Maury R Hello - a couple of questions:
1-does your software have a link back to your company in the published form?
2-can your forms be configured to also email the form info to third parties - like clients we are webmasters for?
3-Is this a web based application?

Thanks!

No 2 -can your forms be configured to also email the form info to third parties - like clients we are webmasters for? It can be set up to send one email with the form data in it, to whatever email you wish. 3 -Is this a web based application? Bill User Licence activation isn't required OR Mandatory Product Activation (based on computer hardware) - Which is correct?

Policy on this page states "License activation isn't required."

However, the End-User License Agreement on the website states: (J) "Mandatory Product Activation" - "You may need to activate the Software via the Internet or telephone; toll charges may apply. There are technological measures in this Software that are designed to prevent unlicensed or illegal use of the Software. You agree that ECI may use those measures and you agree to follow any requirements regarding such technological measures. You may also need to reactivate the Software if you modify your computer hardware or alter the Software. Product activation is based on the exchange of information between your computer and ECI.

I'm interested, but need clarification before purchase. TIA

Rob Schumann I bought the Mac license under this offer and upon trying to unlock the software received the error:

"cannot contact license server"

The software was originally produced by seagreensoftware, but their website is also not responding and I'm left wondering as to the legitimacy of my purchase. I've tried accessing the website directly and via a proxy with the same results... no response from server.

How therefore do I unlock the software if the license server is dead in the water?

What is the relationship between iconico and the original software publisher, seagreensoftware?

Rob Schumann Thanks for clarifying the relationship...

The problem persists. Cannot connect to license server.

Both seagreensoftware.com and ecisoftware.com (parent) websites are dead in the water.

I'm guessing that one or other of these is where the license server sits, so until they are resuscitated any unlock attempts will fail.

I can ping both. at least!

Monique SeaGreen Developer SeaGreen does in fact have to communicate with the license server in order to verify and activate your license. Apparently the server was down and was restarted a few hours ago.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience and delays!

Nelson Therrien Hi,

Is there a way to "reset" a trial period? I just installed it and I receive the message that my 30 days trial period is over...

I know that some people had the same issue before, but I remember having install it last year, when there was another bitsdujour special... So, it's probably because of that...

I don't remember why I finally didn't buy it then (possibly just because I didn't do too much development work at that time), so I'd like to try it again... Is it possible to reset the 30 days trial?

Monique SeaGreen Developer Hello Nelson,

Thanks for giving SeaGreen another try!

If you're on a PC, please uninstall SeaGreen using the "Start Menu ECI Software Uninstall" option. You may also need to "right click + delete" the folder from your start menu.

Then reinstall and let me know how it goes.

VLM Can SeaGreen create multi-page surveys, enabling a user to use the browser's standard forward and back keys to navigate around in the form?

Can one easily and straightforwardly set the tabbing order in a form?

Are multipage/multiscreen forms supported? How? (generally)

Are the forms created locally and installed directly onto our own web pages, without having to go through or use your server(s) for setup, data collection, reporting, or the like in any way?

What, in your view, separates or distinguishes SeaGreen from, say, PHP Forms?

Thank you kindly.

Zoran Paljevic Lol., I bought this just now.. And I cannot believe this is 149$ worth! After 65mb download it returned me to the "stone age" of some Windows 98 or 2000.. It's awful interface and 1st form preview made me very disappointed. I'll run my Uninstaller in turbo mode right now.

Monique SeaGreen Developer Dear Emissary:

You have a lot of questions! Please see below for some answers:

Can SeaGreen create multi-page surveys, enabling a user to use the browser's standard forward and back keys to navigate around in the form?

Multi-page forms/surveys are not a feature of SeaGreen at this time. It may be considered for future or "pro" versions.

Can one easily and straightforwardly set the tabbing order in a form?

The tabbing order is set by the order of your form fields on the layout grid.

Are multipage/multiscreen forms supported? How? (generally)

SeaGreen cannot create multi-page forms/surveys at this time.

Are the forms created locally and installed directly onto our own web pages, without having to go through or use your server(s) for setup, data collection, reporting, or the like in any way?

The forms that you create in SeaGreen are "expanded" on your server after publication via the Publish Step of SeaGreen. You do not need any other server outside of your own web hosting provider.

What, in your view, separates or distinguishes SeaGreen from, say, PHP Forms?

SeaGreen uses your form to create a MySQL database. It also writes the code required to connect with that database. PHP Forms requires that you create the database yourself as well as the code necessary to connect to the database. SeaGreen was created for users who are not comfortable coding in PHP or creating databases.

Also, is the code completely HTML 5 compliant?

SeaGreen has not been specifically tested with HTML 5. Please let us know if you encounter any issues.

Can we work with a MySQL database of our own creation and design?

No - when you publish your form, SeaGreen creates the database it needs to store your data. This software is intended for users who are not comfortable with creating databases.

Also, for security reasons, there are certain documents, which we intend to make available for download but which we will store on our hosting site OUTSIDE the public_html directory. Will the tool generate code that can pull a file from such a location, or will we need to provide and add such code?

On your form, you can create a link to the files that users can click to access them. Does it need to be more complicated than that?

Does the integrated ftp functionality support sftp? Or will we need to go elsewhere for that?

It should. Please let me know if you have any problems with this.

Also, can we specify the local location where our forms and related files are stored? Or does SeaGreen require use of some hard-coded default directory(ies)?

Yes - you choose the publish directory in the Publish Step of SeaGreen. The software will then place the supporting files (such as javascript or CSS) where it needs them in relation to your form's URL.

Are their tools for alignment (e.g., left, center, right, within a defined space), distribution (as evenly spaced elements in a defined area, by centers, edges, etc.), and the like? Or is such design limited to grid or no grid?

SeaGreen's grid interface is intended to allow layout of your form without the knowledge of HTML or CSS. The grid allows you to align and space your form elements without the need for alignment tools.

Zoran Paljevic @The Presiding Emissary for Vibrant Living Ministries and Successors, sorry my friend- I cannot answer this question until BDJ allow me to do so. I'm sure someone is frequently reading our posts and if they give us permission I'd be happy to answer you. I'm glad BDJ did not delete my comment on SeaGreen and I post that to help all of you but the SeaGreen and BDJ too..

@Monique SeaGreen Developer, thanks for your offer to refund the software but that's not the question.. If you understand my post- that's enough for me and on that basis I'll wait for an upgrade (new version). Hope you're aware that out there's 100000 new domains and about 500000 revamped websites every day and maybe my sharp comment will be a proper message to you. I am SURE that further investment in application of this kind is a gold mine, for you first of all. As it is, the SeaGreen have no what to do in today's world as there's several applications up to 40$ without discount and MUCH more powerful. Wake up!

HJ B I am confused by the comments in the prior posts:

1. Is this application compliant with Windows 7 64 bit? One of the answers to a post says it was developed for xp and was expected to be compliant with Vista.

2. Is the developer of this program still a functioning company/participant in its management and support?

3. Are there any pre-made forms that can be used by us directly or as patterns for how the application can be most effectively used or to try-out the various functions?

4. I use Microsoft Expression Web 4. Can this Seagreen application be integrated into the EW4 author environment or is there any issue as to whether a form created with Seagreen can be added to the EW4 environment?

5. I support my websites from several different computers, depending upon where I am at the time. Will this license permit me to install the application on more than one computer used only by me?

6. Does using this form creation utility limit any of the options that would otherwise be available to me under mysql or php?

I am happy to see that your manual is in pdf format. However, I did not see anything concerning those questions in the manual.

Best wishes,
HJ B

Monique SeaGreen Developer Hello HJ B!

Here are some answers for you:

1. It is compliant with Vista. And we have some users on Windows 7. We have not been able to attribute any particular issues to these two operating systems.

2. Yes!

3. Not at this time. We've considered creating a few templates for download; however, it has become apparent that the way our customers use this application varies too greatly for templates to be of much use.

4. You should be able to merge a SeaGreen form with any HTML page - just leave an empty DIV tag as the insertion point for your form.

5. You can install and use SeaGreen on two computers at one time (such as a desktop and laptop). If you want to use it on more than two, you will need a separate license.

6. Using SeaGreen means that any updates to your form and/or database need to be achieved with the use of the SeaGreen application. If you edit the tables or PHP outside of SeaGreen, it may break your form. You can edit the javascript and CSS (etc.) created by SeaGreen, but if you edit and republish your form via SeaGreen, the application will overwrite any custom changes you've made to these files with the new files created and published via SeaGreen.

barney Barnes Looks to be a nice product, but per computer licensing is a deal-breaker. I use several different computers on a regular basis, dependent upon whether I'm on-site, off-site, on the road, ...
If I can't do multiple installs or put it on USB, I cannot utilize it.

(Y'know, Borland used to have a decent license - a "book" license (their "no-nonsense" license), i.e., only one (1) person at a time could use the software, just like reading a book. Too bad no one seems to want to adopt that license scheme any more.)

lemonade soda Seagreen looks very interesting. I run a small website and this could be very useful.

However, you really should put up some WORKING example forms on your website... so we can take a view on the look-feel-functionality. Installing a demo and spending a few hours with it is a very long winded way to get a quick snapshot of working features and look and feel.

Questions:

1. How easy would it be to integrate SeaGreen into a wordpress site? (available to anyone)
2. Do you think it is possible to integrate a SeaGreen form within a vBulletin forum? (available only to people with logins... and the username would be automatically picked up in the seagreen database)
3. Is it possible to have a simple ACL? Example: Use the form for collecting feedback from clients... give each client a "login code" so that they can complete the form once only... e.g. 100 clients, give them a login code like "ABCDE" or "1XDE4". I don't mid creating the ACL by hand... but the feature... form available only after login-code accepted is the question.

Thanks for more info.

Chris I really wanted this software but when I try to install the trial nothing happens. I have tried running it in Vista compatibility mode but it still will not run. I open up the task manager and see it there running but it never will start up beyond that so I use the task manager to kill it.

I read all of the other comments and it seems that the development has stopped on the program. The last time it was updated was in 2010.

Are there any plans to continue development on this and make it work for Windows 7 64 bit?

Thanks.....

ProVenture Media I was made aware of this offer yesterday. I downloaded the trial and initially couldn't get it to install on my laptop Win 7 64-bit (run as administrator) got me a blue screen / stop error three time. Installed to a desktop unit, also Win 7 64 bit, just fine. Today when I got back to it ran the installer by double-clicking the install file (not "run as administrator" - how I usually do it) and it installed and works just like on the desktop system.
