SmartWhois lets you look up all of the available information about any IP address, host name, or domain, giving you an advantage in shutting down malware attacks and spam. With SmartWhois, you'll be able to discover the country, state, and city of your digital assailants, as well as the name of their Internet provider, administrator, and technical support contact.

Using all of this knowledge, you'll be able to figure out the owner of the domain, their contact info, the owner of the IP address block, and so much more. And even if the domain name that you feed to SmartWhois contains foreign characters, like umlauts and the like, SmartWhois will still work to effectively uncover the owner's identity.

Thanks to an intelligent algorithm that searches whois data in over 100 databases, SmartWhois ensures that you're accessing the right data, every time. Plus, support for batch processing means that you can feed multiple IP addresses and domain lists into SmartWhois for one-time lookup, leaving you free to do other things!

The price of the product depends on your country (determined by your IP address). For most of the world, it's US$39 ($23.40 discounted), for Europe, it's EUR 34 (EUR 20.40 discounted) and for the UK, it's GBP 29 (GBP 17.40 discounted).

Roberto TamoSoft tools look quite impresive. Take a look to their website.

SmartWhois license is quite reasonable, allowing and aditional laptop license for mobility. I missed the Essential NetTools deal last month.

Im agree about some of their products are not for "amateurs like me", but maybe if they give us some discount we can "play" with these great tools and feel like a pro :)

Steven Avery Hi Folks,

Company looks sharp. No web forum. A bit piecemeal on the tools, smorgasbord style (e.g. a separate Country WhoIs and regular WhoIs).

The integration is with Internet Explorer, it seems a tool like this should have wider browser integration.

And the pic looks good, build up a database and see the info at a glance. Most WhoIs programs are designed for view and forget. Or they are integrated within a network suite, and the whois is simply a subset.

Nirsoft utilities are a freeware alternative.

If you goto allnettools and type in whois on the search

This one comes out on the top and nothing else really compares, if this idea of a WhoIs pleasant viewing, database, and more robust inquiry is what you want.

All in all, looks like a good niche product. I will watch the notes.

Why no Firefox integration ?

My other concern is that the product line is too balkanized. Maybe the company is in the Balkans ? :)

Michael Berg The company is New Zealand. Not so far from the Balkans;-)

Regarding Firefox integrations: yes, it is available, see

Steven Avery Hi,

Ok, that covers one major concern, suggest you add it to your blurb..

Chrome and Opera possible in the future ? (Not a big issue here, but curious.) I know Opera especially is not so helpful with the UI stuff.

How about a web forum, or a simpler email forum (Yahoogroups or googlegroups) in the future ? For communication and support. and discussion.

Anyway, this is a reasonable Bits. Why did you put the Country WhoIs as a separate product ? Here is the question: Is there something we will not see in this WhoIs .. about the source country .. that is in the Country program ? Please explain the distinction. Maybe the country shows the flag and plays the national anthem ? Do kiwis roll across the screen ? :)

Michael Berg Regarding Chrome and Opera: Yes, possible in the future, although it might be problematic in case of Opera due to the limitations of their extensions.

Forums: No plans. We offer excellent technical support by e-mail, free of charge, so if you have a question, please ask us directly; there is no point in asking someone else on a forum.

About ContryWhois: It's primarily a tool for processing large log files. It doesn't offer detailed info on each IP. Rather, it displays country-based stats. And it doesn't need Internet connectivity. SmartWhois queries live databases over the Internet. It's slower, but it gives you far more detailed info on IPs (plus domains, that's something CountryWhois doesn't do.)

About kiwis: yes, they sing and dance on the "Start" button. Nude:-)

Steven Avery Hi,

Thanks for the country whois info.

It looks like any sorting or report functions from SmartWhoIs comes through export. In the long run, since the database is being kept live, it would be nice to have a column mode, then e.g. if you hit the country sort column, you would see New Laughter and New Zany entries before New Zealand.

Forums are a nice touch, however I understand they are not as so common on these types of tools, partly because of the relative simplicity.
