Christopher J. Spilker Hi,

Can not discern: is this a TRIAL or full version with a non-trial license?

Thank you.

Roz Fruchtman Hi @Martin Kotulla:

I am going to need to get a new hard drive for my desktop and new computer for my laptop. Am wondering, because this is a free promo, does it mean that I WILL NOT be able to RE-install on the NEW hard drive and computer?

Also, can this be used on both the desktop AND laptop?

Thanks in advance and thank you for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Roz Fruchtman

Justine Jordan I received a serial number and download link for SoftMaker Office Standard 2012 for Windows, but there is no mention of the Elegant Handwriting Fonts. Is the reference to a bundle in error?

Cool User 2012?? Really???
This is a bit an embarrassing offer, isn't it, SoftMaker?
Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather get LiberOffice new version 5.x.x, not a 4 to 5 years old version

Martin Kotulla Dear Roz: SoftMaker Office 2012 includes 3 licenses, you can use 2 of them to run it on your desktop and laptop. It's no problem to re-install SoftMaker Office 2012 on your new hard drive and computer with the same serial number, as long as you don't use it on more than 3 computers. Best regards from SoftMaker

Kelly Hamblin Just wanted to jump in and say, that I' used SoftMaker 12 for several years. It is a very nice, comprehensive office suite. A few months ago, I purchased SoftMaker Office 2016, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's lovely to look at. It's quick. It does everything. It comes with a very good manual.

You can't lose. Grab today's freebie. If you like that, you should love the 2016 version.

Justine Jordan @Martin Kotulla

I asked whether or not the bundle reference is accurate, is it? If so, how do I go about obtaining the fonts?
Mar 29 2016 at 7:34am Copy Link

Doug Atkinson @Justine Jordan: I just noticed on the Order page that you have to scroll to the bottom of the screen to add in the Fonts - so they aren't part of a single "bundle", but you can add both the 2012 Office and the Font pack for free. You can go back an order again and just add the fonts - I just tried that and it seemed to work. However, I'm still waiting for my download links (they can take a while on busy days).
Also, SoftMaker has a special offer for SoftMaker Office 2016 if you are part of a school: http://www.softmaker.com/en/education (teacher, student, etc.).

We've seen some pretty strange terms of usage here lately and I wanted to make sure. What you share is the norm, the others are not.

Thanks again for your generosity.

Peter Dr I have used Softmaker forsix years or more. At present I am using the 2012 Pro version, but when I upgrade my computers, I will upgrade to the 2016 version. I also use Libre Office. But there are certain files that I set up with Word long ago that do not port over accurately to Libre Office, whereas SoftOffice handles them all with ease.

As suggested above: you can use the free 2012 version if you are new to SoftOffice, If you like it, you can upgrade to the paid version of your choice: -- 2012 Standard or Pro or 2016 Standard or Pro.

Incidentally, SoftOffice has a users forum which is very active. If another user does not have an answer (or even if they do), the Soft Officers also monitor and contribute to the Forum. Excellent support for all your questions or methods of getting what you need into your documents.

BTW: this is neither paid or political. It is just that I am a satisfied user who has paid for the versions that I have, and do, use.

Miguel Melo Hi, I have added the Elegant Fonts, proceeded all the way to check out and got an email confirming the order. However I don't see a link anywhere (neither on the email nor the site). What am I missing?
(I did not order Office 2012 because I'm already a client)

Software Babe If you are going to replace your hard drive, even from an HDD to an SSD, image the drive first after installing this software. Restore that image to the new drive and you won't lose anything UNLESS this software encrypts something to that particular drive. This is what I do with all my licensed software and so far it has always worked. I use AOMEI Backupper for imaging and restoration from one drive to another or just to restore a previous version of my system/settings.

Stephen Brown Hi

Am I able to buy the upgrade to upgrade from the 2012 version to the 2016 version? How long will the discount be for. It's now almost 2.30am so I don't expect to get an answer before today's deal is over, but will the offers you give still be valid?

Thank you.

Stephen Brown Please ignore my last comment re: being unable to find where Softmaker Office had been installed to. I usually install my applications to my J drive, but your software automatically installs to the C drive. I'm not used to installing applications to the C drive, so didn't think to check it until after I'd posted my comment.

I'm still interested to know whether I can upgrade the 2012 standard edition to the 2016 Pro edition using the upgrade offer. (How much would it cost)?

I used the software this morning and am really pleased with it. Until this morning I've always used Microsoft's Office and recently upgraded my very out of date 2003 version to the 2013 version (couldn't afford the latest edition), but I can only install it to one computer and we have six computers plus two laptops. I've been wanting a second Office program so that I could install to at least one other computer. After being an MS Office user for so many years, I was pleasantly surprised at how good your software was I had no problems using it after using MS Office for years.

Thank you.

Wade Townsend Hi, regarding your 2016 offer I see an enhanced version of Mozilla's Thunderbird e-mail program is included. Since Mozilla has now discontinued Thunderbird - no longer available on their website - do you plan on replacing this e-mail program with another one since it is no longer being developed or updated?

Thanks.

Pequi Smith Dataminingware - why do I have to give so many personal details to download what is in effect, an old office suite ? I'll skip this one.
I've had an account with SoftMaker for years. I registered with my email. Some months later I got a "please give us a phone number to validate your account", and now they want my home address to "validate my account". What's next, biometrics ?

Wade Townsend @ Cool User: I was a long time user of Thunderbird until last year when Mozilla announced it would no longer continue it or it's development. Evidently they have changed their minds and are continuing it.

Thanks for the info as I really like Thunderbird and will go ahead with my plan to upgrade from Softmaker Office 2012 to 2016 and start using it again.

Metta Zetty I've been using SoftMaker 2012 for well over a year, and IMHO it is vastly superior to both Word and Libre Office. I highly recommend the free 2012 version to anyone looking for a good word processor.

I also wanted to check with Martin now.....Is taking advantage of today's Standard or Pro discount the most cost effective way for a current 2012 user to upgrade? (FYI, I made my original purchase in September of 2014.)

Cool User Hello Martin,
Does your modified/customized version of Thunderbird for the 2012 or the 2016 version open Outlook .pst and .ost files? A client of mine is interested, and asked me the above question.
If it doesn't directly open the files, does it import everything from them?

The current (original) Thunderbird doesn't give the user that option. It only gives the option to import from "installed" Outlook or Outlook Express, but no import from a file option, to the best of my knowledge.

Ability to open or import from a pst file would be extremely helpful when the pst file is backed up on an external storage, for example, and Outlook is no longer installed on the system.
Thanks.

Wade Townsend @ Meta Zetty: Hi, just saw your inquiry and have upgraded from Office 2012 to Office 2016 and was able to purchase it at the upgraded price so you can too... I verified this with Softmaker Sales prior to doing so and it is the best way to go. When you click on the Office 2016 link it takes you to their website and displays all your purchase options and prices.

Hope you see this before the offer expires.

Metta Zetty @Wade Townsend: Thank you for your thoughtful follow-up!

I just now compared the discounted price here for the new Standard 2016 package ($41.97), and it was actually cheaper for me to purchase the Standard 2016 upgrade from their web site ($29.95).

Thank you, though, very much for your kindness in attempting to reach me before the sale expired.:-)

the only difference is that the Pro-Edition has

Is this really the complete diffence?

_*_ Switched to SoftMaker Office years ago now from MS Office and do not regret it at all.
Have purchased the 2012 Standard, and Linux versions, as well as upgraded to the 2016 versions of the Windows Pro version, and the Linux version.

While it does not have every bell and whistle of MS Office, it also does not have the price tag, nor is it a MS product.

For me personally, it was a great switch and one that I will stay with for a long time to come.

Pick up the free version here, and then support SoftMaker and purchase the 2016 version as you find yourself appreciating the free version.

Norwel Gordon @Every Reader

I was about to send my comment then found _*_ above which said almost exactly what I was about to say..
Wonderful product. Better for me than than Libre Office or MS Office or Open Office. And free, plus install on 3 computers is about as good as it gets..

I also have no affiliation with SoftMaker other than a pleased user on both Windows and Linux.

Cary Adams I'm a licensed Softmaker 2012 user. Overall I like the package although there are some formatting issues with Word docs, small as they may be. Same can be said for LibreOfiice.

The greatest shortcoming for me, is the lack of access and manipulation to web data, and VBA programming. I like to track investment holdings, priced through Yahoo Finance and Google Finance. Neither 2012 nor 2016 can do that. The only spreadsheet tools that I've found capable, are LibreOffice, Google Sheets and Excel.

With LibreOffice I .frequently experience intermittent crashes when I "paste" from cell to cell, which sets me back to the most recent "saved" version to again update. That finally stopped my LibreOffice use.

As I'm uncomfortable w/putting personal data on the web, that leaves me Excel. I opted for the Home & Student 2013 edition which has served me well and I uninstalled Softmaker.

Softmaker 2016 is a good offering, though I'm quite disappointed thy chose not to include web access commands in their spreadsheet product. If your spreadsheet world doesn't involve the web, then I thing you'll be happy with the STANDARD EDITION,

Terry Lee I got it just, not yet tried to install. Thank You nice offer. Before I install it I lke to know is this program 32 or 64 bit? Is there also Finnish language support?
Is it compatiple with Windows 10? I understood that if I keep its safe place then I can install it also later. Can I understood right?

Wade Townsend @ Metta Zetty My pleasure and glad I was able to help. I too did the upgrade but just purchased the Standard Version for $17.97 as I did not need the multi-language dictionaries... It's nice to see they extended the sale another day so yourself and others could take advantage of it...

Enjoy!!

Martin Kotulla Dear Terry Lee: SoftMaker Office 2012 is a 32 Bit software. It has no Finnish user interface (tip: SoftMaker Office 2016 has it), but of course you can write in Finnish. Using SoftMaker Office 2012 with Windows 10 is no problem. Best regards from SoftMaker

peter anon Thanks for this offer and I even upgraded to Pro.

As already mentioned, the fact that you have to MANUALLY add on the fonts pack is confusing.
It would be better if you made this a one click BUNDLE.

Second confusion is you list the FULL versions without really explaining that they can upgrade form the 2012 (free) version.
This comes across as slightly deceptive in that you are hoping people will just skip to FULL.

By addressing these 2 issues, you will remove confusion and probably increase confusion.

If you leave it as it is, you will continue to be confusing and come across as second rate IMHO.

If your "cart" is too stupid to do this, change your cart ;-)

RC Softmaker Office user here since 2008. Softmaker Office 2012 is a great product, highly recommended. Don't let the "2012" moniker deter you, it's a very capable product, and has less of a footprint than other bloated software. If you are lacking an office suite for Windows, by all means grab this.
