Nelson Carvalho Hi,
Sorry my English.
I have Swift To-Do List 7 Ultimate 1-user-3-PC-Pack license.
I'm very pleased with the software. I would like to update it.
Could you make an offer for the update: Swift To-Do List Ultimate 1-user-3 PC-Pack?
Thank you.

Could we have some sample chapter of the ebook?
Thanks!

DroidLuvr Hi, Jiri:

I have a 1-PC Swift To-Do List Professional 8 and I just accepted an email offer from you this past week and purchased your new book!! I also purchased the 3-PC TreeNotes offered yesterday after your reply to my questions about how it would integrate.... I am obviously pretty well stocked with your offerings!! [I also have your Outlook Backup Assistant :) and love it too... That speaks for itself as to how much I appreciate and recommend your software!!!

The last piece of the package I'd love to have, though, is a 1-PC upgrade from Pro8 to to Ultimate -- mostly for the features to come in the future :-)

Given these recent purchases, I can't really afford the full $60 upgrade price right now, so I was hoping you might be able to offer me a BDJ special for a single upgrade??

Thanks in advance!! You and your software rock!!!

Dextronet Hi DroidLuvr!

This BitsDuJour promotion is best for new customers.

You can upgrade your existing v8 Pro 1-user-3-PC-Pack license ($134.95 value) to v8 Ultimate 1-user-3-PC-Pack ($199.95 value) for just the price difference of $65. That's the best deal you can get right now. If you want, send me an email, and I will give you the Ultimate upgrade for 60 days for free, so you can see how you like it.

DroidLuvr @Jiri: thanks for that offer, but I only currently have the 1-PC license. I'd sure take the 3-PC ultimate for $65, but I don't think that's what you had in mind... ;) ;) I'm just looking for the 1-PC Pro to Ultimate!! I'm sending you an email with my registration info, so we can take this out of the main comments here, though...

One more time though (from a very satisfied user and long-time BDJ customer - not affiliated with the dev in any way) -- is anyone new to this program and can't decide??? DON'T HESITATE!!

#1 reason - awesome software and awesome developer = awesome support!! Not only that, but with such a great refund policy, you aren't taking any risks. I can see why Jiri offers such a great policy, too - if you have need of any organizational software, you will absolutely love this, and you definitely won't want a refund!!! Great for that New Year's resolution about getting organized :)

Karl M. Since this is a quite high priced to-do list software I want to know what are the advantages of this software over similar but much lower in price to-do list software?

Is it in any way usable with Mark Forster's (http://markforster.net/) time management system?

How does Swift To-Do List help especially against procrastination?

Roberto I want to add something.

In January last year, I updated swift and i had an issue (with an installed font in my system). I wrote to Jiri and one hour and half later, he wrote an update patch for me.

On another occasion, i suggested him a feature, and the next day he released another version with the feature.

Great Jiri! :-)

Dextronet Karl: For general information, check out our website, it explains quite a lot, including why it is the best to-do list software with unique killer features: http://www.dextronet.com/...t-software

Regarding procrastination: Swift To-Do List has several features to beat it:

First, it has inbuilt timer. How to use it is here: http://www.dextronet.com/...o-do-list/

Second, it supports subtasks, which also help. See here how: http://www.dextronet.com/...e/subtasks

Third, the ebook Swift Mind Freedom explains several principles that greatly help reduce procrastination.

I've read all Mark Forster's books, and ideas from them are incorporated into the Swift Mind Freedom e-book. It is compatible with his work. I have to admit I have not yet studied his "Autofocus" system thoroughly (there is no book on it yet), but since Swift To-Do List is flexible, you will probably be able to use it. However, I think that my Swift Mind Freedom system is so practical that you won't need anything else.

Brian Turner I can only reaffirm the comments above re customer service. Amazingly good! In fact I don't think I've come across better.

A couple of tiny tiny things.
1) IMHO it'd be good if when you open the calendar, and have a to do selected for that date, if it were somehow marked (e.g. bold) so you could see where you have a calendared due to do
2) Is it possible to change the default so that when you have the calendar open, and you are scrolling thru the folders in the vertical menu that the tasks for each list are dispalyed, at the moment they are hidden.
3) After you've enetred tasks in a list, is it possible to set up the numbering system retroactivewly?

Dextronet Roberto: Thank you!!!

Brian: Thanks for your kind words and feature suggestions.

1) Making the selected date bold in the calendar is an interesting idea, I will write it down and look into it.

2) To not make things complicated, when the calendar panel is open, it is always filtering the view. If you want to see all the tasks, you can close it with one click; then re-open it when you need it again.

3) Yes, definitely. With Ultimate, the numbering is just a checkbox in the Add/Edit To-Do List window, and you can enable/disable it for any to-do list at any point.

Noggin The Nog I wonder whether I need the single licence or the 3 pack. My only use of any other machine is as a 'backup' of my hardware, so that I might restore an image file backup to another machine so that I have something to fall back on in case my first machine packs up. Do I really need to have 3 licences or the '3 pack' for this purpose? I can only use one machine at a time!

Brian Turner But Jiri re No 2 and 3
a) Is there a setting so when I am quickly going thru tasks in the folder lists, they are not hidden ? Without having to turn the calenadr on or off (I'm lazy) A toggle key of some kind? Can shortcut keys be set ?
b) I tried this. First entering tasks, but then thought I'd like to have them numbered. It does not seem to do this retroactively? You have to decide in the beginning, don't you?

Maybe I will finally get TOTAL control of all my To-dos!

Noggin The Nog Thanks Jiri.

I actively use the software on only one computer at a time, and also would rarely boot any but the one at my office desk. But I might boot a spare machine in order to check that I have successfully restored a backup, or if my other machine is out of action. I suppose the question is what constitutes active use, and what would appear to be a violation of a single licence.

Finally, I have one more resource for you - I wrote a very thorough summary of the book The Now Habit on our blog: http://www.dextronet.com/...t-summary/ (It's one of the best books on procrastination).

H. H Hallo,
there has been a link posted to the upbgrade page. Am I´m right, that upgrading from version 6 to version 8 ultimate (1user, 1PC) is still more expensive (119$+ 19$ for ebook) for current customers than for new customers buying the swifttodolist from bitsdujour today? (109$) - Or is there any bitsdujour discount for upgrading for current customers too?
thank you for replying before offer has ended in advance

Frank Stephens My experience with Dextronet has been different. Swift To-Do List is their primary product, and it's just a super-expensive to-do list. Things that should be simple updates or upgrades to the current version get moved into ever-pricier new versions. Multi-platform support is required these days. Dextronet says that mobile apps are coming to v8, but I'll wait. It will probably be part of some even pricier super-duper ultimate version, or require additional expensive license fees. Most developers would work on new products to generate new revenue streams. For scheduling and such, you have endless options. For lists, you can create documents within Google Drive. You have to learn or figure out how to use it, but it's smart. You can create multiple lists with headers, with their own sublists. It will number/label them automatically (customizable), renumber/relabel as required to handle additions, insertions, deletions, etc., without requiring the user to do anything.
Jan 14 2013 at 8:11pm Copy Link
0
Dextronet H. H: Yes, that's correct.

Frank: Thanks for your opinion. Instead of adding just more low-quality software "noise" to the software world, we prefer to keep improving Swift To-Do List. The 8 years of our continual development shows. All upgrades are always optional, whether paid or not. I guess that Swift To-Do List might just not a good match for you, if you can do with Google Drive. However, not everyone would enjoy using spreadsheets for task management, especially if they have hundreds of tasks, ideas, reminders, files and notes. And most people do, even when they might not realize it yet - that's where the new e-book helps.

I did a fairly lengthy trial of it before the bdj purchase. It is definitely hands down much better than its competition. It's well worth the full price, but since I saw it was coming up on bdj I just held off a while on pulling the trigger. :)

Frank Stephens Jiri Novotny, I didn't respond earlier so as not to impact your sales. I was objecting to the business model which you started after version 6. Instead of just having the usual new version number with enough added features to entice people to upgrade, you chose to additionally force users to buy new editions (Professional, Ultimate, etc.) to get new features. My reference was to Google Documents within Google Drive for things like lists. Very smart, simple, automatically saved in the cloud and multi-platform, etc. For projects and tasks and such, there are tons of options. I like Effexis software and products, which I bought here for less than you're charging, licensed per user, not computer, etc. Effexis Achieve Planner is vastly better than Swift To-Do List for projects, tasks, and more. It has extensive synchronization with Google Calendar so that you have access to your tasks, etc., on other platforms. They have lots of courseware, I bought their Get Focused course, which not only included ebooks, but videos, audio, PDF slides, etc. I think that you've lost sight of your market.
Jan 15 2013 at 11:43pm Copy Link
0
Dextronet Mark: Thanks for your support!

Frank: Thank you for your insights and perspective.

Regarding our business model - please realize that we are serving a niche market. Our software is not a mainstream product. It is for a specific audience, who wants the best possible task/notes management software for Windows, and prefers intuitive and easy to use software. Most of our customers don't want to spend more time managing their tasks than actually doing them.

We definitely DON'T force our customers to upgrade to higher editions, or to new major versions. All upgrades are always optional. If you want to upgrade, you can (an for a good price), and if not, that's OK too.

Even in the hundreds of free 6.xx, 7.xx and 8.xx minor updates, we've added literally hundreds of new features, into all editions.

I'm aware of Achieve Planner, but I don't think it's really comparable with Swift To-Do List. It serves a different market and purpose than we do. Achieve Planner is great for the old-school planning and traditional simplified project management and scheduling, but it also has a very steep learning curve, and is not as easy to use as Swift To-Do List. Swift To-Do List is much more task-centric, for people who want (or need to be) flexible. Many of our customers think of the traditional schedules as a thing of the past. That being said, we still plan to add full-blown scheduling support into Swift To-Do List, since we've already pretty much perfected the task-management aspect, which is the most important for us.

I have to admit that I've not purchased the time management course from the author of Achieve Planner, so I can't comment on its actual contents. But from studying the sales page, it seems that it comes with 6 modules, and you have to buy each one separately. The first module costs $19.95, for the rest, I didn't manage to find the prices. For that price, you can get the complete Swift Mind Freedom method. However, I also think that the price is not the point at all - I think many people would gladly pay even ten times that if the system could *really* help them change their life for the better - and that is my most important aim with Swift Mind Freedom. I've put a lot of effort into making it as easy and simple as possible, but still capable of providing you with fast and profound results. I've specifically designed each of the 11 principles so it leads you to action, and shows you exactly how to apply it with Swift To-Do List.

Sync with Google calendar is something we would like to implement as well, after we add the support for detailed scheduling.

I can appreciate that if you don't mind the steep learning curve of Achieve Planner, and prefer the traditional planning and scheduling approaches - so it's a good fit for you. And that's great - we definitely can't please everyone. If we tried, we wouldn't please anyone in the end. We simply stand for what we stand for - simplicity, ease of use, and fast profound results. Yes, our prices are higher, but we also deliver higher value in many areas.

Admittedly, we currently lag a bit in the sync/mobile/collaboration area, but that will change this year, as it is now our top priority.

Again, thanks.

Nick Kobe Karl, wait for EssentialPIM Pro for PC at $59.96. Comes with lifetime license (free updates/upgrades) for life and two computers. I have Swift To-Do List 8 Professional and EssentialPIM Pro. The cost of the upgrades for Swift-To-Do List 8 Professional and single computer will kill you even at 50% off ($64.50). At that price you could buy another license for Essential PIM Pro for two additional computers! However, I like Swift-To-Do, but it is over priced. EssentialPIM isn't exactly the same as Swift-To-Do Pro in what the later will do but by the same token it does a great deal more. So, I no longer use Swift-To-Do and switched to EssentialPM which I like even better.

Nick, thanks for your recommendation. I know EssentialPIM, but it is a PIM. Can it be used as an excellent To-do List/Task Manager?

Most Task Managers are much to complicated for procrastinators like me.

Right now I'm using Evernote as To-do List/Task Manager. It was recommended by Mark Forster in combination with his latest system "Final Version" because of it's simplicity.

Nick Kobe Hi Karl!

Yes, it is a PIM and one of its attributes is a calendar function. However, it you only want to post a To-Do list you can do so. I use a calendar for both appointments and To-Do's. Frankly, there isn't much difference between the two. However, if you ONLY want a program that does To-DO lists and you have Excel you can download a template that does just that and nothing more. In addition, they have a simple version you might want to try. The website is http://office.microsoft.c...98033.aspx. Won't cost you a dime to either try it out or use it forever. Here is the website for EssentialPIM http://www.essentialpim.com/. Check it out!

H. H. Hallo,
trying dextronet swift todo list in comparison to some other task managers, I´ve to say that I was very disappointed
to miss some features, which other much cheaper or freely available task managers have already implmented
(in case the features are already implemented and I just didn´t figure them out, please apoligze and tell me) how to find them

1. a)The ability to create unlimited, sortable! custom columns with different values (e.g. text, numbers, decimal
numbers, timer, time, checkbox, icon (symbol),...)
- I really can´t understand how such an expensive piece of software
does not allow the user to create additional columns (I´m aware of the possibility of swift todo list to change the name of the predifend columns, but that´s not satisfying at all.
TaskManagers which already have implemented this feature are e.g. abstractspoon todolist and task unifier pro, Even the kind of selection (no list, dynamic , single or multiple choice of a list) can be choosen with that software.

b) of course it would be important for userdefined columns, that the ability to use/ assign custom colors (as ist possible for some predefined columns) would be available too.

2.a) the timer should also been shown as a special column (also already
implemented in the mentioned software),
because this allows a better overview

b) additionally it should be possible to start more than one timer parallel (e.g.
if one wants to track, how long a pc backup needs, and during this time
one make some telephone calls, meetings,..) and want to track
that time too. . Task Unifier already has the ability to start more than one
timer simuaneously.

3. It would be useful, if one could choose own icons (*.ico or *.png-files,
because the numnber of builtin icons of swift todo list is very limited and
does not fit for spedial needs at all.

4. The ability to choose to edit values in place (within the column instead of
having to open the "edit task" window with all entries would be time saving
- and is also already available in task unifer (pro).

5. (not as crucial as lfeatures from 1-4, but an additional improvement could be
choosable transparency of assigned colors)

Without the above mentioned crucial features the swift todo list does not really convince in comparison, especially regarding the high price. The perhaps better
fashioned interface is not a replacement for fundamental and advanced features.
Could the developer please tell, which of the suggested /requested features can be exspected to be implemented within the next time
and if this would be within version 8 or alrelady require an upgrade, one has to pay for

thank you for considering and replying in advance
H.H.

Dextronet Hi H.H.

Thanks for your opinion.

Swift To-Do List is a to-do list software, it's not a time tracker. That's just a convenient inbuilt bonus feature. That being said, we will definitely keep improving that part, just as we keep improving all other current features.

Our current #1 priority is the online sync feature and mobile apps (Android, iPhone, WP + tablets) - that's where 95% of our effort goes right now.

Regarding your ideas -

1) Ability to create your custom columns is planned. Swift To-Do List comes with 24 inbuilt columns that you can use, and you can even rename them (in Ultimate).

2) If our customers request it, we will consider implementing parallel timers. The "Time Spent" column shows you the total time spent tracked by timer.

3) Yes, this is planned (after the custom columns).

4) This is already possible. You can edit tasks in-place. Just select the task, then click inside the cell you want to edit. In Options, you can also enable single-click editing.

Cheers,
Jiri

H. H. Hallo, thank you for responding,
regarding your answers the following additional comments/qauestions

no 1) - having 24 Columns sounds good BUT looking closer there is very little possibility to freely customize (correct me if I´m wrong) As far as I can see, MAX 5 of 24 columns ALLOW CUSTOMIZATION with free decision if one wants to use text or numbers and to assign custom colours.
All other columns are either related to time or date or predefined e.g. just showing the todolist name or path (with no possibility to use the column for
other purposes - that´s by far not enough, there are other (freeware or cheap) task managers which allow to do this (and not just text or numbers, also symbols,....)

no 2)- asking for simultanoues time tracking is also related to task manager issues - it can be important to be aware, how much time special tasks need, in order
to make a better planning in the future (and other task managers e.g. task unifier or task coach (portable) allow parallel time-tracking),
and this software is also created as task manager and not as time tracking software
I´ll give you an simple example why parallel timers can be important. E.G.
when a person is cooking a meal - e.g. potatos (cooking 15min),
vegetables (20min) and meat(30 minutes) - the sequential addition would
lead to 15+20+30=55 minutes - but if a person begins cooking the
meat (30 min), 10 min later puts the vegetable on the oven (needing 20min)
and another 5 minutes later the potatoes (needing 15min), cooking
them simultaneously,
the complete meal is ready after 30 minutes (and not 55 min) - just an
example, in business issues many processes also
must / can be started parallely or overlapping - so multiple timers can be
really important

no 3) fine to read, that user choosable icons are on the todo list

no 4)- can you tell something regarding the question of my first posting
if the suggested/requested improvements
- (column customization including free colour assign
- user defined icons
- parallel timers -
can be exspected within version 8 updates or if they will require additional
payment for major upgrades.

thank you for clarifying in advance
H.H.

Dextronet Hi Fadi,

Swift Mind Freedom is an e-book + audio-book. It will teach you 11 simple but powerful principles, that when applied, will help you become better organized, in control, efficient, procrastinate less and get more done overall.

It also includes extensive problems & solutions and Q&A section - everything related to being organized, productivity, task management, etc.

It will really help you get maximum out of Swift To-Do List. But it's an optional part of this deal, you can remove it from the cart if you wish.

Dextronet Hi H.H,

Honestly, I don't know. For example, we might never have parallel timers unless our customers demand it - we try to keep the program as simple and efficient as possible, and stay away from complexity which benefits only small number of our customers (and makes the program less intuitive and harder to use for the rest).

It's possible that custom columns will be part of version 9, but it's too soon to tell yet. We are only at v8.05 right now, so there is a lot of free upgrades to be made yet as part of the 8.xx line.

D Rogers I bought the professional version, full price and have been using it daily for the last 8 months. I have customized it to do what I want, which is to keep track of the time I spend on each task during the day.

It is an attractive and intuitive program. I do wince each time I am reminded how much I spent on this though. I think the pricing, especially the ultimate version, is priced too high. That being said, it still is an excellent program which I would pay for again if needed.

FinePrint says 'This promotion can be used to upgrade or extend an existing license'.

Does that mean, that owners of a previous version, e.g. v7 Standard (my version), can get this offer for half of this price (i.e. about $37)? (EMail-Information for my Std-version says: 'Upgrade to Professional edition for HALF the price ($45 instead of $89.95')) This would be an additional motivation to buy now.

Will this SwiftMind eBook/Audio-book be adopted to v9 with it's new features be adopted to v9 and will it be included for today's buyers?

Another informational question: What I am especially am interested in is the android-mobile-synchronisation-feature, which will be included in v9.x. Are these mobile-apps for free for the owners of v9 or do they cost extra?

Dextronet For questions about upgrading, please either use the inbuilt contact form in Swift To-Do List (in Help menu). Or contact our support via email. That way we'll have information about your current license.

Michael, if I understand correctly, you basically want to use the 50% upgrade deal, then apply another 50% discount from this promotion? That's not gonna work.

For example if you have a single license for Swift To-Do List 7 Standard, upgrading to Swift To-Do List 8/9 Professional 1-user-3-PC Pack would normally cost you $104.95. However if you use this promotion, you can purchase a new license for Swift To-Do List 8/9 Professional 1-user-3-PC Pack for $100.92 AND you get the Swift Mind Freedom e-book/audiobook as a bonus ($39.95 standard price).

Dextronet Michael, sorry I didn't react to your whole post. The Swift Mind Freedom will always be relevant for Swift To-Do List users, no matter what version they're using. It's also possible we'll update it if we feel like it's getting outdated.

As for the mobile applications, we've not yet decided on that, mainly because we're unsure of the payment model and we like to focus on actually developing the app first. It'll likely be free at first, as is our online beta sync.

Michael R. Thanks for the answer. Yes this was my idea, indeed: 50% as the regular upgrade-price, I (probably) can redeem always and additional 43% for buying it now in this promotion.

So the sentence 'This promotion can be used to upgrade or extend an existing license' makes not really sense: who would upgrade an existing license, if he can also get a new (and this way a 2nd) license for the very same price...

So, this time I'll probably pass, but I keep watching your product and will check from time to time the price-model for the mobile devices, hoping they will be (and stay) free...

MojoMan Hi Jiri,

Three things which I've been looking / hoping for in an organization / task programs are:

1. Spreadsheet built-in. This would greatly simplify many tasks... so Hooray for Version 9.

2. Ability to capture webpages (Ultra-recall and a couple other PIM's do this).

3. Ability to capture scanned docs.

Any hope for either of these functions in the future ?

Right now you can import .HTML/.DOCX files. So you could display a print preview of the webpage and save it as a HTML file and then import it, the same goes for the docs and DOCX).

ddalian I am a little disappointed that the sync and web features that were already part of version 8.064 but never worked well or completely are now going to be part of a paid $99.95 upgrade to version 9 ultimate. One of my main reasons for purchasing the ultimate 3 pack was to be able to use the software on multiple connected devices without third party cloud services.
Two questions:
Will the sync feature include syncing attachments?
Will the sync feature be included in the cost of the upgrade or will there be an ongoing subscription fee to use it?
Thank you.

DroidLuvr I want to start by saying that I am in no way personally acquainted with, related, affiliated with, or being compensated in any way for this post. I have three different programs from Dextronet, though, and I wanted to share my great experience with my fellow Bitsters. I own TreeNotes, Outlook Backup Assistant, and the Ultimate version 8 of Swift being offered here (I've been a software-hoarding Bitster for quite some time, he he he, and since I always like to hear from satisfied customers when I am considering a purchase here, I just wanted to share my humble opinion! I hope this helps someone anyhow!...

So: if you are new to this program, my absolute recommendation is to GO for it at this price! While I do admit it seems a little high for a "to do list" program, I want to make it very clear that this is not like any other to-do software I've ever used, and I've been an I.T. Support Specialist for more than 20 years. I've pretty much used all of them back to the DOS days, and specifically including multiple versions of Outlook and the above-mentioned Ultra Recall Pro, I don't think it has to be a decision between these 3 as they really compliment each other very well :) I use Outlook (or Thunderbird) along with Ultra Recall for all of my long-term items to keep organized, such as archives of email, research, web pages, docs, scanned documents, etc. I then use Swift for all of my ongoing projects and to-do items! It keeps my current to-do's smaller and faster, while still being able to link to my more extensive databases from past items: the many choices for import and export work really well for this as there are many options for file types. I am looking forward to the spreadsheet upgrade features :) too.

I also want to mention the very generous 3-MONTH return policy; it was a very big selling feature to me when I first bought version 7! This is such a feature-rich, but not difficult, program that a quick one-day trial just really isn't enough to see all the options! (I really doubt very many people request a refund after giving this a good try, either!) I think other great free features include a frequently updated blog and newsletter option that are not only helpful but also motivational! Finally, there is the TRULY AMAZING support: I have never had an email go unanswered for more than 24 hours and usually closer to 2 or 3 hours!! I believe that kind of service and support is worth mentioning :)

My thanks to BDJ and Dextronet for today's offer: I will be definitely be upgrading again!

P.S. You can see that I'm just a happy user if you scroll back to the old comments from last January, too!

Coweko Alinac Why is this better than products like Wunderlist, Nozbe or Trello?
Jan 7 2014 at 4:38am Copy Link

Calin C that would be really interested to know. Wunderlist is not that nice, but Nzobe, Trello and others are very interested.

Mainly it today connected world, we need a to do list program that multiple users can run and we can assign to do tasks from one to another. A desktop application to do that would be really great as i am not a big fan of web tools. I thought that Swift to do can to it (assign tasks to other users in the group) that are remotely connected but it seems that it cant. In today world this is pretty important + the need to have the synced to do list on the mobile devices since lots of to do;s appear when you are on the go....At this price level it should have this features, as most other competing services are at around $5/user/month on unlimited devices and you could get around 15-20 month worth of service for the $75 (the price of the todays offer) when probably some other new and better services/applications will appear and you will change anyway...
Jan 7 2014 at 8:10am Copy Link
0
Dextronet Calin C, but Swift To-Do List is perfectly capable of syncing between multiple users, and you can assign tasks to different people too. Some features are still limited when syncing (attachments don't sync yet for example), but that's going to change in Swift To-Do List 9.

Native mobile apps for Android and iOS are coming in February. There is beta companion mobile web app available in the mean time.

If you need help setting up Swift To-Do List to sync between multiple users, please contact our support. You have to activate beta features in order for it to work.

As far as I know Trello and Nozbe aren't even desktop applications. Swift To-Do List is powerful, but still super-easy and fast to use. It offers a lot of customization. The tree structure allows you to have much more tasks in Swift To-Do List than the other not entirely desktops apps and still orientate yourself quicker.

Calin C thanks Jiri, just found the sync functions, they were hidden under the Beta features tab....this is good but also leads to other questions :)

- is there any money back guarantee if the sync will not work as expected in February ?

- i understand that you plan to charge for sync, do you have any ideea on the price range ? With vast majority of competing solutions you pay aprox 5$/month/user and you can use the service on unlimited number of devices and plaform for that user, all in good sync. I am talking about competitors that have also Windows clients. With Switch to-do, you have to pay $139 for 3 devices for 1 user (witch is not cheap) and then you also have to pay for the sync service. If you have 3-4 users, you end up paying $500-600 usd for the software upfront and then an x amount per month to sync the 3-4 users. If the amount is 4-5$/month per user then the service will be at about the same price as competing ones, only that you have to shell out $5-600 for the windows application vs others that give it for free.

I am not trying to put out only the negative facts, but just wanted to better understand how this will work, as sync is mandatory nowdays and we need to install a 3-4 people solution this days.. Thanks
Jan 7 2014 at 1:41pm Copy Link

Dextronet Calin C, we have a 90 day unconditional money back guarantee (that covers February).

We're not yet ready to talk about pricing. It will be free at first, there will be an optional subscription for people that want to use sync. Perhaps there will even be an option to subscribe without purchasing Swift To-Do List (of course people who buy Swift To-Do List won't come off short). We still have time to come up with the most suitable pricing model for us, right now we focus on finishing the features.

Dextronet 1 license is for 1 user and 1 computer, unless you take advantage of the 1-User-3-PC Pack that costs like 1 and a half license.

There are 2 ways how you can sync a database between multiple computers. Either use a solution like Dropbox or SkyDrive which allow a single user to sync his database between computers. Or you can use our inbuilt sync solution, which allows you to sync a database between multiple computers or even multiple users, it also provides web and mobile access.

You can't simply open a single database from multiple instances without using our sync solution.

VLM Thanks Jiri. Can the built-in cloud solution be used or configured in such a way as to limit it to the LAN environment?

Too bad about the ribbon interface; so many people regard this as a big step backward. (I mean in UI design in general, not your product specifically.)
Jun 24 2014 at 11:55am Copy Link

Dextronet Alexandre, the cloud sync is currently free and it will be for quite some time. We will probably switch on a subscription based model in the future, it will also mean that major upgrades will be free.

To activate the sync (necessary for the mobile app), go to menu File - Advanced - Enable Beta Features (Sync), there will be a new Sync menu in your ribbon with detailed guide. You can also contact our support for more detailed instructions.

VLM, you can't limit the cloud solution to LAN environment, it needs to connect to our secure cloud storage. We eventually will add a LAN solution, but it won't be anytime soon.

Personally, I see well-done ribbons as a step forward, there was a lot of research done before Microsoft software changed to the new UI design. With the Swift To-Do List ribbon the previous shortcuts still work, so power-users won't notice a difference and it's easier to find features for the newcomers.

Iam Private I use Swift TD 8 Ultimate, but simply will not upgrade. The reason: unfair pricing. I purchased Swift TD 7 and then paid for the upgrade to Swift TD 8. So, I paid twice (which is ok since I upgraded). Now, I find that my upgrade cost from Swift TD 8 Ultimate to Swift TD 9 Ultimate is the same as someone else updating from Swift TD 7 to Swift TD9. The company is ignoring the fact that I've already paid more than someone upgrading Swift TD 7, and it is not giving me a better price for my prior additional payments and upgrading loyalty. The only way I can impact a company (albeit) in a very small way) is to vote with my wallet. So, just know that there is an issue with the company's upgrade pricing for loyal customers and bear that in mind when considering a purchase.

Over the years, I have checked out most of the time management products offered here, but I always come back to Swift-To-Do. Ennovy Version 9 was released almost 2 years ago.
Are there any plans for a new version 10 and what are the new features?
Do I have to pay for the new version when it is released or is this a free update?

Dextronet Hello. We currently have no plans for version 10. We're still making improvements and plan to add a couple features in the future but so far we have decided to release them as minor updates (which are free).

The major upgrade to version 10 would be paid, but it's nowhere near and it would of course be optional.

Rich N Have used Swift To-Do List Home 8 for the past couple of years and as a journalist who works from home, do not hesitate to recommend it. It has allowed me to be organised like never before both in terms of my work and domestically and I use it to plan my working, fitness and domestic jobs lists for the day, week, month. There are times when I have thought “I wish it could do that” and a quick email to Jiri and John always receives a reply, generally to tell me that the functionality I crave is already built in.

No, it’s certainly not cheap, but has proved value for money to me and I will be upgrading from Swift TdL8 Home to TdL9 Pro today.

The only thing Jiri has yet to solve, I believe, is the ability to sync between devices, but this can be achieved by locating a specific program file and moving it to Dropbox or equivalent. True synchronisation will surely come one day.

Two questions to Jiri:

(i) If I upgrade from Home 8 to Pro 9, do I need to uninstall my original program?

(ii) If I upgrade to Pro 9 today and, as is likely, four months down the line install Windows 10 Pro over the top of my current Windows 7 Pro (64-bit), do you foresee any complications/issues?

Dextronet Rich,

(i) No, you don't need to uninstall version 8.

(ii) A lot of users are already using STDL on W10, so there shouldn't be any issues.

As for the sync between devices - in version 9, there is a Sync solution available that allows you to sync STDL between multiple computers, and use Android, iOS and web companion apps.

Dextronet Hariharasudhan, 1 license is for 1 user and 1 computer (unless it's the 1-User-3-PC Pack). If you wish to use STDL on multiple computers, 1-User-3-PC Pack is the best option.

Dextronet disenchanted, there were 3 editions. The Home (formerly Standard), Professional, and Ultimate.

Since we changed our payment model to subscriptions, everyone gets the highest edition (all features). It makes things simpler and it's a better deal.

The Ultimate 1-User-3-PC Pack was priced at $199.95, while the Personal subscription allows you to install STDL (Ultimate) on an unlimited number of computers at $99 base price.

Noggin The Nog Thanks for the offer.

I am a bit confused about it, however. I refer to the offer for a licence for 1 user.

It is advertised as Swift To-Do List 10 and productivity guide, reduced from $99 to $49.50, which is consistent with the Dextronet website, which offers the same at $99, albeit without making clear, as I assume is the case with the licence purchased there, that the software can be used on any number of machines, use being restricted only in respect of the number of licensed users, and without making clear what the productivity guide is in terms of what is offered on the Dextronet website.

Also, the licence offered is also referred to above as follows: "The license includes lifetime Swift To-Do List 10 Ultimate ....($199.95 value) ....". Is there more than one version, or is Swift To-Do List the same as Swift To-Do List Ultimate? And from what is the $199.95 derived, if the two different names refer to the same product and the full price of a licence for one licence (which I presume means a licence for one user) is $99?
Apr 8 2017 at 11:38am Copy Link

Dextronet The deal clearly says Swift To-Do List (1 user) + Swift Mind Freedom eBook/Audiobook (PDF+MP3). The STDL price is reduced from $99 to $49.5. With the addition of SMF the price is $69.45.

There used to be the Home ($49.95), Professional ($89.95) and Ultimate ($195.95) editions. Since we changed to the subscription model, the lesser editions aren't being sold anymore. The subscription always comes with the highest edition (which was previously priced at $195.95).

The subscription is annual ($49.5/year when you get it during this promotion).

We only have iOS and Android mobile apps. However the web app allows you to access your STDL cloud database from any device with a web browser. It's available from the Sync menu.

Dextronet HJ B, yes as a single user you can install STDL on an unlimited number of computers and mobile devices. The price of the plan is annual, so unless you cancel the auto-renewal via menu Sync - Manage Sync, you'll be charged the same amount next year.

Michael, (1) You can cancel the auto-renewal anytime. (2) There is no reason not to activate the subscription now, as it runs from the time of your order. (3) The Secure Sync service is hosted on the Microsoft Azure infrastructure. All servers are hosted in a secure data-centers with strict security policies. All data transfers between servers and communication between you and the sync server are secured and encrypted (SSL/HTTPS) with 128-bit encryption. Tetsuya User This swift to-do list has that feature, 2-way sync among different PC, iOS, Android device. However, $99 is required EVERY year for software update AND syncing. That means you can use this sync feature just for 1 year, then you must pay another $99 after every 1 year if you just need cloud syncing. That seems too expensive for personal use. I think this software itself is well-made. I'll buy it if there are some cheeper annual fee just for syncing.

Dextronet Tetsuya, I am sorry to hear the renewal is too expensive. It's important to note, that the cloud sync requires you to have access to the latest version of our software. It would be virtually impossible for us to maintain a backwards compatibility with many different old versions. E.g. Microsoft did such a thing for some of its software but there was an absolutely enormous effort and money spent on it. The yearly fee includes free access to both updates and upgrades which used to be paid. If you were a user of our former Ultimate edition, with the yearly subscription you'd actually be saving money.

Ed Ward Swift To-Do annual subscription price is prohibitive. Users must pay $99/year to access full functionality across devices. Program is thoughtful, well-designed and useful. I purchased and used for a year. However, $99/year makes it the most expensive software by far of any program (short of MS Office) that I use. Unfortunately, I'm passing on renewal as the $99 for yearly upgrade is simply too expense.

Charles Beauchamp Thank you for your very prompt response.

I can see where the notes and memo fields could be leveraged with Emeditor text editing with hyperlinks to very large Emeditor controlled files to increase the utility of your "lighteight CRM".

Some questions:

1) what are the limits for the note and memo size limits?

2) Are there options for the multiuser version of Swift Mind to operate ACROSS the Internet on the same Swift Mind project?

3) Where can very large Emeditor files be stored and accessed across the internet using hyperlinks that collaborators at different sites can access and create cooperatively?

If the above is possible then the following is possible:

multiuser Swift Mind project accessed on the internet ---> Local creation of Emeditor files ----> access to AI enabled files as in the Common Lisp programmed Gruff Browser and in prolog enabled programs produced with LPA prolog

the above combined induction and deduction reasoning capabilities would be a boon to Community-centered Primary Care IF feasible using notes and memos with hyperlinks to LOCAL Emeditor files that in turn have Common Lisp and Prolog programmatic links driven by Emeditor macros.

Possible or not possible with version 11?

Mariusz Lewandowski Downloaded the trial, looks impressive. Unfortunately, I cannot enter small Polish "c" letter (Alt+c) in memos, which makes the program useless for Polish clients. All hotkeys turned off. Pls advise.

EDIT a bit later --> "Alt+c" that is crucial for Polish users does not work in the spreadsheet, too.

Is there any setting to enable "Alt+c" in this app?

Bruce Tyler Can we network with this software? 2 users (possible three) need to share information. Very interested -- just need to know if the data is networked or simply synced. If synced, are files that are being accessed by one user locked so another user cannot create a conflict?

Thanks for your help!

major4579 I've used Swift To-Do list for many years but I stopped upgrading at version 9. The PC version is really great, but it's incomplete without an equally great android version and that doesn't exist. The current android version is very limited and acts and looks completely different than the PC version. And it appears that the android version is not going to get better as the last update was over 2 years ago.
Compare this to Wunderlist, which is not even close in features to Swift To-Do on the PC, but moving from the PC version of Wunderlist to the android version is so very easy as it looks and works the same.
So if you just need an advanced list manager on your PC, this is one of the best. But if your real life involves time away from you PC and you'd like to have your lists with you, I think you will be very disappointed.

1) There are now hard limits. The practical limits depend on your computer. But generally people have been storing gigabytes of data in Swift To-Do List.

2) Yes, you can use our Secure Cloud to sync a Swift To-Do List database between computers and share it with other people to collaborate.

3) I am not sure about the Emeditor workflow. You'd need to test it but I don't think it's gonna be ideal.

Hello. The ALT key is used to activate the ribbon (Word-like toolbar) KeyTips. This is a standard behaviour when a ribbon is used for a toolbar.

Does the ALT+C shortcut work in Word/Excel?

Hello. You can share a database through our Secure Cloud. It's a sync-based solution but our cloud does a very good job in auto-resolving conflicts based on many advanced criteria.

When you purchase a new license, you get 1 year of free updates, upgrades, priority support, and cloud features. After 1 year, you can renew your license to get another year of full benefits. The license renewal costs the same as a new license.

M_R Having bought STDL in v10 some time ago (April '17), can you tell me, where to download the last version, which I can use with my license (, as I understand this is v10.307)?

It's a little irritating, that my license does not allow to download the next version (v10.310), which changes are (except for a tiny window-size-improvement) only fixes. Or am I licensed for all v10.x-versions?

Nevertheless I'*m thinking about buying v11 today. Since, today no upgrade-option is available - and have not found upgrade-prices anyway (are there discounted upgrade purchases?), am I allowed to give away, i.e. tranfer my old license?

Dextronet Hi @Michael.

You can download the last version supported by your license (10.307) here:

http://www.dextronet.com/...o-list/all

When you buy or renew a license, you get 1 year of updates included. Then you can extend (renew) the Swift To-Do List benefit, or keep the license you have as it is yours to keep forever with the latest supported version.

We don't have a special upgrade option for license renewals, so this offer is the best one. License is issued on your name (or your company name), but we don't have a problem with what you asked as long as only one user is using this single-user license at a time.

"Right Alt+letter" is a standard way to enter Polish and some other foreign language letters since early Windows versions. It works flawlessly in ALL other Windows applications regardless it has the ribbon or not. I have never had any problems with applications with ribbon toolbar: MS Office or any other exotic apps that I use in my job.

Is there a way to disable the ribbon activation by the ALT key in ToDoList and enable the standard use of RightAlt+letter?

I will not be able to use the software if I'm not able to enter letters that I use in my language. I'm afraid this applies to most Polish users, unfortunately.

Dextronet Hello @Mariusz. I was talking about this issue with our devs and we should be able to ship a new version soon with an option to disable the KeyTip behaviour. The devs also hope to come up with a better solution so that both things can work together (characters typed with the ALT key, and ribbon shortcuts).

styrobrain @Dextronet, I just noticed that Swift To-Do List now cloud-syncs and comes in only one catch-all version (although "Ultimate" still appears in this offer) that is licensed per user. Now I'm interested!

I'm somewhat irritated by your emphasis on the ever-growing number of icons that come with Swift To-Do List. If a user needs 2000 of them prepared to make a confident choice, I may sympathize with that user's aesthetic sensitivity, but in task management matters that user and I don't belong to the same target audience. (Still no user-defined icons, hm...?)

What I cannot figure out here or on your website is: what does cloud synchronization cost from year 2 on?

Red Microuser cannot download Swift To Do file: it is prohibited by a prog called "WATCH-GUARD" and I cannot find a way to kill WATCHGUARD. I own a previous copy of Swift To Do and I like it and know it is ok. Would like to buy todays BdJ but cant get a download of the file to due to it being 'blocked'. Does anyone else have this same problem today? Is there a solution? Thanks.

Dextronet Hello @styrobrain. Thank you for your feedback! It's correct that we have simplified our offering and we offer a single edition which compares to the former Ultimate edition. With every purchase, you receive 1 year of access to free updates, upgrades, priority support, and cloud sync + backup. After 1 year, you can either keep your current Swift To-Do List version or renew your license. The standard price for a renewal is $99. But you can also purchase a new license instead of a renewal and I am sure there will be another BDJ offering next year as well.

styrobrain @Dextronet, thanks for your response. If I understand correctly, there is no way to continuously enjoy cloud sync without buying a new license or license renewal every year. Then that's why I could not find it.

I was expecting to find a pricing model similar to MyLifeOrganized, for which cloud sync is sold separately, starts at 13 US$ per year and, if my math is correct, makes a huge difference pretty quickly: for a Windows license with uninterrupted cloud sync, minimal list-priced TCO over the first 5 years for MyLifeOrganized Pro is 70 US$ + 5 x 13 US$ = 145 US$, for Swift To-Do List it is 5 x 99 US$ = 495 US$, roughly a 3:10 disadvantage. An 'optimistic BdJ scenario' would still be 5 x 49.50 US$ = 247 US$ (3:5). I'd be happy to see your offering becoming a little bit more inviting in this regard.

A huge (even cost-worthy) advantage of Swift To-Do List might be its Web interface. It seems I'll have to try Swift To-Do List for that feature alone, since I cannot find any screenshots of it. Which I'd like to see change.

There are two 'data idioms' I rely on a lot: nested / hierarchical contexts and task dependencies, both explicit and by position in the task tree. Does Swift To-Do List (does or will) have support for them? I cannot tell from the website.

Dextronet Hi Stephen. Thank you for your question. I understand your concern. We've been working hard on the inner parts of the program this year. We are basically rewriting a greater portion of its code to create a new foundation for future development. Once we are done, we'll ship features more easily and faster.

It would help me make a decision on this offer or waiting it out.

Thanks to everyone in advance!

Nelson Carvalho In response to questioning 'geo user', I use Swift To-Do List for years. I have never had any problems with the product, neither in quantity and quality of features nor in performance. Support works correctly. The company is constantly updating the product with new features and any fixes. The only thing I've been charging from the company is the Swift To-Do List translation capability. I also understand that upgrading could cost less. There are other good products with similar profile that could also be recommended, some even free. The decision to purchase depends on the features you want and the security of support. Given my experience with Swift To-Do List, I recommend it.

geo User @Nelson Carvalho. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply..
If I can ask you the following. When you use the application is it something you keep running in the background throughout your computing activity and if so do you see that it takes some CPU/RAM even though you may not actively interacting with it? I have found other apps that I tried out, to load CPU/RAM unnecessarily and that kind of kills the usability of those apps in some cases if used on lower spec machines. I would like to have the same app used in all my machines and some of those are older lower spec machines that are used for special purposes/applications. One key indicator would be what the task manager reports for the running app for CPU and RAM especially after say 48 to 72 hrs of continued ON time. Some apps seem to use/reserve RAM for no reason, with time ON. That's what I have found out with other ones that I tried out. And some even get slow once you load them up with lots of data. Another concern would be the reliability of the database used. I had a really bad experience with another app of this type that caused me a lot of grief.
So, these are some of the things that other users may have experience with, and it only comes after long term usage of the software.
Thanks again.

Nelson Carvalho Geo User,
My CPU has intel i7 processor, I use Windows Pro 64bits.
Swift To-Do List occupies less than 1% of the processor and memory usage ranges from 315mb to 355mb. I clearly understood your concern. It's true and I don't know if the problem occurs with the Swift To-Do List.. I don't keep it charged all the time. After completing the entries I make in the program, I close it. It is important, as with any other system, to keep a backup of your data. I usually keep more than one backup. I use an extra program which is Genie Timeline Professional, which will be on offer here soon. Highly recommended.
