Steven Avery Hi Folks,

A nice Bits Du Jour today. On the easy-setup web dev, SiteSpinner seems to have a good, solid rep, maybe along with Serif, and possibly Namo (which is a bit more high-end). Few other solid competitors. I really like the fact of active forums on SiteSpinner on the Virtual Mechanics website.. an excellent sign.

Also good is the Jumpline affiliation. Checking with them that seems real and solid, a good hosting company, if you need that and are not already covered.

Well-done Bits. Every week or so you come up with an especially nice offer.

Shalom,
Steven

Frances Mattson i am hearing a lot about magnifiers whichI definitely need. I used to have Web TV and now have MSN 2. I used the magnifiers on Web until they were removed and have never had it on MSN 2.

I have macular degeneration so have very low vision and it would make life much better to have a good magnifier. What I see is all for PC. Is there anything for MSN 2????

Is the deal price ($25.50) for your SiteSpinner software for a permanent or a temporary license and does it include the one year web hosting?

fran harter Hi,

I went to the Virtual mechanic website to check out the "tour".

Also to check out the program more indepth.

I noticed that there is a "Pro" version that looks like it might better fit my needs.

Questions:

1. Will the bitsdujour sale be only for the "regular" sitespinner
[Standard version]?

2. Or will the "Pro" version be discounted in the upcoming sale also?

Thanks in advance.

Tommy Telos I just wanted to say that I too would be interested in buying/purchasing the more f"eatrure filled" PRO version
of as the Site spinner program;

That is, if the "pro" series licenses are offered at the same 50% off discicount (like the standard version Site spinner will have later today.

Thanks

Roger Thomasson Hi Folks, as Mike G mentions, we actually offered SiteSpinner Pro earlier this month (July 2nd). This promotion is for the non-professional version. I might recommend signing up for our mailing list if you don't want to miss future deals :-)

Mike G I just discovered a link on the VIrtual Mechanics website to get SiteSpinner Pro for only $59 instead of $99 (40% off). The only place I see that price is at the bottom of the SiteSpinner Pro FAQ page. When I clicked "Buy Now" elsewhere on the site, the regular price was showing!

I'm thinking about getting the non-Pro version to try it for a while then upgrading to Pro later. Currently the site is offering a 50% discount on upgrading from regular to Pro. I also notice Virtual Mechanics is generous about giving their existing customers an upgrade to a new major version (v2) free of charge. Very active user community in the forums as well. So far I'm impressed by this company.

Harry Stalley A co-worker recommended this site to me.[bitsdujour]
(Looking back at previous offers, I wish I would have known about this site a long time ago)

I told him to alert me when a website creation application became available.

I reviewed today's standard edition and compared it to the "pro" version.

I think the standard version will work for me.

There were only like 3 features the Pro had that the standard does not.

I am curious though.

If myself, or my wife, later (we share one desktop PC) decides we want to upgrade to the "pro" version of sitespinner, is there a standard upgrade price?

Or would we have to buy a completely new, license for $99?

Sorry if it seems like a noobie question.

Peter White Hi Guy,

Both SiteSpinner and SiteSpinner Pro enable you to Preview your pages in whatever web browser you have installed. The difference is that with SiteSpinner Pro you can preview within the work-window as the product has the Opera browser as part of the product.

bvssunnydale Hi, a few quick questions (1) how often is this software updated, the last set of comments was from 2007, (2) is there an way to upgrade this to the pro version, and if so, at what cost, and (3) has the issue of updating file links (When importing pictures or files from file into your website it only imports the link to the file, not the file itself.) been addressed or are there any plans to address it. Thanks.

Peter White Hello Wm Shore,

Thanks for the questions. I'll answer each in order: 1) Not sure which set of comments you are referring to. The software is continually updated. The last update was posted a couple of months ago. 2) Registered users of SiteSpinner can upgrade to SiteSpinner Pro at 50% off the regular price. 3) I am not really clear as to what problem you are referring to. I am not aware of problem with importing files. In any event, I would suggest you post this to our Community Forums as one of the resident Gurus might know what issue you are referring to, and the status of it. Anyone can post to the Community Forums here: http://forums.virtualmechanics.com

Joel Koltner Is there a difference between what this deal gets you and what Amazon will sell you for $30+$5 s/h? I only ask in that this deal is of course good only for today, whereas Amazon's product listing there will be around for awhile, I expect.

One other question: There isn't functionality that can take a directory full of images and turn it into a "gallery"-style web page, is there?
Sep 6 2011 at 9:14am Copy Link
0
Peter White Hello Joel,

It is the same software as that being sold on Amazon, but it is offered at a greater discount here. Also, the discount on Amazon is not a permanent discount by any means.

There is no function to automatically batch convert images to a gallery. However, there are a number of tutorials on how to create galleries of different kinds.

Hope this helps.

No, this discount only applies to SiteSpinner standard. However, registered users of SiteSpinner are eligible to upgrade to the Pro version at 50% off.

Stefan Hauber Can you be more specific about this one year of free website hosting?

How many GB DiskSpace is included, is access via FTP possible (any file-size-limit?), does the access automatically runs out after this one year (or do I have to discard).

Checking iHostVM.com for the normal prices, they start from 9,99$/month (i.e. ~120$/year). It's hard for me to believe this is included with this 15$-offer...

VLM Yes, it is obvious that no one needs to use the included hosting. That was not my question. My question was: Can one buy the software without PAYING for the "free" hosting. Obviously, it's not FREE, the cost is simply a marketing expense, for which I don't wish to pay.

Ian Gillies So lets review..

Buy the lesser version (and not interesting version to most) for $15

Then qualify to buy the worthy version at 50% off.. or $48

So $48 + $15 =$63 .. when its reg $90

Sorry my friend.. had me interested.. but that sort of discount isn't worthy of a bitsdujour listing!

Most of us who code grab lesser products simply for easy and resource less intensive to use tools or even for a template or two we like.. but we don't pay more than we should for it.

I noticed on a quick try out that only the initial page of your templates were created.. fine for those of us using Zend framework or tempalting for a CMS like Worldpress.. but isn't it a bit of a misleader for those looking for a full site (which it should create)?

I fail to see the value here..

All the best,

Ian

Ian Gillies Roger..

July 2 was yesterday.. Bits never had your pro version for sale.

Clearly people have an interest in the Pro version.. and I don't blame them.. Web site IDEs are a dime a dozen.. There has been some good ones offered on Bits at reasonable pricing.

I think you may be missing the boat here.. Perhaps offer the same discount for the Pro version.

Offering 50% off to existing lite owners is not 50% off the Pro version as you need to factor in their now redundant lite costs.

Bits buyers are software testers for the most part.. we buy dozens of titles.. we continue to buy the ones we find value in.. SW developers use this site to get their wares out there.. not to cash in. Bits is second to none at putting software in BUYERS hands.

Ian

Just some helpful advice.
