Kenneth Bates Is the trial version exactly the same as the registered version?

I purchased about half an hour ago and took a screen grab of the confirmation of my order, including the license code. I went on to look at my receipt (which did not show that VAT had been paid - although it had).
After that, I could not get back to the "download here" link.

Alternatively, I could go to the AMS website and quote my Order ID.

Please advise.

Harry Wallington Some of the examples (Christmas/Holiday) that I have seen on the website feel a little bit cheesy - I mean, I think, that the effects rather seem to take equal place to the photographs inserted...whereas I would prefer them to be a little less dominant. I would hope this could be adjusted...but maybe that is not so easy.

However, this one below, of the wildcats - is much more natural - & the panning action is really very effective indeed.

Very worthwhile getting especially for this capability, I would have thought.

Maybe it is a bit much too ask...but would it be possible to insert short video clips...in the same way the photos are done? Or perhaps as a future development?

Norwel Gordon Because of the extreme limit of use on only ONE computer I ordered two copies:
One for my desktop and one for my laptop. Order ID: 3BGCC8G-B5752T
I downloaded and installed the first on my Win7 Pro 64 laptop and entered my first key. The program instructed me to close and restart. When I did the restart the program came up with a very limited UI and will not function and WILL NOT CLOSE! Before I try removing and reinstalling I want advice. Should I do that or do you have other instructions or suggestions?.

Harry Wallington BitsDuJour admin - you seem to be happy to work on a Sunday when this is something your staff do every day and could probably do with a break - while the vendor has not even made any response - when it is their special promotional day!

There is other software that I might have considered a while back (the people offering web courses) - but the same situation applied - the vendor made absolutely no response on a Sunday.

Perhaps no-one was in the office till Monday in that case... but this one seems harder to understand. It doesn't encourage confidence in the product - to get no answers.

Could you run the offer for another day to give the vendor time to get back to us - maybe there are time differences involved etc?

Norwel Gordon Harry Wallington's comments above are well stated.

I long ago adopted a policy of not ordering on BDJ when ever the vendor fails to respond to questions in a reasonable time (or manner). The fact that his BDJ offer is on a Sunday does not excuse the vendor from monitoring and replying to buyers questions during the time the offer is valid.

I was fooled this time by Kenneth Bates reply above.

On closer examination I now realize the response he "received 10 minutes after sending (his) message", was not a live response from the vendor but the normal auto response generated by the order process. I should have read all the "conversation" with more attention to the details.

My thanks to Constantin Florea for his efforts to nudge the vendor. At least BDJ cares about customer support.

Video clips import is planned in future updates.

All the designer templates (as the ones used in the Christmas slideshow) can easily be adjusted. You can have multiple layers on a slide (incl. up to 10 photos), add, replace of remove layers and fine-tune animation.

Bruno Verschraegen @Lesley Knight. That's great to hear. I had already moved forward and purchased three licenses. Played around a little but was late at night. Can you tell me how to go about using one's own clipart. When selecting clipart, the only place I seem to have access to is Gallery, but do not know how to add items to the gallery.

Scott Van Leeuwen I am finding the software that is being offered on BDJ is not their fault for support, but if a vendoe puts up a software promotion (except the free ones), they should be on and 24 hours fdor any question or problems we run into. I purchased Wonderfox for $14.95 a while back and then got an email a dayafter saying they had upgraded the software to version 6.1 and yes my key worked withit, but it runs like a snail, not a fox. Beware purchasers and download the trial veersions first before committing your money to these software vendors.

Bruno, you just need to add your own clipart images to Clipart directory inside the program folder. Next time you launch the program your cliparts will appear in the gallery.

Norwel Gordon I sent my email address to AMS-Soft.

Too late to take screen shot.

I forced shutdown, uninstalled your program around midnight.

This morning I installed an updated video card driver, reinstalled and re-entered my key.

Now seems to be working OK. But I will have to wait till next weekend to have time to try.

The screen looked about the same as now except none of the top tabs responded, including exit.

The only way I was able to close your program was by forcing shutdown in Task Manager.

I hope this information is useful.

I hope you will consider updating your EULA to allow installation on both a laptop and desktop.
Your current restriction would discourage many potential buyers.

Software Guy Marsha, what you might want is a JPEG or MJPEG to AVI converter to convert your time lapse images into a video. This is a very big field and there are lots of freeware and paid choices. Maybe start with a simple freebie like MPEG processor or any of the others to assemble your jpegs at any frame rate you want into an AVI or other video format. Then you can include the video in the slideshow if you wish. Hope this helps...

Lesley Knight The minimum slide duration you can set is 0.5 sec, minimum transition duration - 0.3 sec. We strongly recommend trying the demo version to make sure you can achieve the desired effect.

Hawkeye We have a problem. I bought this in Jan 2014, version 4. The latest version is 6. I did NOT upgrade. When I ran the program today, it stated I had 5 days left for free updates then took me to the website for a paid upgrade. I did NOT upgrade as I wanted to know the differences between version 4 and version 6. There is nothing about versions to see if if would be worth upgrading.

I realize my year is up, again I did NOT upgrade, but now when I run the program again, it states my trial period is over and exits the program. It clearly states in the fine print the following,

"After you purchase SmartSHOW 3D Deluxe it may be used indefinitely"

If I had known the software would quick working after the 12 months, I would have never have purchased it.

BUYER BEWARE, the fine print does not match reality.

Lesley Knight @ Hawkeye - We confirm that when you purchase SmartSHOW 3D, you receive a life-long license for the version you purchase, plus a year of free updates. Right after the first year is out, we suggest ordering the new version with the highest discount, and you get a notification from the software. Nevertheless, you can choose to stick to the old version.
As for the new features in version 6.0, they are listed below:

Hawkeye Lesley,

I just tried to enter the version 4 code in the software and it comes up and says that the Free Upgrades has expired, which means I'm getting to the server. It only allows me to Order the Upgrade or cancel. When I hit cancel, I'm back where I was, The trial period has expired. It should not have changed anything on the server since I never upgraded the software.

I will contact support and see if they can sort this out, but I'm really reluctant to order any upgrade, with these kind of issues.

I'm concerned beacause, if I replaced the system, I don't want to have to contact support when I enter a valid code for the matching software version. I understand the server validation, but it's a pain and waste of time for user's when it's not implemented correctly.

I have another one of your programs that will be one year old on March 2nd, will I have the same issues with it as well? I will try to upgrade it now since I'm within a year.

There seems to be an error on our side with activating your older version of SmartSHOW 3D - I'm sure tech support will help you sort it out.
With Photo Calendar Creator, the demo and the full version are not on the same server. It's true that the full version file is larger as there are more template files and high resolution images inside, but it certainly won't take 7 hours to download, it should take 5 to 10 minutes with average Internet connection speed, so just try again later. As a registered user, you should not download the demo - it can't be activated anyway. Download the full version via the link from your software, or contact tech support for a new link.

Pequi Smith I had the same issue as Kenneth Bates. The demo installed fine on my Win XP machine but froze Win 7 32 bit. Big yellow screen, needed a CTRL-ALT-DEL to unfreeze. I would advise potential buyers to see if their hardware/OS is compatible with the demo before buying the retail version. That said, it's an excellent program, very easy to use, and I ended up buying it. For the XP machine.

Lesley Knight Thank you for your comment! Indeed, it is a good idea to download the free trial first and see how it works. Basically, you just need the latest graphics card driver for SmartSHOW 3D to work properly, as with any multimedia applications that work with 3D graphics. Your hardware may be just fine (unless it is over five years old) but you just need to install the latest graphics card driver compatible with your Windows version. Get the driver from the manufacturer's website (Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA), don't trust a standard Windows check which is not reliable in most cases.

b g FWIW, when you click on the "Website" button above it takes you to http://smartshow-software.com which is for another product: SmartSHOW 3D.

But when you actually click on the "Get this Deal" button you go to the order form for the correct software (the Delux version). The differences are here:

Don't be put off by the cheesy euro-romantic themes, you can design your own and the tutorials are very useful.

The tech support can be gruff but generally useful. All in all, for $17 I think you cannot go wrong. (Yes, I have bought several earlier versions and will buy this one too, it's less expensive than updating, see the link above).

David O'Neill I just purchased this "Deluxe" version and when I install, it is not showing deluxe in the Help->about section and the transition etc. options are not reflecting the Deluxe version.

BTW, when I click "Get this Deal" it does show "Deluxe" in the purchase order form.

I have put in a ticket to support but it is something to be aware of.

The name of the software in the program window does not change after activating the key. The About section and all the window names will say "SmartSHOW 3D" for the free demo, the Standard version and the Deluxe version. However, some features will be closed in the demo and in Standard - you would get an information screen when trying to use one of these. For example, adding video clips is only possible in Deluxe. So just try adding a video - if it works, it means that your Deluxe version has been activated successfully.

Pequi Smith Re Lesley Knight post: Both computers are over 6 years old, but SIS does not maintain the video drivers, NVIDIA does. Which is why it runs on XP/NVIDIA and not WIN7/SIS. There is a lesson there - never buy anything with onboard SIS video drivers.

Lesley Knight Hi Don. In SmartSHOW 3D Deluxe, you can make 16:9 and 4:3 slideshows. There's no portrait mode I'm afraid. There's a simple workaround, though: you can rotate the pictures on the slides CW/CCW (or, even better, rotate them all in advance before adding them to the slideshow). katie User The license says install on one computer, but possible to transfer to another. I travel a lot and usually take my laptop when I do. So the natural place to install this would be the laptop. However, when I'm home, I often prefer to work on the desktop as it has more memory and is in a more isolated location than the dining room table. I would only be using the program on one computer at a time, but would I have to transfer it each time I used it on another computer? I'll be buying it regardless since I love making these kinds of videos. thanks

Lesley Knight Hi Katie, that's right, one computer at a time. In fact, transfer is allowed in emergency cases such as hard disk crash, or when you buy a new computer. The problem is that the number of activation attempts is limited, that's why you won't be able to switch between your desktop and laptop a lot of times. However, if you don't plan to do it very often, you may contact our support team if you run out of attempts, and explain what happened. But if you plan to transfer the software, let's say, more than once a month, then we recommend getting two separate licenses - one for your desktop and one for your laptop. It's not too expensive today, now that it's 80% off.

pw3000 Purchased software, great looking slideshows online.
I am looking forward to learning how to use this software package.
Have you considered an add on or separate package with all the slideshow templates included I would be interested in having all of them.. Part of the fun of doing a slideshow or video is deciding which background/music/template to use. Hopefully others who have purchased the software package might be like myself and just enjoy owning them, whether we ever get to use them or not..

If the price is very reasonable..

I don't think it's possible to create a package that would include all of the additional templates - just because the designers come up with new template packs from time to time. Don Goddard Purchased software and the output looks great. Also, I discovered that Win7 - Win10 has an innate function that allows one to rotate one or multiple (selected) pictures by selected an option from a right click. That function worked well for me.

Bertie Brummel @ vendor: Not really a brilliant idea to distribute what is called "trial" here on the BDJ site but in fact is a _demo_ only. Even worse: This demo includes the
"Help/Enter Key" option, but in fact, it is impossible to unlock the demo with the serial the vendor provides with his confirmation screen after purchase.
All you get is an error #734.
One has has to learn all this by visiting their support site ...

Stuart Perry I downloaded the program from the main site at 12:09 pm. Bought the program, and got a confirmation email with a Registration number. I entered it only to be told that it was invalid.I then downloaded the program from this site, same thing happened. 3 attempts later and waiting 3 hours for a response, I uninstalled the program, at which time I an automated survey asked why I was uninstalling. I filled out the info with my email address, as was requested so they could follow up with me. Now 7 hours later, no contact from anyone. Did I just waste my money?

A.O. Sarabia @Stuart - I suggest you dispute the charge, which is what I will be doing. They have a "lifetime return policy" in the fine print page, which is ambiguous at best but makes this refundable. I cannot get this company to reply to my issues and I know the received my email because I use a "proof of delivery" service. I am cancelling the order and sending my proof to the card company. It's not money wasted. Just call or email your card company like I am. Good luck!

Lonny User everyone grab this deal, this is the newest version 9.15, I bought this slideshow maker a month or so ago & it is the best out there, I have many slideshow makers from many companies & I have too many to list on here, nothing beats this one, most I like about this one is that you can customize almost everything, take away clipart etc, replace it & backgrounds, you can even add a video in the background of your photo slideshow & much more, there are many templates that you can buy from the AMS store at really good prices

Lonny User Lesley, yes I thought that was the way it is, one other customer said it was only good for one year that is why I made the comment, , yes the updates are good for one year, but whenever something new comes out I will be upgrading, this slideshow maker is awesome, I ordered a few sets of templates already & they are great too..

This looks like a great baseline application. Wondering if there are any plans to add the following capabilities to this app? If so in what time frame?:
1) Add kinetic animations to this app?
2) Import (point to) existing videos to merge at render time?
3) Import PPT files/individual slides to create slide show
4) Mark, sync text and audio, and create slides from text over images or on their own?
5) Integration with apps like Snagit?
6) Batch video creation, with rules to vary the slide order and output video lengths
7) Batch upload to video bookmark sites
8) Social account posting with commentary

Lonny User greg for me 3d deluxe is great like it is but i agree on kinetic app, every slideshow maker is different & do not have everything, i have many slideshow makers & over 200 software programs, i likely have not used many of them very much, i find some slideshow makers very hard to use, 3d deluxe is very easy to use, you can customize just about anything, even having a video background in your photo slideshow, i do not know of any other slideshow makers that can do all that 3d deluxe can do, i had photodex proshow web for a year, it was similar to 3d deluxe but you had to pay each year & you could not customize very much like 3d deluxe, i have no problem upgrading when need be with 3d deluxe, it will be worth it for me, maybe AMS should charge a fair fee each year for all of their users & have free updates..

JPR85470 I bought version 7 some time ago (Feb 2015) and I had to talk with the support every year to keep my license, because the software systematically hangs after one year in Trial version.
What about now with version 10? Always the same thing or need to buy the new update every year to keep the license?

Nigel Brewster @Lesley Knight I've read through some earlier comments to see others experiences. The theme that keeps arising is the one year licence and then you say the old blurb about it's a lifetime. Do you know the hassle users have to go through to get the programs working? I've told AMS when I have to ask for a new code on every single program and stil it's not addressed. You need to listen to people, nobody wants to keep asking esp when one of your members of staff is downright rude. Great software, silly policy.

It's true that we offer a lifetime license, but lifetime license doesn't mean lifetime updates. You get a lifetime license for the version you purchase. If you wish to get updates after one year, you pay to get those updates. If you download a new version without having paid for updates, the software will revert back to trial. This is common practice with most software products.
I realize that you might also be speaking about activation errors that occasionally happen when a year has passed. They do happen for some of our users - for some of our users' systems, according to the engineers. This is something we can hardly control. If it happens, though, support should help you asap.

You and Mary have tried to help, but the other person, another story, I'm a programmer and never once would I stop people using software.
Your the first company I've come across whereby you have to get in touch after one year support licence has finished, every other program I've used allows to use the app as is, with the option of updating. I know I've said that on them support tickets if I remember correctly, but you might like feedback, but it's not being acted on.

Thank you so much! I've carefully checked all those tickets. The third person who was not at all helpful as you say doesn't work for us any longer. We monitor the work of our support team all the time and address those who fail to help the customer. I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience caused to you in the past. As for the technical issues, our engineers do try to resolve these, but occasionally something in the user's system comes into play, which makes it hard to reproduce the problem in the first place. Really sorry that this happened to you, but support is there to sort it out.

Linton User Before I decide to purchase this program, I'd be very interested to know what system or technique you are actually using to create the 3D imagery!

Are you using the classic (Polaroid Glasses) type method or some other means to achieve 3D images?

Also, do you need to have a 3D TV/Monitor or Video Projector?

Or are they NOT actual true genuine 3D images at all???

Thank you for the interest you show in our software. "3D" in its name refers to 3D animation effects as opposed to plain pan & zoom and other slideshow classics. The software doesn't create genuine 3D videos (and we don't state this anywhere).

7 installations per footprint means that by default, each user gets 7 attempts for activating the license key. The number of activation is limited because the license allows you to use the software on one computer only. You can only transfer it to another computer if there is a technical problem or you purchase a new PC. (You're not supposed to install and activate it on both, or transfer it here and there).
7 attempts are normally quite enough until the next update when you get a new key. If there is a critical issue, though, e.g. you had to reinstall Windows several times due to some glitch and activate our software again after that, you can get in touch with tech support, and they'll add a couple of extra attempts in this case.

I see, thanks! Well, technically, you can do most of it with SmartSHOW 3D. You'll need Animated text and the 3D Camera tool (I'll leave the links below). But note that we don't have templates like this, which means you'd need to do it from scratch and it would take quite a long time. Our software is mostly designed to showcase photos & videos with music, rather than present ideas, and all of our templates are designed for photos. Bu technically, we have the tools for what you need.
