Virus Scan for Sticky Password

Amit 1) Recently tried this some time ago and it had problems with multiple logins of same site - like multiple email accounts on one mail site. It had also been talked about by other users too at support forum of sticky password.

Any updates to correct that issue ?

2) Also the license -
"Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed."
Seems to be not that good.

With people frequently upgrading / moving to new systems.

Sticky Password Team Hello Amit, thank you for your questions, we tried to clarify point 2) in the Policy section - the License is for use on one computer, but of course, if you change machines, you can carry your license over. We do not want you to loose your login and Identity information because of a system upgrade!

And as for question 1) Any password manager program can run into issues with multiple fields, as many sites name their own form and login fields differently. To fix any issues on more popular sites, all we need is the specific websites causing this issue for our users (this can be submitted automatically from the program) and we then can modify the program so it works specifically for that website portal. Overall we have no issues with multiple logins if the user uses the latest version of Sticky Password and the latest version of particular web browser. Sometimes it helps to delete and re-create the account with multiple logins again.

Have used Sticky Passwords since version 4 and have never looked back, i have used several other form fillers/password managers and find this stacks up very well against these.

@Amit, i have 3 Yahoo accounts and 2 Gmail accounts and Sticky handles these logins just fine albeit you have to manually pick the appropiate user login for the site which makes sence as the field names would be the same for the login form.

The only login that i really have issues with not auto filling is, funnily enough, BitsDuJour, yup this very site, so maybe a fix could be arranged for that :).

Pavi Johnson Hi, one of the touted features of 6.0 was "clipboard encryption". Can you comment on how this is achieved?

For example, are passwords copied to browsers via the clipboard, whose contents are somehow encrypted? Or is there some copying obfuscation? Or perhaps encryption channels made to chrome, firefox, etc.?

How would this then work for other programs that have logins, which then might rely on the clipboard?

This is a big issue, as another program (mSecure) decided to just copy/paste passwords, which of course is the first place keyloggers and clipboard monitors would steal your password, and a serious security breach. The open source KeePass uses the clipboard with 2-channel obfuscation, but lacks the virtual keyboard (and useful fake cursor) of Sticky Password.

Sticky Password Team Hey Peter, which browser and which version of Sticky Password do you use? The autofill should work just fine on BitsDuJour website.

@Pavi this feature “controls” your passwords copied to the Clipboard.

When a password is copied to your clipboard and Sticky Password detects a command to paste it, it automatically asks you to confirm if you really want to paste your password. By allowing you to double check where the password will be pasted, this increases your security and prevents possible theft of your password while being in the clipboard.

Thanks, but this solution doesn't appear to be secure at all! Many malware can read the clipboard contents and/or intercept it being pasted...

This is extremely poor security!!!

Wasn't "clipboard encryption" supposed to be a feature of version 6??

Sticky Password Team Actually the new feature is Clipboard Protection, not encryption.

Opera 11.50 and 12 and Firefox 15 and 16.
Sticky password 6.0.5.415.

The issue is it does not auto populate the BitsDuJour fields on the log in dialog, it does allow for manually entering by clicking on the Sticky password icon and clicking the account.

Q1. Do I assume that this feature is only for the Microsoft Windows Clipboard, OR, can it be redirected to protect 3rd Party clipboard programs that allow the user to select if the program REPLACES the Op. Sys. M$ Windows program?

[Yes the 50% Bitsdujour deal, is a smidgeon better than the Upgrade offer but sadly not as good as the Acronis Halloween deal where the most it would cost was $5USD :-(

Will Greidanus Yea it's free but under featured in one major aspect.
I use Last Pass which I can use on any computer anywhere because it is web based.
It has all the features Sticky does and beyond. I will stay with LastPass

Sticky Password Team Of course a matter of opinion. Similarly it can be argued, that Sticky Password is giving more control of the password database, because it is NOT a web-based application and you can also carry (for FREE) the locally created and stored database on your USB key (encrypted of course) anywhere . That said, the ability to sync over the cloud is something that is in the works for Sticky as well - but not as a mandated rule, but as an option!

Gary-lee Gordon Hasn't anyone heard of RoboForm? It is better than either this or the other you speak of. One, you have the option to let it be in the internet or just your computer. And it operates no different than either you all mentioned. And what's more, it has been around a lot longer and has been rated the best. I have used it for years and from what I have read about this one and the other mentioned, they pale in comparison...... Never have had a issue with it and it transfers from computer to computer seamlessly if you allow it to go online to access your passwords, but ONLY if you have it set to do so, otherwise, only the computer it's on can use it. I won't go into the logistics, but as I said, from what I have read of these others, I think that everyone would be better off with RoboForm over either of these..... JMO.........

I do not understand when people make recommendations, personal opinions or not, when they have not used the product in question. I have used Roboform, Keepass and Lastpass and i can say that Sticky Password is easily as capable as any of the rest and unlike Roboform who change licence conditions mid stream and then not look after long time users, i find the developer of Sticky Password to be responsive and generous with his efforts towards making the application top notch. As for the ability to sync across devices, i prefer to keep my passwords to myself and use the portable version on USB keys, thumb drives, sticks, or whatever you wish to call them, i do not trust keeping this sort of information in the cloud as i have seen first hand what can and does happen in data centres (Cisco Network and Security Engineer), however it is good to know that for those who would like this option, that Sticky Password will get this in the future, so win win for everyone, besides at this price you can't go wrong.

Frank Stephens I hate the new Sticky Password toolbar in IE9, it doesn't work in and apparently crashes InPrivate Browsing. You can enable the toolbars during InPrivate Browsing, but that defeats the purpose. The caption button was much better. I could use another browser,but they all have issues. Chrome uses too much CPU, doesn't support MHTML, traps you in Google World, the Google experience is generally inferior to the Google Toolbar and accelerators in IE9, and it also has its crashes. I used to like Sticky Password a lot, much more than RoboForm, but in an effort to fill out more forms, it's become far too aggressive. Before, if a form didn't fill out automatically, you could just copy the login and password. Now, it's more likely to fill out the wrong fields, hidden fields, etc., such that it's sometimes necessary to not just disable it, but sometimes Exit. This behavior is dangerous when placing orders, creating new accounts, etc. Sticky Password needs to dial back the aggression.

Frank Stephens Sticky Password Team, before when a site failed to fill out, one could just report it. Now, Sticky Password can actually do bad things, and during order placement, etc. This is fundamentally different from a login failure. As for a site that does bizarre, although generally not harmful things, UPS.com comes to mind. Sticky Password also behaves differently depending upon which browser one is using.

Sticky Password Team It is possible to disable the automatic filling for particular sites and Sticky will only fill your credentials when you need it. This can not be done in general for all sites, but we are constantly working on the improvement of autofill feature, which sometimes can lead to undesired behavior on some sites. I am happy call myself a longstanding user of Sticky Password - I originally bought it as a result of a heads up recommendation from another BDJ member when I explained a fundamental security issue with Roboform which I then previously using.

I am a HUGE fan of this software and the development team who have always been extremely responsive. I participated in the beta testing of Version 6 and continue to use this program throughout each and every day.

I particularly find the secure memos useful and they have been greatly enhanced by a nice search facility - no good writing something down securely if you can't find it easily.

I am delighted to speak in glowing terms of this software and the developer at every opportunity and believe it is kudos to both BDJ and the developer for bringing this super software gift to BDJ members.

Interesting to see that also others are fed up with Roboform license problems. I have lost count of the number of times I've had to renew Roboform licenses that were supposed to work for a long time longer. So I'll be glad to give Sticky Password a try, but is there some way I can import my large Roboform password database into Sticky Password?

It was not a Roboform license problem I was having but what I regarded as a serious security flaw they were unwilling to address - basically it is this:

In Roboform, if you click on the icon on the taskbar Roboform icon it shows a list of all the website names you are trying to protect. It shows that list without the need to enter any password or go through any security measure whatsoever and to me that is a big flaw.

You can't get into the websites without entering a master password into Roboform but do you really want anyone who has access to your computer to be able to see a full list of all the website you are trying to protect ?

As far as importing into Sticky Password, you can import from Roboform and LastPass although I have no experience of LastPass and so cannot comment further.

Hope that helps and that you benefit from Sticky Password as much as I have and do on a daily basis.

Innuendo For those considering Roboform over this product, you may also want to consider that Roboform lost its Better Business Bureau accreditation in 2011 and has made no efforts to get it back.

Also, while Roboform is locked, others cannot log see your protected information. However, Roboform's settings are never password-protected allowing anyone to access the settings and change them or delete the master password file.

This vulnerability has existed for years and Roboform refuses to address it.

Roboform has also made it increasingly harder to export data to other programs. The company says it has made these changes in order to make your data more secure, but if they were interested in security, wouldn't they want to secure the settings from attack/modification as well?

Good thread. I think I will give Sticky a real shake-out this time. (The main alternative is Keepass.)

One point of note. A person might want to use LastPass for low security, on-the-move sites, like forums, places where there is no financial information kept. It really has a pleasant interface.

And then use Sticky for all those financial and high priority places where you really want all the information at home.

Just one thought. Everything is not either-or. In the LastPass world in the forums there would be discussions of trying to set up a "two-tier" approach, but it goes against their basic philosophy.

Mike Murphy OK, so I have wasted a few hours trying to import from Roboform, which obviously does not work, no matter how you follow the directions. Importing from the first method gives an report "No Unprotected Passwords Were Found", so I tried exporting to html. This imported all my passwords into the bookmark section and not the web accounts area, so now I have hundreds and hundreds of bookmarks instead of web accounts. It is virtually impossible to delete them in one single bang, because the computer freezes if you try to pick too many because the program goes so slow. Over five minutes before I had to reboot manually.

I was hoping to move from Roboform, but I guess this won't be the way to go.

Louis H @ Mike Murphy... I recommend giving the vendor a chance to further explore what the problem is. I had no problems at all with importing everything from Roboform. The steps outlined on the help page quickly had me up and running with IE 9, Firefox 17, and Chrome 25 browsers. (fwiw I had not updated to the latest Roboform. Still using 7825 - current build is 7875. Also using Win 7 Home Premium.)

eri staz Thank you very much for this free license for Sticky Password 6 PRO!! I had always used 5.0 for many months and was excited to be able to upgrade for free. I love that this is not web based and this program has always served me well. The interface on this is very easy to use, I urge everyone to hook up your friends, family, grandparents, etc. with this program. (We all know someone who is - ugh- still using ABC123 for passwords, right? Now is the time to show them how it's really done. Thanks again, Sticky Password, I am loving the program. I missed it on another website the other day, so was thrilled with the customer service you provided when I emailed you to ask you about it, as you led me here to this website instead of telling me to buy a license. You guys rock! Looking forward to when this is released for droid in a month or two. :)

Kevin Bensel The "Fine Print" states the following:

"Sticky Password 6.0 is licensed per computer, and not per user.
Each license allows installation on 1 computer."

I use a desktop and a laptop at home. To be able to use Sticky Password on both machines do I need to download it twice (and have two different passwords)?

pumpkin I tried the import feature by following to the letter the faq for Roboform 6 but keep getting "No Unprotected Passwords Were Found". I tried then the import .html option but although my imported Logins show up in the Web Accounts section, when I click on StickyPassword's icon in Firefox from a web page I wish to log on, there is no logins present.
I wanted so much Sticky Password to replace Roboform since the stunt they pulled on us but I'm not sure I can if the import feature does not work. Please help.

i've read: Each Sticky Password license includes the Sticky Password Portable Version FREE, so you’ll always have your passwords when you need them.

but the question is: on the removable device is database or all main program executable everywhere (with database)??

pumpkin Success. But first, I would like to add that my import from Roboform to SP gave some weird results. The logins showed all right in Firefox 19 but did not in Firefox 3.6.
So I gave another try by importing going from Roboform to LastPass and then did an export in a .csv file. Sticky Password imported the file without a hiccup and the data seems all right (I have not checked all of them but the main web sites showed and worked fine in Firefox 19. Nothing showed up in Firefox 3.6 but I can live with that because I kept this version for compatibility reasons with Roboform 6 only. Now I can fully migrate to the latest updates of Firefox.
SP is much nicer to use than LastPass with all the favicons. The program seems also snappier.
Thank You Very Much to the developers for offering us such a fine piece of software.

@Ezier - the portable version is the almost the same like the desktop version. You move the database from PC to the USB device. It works when you go to another PC, no installation needed. Just like portable browsers.

From earlier discussions we learned that Roboform (and PhraseExpress) is a programs that goes out of its way to make export difficult, essentially holding your data hostage.

This is one reason not to start with them, and if you have started with them, to leave, even if it means a certain amount of hand work.

y t I have installed the trial version just check this out. And it seems excellent software. Once you get the serial number, free deal just for today, it can change the trial version into pro version.

Software is excellent but I need to know if it is really secure that even Lamanite software company can't access to our passwords.

Overall it is excellent, just not using for financial access purpose.

ellison Ive used sticky password for nearly two years now and cant recommend it enough.The support is great and its swiftly updated with browser version updates.I havent any qualms with their buisness practises which have always been fair....unlike siber systems roboform who reneged on their customes lifetime licence policy of which i was one.I dont want cloud storage of my private passwords and sticky passwords have always respected that.First class app and first class support.

The database is also stored there, if you select it then it is ported onto your USB key. Never leaves through the cloud. You should not be afraid to use it for financial transactions, as it is crucial to change passwords regularly for these institutions and make these as complex as possible - but of course, the final decisions is yours!

For instance right now your are getting version 6.0 and when the release of 7.0 version comes out, you will have the choice to upgrade to the new version, with some discount for sure. Any updates that we release for 6.0 version however (we do about once every month to help support new programs, browsers and so on) are included in this price (now giveaway). Hope that is fair!

Can the 2 licenses each use the same passwords completely? Is there a way to transfer the entire database from one computer (I mainly use my desktop) to my other computer?

Sticky Password Team @ Kevin Bensel - we know that each person has a bit specific way of using a password manager, so if we will not answer fully here, just let us know at support@stickypassword.com and we can continue the discussion until it works best for you.
But in general, each license lets you create a separate database, which is unlocked with specific master password. For obvious security purposes it means - that one master password is good for one database. What you can do is take the database on your USB key and once that is placed into another computer, Sticky Password portable is enabled with the same master password, no installation necessary. And after you remove the USB, nothing is left on the second computer. Hope this helps at least a little.

chris hicks Hi, I'm on Windows 7 with IE10, Chrome and Firefox 19 and this works just fine in IE/Chrome but is showing as disabled for Firefox. When looking into the Plug-ins to double check this shows as enabled in FF. I've tried restarting the browser a few times, did an uninstall/install of the extension for FF and it still always shows as disabled in Sticky Pass. Is there something simple I'm possibly overlooking in order to get this to work with FF?

Kevin Bensel Many people have discussed RoboForm and a few discussed LastPass, neither of which I have previously used, as I'm just now researching the use of a password program. Another one that I have heard good things about is Password Depot. Does anyone have any experience / familiarity with that who can share their thoughts.

Or maybe the Sticky Password Team who is answering all these questions might discuss the differences between the two products.

You can not wait in a grocery store for a discount of your favorite food for a year. We know that our current customers who have paid for our product may be jealous, but with this promotion we attract more people, we get some feedback we need and it is a win win situation we hope. On GOTD for example the license goes with no support option. It happens with all product. You buy a laptop and a year after it costs half of it.

@Kevin Bensel - well it seems that Password Depot has already integrated the mobile support, which we have under development right now, but we will have to test it properly if this product should be really taken as our competition. As far as I can see, the GUI is not nice, they do not support autofilling application passwords like Skype, ICQ, etc., their website is pretty trashy so one can not see what they really are capable of. I think the best you can do is try our solution, their solution and make your picture what suites you the best. 100 of people 100 opinions. Get our license for free and take your time :) Regarding the Android question - yes, that is correct at this time unfortunately.

Thanks for offering such a deal because it is how I discovered Your program.

As an existing Paid Owner of version 6 I do know of one(1) feature that many Bitsdujour followers really do like to see built in or as an optional addition:

And that is: many people refer to it as a Lifetime License, but basically only Paying Once for a License which includes major upgrades for the life of the product.

A great many Bitsdujour followers really hate having to pay every time an upgrade becomes available for a product. Like with Sticky Password and lots of other programs too.

PLEASE READ ON:

It has been over 2 years since I contacted the original Vendor, about offering an OPTiONAL Lifetime Upgrades Protection, and paying perhaps an extra 50% or thereabouts for the benefits it offers.

Such an Option offers Benefits for Both the Vendor and the User:

The USER only has to pay once & never again (unless there are some really exceptional circumstances)

For the VENDOR:

1. it essentially locks in a guaranteed user base, so You don't loose a percentage of Customers, who prefer to go elsewhere or just figure they can live without the latest version, just because they don't want to put their hand in their pocket for more upgrades.

2. gets an immediate & upfront increase in revenue, by comparison with A: what income they'd normally expect, or, B. from the diminishing returns of people who choose to upgrade, OR NOT, which can be spent on further development or promotion etc.

I have contacted some Vendors a while after they introduced such options & and I wont disclose exactly what they said, but lets just say it wasn't it was an option worth offering to buyer's.

_*_ I downloaded SP and then added site passwords. I then updated a sites password and SP did not offer to update the password. I had to go into SP and update it manually. I am not sure if I am missing something or if this is the way it is intended to operate.

Sticky Password Team @ michael vanier - this is a perpetual PRO license, good until you decide to upgrade to a newer version, which usually comes in 12-16 months. Meaning that you can use this as long as you want, however keep in mind, that it is not possible to support all new browsers, applications, operating systems forever in the older versions. Plus people usually want their personal data stored in a place which is really up to date and works with all the newest technology.

A New version coming already and v6 isn't even 1 year old yet (& I only bought in late last year)

I read @J S's comment and I think I have seen some other vendors who have begun to offer such optional lifetime protections: Artenscience.com's R10Cipher (where I think I saw Steve mention somebody suggested the original idea), and I know I have bought Outertech's Cacheman 7 program since they started offering the optional upgrade protection.

Personally I'm an Senior Citizen on a fixed income and I for one would have been prepared to pay an extra amount, if it meant that I would never have to pay again. Now that I've already purchased a Sticky License I'd still be prepared to pay a premium if it was priced right.

I hope you dont mind me sharing my thoughts about @J S's idea

rodken I am amazed you (Lamantine) extended this give away, shows how generous you are!
One thing I do feel is that there are customers here that wonder (and have said so) why it is they have paid for your great software when you keep giving it away.
I just have a suggestion that you give your loyal paying customers a special discount on future versions, and maybe more like the ability of use on extra devices for their subscription.
I would advise (as I'm sure you already know) not to ever give lifetime upgrades as that is just bad business practice and any developer that does such things either goes out of business or has to change their software/business name later on and then no one then wins.
Just saying.
You are obviously a caring company and are interested in your customers opinions, very nice change to those of them who just ignore anyones comments on here!!!

HennyPenny Total disaster here - upgraded from v5 to v6 and all but 2 of my stored passwords disappeared. And what has happened to Accounts, Add, Secure Memos, Manage Database, Settings, etc? I have nothing I recognize, or can use. Even remembering my BdJ login and password has taken me over an hour. but there's no guarantee I can do that the next time I want to pay a bill on line.

I have a whole series of backups, but can't associate any of them with stpass. What to do?

Well why? I can name a few such as Ad Muncher or UltraEdit that sell lifetime upgrades and I don't think they are anywhere going out of business soon. I think that when one has a nice piece of software and thrive to maintain its development and priced it right, there is a market for this type of niche.

Sticky Password Team @ Azure Sea - I suppose we understand your worry and to be absolutely honest, nothing is 100% fail proof - if somebody claims this, then he is lying:-) The goal of the program is to help create, organize, encrypt, store and manage passwords and other sensitive data so you do not leave these unprotected on your PC or in the Cloud or on USB and also that you can (as you should) have tons of different passwords, not just one. Our entire application is developed for exactly these purposes but also enables you to create encrypted backup of the entire database, should anything happen. It should not, but as I mentioned in the beginning - stranger things have happened in computers:-)
This said - it is safe to argue in our humble opinion, that you are much better off with protected passwords in an encrypted database, than having them written on sticky notes or in Excel. If for any strange reason an application that stores your passwords crashes, you will not be a target of identity theft, but you will have to go through resetting your passwords. Much better, than having all your passwords stolen from under your fingertips.
Hope this helps to put your mind at ease at least a little bit!

Caminemos Juntos Hello, I installed the Software (thank you very much for the 100% off)
because of the positive user comments, although I am using Keepass for the last 6 years as my favorite Password-program.
My Feedback:
-Installation completed easy and without surprises.
-Migration from IE, FF and KeePass worked very well.
-I do like the possibility to create encrypted Notes as I used Sticky Password, to store all my Software licenses.
-Overall impression with the first login tests on some websites is also very good!

I can highly recommend this software and I will use it now as my main Password-Manager.

One question to the developers: Will the PaleMoon browser be included soon, as promised back in 2011 on the StickyPassword-Forum ? The code is almost the same as in FF, but I did not find a way to install the plugin.
