safenotes, and identities. The identities feature is awesome because it allows you to save all of your information within RoboForm and fill out any online form in one single click.

Siber Systems @Andy,

There are several reasons why someone would want the Desktop version, instead of Everywhere:

1) They do not need their RoboForm information anywhere else except for their one desktop computer.
2) They do not want to store their data anywhere except for their desktop computer.
3) They do not want a yearly license fee.

It does work with Google Chrome. Make sure you have Google Chrome installed. Then, try updating your RF version at roboform.com/download. Siber Systems Hi @Avatar,

The drawback to the Backup/Restore functionality is it overwrites existing data. It doesn’t merge databases. One license per desktop is our policy for our Desktop license. If you want RF2GO on your USB device, you can purchase that from this page: http://www.roboform.com/p...en&lang=en.

We also may be featuring RF2GO in the near future on Bits.

Siber Systems Hi @Danny,

If you are using the Master Password option, RoboForm stores your login credentials including usernames and passwords in encrypted files called Passcards. Those Passcards are encrypted using military grade AES encryption with the key that is derived from your RoboForm Master Password. The only way to .unlock. one of your Passcards is by using your Master Password.

In addition, Siber Systems follows strict privacy rules regarding users' stored content and you are the only one allowed to access your RoboForm Online account.

This means that absolutely nobody, including Siber Systems, can access your logins or other RoboForm data without knowing your Master Password.

If your computer crashes on you only have RF Desktop (not Everywhere) and have not created a backup copy of your data, then yes you will lose all of your information.

Thanks,
Michelle

Software Babe So, this is a yearly SUBSCRIPTION? I was reading your Everywhere description on your site and it says that it is $9.95 per year. I have 2 PCs, a Tablet, and a Notebook. I need to pay $9.95 a year to sync them all?

I do not understand WHY IT IS A SUBSCRIPTION.

If I purchase the Desktop 7, is it a yearly subscription also?
Thanks!
Sep 7 2012 at 12:41pm Copy Link
0
Siber Systems @software software,

Please note that this offer is NOT a yearly subscription. This offer is for RoboForm Desktop, not RoboForm Everywhere. RoboForm Desktop and RoboForm Everywhere are two different products. RoboForm Desktop is a one time purchase for one desktop license.

RoboForm Everywhere is a yearly subscription that can be purchased at our website http://www.roboform.com. It is $9.95 (50% off for the first year and $19.95 yearly afterwards). You can access your data on all of your computers and mobile devices, which is why it is a yearly subscription. So instead of paying for licenses for all of your devices, one license can be used Everywhere- on every device and computer that you have!

So in your case, RF Everywhere would be the best option for you so that you access your data on all of your devices. RF Everywhere syncs so that all of your RF data is the same on all of your devices. Thanks for your questions.

Thanks,
Michelle

Sam Calabrese Folks seem confused by some of the comments. I have been using RoboForm Desktop and RoboForm2Go for many years and offer this feedback:

- Each RoboForm Desktop license is for a single computer.

- Each RoboForm2Go license is for a single thumb-drive or other portable storage device.

- Each RoboForm Everywhere license is a subscription (usually annual) letting you store your RF data on a remote server that you may access from any number of devices - as long as you have an Internet connection.

I use RF2Go as my "master" database. I also have RF Desktop on desktops and laptops. Periodically I sync the RF databases using GoodSync2Go, installed on the same thumb-drive with RF2Go. I've gone through **many** PW managers over the years but this arrangement has worked well for my needs. I don't use RF Everywhere because much of the time I cannot reach the 'outside' world.

I work in a **very** security-conscious organization. Although RF is indeed strongly encrypted, for my own peace of mind I keep RF2Go installed on a hardware encrypted thumb-drive (256-bit AES). RF still works great from behind that extra layer. I always the thumb-drive with me and never worry about it being compromised, lost, or stolen. Still, we must always be careful what devices we plug into. RF will secure your data but it still needs you to exercise good security practices.

Also consider that RF can store a lot more than just passwords, although that is its specialty. I store notes, contact info, serial numbers, sever passwords, SSN and bio info, account numbers, etc.

DroidLuvr [...@Sam: FYI - I have the Everywhere version, and just so you know, it does not require Internet connectivity to use it! For example, I have it installed on my laptop and my Android phone, but I only need internet access when I need to sync my data.]

@everyone: On my laptop, without internet, it does have all the previously synced and stored data. It just couldn't update from anything I added from my phone until I could sync with internet connection :)

Although I agree that annual subscriptions are not my first choice, this one is worth it, although I really wish I could buy a "lifetime" or at least a longer subscription than just yearly. I couldn't live without it now that I have it though! It just does
everything you could want to save websites, identity and credit card info, passwords, etc.

I also use GoodSync and I just couldn't be happier with Siber Systems support too! As an I.T. tech for more than 20 years, I have to say this company is as good as it gets for all their products!

Version 8 is currently not in our plans, so there is no ETA on its release. If we do release a major version upgrade, we usually provide users with a discount to upgrade ($10 off) or even give free upgrades to users who purchased the previous version within a specific amount of time. I cannot give details on this though because there are no plans at the moment.

You can use the version that you purchase for as long as you want, it just may not work with the most up to date browsers if we do upgrade to another version number.

Was this changed, and even crippled, at 6.10, as asserted by a number of former users ? (Some of whom tried cumbersome work-arounds like reinstalling an earlier version.)

And please explain why you think any newbie would get involved in a password entry program that does not offer full and complete and straightforward export capability ?

Thanks.

Thank you for your suggestions and I apologize for missing your second posting.

As far as the export function goes, I will check in to this information further, as that is something that I will have to speak to our developers about. We do have import and export functionality in our software.

With your concerns about social media and our support team- I am not a part of our support team, but they do an outstanding job! As with any company, you are going to see good and bad reviews for support. I apologize if you have came across any negative reviews.

Social media is an everyday part of users' lives, especially in software- since this is how we reach a majority of our users. We do offer promotions via our social media outlets, but we also get our users involved with contests, asking them questions and suggestions, answering some support questions online, and posting articles, tips, and suggestions for better password management and online security.

Siber Systems Hi @Steven,

Here are the answers to the questions that you asked previously:

Question #1: "Version 6.9 allowed you to export your logins, passwords and URLs for import into other password applications but version 6.10 will not let you export "

There was a print list function in 6.9 that printed the entire login URL. Some users used this function as a quasi export function. We received numerous complaints from our users that the Print List function needed to improve, because when users printed their list of Logins, they wasted a ton of paper, and the formatting wasn't great because the login URLs were too long. So we changed the function from printing the full URL to printing the base URL. That's the only change we made.

Question #2: " Siber Systems has also gone back and removed the option to export with the full URL from version 6.10.2 "
See above.

"The export function was removed from Roboform 7"
This is inaccurate. See above. We simply shortened the Login URL at the request of numerous users.

Question #3: "Please let us know, were these concerns correct when expressed ? What is the current export situation? Would you agree that there is a basic ethical issue involved in having a fully functional export function available?"

We made a change that was based on user feedback. We understand that not all users use our software the same exact way. It's one of the challenges of creating software. What is good for most users may not be good for all users. In this case the majority of our users like the changes, but we have not yet been able to satisfy all users.

Should you have any specific recommendations, please feel free to submit them to our customer support team, who will then discuss them with the developers.

SoftCollector The current version of Roboform Desktop is 7.9.0.0, which means that v8 is around the corner (this software is actively updated with a new build coming out roughly every 3 weeks).

So, the fair question would be: what happens to licenses bought here when v8 comes out? Will buyers have to upgrade?

Siber Systems Hi @SoftCollector,

That is a great question, thank you for bringing it to my attention. If we release RoboForm Desktop Version 8 within a reasonable amount of time frame after you purchase Version 7, then you will mostly likely obtain a free upgrade to Version 8. Since we have not discussed plans for Version 8 yet, I cannot give you a definite answer on this question, but in the past we have given free upgrades to users who have purchased within a few months of the release of a higher version number.

Siber Systems Hi @Mark Johnson,

We do not compare ourselves to our competitors, but here are a few reasons why people choose to use RoboForm over other password managers:

1) We Have Experience You Can Count On
RoboForm has been helping users with top-of-the-line password management software since 1999. While other password managers have come and gone, RoboForm has been consistently helping our users for nearly 15 years!

2) We Believe Software Should Be Ad-Free
You will never see one of those pesky advertisements in any version of RoboForm.

3) We Believe in Options
Unlike other password managers, we do not force you into the “cloud.” You can choose between storing files locally on your computer (Desktop mode) and syncing them to the cloud (Everywhere mode). Everywhere mode gives you the ability to sync between multiple computers and mobile devices.

4) We Have Your Back
We are the only password manager to offer phone support. We also offer free live chat & 24/7/365 email support.

5) We are Trusted Throughout the World
Millions of users worldwide and several well-respected media sources recommend RoboForm.

6) We’ve Made it Simple to Use
Our users range in age from 9 to 99. It's easy to get started and easy to use.

In addition, going forward it is very clear that there are free updates within a version, but not free upgrades. We upgraded our software about three years ago. It is an old issue that's been addressed multiple times.

If you have a question specific to the version you are using please do not hesitate to contact our support team at http://www.roboform.com/support.

Thank you,
Michelle

Innuendo I'm usually not one to jump into discussions I don't have a stake in, but I have to take exception in this case.

Before version 7, Siber Systems most assuredly advertised free lifetime upgrades for RoboForm. Here's a link from the WayBack Web Archive:

http://web.archive.org/we...y-pro.html

One might say that the mention of "Free Upgrades" is ambiguous, but everyone who contacted tech support was told that yes, you'd get upgrades free forever. This is probably one of the reasons why they lost their Better Business Bureau accreditation:

http://www.bbb.org/washin...a-7004423/

You really, really, really, really have to have bad business practices to lose your BBB accreditation.

Lastly, when I last checked there was a *huge* security flaw in RoboForm where even if the program was locked with a Master Password, anyone could still change settings in the program, including deleting the encrypted password database.

When made aware of this flaw, Siber Systems said it wasn't serious enough to fix.

Everything I have just said can be verified with searches in your favorite web search engine. Hundreds of people have posted their experiences with this company and this software on the internet. It is up to you to decide if you want to have dealings with this company.

What saddens me is that it did not always used to be this way. RoboForm was once at the top of the heap with no peer. Let's hope Siber Systems finds its way back to its glory days soon.

Siber Systems Hi @Innuendo,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. Again, we have addressed this multiple times in the past. This does not say "Lifetime" upgrades and to suggest that every person that contacted support was told they would receive lifetime upgrades is not correct. We have already apologized numerous times that we were not crystal clear on "Updates" versus "Lifetime Upgrades" back in 2008.

As for the BBB rating, yes, we were dropped by the BBB. When you have millions of users worldwide, you are bound to get complaints. In the BBB case, they felt that 93 complaints over 3 years was too much. Although this was a minuscule portion of our active user base and we showed them numerous examples of other companies with large user bases getting a lot more than 93 complaints every year, we were unsuccessful in getting the BBB to reverse their decision.

I am not sure what you are referencing in terms of huge security flaw, but the software does allow a user to change their Options in RoboForm without entering their Master Password. But your RoboForm data can never be accessed or viewed without a Master Password. We understand that some people may not agree with this approach, but it does not appear to be a huge security issue, but rather a user preference issue.

Our goal is just to make sure everyone is using a password manager. In today's day and age where hackers are consistently hacking into company's databases, the number one thing a user can do to protect themselves is to use a different password on every site. Of course that makes it very difficult to remember your passwords, so therefore it's very beneficial to use a password manager.

Thank you,
Michelle

Roderick Nicolson I've been using RoboForm for many years now. And there is only one reason for that - it's one of the most useful programs I own. I now have hundreds of passwords I don't know. They are all very complicated so are effective. Before RoboForm they were very simple and probably easy to crack. And now I only need to know one, which is fantastic as far as I'm concerned. It also allows me to store personal and important information in an easy to use and find way.

From what I've seen website changes continue to make it difficult for password managers. I have to update often otherwise new windows and pages become invisible to RoboForm. This seems to be a continuing battle.

I only ever had one major flaw concern about RoboForm. It was during version 6. I have never mentioned it before now, however, and so am curious as to whether Siber Systems was ever aware of it's flaw.
I used to use my last laptop and computer very heavily, as I still do with my new one now. And I never had a problem running RoboForm with the old laptop and computer - that was - until my systems became heavily overloaded. Then, all of a sudden, I found I could access all my RoboForm Identities, and Safe notes, without the need of a password.
As said, I never mentioned it and so could not have expected a fix for that problem. I have noticed though, that on version 7 the bug that I saw on version 6 does not exist, so am now curious as to whether Siber Systems had been aware of this problem at the time.
I am not bringing this up for any wilful malicious pleasure, as I'm a full advocate of RoboForm. I love it, and it makes my life online so much more manageable than it had been before I'd used it. I'm bringing it up out of an interest. I'm interested in the variety of ways a company like Siber System must use to search out and deal with the multitude of problems they face, in an every changing environment to make their product water tight; and if my failure to say anything has had an effect on that.

Steven Aves I've used Roboform for somewhere around 10 years now. Currently I have the Everywhere license. Previously I had the need for the desktop version since I was using it in a small office environment. One of the unique benefits of the desktop version (I believe this is still true) is access to your Roboform data on a network. Each person can log in to their Roboform data on whatever terminal is on the network.

When I staggered staffing one terminal could accommodate multiple people's Roboform access. Also, I could manage the office-wide logins too.

BitsDuJUser With Roboform Everywhere, you already comromise the security of all your sensitive information and place it in hands of the company.

The company does not secure 100% safety and expressly declares to not to undertake any liability in cases of theft.

If the information is hacked, then you have no claims against the company for their irrespopnsible management of databases that could be potentially hacked.

If it was not hacked, does not mean that shall remain the same.

Have I understood the above correct?

Mark Johnson @Michelle - Siber Systems
thank you for responding to my question yesterday, but i was hoping to see a recent comparison between Roboform and LastPass. The reason I asked about a comparison is because I did my own comparison about 3 years ago. At that time I had a license for Roboform but was not satisfied with the accuracy of it filling out forms, including simple userid/password combinations. Often it would fill out forms inaccurately and I would have to go into Roboform settings to retrieve the userid/password to use manually on the forms. That's what made me go in quest of something else, and LastPass was the solution I found that worked much more accurately with a wide variety of web forms.

Basically that's why I was asking. I was wondering if improvements had been made in Roboform in the past 3 years in accuracy of form completion, so I should evaluate it again against LastPass. I'm quite surprised that Siber Systems doesn't do comparisons like this, to see areas where the software could be improved. If you don't do comparisons with competitors, how do you know where your product is lacking?

Thanks,
Mark.

Siber Systems Hi @Roderick,

This was never a problem that we identified, nor had any other user identified. The master password has always been required to access RoboForm data. Unfortunately, it would be difficult to go back now and try to try to replicate it. It may have been something simple like you changed the master password timeout. I apologize that I can't be more specific at this time, but without more specific details it's difficult to provide any additional info.

Please feel free to contact our support team anytime at support.roboform.com.

Thank you,
Michelle

Siber Systems Hi @mailing,

Even if the servers are not secure (they are), the hacker would still need to know your Master Password in order to access your data.

Siber Systems Hi @Mark,

Thanks for your questions and comments. In the past three years RoboForm has definitely improved in all areas, including one of our most important features: form filling. You can try it for free by downloading the free trial at www.roboform.com/download. That way, you do not have to make any type of purchase until you try it out first.

As far as our competition, there are many other password managers in the market and more are appearing each day. We compare our product internally, but we do not publicize why we are better than each individual password manager.

One thing that does make RoboForm different from LastPass is that you have the option to store your data locally on your desktop and not in the cloud. You can test out both pieces of software and check out the differences if you would like.

Again, I do apologize but we do not do product to product comparisons of our password manager with others.

Thank you,
Michelle

Thank you for your response. Since I sync LastPass among several computers and mobile devices the desktop only option is not viable for me.
Looking through your website I see an update history for the desktop product at http://www.roboform.com/support/news but I do not see an update history for the 'everywhere' product. Where can I find that?

Siber Systems Hi @Mark,

The version news page is actually for our RoboForm Everywhere version updates here: http://www.roboform.com/support/news. The desktop version is included in Everywhere, so the version news is a combination of both. Any information within the updates that has to do with mobile devices or syncing are for the Everywhere option.

I hope this helps, thank you!

Keyboard Cowboy You can get a discount on the Roboform Everywhere version now at the Roboform site. With the discount, it costs $4.95 for the first year. Granted, the cost after the first year is, in my opinion, high at $20/year. I admit I'm tempted, at least to give it a try for a year. In my opinion, a license that doesn't have free upgrades for life, and can only be installed on one computer, is very expensive at $30.

MojoMan @Keyboard Cowboy - I went to the website and it appears to me that the license for RF Everywhere covers usage on all your computers. So, imho that makes RF Everywhere a cheaper alternative and a better solution since it syncs on all your devices. And... it appears to have a comprehensive browser toolbar (though it takes another line of browser real estate).

I've been using Last Pass which works very nicely for passwords and basic form filling. RF does more than the free version of Last Pass though the free version of PL does sync and is therefore a free solution. For myself, having bookmarks available across all devices, which RF does, is an important advantage.

I'm giving RF Everywhere a trial and will likely subscribe if it functions as I expect.

Keyboard Cowboy Dwayne -- I agree, I bought the Roboform Everywhere version at the $4.95. That's a stellar deal to try a program out. The usual $20 per year to continue the "subscription" seems a bit high in price, but I admit it isn't fair to judge the cost until I use the program. I've been a big fan and user of Password Depot for many years....PD is the benchmark for comparison. I'm anxious to wring Roboform out -- I've been an armature beta tester for many software programs for years now and this will be a fun project.
