Jeff Coleman Downloaded this application from Bits Du Jour and Anvsoft. In both occurrences Norton 360 Premium returned the following error :" This Application / file has been deleted . Spyware detected ESurveiller ".
Norton did provide the option to download the questionable file to Norton's web site which I did. Is this something that Anvsoft is aware of ? Can Anvsoft assure its customers that this is a false positive? I will not make a decision on the product until Anvsoft responds.
Thanks,
JC

internet explorer It may not be the type of spyware you're used to, but I'd say it fits the category of spyware because of what it is capable of doing. On the other hand, Norton 360 seems arrogant to delete it outright instead of simply temporarily blocking it to bring it to your attention at which point you can decide to proceed, delete, quarantine or whatever. That's how my ZoneAlarm Extreme Security approaches it anyway.

Michael Johnsson Hummmm

Comodo Firewall and Panda Cloud Antivirus killed this software quite good.

I have used simular software without problem. This pop a questions in my mind, why do they react on this one, and not the others.

Uninstalled to be on safe side.

Gabriel Zastawnik To anyone that has problems with antivirus programs: it is obvoius that such software may be detected as spyware or even a virus. But every antyvirus has the option to set up "white list" which is a list of trusted programs. So if you want to install this software just disable your antyvirus system for a while, install SAPC and then configure your antyvirus properly.
If you dont want to disable your antyvirus and it does not allow you to download SAPC then add their website to trusted websites list and it will allow to download the program.

naveed I'm curious as to why the developer hasn't yet responded to the virus alert issues reported by multiple users and anti-virus software. It's not confidence inspiring.

Gabriel Zastawnik To oberz3 b: yes. I know that putting any program on secure list of your antyvirus is not wise, but if you know the program it is sometimes very good idea. But if someone wants to instal monitoring program that uses advanced rootkit techniques and has antyvirus installed it is obvoius that antyvirus program will scream "watch out! theres is a roootkit!". It is his job. If you want to install monitoring program (spying program) you have to configure your system properly. That is obvious.

naveed @Gabriel Zastawnik. Not necessarily, it depends on the alert. If the alert is a general warning of specific hooks, you are completely right. If the alert is for specific viruses/trojans, then, I'd be worried.

DiggerP @ Gabriel Zastawnik,

Thanks for your excellent and common sense comments.
It always amazes me how people trust their AV programs so completely. All of them will list false positives lots of times and some can wreak total havoc on your system.
People should do a search on how even the bigger companies have had virus definition updates that would crash the system or not even let you boot up.
AVG,McAfee ,Norton and even MSE.

To others:
In this case ,check the file on VirusTotal or otherwise run it sandboxed or learn how set your AV program how to exclude the file or installation folder from being scanned.
Among some of the main causes of file download failure or file execution are improper AV settings.
The wrong settings are: Immediate file deletion ,rather than use the practical approach of File Rename or Quarantine.
The latter will allow you to save the file and deal with it by declaring it "safe" after you've done a comparative scan on eg. VirusTotal .
Even so, most of these type programs cause a "hissy fit" from AV programs and do require a bit of elevated insight into AV protection behavior and system knowledge.
If one doesn't know ,one can learn.
If one is not prepared to adjust those settings ,programs like this
shouldn't be used since they require a bit more insight into the system than the average computer user seems to possess.

Anvsoft Support @S R, @Jeff Coleman, @Tom G, @Robert Rodenberg, @Michael Johnsson, @oberz3 b, @all folks having the same issue-

Actually, Surveilstar is OK with most mainstream computer protecting software including anti-virus products according to our regular testing results. Also, we will regularly upload files to anti-virus software developers to gain certification. So, Surveilstar won't do harm to your computers. You can total rest your hearts and add it into "white list" if you get a warn.

Besides, the giveaway version (pro. version) is a new release, I think maybe it is too new to be recognized by Norton and other anti-virus software. And if you want to have a full surveillance of your computers, I will strongly recommend you to take a free trail of Surveilstar enterprise edition which is a mature and powerful tool for monitoring. BTW, we now offer an exclusive discount for every giveaway users and the code can be gained via support@surveilstar.com.

Please do not hesitate to contact our support team if you have any questions!

DiggerP @ Beth P
I know it's really up to the vendor Yalita Zou to tell you, but ignore the
McAfee warning and just get the software.
These idiotic (my words) add-ons ,like Site Advisor and WOT and cohorts, are a real pain and are wrong most of the time.
Apart from that ,they cause untold misery for legitimate sites that they blacklist and are extremely slow in correcting their mistakes.
There have been many cases that took 6 months to be corrected.
In the mean time the affected vendors lose business.
Do you think the vendors of the socalled "security" programs care?
There's no money out of their pocket.

In addition ,these site scanners can cause major browser slowdowns or crashes . (Just check Mozilla -Firefox history and others. Mozilla at one time even blacklisted the McAfee Site Advisor add-on because of major crashes to FF)
The same can be said for other browsers.

So "white-list" surveilstar.com and get the program. :)
