Most days, you just want to be able to browse the Internet without interruption (from coworkers, family members, or the dog). And yet, even if you barricade yourself in a room with just you and your computer, there's still an unwanted distraction there to haunt you -- ads! They're flashy. They're noisy. They float across your field of vision hoping that you'll be interested in what they have to offer. But with Simple Adblock, you can say bye-bye to them forever!

Simple Adblock is the quickest and easiest way to block ads from appearing in your Internet Explorer browser sessions! With Simple Adblock, there's no need to configure filters and blacklists and whatnot -- all you need to do is select your country. That's it. No more ads! In fact, ads are blocked even before they have a chance to download to your computer! And that means less strain on your bandwidth, CPU, and memory.

With reliance on community-based Adblocking filters, you'll always be up to date when using Simple Adblock. And if you do want to fine-tune your ad-viewing preferences, Simple Adblock lets you get under the hood to configure blacklists, whitelists, and regular expression filters.

Please note, this version of Simple Adblock is licensed for family use. This means that it can be installed on up to three computers.

Brian H I just purchased a few "Ad Muncher" licesnes on BDJ last week. Does anyone know if this product is competing or can be used in addition to Ad Muncher, or how they might compare? $14.97 for a "family license" seems to be an incredibly good deal! Thanks.

Troels Hi Brian,

Ad muncher is a proxy solution, which monitors the network-traffic to your computer, and can block ads before they reach your browser. The advantage by using a solution like Ad muncher is that it works across all browsers.

Simple Adblock is a browser extension for Internet Explorer. Like Ad muncher it monitors the network-traffic, but it also monitors the webpages, while they are being loaded by the browser. By doing that, the adfiltering is more effective and also it is possible to implement element hiding. With element hiding the adspace may be collapsed, so there is not a white space in the webpage, where the ads where. Also element hiding can hide ads, that are not possible to block.

When using a browser extension, you have the close interaction to the webpage you visit. If you prefer to disable adblocking on a webpage, because you find that you like to see the ads on this website, then you have direct access to the Simple Adblock menu, where you can disable adblocking on the webpage.

I would recommend not use the both Ad muncher and Simple Adblock at the same time. Either you should use a generic solution like Ad muncher, or preferable use an Adblock extension for the browsers you use.

Best regards

Troels

Genie au Travail I will try this solution and purchase a licence.
I didn't purchase Ad Muncher because it use hardware footprint for activation and I hate this type of protection (like DRM for music files).

Troels Hi Peter,

Adblocking works by specifying a list of rules for filtering advertisement on webpages. The filterlists are large and are being updated constantly, so that ads and not information are being removed. For more information please read this:

John H Why would any browser implement built in Ad blocking and tracking. They make revenue by delivering ads.

While Fire Fox may be free there is a for profit corporation hiding behind the non profit part.

Appreciate the Family License. Computers are a cheap commodity these days..
