What are people saying about SafeWallet

Software Guy for a good review read that provided by phrish here -please keep in mind that those are older reviews. major competitors are keepass (free) and ewallet - ewalletgo is $4.99.
Some key features overlap that of roboform (password and login) but roboform, for greater cost has additional features (form filling).
Seems a good, safe way to keep password and credit card information and synch between devices. Appears to have a strong Android following. Convenient.
Interestingly, we recently canvassed a number of people to see how each keeps password info. The old fashioned method still predominates - an encrypted word/doc/text file with coded passwords was by far the most popular followed by unencrypted but coded files, then finally various password managers. What is a coded file? Something that has meaning only to you such as daught#son# might mean Anne1Bob2 but it only has significance to you. Another way to code the same password might be A_ _ _ _1B _ _ _ . Yes, these are safe and will do most of the time UNTIL someone steals that laptop and becomes hell bent on getting that credit card info - with a little work they will see your code and figure from records what they mean. Obviously, a good password/credit card manager is a much safer way to protect your critical data.

dory Zidon HI SoftwareGuy!

First you are spot on.
Many people do use only a word file, which is a bit like leaving your front door open and ajar when you leave the house..The other is using the same password on all sites, another horrible way to manage passwords.

A Good Password Manager offers the highest level of security and convenience too.

While keepass and ewallet etc are nice, we offer much more in terms of uniform, easy of setup and much more. We are about to offer a brand new sync that will make life so much simpler.

We will also be adding form filling later on in the year, so stay tuned.

We have exciting plans on how to make this an awesome product.

Thanks for your support!

Lifetime Upgrades Hello SafeWallet.

I am pleased to see your software here at Bitsdujour and am very interested in it.

I also see a different upgrade policy in place on your site at this page:
Is the lifetime upgrade policy only valid if you purchase here or is your policy incorrect?

Mar 27 2012 at 4:50am Copy Link
Mark K I was a beta tester for the iOS and Windows versions. This software is great. SBSH has been very responsive to feedback. The iOS version (not free) works great with the Windows desktop software. Syncing is the simplest I've ever encountered. It just works and it does it fast. The Windows software integrates with your several commonly used browsers.

I am perplexed about these 2 policy statements:

"SafeWallet is licensed per computer, and not per user."

"Each license allows installation on all owned computers, and SafeWallet may be used at exactly the same time on each of them."

One is the contradiction of the other.

dory Zidon HI Lupke,

Thanks for the positive words.
Right now portable browsers are not supported.

I suggest you follow us on , we constantly improve and add more platforms.

SBSH Software - Mar 27 2012 at 6:13am Copy Link
dory Zidon HI Mark,

You are right it does not match, either way we will be soon issuing a new sync, that will infact be licensed per user and have no platform or computer dependency.

We will also update our Policy to match that.

Thanks for pointing this out!
SBSH Software - Mar 27 2012 at 6:17am Copy Link
dory Zidon HI Lifetime policy,

We normally provide free updates to all users, no matter where they purchase.

We do however once in a long while offer a paid upgrade on a certain platform (very rarely I might add) which isn't covered.
(you'll notice the support we have from our users)

Our policy is subject to change when we go live with our new service as our costs go up a lot, but it is done so customers will get a better experience.

Rest assured that whenever our policy changes we will look after our users, provide them with backwards support and ensure a smooth and painless transition.
Wwe are here to build an awesome service and have a loyal and loving customers as we have been having for the past 8 years.

Doug Atkinson Similar question to Mark K.:

"SafeWallet is licensed per computer, and not per user."

"Each license allows installation on all owned computers, and SafeWallet may be used at exactly the same time on each of them."

Perhaps that means you can install it on multiple computers, and those computers can have more than one user? So, if I own five computers, and those computers are also used by my family, that's okay...if I'm reading this right.
Mar 27 2012 at 6:23am Copy Link
VLM 1. So to be clear ... SafeWallet now DOES offer form filling in IE, Firefox, perhaps other browsers, correct?

2. Also, you write: "There's no need to even think of strong passwords anymore, since SafeWallet helps you to create them and stores them for you!"

But ,... I still CAN create my own PWDs if I wish to, correct?

3. Does SafeWallet import existing pwds from another application such as RoboForm? Or do I have to begin anew?

4. Does SafeWallet offer a means to store non-PWD info safely, as the SafeNotes feature of RoboForm does? Software Guy did not mention this feature, but I find it very handy for safely storing software registration info and the like.

The price certainly is appealing

lupke Nachoe Hi,

Looks great. I use a portable browser, is SafeWallet available in a portable version?

Mar 27 2012 at 8:21am Copy Link
Joe M I installed the trial version. But it does not work using Mozilla Seamonkey 2.8. When I tried to install it it said that I was using Firefox 2.8 and that your program requires Firefox 12.0A1.
LastPass work fine on Seamonkey.

Lifetime Upgrades Thank you for the followup.

I just wish to be clear about this policy, because Roboform advertised as a lifetime upgrade at one time but has since went to yearly updates and did not honor its purchasers before the policy change.

So, with that, I guess you are not offering lifetime upgrades for users who purchase.

Thank you and I hope you much success, because your software is very promising.
Mar 27 2012 at 9:23am Copy Link
dory Zidon Doug Atkinson

In general we allow you to use each license on all devices.
Hence if you have 6 computers you can use it on all of them.
SBSH Software - Mar 27 2012 at 9:54am Copy Link
dory Zidon VLM,

1) safewallet auto fills username and password forms, not full details forms. those will be coming up later on in the year.

2) of course you can still create your own password. SafeWallet just offers you an easy way to generate strong passwords for your accounts.

3) yes SafeWallet supports some imports, and very soon will offer an extensive import to all known password managers. not 100% sure in regards to Robofrom right now.

4) Yes it does. Rather than cramming everything into a toolbar we also offer a management app, you can add any type of data. the mobile clients offer that as well.

Hope this makes sense.

dory Zidon hi Joe McCormick,

I posted above, we support FF 3.5 and above.
Currently we do not work wiht portable version.

SBSH Software - Mar 27 2012 at 10:02am Copy Link
dory Zidon Hi Lifetime Upgrades,

We do offer lifetime updates with some exceptions:

1) Once in a while we make paid updates. Many times those are optional.

2) As we constantly develop, and innovate our product, the product you have today can be different to the product we offer in 1, 2 or 5 years down the road.

3) You can always use your software, but we have the right to stop supporting products and stop issuing product updates, as we might be making newer products etc.

Hence you will have lifetimes updates for this software.
However if we make newer products or lines we might offer paid updates / change our policy.

We do our best to look after our users, and always allow them to continue using what they paid for :)

Hope this makes sense.
SBSH Software - Mar 27 2012 at 10:06am Copy Link
dory Zidon Doug Atkinson,

Correction in regards to the license.

When you buy the license we expect you can use it on a computer you bought it for, whereas if you have 6-7 computers we'd expect you to buy a licnese for ecah computer.

HAve as many users as you want use it on any of the computers.
Hope this makes snse.

Joe M I see that it does support Fire Fox but it doesn't support Seamonkey. Is that correct?
Mar 27 2012 at 10:40am Copy Link
Amit Regev Hi Joe,

The SafeWallet installer supports automatic installation of SafeWallet browser add-ons for Chrome, Firefox and IE. I never had the chance to try it with Seamonkey, however, if Seamonkey is based on the same architecture used with Firefox most chances that you'll be able to install SafeWallet Firefox extension with Seamonkey too pretty easily. :)

Since we haven't tested SafeWallet FF extension with Seamonkey I can't give a definitive answer on this, however, if by default other Firefox extensions can be installed on Seamonkey than it should be possible to install SafeWallet on Seamonkey too.

In a similar way, although our installer is designed to install SafeWallet on Chrome, we have a lot of users using it with Chromium and a few other browsers, all of which are developed on top of the Chromium infrastructure.

Let me know if you need a bit more details how to install SafeWallet FF extension manually with Seamonkey and I'll gladly post some short instructions on this.

Cheers! :)
Mar 27 2012 at 12:28pm Copy Link
Joe M When I go to Sea Monkey and click on ADD ONS I get a search bar.
"I search for Safewallet and get "No Results Found"

I was able to install your program and create a wallet, I just can't get Seamonkey to recognize it.

Amit Regev Hi Joe,

I haven't tried getting it installed with SM, so can't tell for sure if this will work, but reading through the internet I believe it will most likely work just fine - as most Firefox extensions should also work nicely with SM.

Here is what I could find. First, grab our SafeWallet FF extension installation file from the direct download link here:

Then, take a look at the short instructions here explaining how to get a FF plugin to install with SM:

We will also review this more closely with upcoming updates to allow users to install the extension with SM more easily; We never implemented something like this as this is the first request for it that we received. :)

Let me know how it goes!

dory Zidon egmweb,

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience, we do our utter most best to help and respond to all users.

Android sync works great, we have been getting lots of great user reviews, have a large user base using SafeWallet daily, and I personally use it all the time.

I'm also unsure as to what update caused you to lose all your password, but I doubt it was our software, our updates do not change your account file, called a wallet file.

Either way we offer backup and restore and have dedicated support people.

Would be happy to assist you further should you require that.

Joe M Amit Regev

I tried it and it did not work. I went to I did not understand the purpose of step 4. Maybe I did something wrong. To me it is not worth the frustration and time to modify a file to get your add-on to work.

I have found a lot of Fire Fox add-ons do not work with Seamonkey.

I guess I will stick with Last Pass since it did have the add-on for Seamonkey.
Mar 27 2012 at 5:10pm Copy Link
Steven Avery Hi,

Nice software, clearly well respected by reviewers. LastPass and KeePass are for me also interesting, LastPass being more cloud oriented. However, you seem to have some special strengths, with strong support and innovations.

Let us say that I am on the road, and happy to keep some file, or my Safewallet password, available on a USB or in my fav cloud spot(s). Or handy by me (if just the master Safewallet password).

Can you explain the exact mechanism (or a Utube or write-up with pics) for then using Safewallet ?

And I would like some redundancy (e.g. USB is forgotten, cloud site is down) . I can gain that redundancy through my fav cloud spots, as long as I keep their password a little less uncomplex than a generated one that itself needs Safewallet to remember.

A related question. . the login url changes (not the top domain). What is the procedure ?

Mar 27 2012 at 8:17pm Copy Link
Mitch User Just so I understand correctly:
I have 3 computers and a tablet that only I use, I would have to purchase a license for each. But you will be issuing a new version that will sync all platforms and will be licensed by user?

Will I have to pay again for that version or will it be a free upgrade.

Also can you confirm if I can easily import from Roboform to safewallet?

shamir bhatia Does SafeWallet sync with Blackberry and with older devices running Windows Mobile Second Edition like the Dell Axim X50? And can it act as a sort of list manager at the same time (which is how I use eWallet)? Thanks.
Apr 4 2012 at 11:21am Copy Link
Amit Regev Thanks Joe for the follow-up and feedback!

I'm afraid that we'll most likely need a bit more time to investigate this and create a new build with specific Seamonkey support. We will make sure to investigate this along with our upcoming updates and we'll post more news about it as soon as we have things ready.

Thanks again for the feedback! Have a great day! :)

2. Each site will have a new, distinct, and safe PW that I can activate each time from MY SW account without having to remember the specific new, safer PWs?

3. What prevents someone from hacking into my SW account and thus accessing each of my safe sites?

4. I can buy and install on my laptop and then access sites through SW from my desktop? Or I WILL be able to do that shortly. All with ONE purchase?

Daniel Black I would like my money for this purchase refunded please. It will not sync from my computer to my iPhone. The iPhone app, which you seem to have to pay for separately after having already paid for the PC application, crashes once you try to sync using PC.

I read the reviews of the iPhone app after already purchasing, unfortunately, and it seems to be a persistent problem for users.

Bits Du Jour should be ashamed of themselves for selling applications that don't work as advertised on their site.

Do you even test these apps???

Refund please!

lynxdor On the Mac App Store, it is said working only on Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later and it costs $5.99. The version is 1.2

On the editor's website, it works on Mac OS X Leopard (10.5), Snow Leopard (10.6) or Lion (10.7) and it costs $14.99. The version is the same : v.1.2. From this page you download the trial from the editor's website.

Why the same version is for Mac OS X 10.5 and later but only for Mac OS X 10.6.6 later ?
Why does it costs less on the App Store for the same version ?

Timothy Wallace It would be nice if the sites listed in the wallet could be clicked on so they can be directly visited from the Wallet application. Maybe a setting in Options for the default browser to be used for this action, or a right click to choose which browser.

That way, if I wish to visit secured sites, such as banking and credit cards, I could do it from one location.

Right now, I save this information in a file and click on a link I created. Using the current implentation, I would still have to do this.

Unless this functionality is already built in, and I just don't know how to access it?
