What category would you place 'Task List Management' into? Productive? Sure. Enjoyable? Hardly! And yet, here's today's discount software application, ShoutDone, making a serious bid to change your mind about how wonderful task management can truly be!

You've probably tried a pile of task management software applications, and ended up abandoning each one when using it became tedious. ShoutDone shatters the tedium of task management by replacing boring list-based approaches with an innovative and effective visual interface that gives you an intuitive overview of everything that needs to get done.

Use Spotlight View to focus on immediate priorities. Instantly reference contextually relevant tasks. And apply filters to quicklly switch the focus of your to-do list to whatever is hottest at the moment.

Best of all, ShoutDone data is portable, synchronizing online with multiple platforms to enable 24/7 access from anywhere!

Adding new projects and tasks into ShoutDone is incredibly easy - in fact, you can add multiple project tasks in bulk. You can even submit tasks to ShoutDone via Evernote, or by email!

JesusInsideMe I'm V1.1.5 Pro registered user, this is a nice concept (I feel good knowing what version is this one), I think this is specially designed for projects where aimed tasks are necessary to jot it down, I don't recommended it to persons with a VERY LONG task list (like me), because its UI is not so friendly to enter each task you have on mind, furthermore search a task among a long column of tasks is not possible, you have to drag all the column up or down looking for what you need to get! (trust me, it's nothing easy), in a nutshell, if you have an extensive task list (as I do), after few hours of use, you will not feel comfortable working with it!, God bless you, bye.

Brenda Gann Seems what "Jesus" says is true.. by going through the video and screenshot. The video spends too much of its time showing you pictures of people etc instead of focusing on what the app can do.

Rich Butterworth Hi again Jesus. Nice to see you back here posting comments like last time around ;-)

@Brenda, there are a set of tutorial videos at http://www.shoutdone.com/tutorials and a quick start guide at http://www.shoutdone.com/QuickStart

Hopefully these will help.

There's also an extensive manual at http://www.shoutdone.com/help

Greg Brown Actually I think that first link above is wrong - that takes you to a demo for a program called "ShoutDesigner", which looks like a button creator for web pages.

I believe the correct video links for the To-Do list program are:

http://www.youtube.com/wa...ature=plcp

You're welcome :-)

M M Bad luck, I have no time today to review. Maybe the deal will be extended for another day...
I have been looking for something that would be like my very old Palm 3 PIM, with a desktop application and ability to sync to a mobile device (a smartphone nowadays), with calendar, to do, and notes, and preferably not cloud-based (for security and holidays reasons).
Still looking, so good suggestions welcome!

Tomas Barth I try to understand how it works with Evernote. I have 250 posts in 40 notebooks and sub-notebooks (paid version). Will they automatically be imported to ShoutDone? And will all tags be kept?Ás Evernote is not a ToDo-application, I need a system to take care of this lacking part in Evernote, and I try to understand if ShoutDone might be the solution. Also, do they sync in both directions automatically?

Frank Stephens This is great software. To really appreciate it, you *must* check out the video tutorials, plus the quickstart. That's circa 50 minutes or so altogether. Most of the negative comments and some of the questions are without merit, they're from people who didn't check out the video tutorials.

The link http://www.shoutdone.com/tutorials is correct, simply scroll down to ShoutDone Video Tutorials and click "Play All". The QuickStart link is incorrect, check out the links on
http://www.todolistsoftwa...pport.html

ShoutDone is written using Adobe AIR, which should make porting to smartphones and tablets easy.

To the developer, a number of items need fixing:
The default hotkeys are a disaster under Windows, and the alternatives are extremely limited. Even though it's more complex, I would prefer a general selection approach, while checking for in-use hotkeys. Check out NTWind software.
Major oversight, the keyboard focus doesn't get set when opening dialog boxes. In fact, it appears to stay on the previous dialog, I noticed that tabbing occurs in the previous rather than current dialog.
It's essential that recurring tasks are able to be entered. This can be done by a "Recurring..." button under advanced scheduling. Most application do a poor job of this, all sorts of options are required, such as 1st, 2nd, ..., Last (day or days of week) in month, etc. Additionally, options should be available for handling numeric days of month which fall on a weekend or holiday, etc.

Tomas Barth Is there anyone present to reply to my question above before the offer ends?

Frank Stephens Tomas Barth, your question is for the developer. Based on the online Help, which you should read, it might be possible by renaming notebooks in Evernote. It should certainly be possible by creating new notebooks and copying the appropriate data to them. Under Support, Online Manual / Online Help, see 9.3.1 - Adding Projects in Evernote, and 9.3.3 - Adding Tasks in Evernote.

To the developer:
As mentioned earlier, hover for task Description would be handy, as would double-click to Edit.

DroidLuvr Looks like no responses from developer for a while here, and that's one reason to worry about this one. I have quite a few more reasons (listed below) that make me think I'll pass this one for now. I'm truly sorry about that, but for what it's worth (from a 20+ year I.T. tech) -- here is my opinion, and I'd love to hear back from the developer, although it's probably going to be too late to make a final decision in my time zone ;(

I think this is an absolute gem of an idea, and one that I would love to "beta test," but it is too far from a finished product to shell out money for it yet :(

Here are some of my reasons:
1. No response from developer for more than 24 hours...
2. Software is still, quite obviously, in a non-finished state, so the license of "until the next major version" scares me off; as I said earlier, I would definitely consider this product to be still in the "beta" stage, and I don't want to pay for a product that will require a major version change soon!
3. All of the quick responses from developer, all the help on their site, and all the YouTube tutorial videos are 5 months old, with no more "recent" updates - it seems like "Shout Internet" has too many irons in the fire with all their other products to complete this one...
4. The most obvious error I found was immediately obvious on the main page: the tool tips for the "manage tasks today" --or whatever it is called" shows "Application Settings" -- the icon for the application settings also shows a tool tip of "Application Settings..."
5. There are NO controls for the placement of the main window to the program that I could find, and it wasn't anywhere near centered on my screen, and some controls were hidden behind the task bar unless I went completely "full screen..."
6. There are VERY FEW customizations possible here; the simplest thing like the four colors are even set in stone;
7. I would just not trust the program at this point for the most critical of my work: my "to do" list.

I will be watching this program closely now, as it looks like it has FANTASTIC potential, but it also looks like it has been at least somewhat "abandoned" for other projects :(

Frank Stephens DroidLuvr, while I agree that some things need fixing, I haven't encountered any major errors in the short time that I've been testing it. Yes, the tooltip for the Inbox is incorrect, but that's a primary feature which you learn right away from the tutorials, so that's not a big deal. This isn't Android, it's intentionally designed to have few options. Do you have multiple monitors? If so, improper window placement is a common problem which the developer may need to fix. Your comfort level with slightly buggy software is up to you. I decided to purchase for the online features and to support the developer, he has to make some sales to make support worthwhile.

Sandra Phillips I just tried to buy ShoutDone with nearly 3 hours to go on the deal and received the following message: Important Message
coupon code BDJ40 is invalid. What happened?

Frank Stephens Sandra Phillips, according to their contact information, it's well into Saturday morning in the UK. They probably didn't properly correct for the time zone difference. If you're interested, I would email them on Monday. This was an extended offer, they probably didn't want to be in Friday evening / Saturday morning.

DroidLuvr @Frank: Thanks for your input, Frank! I do have multiple monitors, so after disabling one and rebooting, I found that I could manipulate the ShoutDone window much better... That makes a difference!!

And... I can handle buggy software if I know it is buggy software (i.e. beta) or even something like an "initial release" notification from the developer. I guess what I don't like is the fact it is being marketed as a "retail version" which to me means the bugs have been pretty darn well ironed out! The "general public" shouldn't have to deal with buggy software if they think they are getting a full release version, that's all.

As an IT geek, I'm still playing with it; I still like the concept very much, and, like you, would be willing to support the developer by buying it; however, I haven't seen that the dev is very responsive at all here...

Frank Stephens To the developer: The tray icon opens the main ShoutDone window when you click on it, but it should also bring it to the front if it's already open.

DroidLuvr @ Frank: After playing with it some more, I will stand by my original opinion that this program is just not ready for prime-time. I haven't even made notes of all the problems I have had, but they are quite extensive. The biggest irritant is the hot keys that are triggered by other keys: i.e. Ctrl+"Letter" is supposed to do certain things like open, new, etc. However, on my laptop, those keys are also triggered by Shift+ even though I double checked all the settings. I ended up having to uninstall because every time I tried to do anything in Windows Explorer, such as rename a file, if I tried to type a capital letter (i.e. Shift+ N or O - new or open, etc...) it would stop my rename and switch to ShoutDone. Talk about driving me crazy!!!

Then, there is the complete and total lack of developer response here. Of all places, they should have responded here at the sale. It makes me think I would NEVER get any technical support from them... You alone have made several very good suggestions that I would think they would appreciate, but not so much as a TY from them.

Glad I passed on this one...

Sue James I was impressed with my first trial of this software - thought it was exactly the kind of visual to do list that would suit me perfectly. After trialling it for a few days, I purchased the PRO version, with the additional features of syncing with Evernote so I could monitor and update tasks via my Smartphone etc.

HOWEVER after a few weeks of very satisfied use, after another AIR update, the PRO registration disappeared from my computer. I submitted a support ticket, but three weeks later there still has been NO response - either to the support ticket that's sitting 'unassigned' in their system, or to the follow up emails.

Customer support? Appears non-existent! Last resort, which I've yet to try, is a long distance phone call from Australia to the UK. At least there's a phone number on their website.

If that produces results, I'll post here again. But I wanted to add this comment as I am very unimpressed with the total lack of response to my calls for help.
