Jim Burd Does StatPlus have ODBC drivers to access and mine multiple database applications or must all data be extracted to a standard format flat file for analysis? As well, what are the answers to the other questions?

AnalystSoft Support Team 1. Yes, it's StatPlus 2009.
2. Current version handles well datasets 10k rows x 1k columns.
StatPlus 2010, coming in Spring, handles well 1000k (1,000,000)+ rows x 16384 columns.
3. Unfortunately current version doesn't have ODBC component, it will come with StatPlus 2010.

We recommend you to contact us directly using our online chat for sales related question (in case of overload - you will get answer in 1-2 hours) or our ticket system for "deeper" inquiries.

disenchanted Will this offer be like the one in January,  where you can purchase (during checkout) an extra 3-years subscription + life time upgrade for $30?

Günther E. with your offer in january you talk: .... StatPlus 2010, coming in Spring, .... . Is the version now version 2010? If it is NOT 2010, how long is the period before next releas and buying that there are NO upgrade costs. I do allow me to ask, because 2010 seems to be in the pipeline because it is summer now. Best regards to all of  ../../vendor/analystsoft-2/

S B 1) StatPlus looks to be based upon a spreadsheet (which?), can this spreadsheet be leveraged: other user-defined sheets, cut-and-paste from other spreadsheets, etc.?

2) Will StatPlus do advanced graphics (i.e., more than box plots and variations of bar/pie charts & 2-d plots) : 3-D scatterplots, scatter matrices, contour plots, surface plots, etc.)?

Is is capable of modern publication-quality graphics?

(the product web site doesn't really show very much, other than)

3) Is StatPlus compatible with Windows 7 x64? Excel 2007/2010?

4) When do you expect StatPlus 2010, and will it be a free upgrade?

5) Is StatPlus actively evolving, and in which directions do you anticipate StatPlus growing (especially with new statistics, new data management, new data transformations/filtering, data display, interactive analysis, etc.)?

Thank you very much!

William Gorman I have Excel 2000, 2003 and 2007. I don NOT have Excel 2004, 2008 or 2011 (does anyone have this last one?).

Alex Simachov William, These Excel versions are for Mac OS. S B, You can try trial version and decide if StatPlus is for you. Please use this link: http://download.analystso...atplus.exe Günther, No, this is the 2009 version. Please use the ours ticket system to get details. Frank, One can purchase during checkout an extra *-years subscription, but bug with price was fixed. But if you have already purchased extra subscription, even for only $1 - it will be active because it was ours bug.

S B Alex, I'm sorry, I'm asking for details about the product and what it is--things you may be proud of--not about its suitability for me. I don't install products without knowing a bit more about them and what I can expect. Unfortunately you don't seem helpful and forthcoming *to me*. Thanks, anyway.

Alex Simachov Jim, This version is 2009. StatPlus 2010 wasn't released yet. By ticket system I've meant the support.analystsoft.com, where registered users can get priority reply. S B, I'm sorry for advising trial version without detailed reply. Because many analysis vendors do not provide trial version but very limited DEMO, many users ask about things like compatibility with Windows 7, ability to read SPSS document in full version, because suppose we also provide demo version but not just time limited. That's why I've advised you to try trial version. I'm sorry again. StatPlus for Windows spreadsheet doesn't have too many templates/customization options, but it support Excel 97-2003 documents (text/formatting/charts), Excel 2007/2010 (only text in current build). It looks and should feel like Excel - formulas, copying, pasting, pictures, charts, etc. Here are some screenshots: http://www.analystsoft.co...nshot1.png http://www.analystsoft.co...nshot2.png http://www.analystsoft.co...nshot3.png About graphics - StatPlus has 3D scatterplots, scatter matrices, contour plots, surface plots (all the graphics you mentioned). http://support.analystsof...-115kb.jpg Some of them are available now thru the deep menu tree, but this will be fixed next week with 5.8.5 build (of course it will be free).

Constantin Florea Hi Gunnar. Could you please try clearing your browser cache and try again? I've tested the Buy Now button on three browsers (IE, FireFox and Chrome) and they all peformed correctly by showing the pop-up with the license type selection. The prices are also correctly displayed in the Buy Now page.

Ryan Franklin How does Statheplus compare to the current excel release?
Apr 9 2011 at 4:06am Copy Link

Gonzo Something doesn't make sense here...

The Policy tab on BDJ site states:
"Free upgrades for 1 month, paid upgrade with 50% discounts to future versions for all purchasers. Support for 1 month."

The StatPlus website states (it was hard to find: http://www.analystsoft.co.../buy.phtml):
"As a registered user, you will be eligible for all program updates and bug-fixes for free."

The BDJ information makes the policy look like a rip-off, especially for the regular (i.e. non-discounted) price; however the information on the StatPlus website seems too vague (or too good to be true, at least when compare to the BDJ) and is kind of hidden.

Can someone please clarify the updates/upgrade policy as well as the support info?

Alex Simachov To Ryan Franklin,

StatPlus:mac and StatPlus for Windows include all the Analysis Toolpack features and much more. Here you can see the list of statistical procedures available in StatPlus:
http://www.analystsoft.co...hots.phtml
But please note that spreadsheet features in Windows version are not so powerful as Excel's one.

Alex Simachov To Gonzo,

Yes, unfortunately we have to limit time frame for support of BDJ version (as well as for regular, full priced version) because support of statistical package requires more resources and more qualified staff than for generic Windows or Mac desktop tool.

Today's BDJ version includes free upgrades during 1 month, full priced version includes free upgrades during 1 year. Text from the bottom of "buy now" page meant free updates for the same version (i.e. 2009). Anyway, I agree, that this text is confusing and should be fixed to agree with License Agreement and support/updates package from the invoice/receipt. But in any controversial question we always do the best to satisfy customer.

Alex Simachov To Raj Vyas,

Nope, you don't have to pay for any tests available in Pro version. BDJ version is the same version that regular Pro version (actually there are no different version, just different links for purchase valid for limited time).

Glen Coulthard The development timeline is troubling. StatPlus 2010 was promised in January 2010 (nearly 2 years ago), with support for more data rows and ODBC database connectivity. There hasn't been a product update since StatPlus 2009. I was interested in this software, but I wonder if the company is a going-concern.

Learn_w_ Graffix This is WAY less expensive than SAS or SPSS. How does it compare? Specifically, (1) How many records can it analyze at a time? (2) What built-in statistics can it compute?

charles hedbring Charles Hedbring -- EXCELLENT! I bought it already and will take advantage of the huge price drop today. At age 66 with a PhD from Columbia many wars ago(!), imagine the stats I've
taken and worked with.
In truth, it is well worth every discounted cent. For those disinclined to grapple with the SD, back at Northwestern in the
1960s we had to calculate it! So everything in StatPlus looks
good to me! And everything is so logically organized that I really
believe you too will be delightfully impressed.
Stats can be tough or easy; it can drown you or allow you to
float and paddle your way arouind. StatPlus allows us newbie
types with bad memories to paddle until their help system gets
us up and comparing one small group with another. For the brainiacs, there is no holding back: "get 'er on!"
StatPlus -- the statistics pgrogram built to allow turtles and hares both to get their work done as quickly and easily as possible. ~programsteppe.com

John Terdik For me the order form was confusing. I ordered the base package with one year of support and upgrades and this was added to the base purchase price. I incorrectly thought it was an either/or purchase, e.g. I thought that by ordering the base package with the 1 year support and upgrade that would be the total price.

Also I'm not sure if this will work with Office 2010 x64. When I went to the website on the home page they offer a chat and state that it is available now but when you click on the icon you are presented with a screen that informs you the chat is not currently available and allows you to send and email.

Lots of confusion........ The amount of confusion does not give me a great deal of trust.
