What are people saying about Story & Character Development Bundle

_*_ Mariner has a 50% off sale two or so times a year. I am unsure if there is a reason for not offering this at 50% off? It would be nice to know.

Mariner Software Those are annual _direct_ promotions.

Jan Drbohlav I would like to buy it, really, but redirecting to PayPal account doesn't work (browsers Opera and Firefox) :(

Constantin Florea @Jan Drbohlav, We are aware of the issue unfortunately we do not have a solution for it. We encountered it a few times while testing the PayPal purchase flow for different products. We've seen this happening in other sites as well: sometimes the redirect works and in rare occasions it doesn't.

Here are a few suggestions:
- please try other browsers like IE or Chrome
- please try clearing the browser cache and cookies on the browser you're using and try going through the purchase flow again.

Jan Drbohlav @Constantin Florea I don't know why, but everything seems OK, now. :)

Joseph Dager The website shows the SSL certificate expired, and there seems to be a lot of choices to download the trial? Very confusing and makes someone uncomfortable with payment. Does BitsDuJour check things out before listing? Is this a reputable supplier?

Mariner Software Joseph-
Sorry about that. We just received word of this too and oddly, the SSL certificate has NOT expired. Our web group is working on correcting this issue now with the ISP. Feel free to order through a different browser if you would prefer.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Patrick Yancey I've used this software for nearly a year now and it's great. It provides the framework for character development that makes writing quite easy and enjoyable, even for a novice.

Louis H Any upcoming discounts for Contour by itself? I missed the great deal offered back in Dec via the Vendor. I have Persona. Thanks.

Mariner Software Development ended on WinJournal a few years back.

Alexander Deliyannis I see that Contour is now on version 2 for Mac, with the Windows version expected within 2017. The promotion however is for version 1, both in Mac and Windows. What is the upgrade policy thereon?

Aug 24 2017 at 12:41pm Copy Link

Constantin Florea @Alexander Deliyannis, I am sorry about the confusion. For discounted promotions we must sell the latest version of the product which is present on the product website. Version 1 was sold the last time we ran the promotion and it seems we missed updating the version number in time for this promotion.

I have just asked the vendor to help clarify the latest version numbers as well as the upgrade policy which is specified in "The Fine Print" tab.

I removed the version number until it is cleared.

BitsDuJour Admin - Aug 24 2017 at 2:49pm Copy Link

Constantin Florea @Alexander Deliyannis, The vendor replied:
"
The current promotion includes the following:

Story & Character Development Bundle (Mac) includes:
-Contour 2
-Persona 1
(Both are the most current version)

Story & Character Development Bundle (Win) includes:
-Contour 1
-Persona 1
(Both are the most current version)
"

The vendor also wrote:
"We are working on Contour 2 for Win and we are shooting for a release late this year, but most likely Q1 next year. If we release this version 90 days before a customer orders Contour 1 for Win, they will get Contour 2 for Win for free."

Bob Bacle You are offering Persona 1 & Contour 1 and yet on your website it says that Contour 2 is supposed to be coming out this year.
Will buying this allow me to upgrade to the latest version(s) and for how long will I be able to upgrade?
Will there be a cost for an upgrade or will it be included in the price?

Aug 25 2018 at 7:36am Copy Link

Mariner Software Hi Bob-
I believe the web site is a little optimistic on the release of Contour 2 for Win. I would guess more like Q2 of 2019. There are two other pressing upgrades before Contour. If 2.0 is out within 90 of a purchase of 1.0, we give the upgrade for free but again, I see a less than 10% shot of 2.0 shipping this year.

Mariner Software, Inc. - Aug 25 2018 at 10:54am Copy Link

Bob Bacle That is not good then. If I purchase Contour 1.0 now and have to wait until next year for Contour 2.0, what would be the upgrade price?

Aug 25 2018 at 1:39pm Copy Link

Mariner Software $19.95

Mariner Software, Inc. - Aug 25 2018 at 2:12pm Copy Link

Bob Bacle OK...after reading a little bit more, is this software for novel authors or just for screenwriters?

Aug 25 2018 at 2:58pm Copy Link

Mariner Software Contour and Persona are geared toward feature length films but the concepts applies to just about any kind of story, including novels. We have customers using the Contour and Persona systems with screenplays, sitcoms, novels, the whole gamut.
