What are people saying about Screen Calipers

Richard Blake I've been eyeing this and protractor for quite some time. They, and compass & tracing paper, which I just discovered, look like nice additions to my toolkit. To pay the bills, though, I've got to draw the line somewhere, and so far these have seemed too marginal to my needs to make the cut. It would help greatly, though, if I could install and run these from a USB flash drive , so that at least I can purchase one copy and use at home, at work, or wherever. (If that's not possible, a license allowing install on multiple PCs but to be used only by me would do. (Incidentally, I bike 21 miles daily to work and back. Due to risk of damage (and weight) I cannot lug a laptop; therefore I am stuck maintaining multiple PCs.) Do the licenses for your product accomodate my needs?
Thanks.

Tony Setti HELP!!!

I'd like to get the Mac and Windows versions, but the order form doesn't specify that. What do I do?? Simply order 2 of the software and sort it out later?

Thanks!

If you click on 'Product Catalog' on the top of the left menu then you'll be able to choose the Mac version of the product.

Tony Setti Found it. However, it's not giving the discount on both, only on one, no matter which I add first to the cart. Yet, if I order two of the Windows one, it gives me the discount on both.

Thanks!

Ah right, we set up the coupon to be like that, I've changed it so it should work now. Our shopping cart can take up to 10 minutes to register a change to the coupon, so you should be able to get it before the time runs out!

Software Guy Will this run from a USB drive? It is somewhat of a specialized tool. Also, what does your EULA allow - can I install on my desktop, notebook and netbook, or computers that I use? What are the restrictions? Thanks.

The software will run from a USB but you would need to register it on each computer you have a license for. Licenses are per computer and allow installation on one additional portable computer per license.

John H I tried this program before and it was great on my old IBM XP Thinkpad. Am ready to purchase tonight but find that the downloaded version does not drag around smoothly on my screen making it impossible to accurately place it over anything. Am currently using a 64 bit Vista Home Premium with 4 GB of Ram. Is the trial now this crippled?

Does our email address become public if we enter it in the form?

Thanks

I'd try a quick restart of your system, it shouldn't drag unless you're running a lot of applications. We don't cripple the software.

Daniel Walker Is the protractor coming too? I've been waiting to see if BOTH would be offered together - ever. ?? I really do NOT want one without the other as I see them working together.

I'd like to try them on survey boundary maps or on drawing made from legal descriptions (for drawing -and- area calculations).

???

Sukru Boztepe I could not think who would use such unnecessary software… Then for a project, I purchased it. It was more than a year ago, ever since I have been using it everyday.

There are many reasons to use this software, even though you do not know what that would be at the moment.

Do yourself a favor and buy this. You will enjoy it.

Barry Kintner This is ridiculous. The last half-dozen times I've TRIED to purchase a product here - I am unable. Today - the 'total' does NOT reset to what is posted. You ask for all credit info BEFORE giving me a total that is correct.

And this is the furthest I've been able to get in quite awhile. I give up. I've missed several deals as the site just will not let me in - beyond the new screens just to SEE what you are selling.

I've re-registered with my name - and it STILL will NOT work correctly for me. I'm done.

Barry,

I'm sorry I didn't get to this in time but the deal is expired, however I'll contact you off-list so we can resolve this. As far as i know the discount worked fine for everyone else. You don't need to register to see the deal, all you need do is click our "Buy Now" button, it;s really very straightforward.

I'll shoot you an email and I'm sure we can get to the bottom of what's happening for you.

Albus Dumbledore I work in real estate appraising and frequently need a tool to calculate areas of properties or easements that have irregular boundaries. It looks like Screen Caliper along with Screen Tracing Paper could be invaluable. Will STR be included in the BitsDuJour offer for Screen Caliper?

James Kenney Will your tools share the scalling infor from one to the other?
Can you use the calipers to set the scale by measuring the printed map scale and transfer that to the area tool?

Do you have a combo price for your screen measuring tools(with or without tracing paper)?

M M I would have bought this if I knew for sure that you are going to make it work with Lion, but I have the same problem as ferrel1 and Eddie Tex above. After waiting for months for this to go on sale, I blew it, the one day we take a hiking trip and didn't get to a computer... I know you can't make exceptions no matter what the reason that I missed it, but could you at least tell us that you'll run the promo again within a certain amount of time - maybe a month or so! I hope you'll consider that there have been plenty of days when we go to BitsDuJour only to find nothing for sale on your home page, but as loyal customers we keep coming back.

Sorry, but we can't give any indication as to future promotions. Kind of goes against our business model :-)

Feel free to click the "I Want This" button however and we'll shoot you an email if and when Screen Calipers hits the schedule again.

feral1 One of the reasons I word my postings the way I do is so that they do not get twisted and spun around.

I got no email from you on the 29th. Yes I checked my trash as well as the account I have all messages copied to in the event something happens.

I would not have asked the question if the answer was in my email records. So now what? Make an offer and make it so I can't take advantage of it. Well it is your loss.

I'll make my own offers to the companies directly and they can have or leave my money.

Eddie Tex @ferrel1,

Bits du Jour and Iconico (makes of Screen Calipers) are run by the same folks (see bottom of this page for the Iconico logo).

My recommendation to you would be to just make it a habit to check the BDJ homepage each day to see what's available that day.

As for me, I'm just a little disappointed that my question about licensing wasn't answered until after the promotion was finished, but oh well.

Alex Sem I am going to look for alternatives. I am tired. If you can't make it work with Lion, then stop selling it as a MAC app. Keep it just for Windows platform. It seems like you do not respect your clients.

Alex, The application does not work on Lion, as we state in the Policy section of the page and on the Iconico website. It's not a question of respect, more economics. Jon the application has not been update since the release of Lion.

Constantin Florea @Jon P, Protractor and Compass applications are included in the Screen Measurement Pack which is offered today for $24.58 (regular $74.50).

@G G To run the application on Lion you would need to use a virtualization software such as Parallels (it will work).

Dave Doiron I own a registered copy of Screen Calipers for my PC and love it. I recently purchased a Mac, transitioning from the PC for my graphics work. I was under the impression that a version for the Mac was also on sale as part of this offer, but when I finished the purchase process there was just the download for Windows. I don't need another Windows copy, but I do want a Mac copy. What happened?
