What are people saying about SEO PowerSuite Professional

disenchanted I noticed that the seo powerpack is fully updated with the algorithms only for 6 months. Then they convert to a subscription product [for anyone wanting to continue to use "Current" data in their algorithms].

The programs might still "work" AFTER 6 months but they will with outdated information [without a subscription of some sort].

So, it is obvious that without continuous updates in todays work, they won't be of much use. WITHOUT an ongoing subscription!

A 1 month subscription for the seo powerpack is $19.95
whereas the one year subscription is $124.95
[which works out to about 50% off the $19.95 monthly rate].
The 36 month subscription is $299.95

Questions:

1. Will all the subscription packages also be on sale, with the
63% discount?

2. Example: Would we be able to purchase the:
a. 12 month subscription at 63% off the normal one year price?
[ $124.95 - 63% discount = $46.23]

or

b. the 36 month additional subscription for 63% off the normal $299.95?
[ $299 - 63% = $110.98]

That would be a great deal offer if the whole Seo powerpack WITH 36 months of Live ! plan updates could be had for
$149.95 + 110.98= $260.93 total

I'd definitely jump in on a 36 month subscription for the seo powerpack "suite" if it only costs $260.93

Jonathan Horner Rank Tracker is well worth having. There are occasional glitches but the developers usually get them fixed reasonable quickly. Being able to check a large amount of keyword rankings at any given time is invaluable for me. The Adwords integration doesn't work well on OSX PPC due to a Java problem. Works great on Intel though.

SEOspy is handy to have now and again for quick link research.

Website Auditor is handy for a quick assessment of a website or individual webpages. You do however need an understanding of SEO to start with. If you just follow it's built in reports to SEO your pages then you could do more damage than good. This is due to the way the software works. If the top 10 results for the keyword you are targeting are not particularly well optimised for that keyword the reports will not give good advice. So handy to have but make sure you understand why you are doing what it tells you to do. You can find help and advice on the forums.

I never use Link Assistant so can't comment on this one.

As mentioned above make sure you factor in the subscription costs after the first 6 months to get the true cost of the software. Also be aware that the subscription costs are higher for the pro version.

Link-Assistant.Com Hi everybody,

Thanks for your interest in SEO PowerSuite!

The today's 63% discount is for SEO PowerSuite package:
1) SEO PowerSuite toolkit (or one of its tools)
2) the bonuses you get with it (free features updates, bug-fixes and customer support for life and 6 months of Live! Plan subscription).
Yet the discount does not cover any extras, such as your further Live!Plan subscriptions.

If you're interested in how SEO PowerSuite compares to other SEO tools on the market, please look through these reviews: http://www.link-assistant...tools.html

Link-Assistant.Com Hi Preston,

Sorry, I've missed you question when looking through the comment last time.

Actually, one of WebSite Auditor's features is highlighting specific HTML-code elements in the pages' code, so that you could quickly navigate through the coding of your website. This makes using WebSite Auditor very convenient even for a person without any HTML knowledge.

Preston Mitchell Alexandra -- Thank you for your reply...but a question please.

My only hesitation in buying SEO Powerhouse is my fear that I lack the coding expertise to use your expensive software effectively.

My coding skills are minimal. I am still learning. Also, I have no clue as to what good SEO code should look like.

It sounds great that Auditor highlights specific SEO code elements to change. BUTdoes Auditor suggest new code elements to replace the highlighted code with? And--or--does Link Assistant provide tutorials teaching the coding skills needed to fix the specific code elements highlighted by Auditor?

I have not downloaded and tried Auditor yet...so pardon me if my question is totally ignorant.

Link-Assistant.Com Preston, WebSite Auditor does not generate HTML-code elements, it analyzes your sites coding and finds any flaws it may have.

Further on it highlights the code elements for you to easily find them and make necessary changes. More to that, it shapes all analytical data into clear reports with detailed instructions and recommendations on how and what you should do further on.

And yes, surely, WebSite Auditor comes with a full-blown user manual, that points out all software's features and an SEO manual for beginners (from one of our most leading SEO experts). Plus, if anything still remains unclear to you, our support team is ready to answer any questions and help you with optimizing your site.

disenchanted This software suite has easily become my "most researched" bitsdujour application in several months.

After reviewing tons of material on both the pro's and con's of this pkg online today, I have a few questions.

I was reading about folks having issues during searches and the need to deal with related captcha's. This was from some forum postings about mid year 2011.
That is when I discovered that a separate "Anti-CAPTCHA key" was available for purchase, from link-assistant.com.

1. what are the search limits before engines like google start requiring captcha's to be completed, even when utilizing tools like seo powersuite?

2. how often, on average, are captchas encountered when using the seo powersuite?

3. are there operational workarounds available now, in early 2012, for most encountered captchas?

Thanks for your time.

Link-Assistant.Com Thanks for the interest in SEO PowerSuite!

Louis, your free 6 months Live! Plan starts for you the moment you purchase your software. More to read about Live! Plans here http://www.link-assistant...-plan.html
There is no limit to how many websites you can optimize with SEO PowerSuite.

Got Caught, you're right, earlier the software wouldn't gather data from any SEs if Live! Plan was expired. However we’ve worked on it and made a change to let you do the work even with the expired Live! Plan. Right now, with an expired Live! Plan, SEO PowerSuite works normally gathering data from all SEs for which the algos haven't changed yet. So if Google is still up to date you'll be able to run checks, even if Live! Plan is expired.

Winton guy, SEO PowerSuite is equally useful for both individuals and SEO companies, because it’s professional yet totally simple to use. Professionals normally use the expert mode, while beginners go with basic settings. You don’t have to hold a degree in IT or even possess any HTML knowledge to use it. Doing SEO manually, on the contrary, requires some expertise in IT and oodles of time. Besides, doing SEO with bare hands is unfortunately never as effective as using SEO software.

Disenchanted,
1. Search engines ask for captchas if they notice that queries from a certain IP address are highly frequent. It’s impossible to predict if SEs are going to ask you for captchas at all or how often they gonna do so. Most of other SEO software, which do not even show you a captcha request but rather just stop collecting data when the search gets temporary banned. SEO PowerSuite includes features, such as Human Emulation, Proxy Rotation and search engines’ API keys, which minimize the chance of getting a captcha request as they make the software appear to search engines pretty much as a human.
2. This software is well equipped to appear to search engines as a human (as we’ve described above). So in most cases your CAPTCHAs won't appear too often thanks to other Search Safety features.
3. At the moment we are working on a new technology, which will let you avoid captcha’s requests in 99% of cases. Our developers report that this technology is due out already in the end of January or beginning of February the latest. This will be a totally unique feature, so if you are worried about captchas SEO PowerSuite would be the best option for you.

Have a great day!

Brian H I'm confused. Policy tab states "Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product.", so why does "disenchanted" (in post above) say he/she needs to "renew {their} updates"? Is this the first time Link-Assistant.Com is offering deal that includes free lifetime updates? And almost as important, I would be interested in hearing how "disenchanted" or anyone else who has been using any version of the product for a good length of time has been satisfied or dissatisfied with it. Ian Rance @Brian, Yes I got caught with that - I thought the software was 'for life' but the search algos updates are not but you will not find it prominently before you have paid. A mean marketing trick which is why I have not updated mine and so use the program less frequently. If I had known earlier I would have used an alternative! Otherwise the software is ok I guess.

It cost them me upgrading tot he Enterprise edition in teh end anyway.

1. If we purchased this in the past and our 6 month "updates" subscription has expired, do we have to renew all 4 products?

Thanks in advance.

Darren Farmer I don't work for Link-Assistant (perhaps I should be on commision? ;-) ), but I asked this via a Live Chat yesterday.

The way I understand it is:

1) All the apps have free "Feature" updates for life.

2) The Search Engine Algorithms relate to all products and this is where you pay your money. Paid for in 1, 6, 12, 24, 36 monthly increments. So basically if you let these lapse then the apps are (by definition) out of date and I presume won't work efficiently? You do get good discounts for the longer period subscriptions.

Subscriptions are explained here:
http://www.link-assistant...go-updates

Link-Assistant.Com You can extend algo updates subscriptions only for the products you're planning to use. If other 2 products won't be used for some time, you will still be able to renew maintenance when you decide to come back to them.

Ken Taylor For what it's worth. I've gone to their website watched the VDOs and read the features, These tools involve a lot more than the "Google alog" (@Thomas Reimann-please do more research).

When you buy the software you own it for life. After 6-months there are different "monthly price options". Of course the longer you go for the more discount you get.

If at anytime you don't want alog updates, don't renew. But you can at a later date renew again because you already have the software. No you won't get 6-months free again, that only happens when you buy for the first time. :)

To help folks like you and me to see what these "monthly price options" look like please go to this link. It took me forever and a day to find this. :(

This is simply not true. The day your subscription runs out some very basic functions like keyword position search stop working right away even if google has not changed the search algorithm in more than 1 year. The software becomes useless. This is hardcoded and has nothing to do with algo updates.

Link-Assistant.Com Hi everybody,

Thanks for your interest in SEO PowerSuite software - hope, I'll be able to answer all of your questions.

@disenchanted, we've recently ran another comparison - major SEO features set side by side. You can find here on our website - http://www.seopowersuite....eview.html

Link-Assistant.Com @Thomas, Walfgang, Alexander, Pavi

Thanks for your questions and really sorry for the long reply! There's totally nothing shady about the software pricing.

The license you buy now - is a lifetime license that stays with you for long, just as Ken has noticed!

That is also true that besides the license itself, SEO PowerSuite tools need a monthly update plan that involves our daily monitoring of how search engines change their algorithms and adjusting the tools when any changes take place.

These algo changes are not something you see with your own eyes - that is, probably, why Thomas and some other users misunderstand what's truly involved into SEO PowerSuite search algo updates.

The changes are about the way Google and other search engines present their data and thus, how our crawlers should behave to collect and parse this data in the right way. As soon as something changes in the way Google presents the data, our crawlers would simply fail to bring you that data. And that is why the software simply can not function correctly without the timely updates.

Still, we do understand that with buying a lifetime license you wouldn't like to pay big monthly fees and tried to make them as low as possible - totally free for the 6 months and only $8.33 a month for the entire toolkit after that period.

Just compare the fees to any other SEO solutions that provide monthly charges - SEO PowerSuite offers you many more features and for a much lower price!

Hope this makes the situation clearer! Please feel free to ask any other questions you have!

Stanislav Cermak Hi.

Another comparision is here: http://seo-software-revie...views.com/.
According this Seo PowerSuite has got only Average Rank (Performance Reporting and Submission Tools seem to be poor).

Is there no Submission Tool in Seo PowerSuite?

I´d like to see any comparision of subsription of these tools.

Thanks

Link-Assistant.Com Hi Stanislav,

It all depends on the points you compare) SEO PowerSuite has a very powerful reporting module. Each of its tools have their own reports - on rankings, traffic, backlinks, onpage SEO - that you can generate both in HTML or PDF formats. More to that, you can easily brand the reports or customize the data presented in them. The reports are also easily saved on your computer for print out, sent via email or uploaded onto your website via FTP. So you barely call this functionality poor;) And more to that, the review is not very true, as SEO PowerSuite does report on traffic stats, pages indexation and so on.

We do not have article submission tools in the toolkit - and they don't seem to be the right way of link building now, aren't they?;)

Thomas Reimann And again - Rank Tracker stopped working here twice on the day my subscription ended. Google did not change anything on these days. It's 100% hard coded. End of subscription means the program stops working on that day, and becomes useless.

Pavi Johnson Can we get the vendor response to Thomas' license no longer functioning after the "subscription period? This is extremely alarming, to say the least.
Sep 9 2013 at 4:48am Copy Link

Thomas Reimann More clarification: I've bought about 2 years ago. When subscription ran out the program stopped working on that day. I could not update my rankings. At a later time I've extended the subscription for 6 more months. The subscription ran out about 2 weeks ago, and Rank Tracker stopped working again on that day. The program is auto-updating very frequently. 99% of the changes are something like "updated Google Uganda" or "updated Bing Zimbabwe" and when the program auto-updates without you having a subscription (you cannot prevent the auto-update) it stops working with the claim of an algorithm change even with the search engines that have not changed in months or years (like Google USA or Google UK). This means that if they update Google Algeria for some reason you cannot use ANY search engines without a costly subscription. When I was purchasing here I thought I was buying a lifetime license and after the subscription ran out I felt just cheated.

Link-Assistant.Com Thomas, we're really sorry for making you feel that way. But there is one main point I've already mentioned that explain the situation:

- The algo updates are not something you see with your own eyes. It's not the shift in rankings or changes in the search engine's interface. It's about the way the data is arranged and, thus, the way our crawler should read and interpret that data.

That is why the software simply cannot continue to bring you the data when something is changed in the search algos. And that is why you cannot prevent the software from updating when the algos change - we do update it and either give you the new updated version (if you've provided the small fee we charge for keeping it up to date) or notify you that you can no longer collect the data (in case you've decided you no longer want to keep the tool updated).

It is just that way - the algorithm changes and we don't give you an update if you haven't ordered your search algo updates plan. And, surely, we prevent the tool from checking the data in the "broken" search engines, because it is simply impossible.

The notification you've just mention comes when you're writing a request to our support folks. If you've just written something to them - then the notification lets you know we'll answer your ticket asap. If you haven't - then that is totally impossible, because there's no way we could get your email address and your statement seems more like a slander. We're sorry you're making this wrongful accusation.

Paul Petruci I bought SEO Power Suite Enterprise 1.5 years ago for my company.

The license is a lifetime license only with the name in reality is a subscription based license.

After the subscription expired the license is still active but the software is crippled, you can only download/save your old project as there are.

The reason is that "the algorithm changes" immediately after your subscription expired, which is a big lie.

The software is developed with java, and if you scan big sites (more then 100. 000 pages) after 3-5 hours, the software is just freezing and crash, and you loose 3-5 hours for nothing.

In 1 year many issues, even seo related and reported by many on there forum, where not solved but instead I've got "nicer reports".

Now they removed the forum, probably because of people complaints.

Link-Assistant.Com Hi Paul, I've just explained what search algo updates include and why they are needed for the tools to work and collect data - and we're very sorry you aren't ready to hear that.

Over the past few years the software's performance has also improved a great deal - so it woks well for very large websites too.

And the strangest thing is your mentioning of our forums - they are still here (and heve never been removed) with anyone able to speak out loud about anything they want - http://seo-forum.link-assistant.com/. So it seems quite strange you're saying such things.

Anna I agree with Thomas. The software stops working after 12 months.

As for the answer from the company, they say:

"...There's totally nothing shady about the software pricing.

That is also true that besides the license itself, SEO PowerSuite tools need a monthly update plan that involves our daily monitoring of how search engines change their algorithms and adjusting the tools when any changes take place."

NOBODY knows how Google's algorithm works and what are the exact ranking factors. So, to say that we charge a monthly fee because we change our software depending on the Search Engines algo updates, is a lie.
And BTW, Google, Yahoo and Bing DO NOT change their algo every month.

Link-Assistant.Com Hi Clyde,

I've just explained that the updates we have to adjust our tools to are not something like Penguin or Panda (not the changes in the way Google ranks your sites). It's about the way search engines arrange their data and thus, the way our crawlers should collect it.

Hope now you do now the difference and see why these updates are necessary.

Jon Spain If support is for 6 months, what happens after that, please? for a product with free lifetime upgrades to future versions for the lifetime of the product, something doesn't seem quite right.

Jul 8 2014 at 12:39am Copy Link

Link-Assistant.Com @Jon Spain - Hi Jon, the license covers 6 months of search algo updates. When the period expires, search algo updates are provided on a paid basis, starting at $3.05/mo for separate products (Rank Tracker, SEO SpyGlass, WebSite Auditor and LinkAssistant) and 8.33/mo for SEO PowerSuite Pro.

Search algo updates ensure that the software can get actual data from search engines at all times. That is, the software will still work without search algo updates, but the data that comes from search engines may be incorrect or unavailable.

Indeed, we do provide free upgrades for future versions, yet we charge quite a moderate fee for search algo updates. Tracking changes in search engines requires quite a few man-hours that's why we charge this additional fee.

Link-Assistant.Com @Jon Spain: Sorry it's confusing, but that's what we differentiate in our pricing model. We offer feature updates for free, yet we charge for search algo updates.

@Thomas Reimann: Not quite so. If we may stress again, only search engine-related data may become unavailable with expired search algo updates. That is, if Google changes its algorithm today, a user will not get data from Google - but this doesn't mean the software will stop working altogether.
Link-Assistant.Com - Jul 8 2014 at 2:33am Copy Link
0
Jon Spain Well, it may make sense to you but I find that utterly confusing and, frankly, far from acceptable. It is taken as axiomatic that Google will update their algorithms every so often so that, in order to be effective, the software will only remain effective if payments are made every 6 months. While a periodic licensing pricing mechanism is not in itself objectionable, introducing confusion is an unfair marketing technique. Please withdraw the claim to fee lifetime upgrades because it really is meaningless.

Jon
Jul 8 2014 at 2:40am Copy Link

Thomas Reimann @Link-Assistant This is definitely not the truth. Google changes the algorithm maybe once a year. During my subscription the software was updated almost daily, and if you miss one version because of missing subscription it stops working completely, even if google has not touched a thing in months. I've bought a "lifetime license" several years ago and felt cheatet when is stopped working after 6 months. I've extended it by paying for 6 more months and the next day after the 6 months passed I could not use a single function because it refused to start.
Jul 8 2014 at 2:40am Copy Link
0
Link-Assistant.Com @Jon Spain: Thank you for feedback, we'll consider changing the wording - meanwhile, we hope now the issue has been explained, hasn't it?

@Thomas Reimann: The algorithms we're talking about in the context of SEO software are not the same as popular Panda or Penguin updates - these are the ones you must be having in mind. The updates we mean are performed by search engines every other day - and we have to monitor these changes pretty much around the clock to make sure the software interacts correctly with the supported 300+ search engines.

Regarding SEO PowerSuite capabilities after search algo updates expire. We've recently reconsidered the functionality pattern, and pretty much all functions stay in place. As I've written before, certain search engine data becomes unavailable over time, but it's definitely not a matter of one second.

One way or another, search algo updates are crucial to make the software function properly.
Link-Assistant.Com - Jul 8 2014 at 3:21am Copy Link

Thomas Reimann What matters is Google. This is where 99% of the SEO business is. Parsing of Google results to determinate a position of keywords needs to be re-coded maybe every 2 years, when the layout of the search result changes. Yet the day my subscription of my "lifetime updates" product has expired I could not look up the position of my keywords on Google. After I've re-subscribed, and the next 6 month expired the exact same thing happened, I could not look up keyword SEO positions. The software became completely useless to me, and that without Google changing a byte in their html code. I would be completely happy with the version I had when my subscription expired, but you have blocked the access to it. This is a fact.

disenchanted Since these programs are a lot like other "subscription based software" programs, [EXAMPLE: anti-virus programs], I think it would be less confusing if the SEO Power-suite just switched completely to a "subscription model".

In my example of "Anti-virus", most people would not keep using any anti-virus program (even if it DID work) after their anti-virus "updates" EXPIRED.
It wouldn't make sense to use a program that relies on current updates, if you are not currently subscribed to those updates.

The SEO biz is as dependent upon its updates to google & SEO algo's, just as an anti-virus program is dependent upon its anti-virus updates.

I would suggest ditching the "lifetime updates" to the main programs, and switch entirely to a subscription model for everything.
It would be a lot less confusing.

Just my 2 cents.

Thomas Reimann I have used only a small part of the suite to keep track of keyword positions. The version that I've initially purchased I was quite happy with. At some time the GUI was changed to a better looking one, but where you had to do more clicks, so that was a downgrade. But I would have kept using it, if not for the shock that a "free lifetime updates" software stopped working. I felt cheated, but was in the middle of an important project on that day, so had to pay for another 6 months. But after that I've refused to pay. It felt like mob racketeering. I made it my cause that nobody else falls for the same trick as I did. The software is expensive, and if you promise lifetime updates, you should stick to it, no questions asked. edit: a big malus of the version I've used back then, that it had barely any shortcuts, so you could not really operate mostly with a keyboard. You had to do thousands of clicks. Maybe it has changed by now.

Link-Assistant.Com Thank you for your feedback, Thomas, we do appreciate it. Quite interesting the UI upgrade turned out not that handy for you. One of our points with this elaborate pricing model is that it echoes the development support involved: believe it or not, our team is heavily engaged in tracking relevant changes and tweaking the tools accordingly. Also, it redistributes the fee burden: eventually, the software turns out cheaper than $100/mo our competitors charge on average for similar functionality.

Thomas Reimann I have no problem with a subscription based model. But usually a subscription model has a very low entry point. You have a very costly entry point + a subscription model. But the worst was really that I had the feeling I'm buying here a lifetime product, and made the purchase because of that. You should write in big letters on top that it is a subscription model, and if you stop paying the product will stop to work alltogether. You don't have the option to use the version you have installed, as long as it keeps working (until Google messes things up).

Software Seeker Sorry folks, but this kind of software is not just hugely overpriced, it is simply useless. It keeps surprising me how many companies/individuals (mainly bloggers with their own - mostly ugly-looking website) seem to be able to make money on the topic of SEO. The references on this company's website are just silly. Just try and search for "paper & pen role-playing games". You will not find the company this software supposedly worked wonders for.

Link-Assistant.Com @Coup Onz: The price includes 6 months of search algo updates. When the period expires, the updates are provided on a paid basis. Paid search algo updates are crucial to make the software function properly and have all the data available.

@Software Seeker: If you believe that the entire SEO industry is overrated and that any SEO software in the market is useless - you're entitled to your own opinion. However, with thousands companies offering SEO services (sometimes as part of web developement and general online promotion packages), it's obvious that such an extensive marketing cannot be built on nothing.

Besides, many of the above mentioned thousands of companies resort to various types of SEO tools (rank trackers, backlink checkers, onpage SEO software, etc.) that really make their job easier. Of course, there is no magical solution that will do all the SEO work for you, and any advertising is a bit of a hyperbole.
