What are people saying about Spotmau Powersuite 2011

anthonyraynor? I have used the 2008 version and recently purchased the 2010 version through the vendor for 50% off, matching the deal here. Unless I am incorrect it appears to be a modified linux live CD combined with an installed program for maintenance and recovery. I found the live CD to be most valuable, as it is customized with a few tasks, therefore being easy to use. When windows won't boot, a linux CD really helps to recover data if you have to go that route.

Keith Norton I'm planning on picking this up, but the comment from "future Parker (visitor)" above is a direct quote from the product's website under the heading "what customers are saying?" That sort of obviously planted (and potentially dishonest) comment makes me hesitate.

Powersuite 2010 is good value at the discounted price. it pays for itself the first time you need to repair/access a troublesome PC. For example, the reset administrator password is a godsend, when you've been asked to log into a PC with no usernames or passwords. the interface could be better (IMHO) but it is an excellent set of tools/utilities. My order will be placed at the BDJ price. Like most tool/utility software, there can be an alternative that may be as good as or better than... in some peoples opinion. I've not come across any individual software suite that 'has it all'. Having said that, Spotmau powersuite 2010 would compliment any PC support guy's arsenal of tools. At the heavily discounted price I'd recommend it.

DH007 I found some forum on PowerSuite at http://forums.cnet.com/77...t;forums06 and the comments are not too positive. At least how is the compatibility with Norton/Symantec products?

Keith Norton I purchased the program early in this sale and tried it out. I like it and so far I think it works well. The problems on the cnet forums above appear to be of two types.First, some folks could not get the software to fix their trashed computers and were dissatisfied. Others had problems getting the disk shipped to them and felt customer service was poor. My attitude is that stuff like this sometimes happens, but it looks like good software to me. I'm buying another copy (this time I'll buy the disk too, and see what happens). I cannot comment on Norton compatibility (I gave up on Norton years ago), but it seems fine with Kaspersky.
