What are people saying about Smart Diary Suite 4 Medical

Peter pereh Good to see this one here again.
I am using this special version for half a year now, and it really gives you eveything you need to keep track of yourself, with a diary, scheduler, reminders, expandable health informations, mood etc.
Plus, the developer is very open for suggestions and quick with response if you need help. Updates with new functions and fixes are published frequently.
Highly recommended.

Dennis Volodomanov Thank you Peter,

I'm glad that you like using SDS4 and I appreciate your feedback. Most of the features that are already implemented or are planned come from user feedback and that has always been my number one priority.

Best regards,

Dennis

Julie Julie Would it be possible to purchase two licenses -- one to keep and one to give to a friend (using a separate computer)? How would the name on the registrations work?

Many thanks.
Apr 21 2010 at 6:10am Copy Link
0
Dennis Volodomanov Yes, you would need to purchase it twice through BDJ and then contact me via e-mail or through our support page and I'll change one of the licenses to another name for you.

Dennis Volodomanov Alternatively, it should be possible to enter quantity as "2" in the shopping cart when you check out, so you'll only make one purchase for the two copies.

Lawrence Kritzinger I am rather disappointed. When the Home version was offered om BDJ a few weeks ago, the developer stated that the medical version would not be offered for a discount soon. Because of this statement I went ahead and purchased the Home version even though I really wanted this Medical version. I wish that I had known because I would much have preferred this version. I can recommend this software wholeheartedly though. It is a great way to holistically take control of your life.

Dennis Volodomanov Thank you Lawrence. The Medical edition is offered now because there was a fortunate chance to do so, but it was not planned to be offered so soon initially. There is a way to upgrade from the Home edition and if you send me an e-mail, I'll help you out.

Dmitry S Dennis, thank very much for your program and the quick answer.

Will you plan to add cyrillic languages like Bulgarian and Russian in the version 2012 too?
Thanks in advance.

Dennis Volodomanov Yes, the plan is to make a version that our users can help translate, thus any languages will be possible.

Of course you can write your entries in any language even now and spell checking is available in most languages as well.

Michael K Will you be offering the home edition at a similar discount ?

Personally I have no need of the medical edition and therefore will not be a buyer but I could be interested in the Home edition based on a similar discount, alternatively I will pass all together.

Thanks

Petr I see you have a Portable Edition as well, enabling running from a USB stick or moving from one computer to another. Why would anyone buy the non-portable edition? Are there any feature differences?

I use Gmail Calendar and Gmail Contacts. Also use iPhone with the iCloud services. Can your software sync Calendars? (automatically?)
Can you software sync Contacts? (automatically?)

Dennis Volodomanov Hello, Petr.

The non-portable edition is used by the many people who have one PC in their home and they simply don't need to move SDS from one place to another. There are no feature differences between the two.

Just to clarify - when you purchase a license for any ediiton, it includes both the installed and the portable versions, so you are free to choose whichever suits your lifestyle better.

SDS can import/export ics/vcs/vcf files, so this would be the means to synch it to Google, but it's not automated (at least not at the minute).

_*_ Have or will you consider the addition of the ability to track medical bills for family members as well? I like the look of the program, but would really like to see a bill tracking feature.
Thank you
Apr 25 2012 at 4:22am Copy Link
0
Dennis Volodomanov Hello.

There is no bill tracking in SDS currently, but it's certainly a possible feature for a future version.

One way to get around this at the moment is to create a new Life Factor in the Diary that would track expenses.
Programming Sunrise - Apr 25 2012 at 6:49am Copy Link
0
_*_ Thank you for the response. It seems like such a natural extension to all that the program does.

Nothing too fancy, but enough to track ones payments in a central location in the program would be great.

I used Quicken Medical Manager in the past, but they went online only and I rather not have my entire family’s medical information out online; it would be better on my own hard drive.

0
Dennis Volodomanov Thank you for the suggestion. I'd be happy to discuss it further on SDS' forums (so that we don't go into deeper details here), if you wish. Would it be something like a simple income/expense spreadsheet?
Programming Sunrise - Apr 25 2012 at 8:20pm Copy Link

_*_ I downloaded the demo, and right off I am wondering why there is not an option to put all family members under one heading.

To have to create a different account for each person is much slower, then if a Family Diary had a list of family members to choose from and then work with in the program.
Apr 25 2012 at 8:23pm Copy Link
0
Dennis Volodomanov Do you mean to manage diary (and other) entries for other family members? The idea is that a diary contains personal information and thus only the person keeping it is meant to be using it (thus the optional password protection and strong encryption of the data - it's always kept private). You can create multiple diary files and open them one by one to work with them if you wanted to keep entries for your family members. Or am I misunderstanding what you meant?

Pavi Johnson Hi, I just was looking over the features, and you seem to have a lot regarding diary, scheduling, medication, nutrition, etc.

Is there anything for exercise or gym records? For weight training or cardiovascular?

Best, /Pavi
Apr 28 2012 at 8:43am Copy Link
0
Dennis Volodomanov Hi Pavi. Yes, those could all be tracked using Life Factors. There are ready-to-go Life Factor packs available at our online community (see this page: http://forum.psunrise.com...or-Central) and it's also easy to create your own. I'm happy to create those for you as well.

big-red I downloaded this software and been playing with it for a couple of hours.

I presumed from the title that this is a database app primarily designed for recording medical details. Wrong. This is a fantastic general diary / scheduling / note taking application. This medical version is the top of the developers range. It includes all of the features found in the lower versions, plus some extra medical features.

Each module, while not as comprehensive as some stand-alone note taking (etc) apps, is very configurable.

There are a few things missing, such as global text searching between modules. Hopefully the developer will add this soon. I'll post other suggestions through their forum.

Dennis - I've imported the large list of default nutrition ingredients and want to add them to specific recipes. There is no 'enter filter text here' box showing above the ingredient list. Am I missing something?

At $39.95 this software would be great value. At $9.95 it's a steal.
Apr 28 2012 at 2:42pm Copy Link
0
Dennis Volodomanov Yes, a global text search is something that's coming in the future and I'll be happy to discuss further improvements as well.

The ingedients pane doesn't have a filter box, but that's a good suggestion, thank you! :)

It would seem to be the Lite edition - not the $31.96 product.

Dennis Volodomanov Phred, today only the Home edition is on offer. Where do you see two offers? Or do you mean to 20% discount? If yes, then that's always available here.

Ah, I think I understand what you mean. This page wrongly lists $7.96 for the Medical edition. It's for Lite edition, but this page lists all three and starts at that price. I don't know why - we'll need to get BDJ guys to check it out.

Mary Wilson Looking at this and have a couple of questions. What is the main diffence between home and the medical diary. Did not see anything at the website. Like the fact that it has a diary function unlike my VueMinder Pro. Does it interact with google or outlook which I need as I currently use both of these for my calendar as it interacts with my iTouch.
Feb 12 2013 at 5:57am Copy Link
0
Dennis Volodomanov Hello Mary,

The differences are outlined on this page: http://www.sdiary.com/fea...-chart.php

SDS does not directly interact with Google/Outlook, but it does import and export vCal/iCal files that contain schedule and task data.

You can download and install a fully-functional trial to see if it works for you and then if it does, purchase it here with a coupon in a couple of days.

Feb 15 2013 at 2:16am Copy Link

Dennis Volodomanov R.G. - the main differences in the pain map is that in the Medical edition you can set detailed description and color of pain spots (Home edition allows only marking a spot). Any further extensions or additions to the pain map feature will only be available in the Medical edition.

Dennis Volodomanov Sue - I'm glad you found it out. Yes, you can use SDS on both laptops.

Robert - the "Community" is basically an online view of the forums here: http://forum.psunrise.com, so you need to be online (not offline) to view them and you need an Internet connection. Does it fail to connect?

Gina - Thank you! :)

Robert Newman Thanks for your time Dennis.

I'm online via the chrome browser but the Smart Diary isn't. Is it meant to connect as an online view automatically? Also, there seems to be no offline/online 'switch' in the diary as guided.

There is no 'Work Offline' switch under 'file' or anywhere else in the diary so I'm supposing automatic connection to my browser connection is what is meant to happen.

Sorry to be a pain.

Robert

Dennis Volodomanov Robert,

Yes, SDS will connect to the online community when you go to that tab in the user interface. At that point it'll start loading the forum into the browser window that's inside the user interface (you should see it come up shortly or an error message if it can't connect, but that's very rare). Do you see the forum come up in the view?

SDS itself never works online - all your data is stored offline on your PC (if that's what you mean).
Programming Sunrise - Feb 15 2013 at 3:29pm Copy Link

Robert Newman The following is what I'm getting Dennis:-

"The webpage is unavailable because you are offline

Things to try:
Connect to the Internet.

Make sure you aren't working offline. Press Alt, click File, and click Work Offline to remove the check mark."

.....And there's no 'Work Offline' under the file tab whether I press Alt or not. I've looked in all tabs for an on/offline choice but can't find one.

Also, don't know if it's necessary but I've got the the diary forum home page open in chrome as well.

Your diary is still a great piece of kit and I mean really excellent. It's just, I've got a thing about tabs and the like being on show when they don't do anything.

Anyway, thanks again.

Robert.

Dennis Volodomanov Robert, I'm glad you've sorted it out.

The firewall should've prompted you after you first accessed the community, saying that SDS is trying to access the Internet. I wonder why it didn't, but at least it's working now.
