Catherine McClarey I currently have Advanced System Cleaner from IOBit (might have been a GOTD freebie a few months ago), and it does a good job, but . . . the automated daily "scrubbings" do interfere a bit with whatever else I'm doing. I'm always looking for something which will clear out the junk and the bugs, and make my computer boot up and run faster - and free is a very good price point, indeed!

Steven Martins Thank you everyone for the comments about System Cleaner.

During the giveaway we will try our best to reply to comments and questions posted here and via our online support page but please keep in mind that, depending on the volume of questions received, there may be some delays on getting back to everyone.

Additionally, we have added a "How would you improve System Cleaner" widget to system cleaner's overview page, http://www.systemcleaner.com (you need to scroll to the mid of the page to see it). We would love to hear you feedback on how to further improve System Cleaner.

Hope you enjoy using System Cleaner!

Steven Martins @CodeDog Please download the latest version, we had an issue with some registration keys and released an update yesterday that fixes this issue.

You can update to the latest version using the Live Update utility which comes with System Cleaner 6 or manually download and install the latest version from:

While I get the appeal of CCleaner for being free (although they are pushing more and more to paid options - just visit the download page for CCleaner on Piriform), you cannot even compare both products since they are on completely different categories. While CCleaner cleans temporary and browser files and comes with a basic registry cleaner, System Cleaner (and other PC Optimization products) include so much more features like Security Optimization, Disk Defragmentation, Registry Defragmentation, Check for Disks Errors, Optimize internet settings, Automatic PC Maintenance as well as an array of handy Utilities.

_*_ Steven Martins, what is the price after two years to keep a license current?
Let's say I purchased the bundle you have for $39.00 of System Cleaner and Total Privacy what would be the future cost?

One other thing, I do not see this offer on your purchase page, but I did on install of the program.

Could you post a direct link to the offer please?

CodeDog @Steven, thanks for the quick reply. I downloaded another copy from your link and installed it, but am still getting the same message. Also tried to go through the checkout process again to get a new key, but it tells me I already have it.

After that I tried using the program's update option, but it says I have the latest.

Did a complete uninstall (using Revo) and reinstall and same thing.

Phil Tobin Am always wary of cleaners other than CCleaner and jvPowerTools. CCleaner isn't aggressive and jvPowerTools has been around so long, I've had it for over a decade. I wouldn't touch anything from IObit with a barge-pole, but that's just me.

I'm never that comfortable with registry cleaning because what one developer thinks is a valid case for cleaning, another developer doesn't. It's possible that as many computers have been wrecked through cleaning / optimization as by anything else.

That said, I'm taking advantage of today's offer (a) because it intrigues me and (b) because this is no fast-buck developer from China masquerading behind fake US locations and fake offices. Pointstone has provenance, and has earned its good reputation through years of hard work.

I'm really looking forward to trying out System Cleaner, and at least I don't have the nagging anxieties where this developer is concerned that I have with so many, many others in this software sector.

Thanks BDJ and thanks, Pointstone.

1) Pricing to renew your upgrade protection in case you decide to purchase a regular license with 1 year of free upgrades and updates is currently $13.95 to renew for another year.
Also, once licensed the software never expires, even if the upgrade protection expires you can continue using it, only if you wish to continuing receiving updates and upgrades do you need to renew the upgrade protection. This only applies to purchased licenses, this giveaway licenses are only valid for version 6, they do not include free upgrade protection to newer versions.

2) The page with the special offer price is:
http://www.pointstone.com.../purchase/

3) The program makes backups of all changes made to the system. You can restore changes using Rescue Manager, there a button on the top right side of the main interface named "Restore" which allows to restore any changes made (including Registry changes).

Steven Martins @Phil Tobin

System Cleaner has been around since 1997 (15 years).

System Cleaner 6 was a major rewrite from System Cleaner 5 (it took over a year of full time development), so we are still ironing out some isolated issues (nothing that threatens your system - all changes made by System Cleaner can be easily undone if needed). It does provide a solid base for versions 7 and newer as we already have a planned roadmap to release 2-3 major versions within a year.

CodeDog Steven, thanks again for the quick reply. Have submitted a ticket.

And thanks for all the info listed above. I've been using these types of utilities since Norton Utilities hit the street in 1982, but had never heard of System Cleaner till now. And I've looked at a lot of utilities over the years. Looking forward to checking it out...

_*_ Steven Martins, This is from the FAQ area of your site (next to the last FAQ) why I asked about 2 year upgrades not 1 year.

"Upon ordering a Pointstone product, you will be entitled to two years of upgrades and updates. Update Wizard will make sure that you are provided with the latest updates for your Pointstone software.

Please note that once your upgrade and update period expires (after two years), you will need to renew your account to continue receiving updates to your product and to receive technical support."

I am looking for clarity.

Thanks

Pippa Pearson I have installed the program on Windows 7 32 bit with no problem, however when I click the part to register it keeps taking me to the page to buy the Upgraded version!!! Therefore I have not been able to register this generous giveaway and when I run a scan, it brings up lots of errors then I get a message saying it has encountered an error and it closes down - help?

Tom Man I think it might be really good program, but in my computer the function "disk errors" (or "fragmented disks") causes crashing the program! I do not know if "access violation" made by antyvirus should be one reason, but the professional program cannot behave like this!
Nevertheless I am going to try this on and see after restart (is it necessary to properly functioning?) and after a few days. I believe people who does the program knows how important to the customer is not to crash - it is the most annoying "bonus" and many people might do not give it the second try.

I think my opinion might be helpful to the producer. Thanks for giving it to us for testing!

Catherine McClarey I got System Cleaner 6 installed & unlocked OK; however, when I attempt to run Scan & Repair, it crashes during the Fragmented Disk portion (after finding 500+ errors in that portion alone, including several index errors), without completing the scan or repairing anything. After this happened for 2 or 3 Scan & Repair attempts in a row, I enabled all of the Automatic Maintenance tasks, so that at least System Cleaner 6 can work that way; however, I would still like to be able to run Scan & Repair manually. (I've also submitted a tech support ticket on this on the publisher's website.)

We have changed this with the release of System Cleaner 6 but I would like to extend this offer to anyone who wishes to purchase the full version, just contact us and mention this giveaway and we'll extend your updates and upgrades protection to 2 years from the date of purchase.

Richard Foster Registration went fine but I use a 3G Modem on a cellular network for Internet access and only connect when necessary because of
high data costs. If I am not connected and I start System Cleaner it shows a 14 day trial message. If I connect to the net and start System Cleaner again it shows as registered to me. So it seems that in order to use this software you have to be on line. Was this the intention or is the a Registration bug?

Ralph Bressler My suggestion and recommendation would be to make the program work correctly. It crashes in the disk defrag section on one of my external USB drives. It gets to a particular file and then just sits there. I can't use the program if it won't complete the scan.

I was reluctant to try this program because of the negative reviews here on Bits. Since it was free today I thought I had nothing to lose.
I downloaded and installed the program. It crashed the first time, so I entered the serial number and tried again. I tried running the program again and it still crashed. I keep getting the message "Integrator has stopped working" .
Maybe Bits should pull this program until an updated version to fix the problem as Steven Martins mentioned earlier.

I have already use Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove this broken program from my computer.

Steven Martins @Joe McCormick

System Cleaner 6 was released in March this year and we have thousands of registered users using it daily without problems. Unfortunately it seems that only the small percentage of users with problems are posting here. But rest assured that it's our top priority to fix this issue and provide everyone with an updated version.

Some users have reported that disabling the "Security Optimizer" and "Disk Errors" categories prevents the issue from appearing so for those who are having this issue..

Also, in addition to the integrated scan and repair feature that some users are having issues with, we have over 20 utilities available on the "Utilities" tab which can be used to analyze and optimize your PC.

Lisa Griffiths I did not see it listed any where, but does your software have the following capability:

PROGRAM DEACTIVATOR.

Reduces the impact of installed programs to a minimum. Programs get active only if the user really requires them and automatically turns off selected programs when you don't need them

This has to do with programs running in the background. I am looking at info from another tune-up utility and I find this intriguing and something that could be quite beneficial.

oops, actually it has to do with services running in the background that aren't needed until you actually use the program.

Steven Martins @Lisa Griffiths

Thank you for your feedback. System Cleaner 6 does not currently have a "program deactivator" feature, but we will research it and add such feature in the future.

CodeDog Just wanted to note that Steven was very responsive about taking care of my registration issue, and I'm sure he's having a busy day.

I also don't seem to be having the problems noted in many of the comments here. The program is working quite well after an initial run-through of most of the utilities. And though it's missing one small feature I'd like to see, I have to say it's a pretty complete tool set for system maintenance. It also has a great interface for all utilities that I find very user friendly.

Thanks, Steven (and BDJ) for the chance to check it out...

You said that we only need to be online when activating the software (entering our name and registration key and press OK), after that there's no need to be online to use System Cleaner.

The problem is, System Cleaner always revert back into TRIAL whenever I run it w/o internet connection.
Of course it's become licensed again if I go online first before run it.
Try to install it on 2 PC (WinXP & Vista), same result.

This is really not good idea...

Kevin Snyder I think I'm going to bail out... I uninstalled with Revo, rebooted, and reinstalled. It accepted my original license. Good! Then I checked for updates and installed 6.61d (6.6.1.152). The app shows registered but when I try to do a registry "repair" under Tools/Registry Maintenance/Repair... it tells me that feature is available when registered.. If I click "I already have a license code" it won't accept my registration. When I go back to the main app page it shows I'm registered. Interestingly I can run registry repair from "Scan and Repair" but not from "Tools". Also the "padlock" icon that appears in trial mode is nowhere on my Tools page, yet many of the features are inaccessible.

Looked like a useful assembly of utilities, but I've spent far more time trying to make it work than I can afford. For a program that has been around since 1997, this is unexpected complexity.

Fi sh Funny...

I'm running version 6.1.1.150 (04.08.2012). When I restart program or check for updates, it detects available version 6.1.1.152 (05.08.2012) and prompts me to download and install this. Yet, having Update Wizard/LiveUpdate allowed unrestricted Internet access -- and even if I fully disable my firewall (which I know is not good) -- the expected update still remains "blocked".

Restarting the program reverts it to "evaluation", and I'd be lucky if I get to activate it again following 10-20 attempts. In the 2 occasions I've seen this succeed, the main interface says it's licensed in my name, yet the GUI status bar states to the effect that there's 14 days left of the trial period.

While in such "trial" (yes, again) mode, I can't clean any of the checked items -- not until System Cleaner gets activated with the key I have (starting the circle all over again) or I buy a license.

After well over a year of heavy usage, I just realized that my desktop (Windows 7 x64 Pro, AMD Phenom II x6 Thuban, 6GB RAM) is probably one of a small percentage of PC configurations that can have a problem with any software installation and registration whatsoever. I only found this out today!

By the way, need I ask for version 6.1.1.152's offline installer download link?

Thanks much.

Matt Hi Steven,

Thank you for letting us test your software.

Here are my test results:

PC 1: Windows 7 (64-bit): Integrator has stopped working
PC 2: Windows Vista (32-bit): Integrator has stopped working
PC 3: Windows Vista (32-bit): Integrator has stopped working

You said "a small percentage of users getting issues when running Integrator"... I'm at 3 for 3 (100%) here.

I'm surprised by several things:

- System Cleaner window doesn't 'maximize'. Scrolling through the results is very tedious.

- System Cleaner 6 released on March 14, 2012 and it is already at version 6.6xx.

- System Integrator (the opening interface) doesn’t work even at version 6.6xx. That should have been fixed before the initial release.

- "...we already have a planned roadmap to release 2-3 major versions within a year." It seems like version 6 is an unfinished product and your already planning on versions 7, 8 and 9 within a year.

- The several bugs I've come across in the short time I've tested it.

Steven, I do realize that you are offering System Cleaner for free, but I can't help thinking that we all here at BDJ are just your 'beta' testers.

Thank you.

CodeDog When I got that message I submitted a trouble ticket, and they resolved the issue for me in a very short time.

I also have to believe that the problems listed above are happening on a limited number of systems, or there would be a lot more people here complaining. IMHO

I'm running Win 7 32bit, with ESET security. Program installed on two machines. I've done automatic updates from the Help menu on both systems and they're still registered.

All the program modules I've tried (most of them) have worked fine.

It would seem that the problems must be related to individual system configurations. Not that that's not a problem that needs to be addressed, but generally what you see with something like this is that comments are most often from the people having problems, whereas the people who don't have any problems rarely leave a comment, so we don't know how many people are happy with it.

I'd have to think there would be hundreds - if not thousands - of people taking advantage of this free offer today. Surely if they were all having problems at least a good percentage would be posting here.

Hopefully Pointstone will figure out what's causing the problems in these instances and come up with a solution, but again, works fine for me...

ddalian Steven,
I am having the same issue as @Lang510 and @George Avery. I also get an access violation and it says I am out of memory and need to shut down other windows even though none are open. When the access violation dialog box opens it continues to open more copies of the box until the lower half of the screen is filled, then the program shuts down and all the boxes close. I have tried to run the program several times and each time I get a different count on the number of issues I have with each area. The first attempt said I had 1654 problems with the registry, the 2nd said 87 and the last was 1326. It never got past the 2nd step in the in the CHKDSK index operation. There was also an update that removed the key and reverted the software to the trial version.

Jason Howard Please - remove the restriction on resizing the main window size.

I have a 3840 x 1080 desktop - I've no idea why the developers feel the need to penalise all users as if they were working inside an 800 x 600 desktop (especially when the typical output won't even fit inside that sized window - requiring column resizing and scrolling up and down, left and right).

Sure use the small window as a starting default - but allow the user to enlarge the window if desired, and then remember those settings (and column widths) for future sessions.

If there is no reason why it would be impossible to enlarge a window and make the interface more usable - don't enforce such arbitrary restrictions on your users. It is just poor design (and lazy coding).

The 6.6.1.153 update has solved the registration issue.

Kevin Snyder @Fi sh... the "update fix" which has now crippled features is still incomplete. If I open the app on Scan & Repair and select all options the app still crashes. I have to de-select both Security Optimizer and Fragmented Disks to run without crashing.

FWIW I can run Disk Errors on the Utilities tab, so you might try that. Under Utilities, you can also see what Security Optimizer checks, but unfortunately this "free" version is incapable of running that option.

@Devs... there are 2 typos in the Repair Wizard listing under Display Issues. Also some topics in Repair Wizard end with a period ".", but most don't.

Under Utilities I checked the Defrag option Do not show SSDs. It has no effect. Closed and reopened app, and it scanned my SSD and recommended that 2 of its partitions be defragged. What's with that.

It's unusual for a version 6 app to perform like a beta. But that's what we have. You fixed the registration (I think) but now that I'm just starting to use the app it seems as many functions still need much work. This is an ambitious app. If it worked I'd drop IObit's and Glary's utilities. Can't wait for version 7.

The version that was given away yesterday *is* the "retail" version that is sold on our web site. There are no differences whatsoever. You can download from there and use your giveaway serial number.

Integrator.exe is just the name of the main System Cleaner executable (the one that opens when you click the System Cleaner shortcut). It has no connection to Glary Utilities other than the same executable name.

Phil Tobin Just my two cents' worth: I agree with Wendi Holman (thanks, Wendi!) Despite every good intention, yesterday's offer does seem to have been affected by gremlins. I'm now in the position of having downloaded the first version offered, then the second version offered -- yet now I see that there's yet another, albeit that this latest version is, unfortunately, a kind of crippleware which surely was never the developer's original intention s.

I have the license code but I'm *not *going to install and activate (or rather, not going to undertake yet *another* download for the same software -- which this time, doesn't even have the features that were promised originally.)

No-one's blaming the developer, and definitely not BDJ. Glitches happen. But seriously: this was not exactly a classic one-day promotion, and the mean-minded might say it has done more harm than good to the reputation of a long established developer in whom, by virtue of the very nature of this software, there needs to repose maximum confidence and trust..

So-ooo. . . could not a re-run be arranged in a few weeks from now? Meantime, I'll soldier on with the equally long-established and dependable jvPowerTools from Macecraft.

All users who took advantage of the giveaway ran yesterday will receive free updates for the life of System Cleaner version 6.

We believe we found and fixed the Security Optimizer issue but the disk errors issue is turning to be much more difficult to debug. We've ran a number of tests on all our test machines and have been unable to reproduce it. We have contacted the users who had this issue to see if they can provide more details about their machine configuration.

I'll keep everyone updated once we release a fix by posting a message here and replying individually to those who contacted us directly.

Phil Tobin My post crossed with Steven's, nobody's fault: an accident of timing. If as Steven says, it's now the case that the third version for download addresses all the hiccoughs inherent in the two earlier versions, and delivers all the features as prospecrtive users understand them to be, then no, there's no need for a re-run.

Guess I'll just have to mosey over to the developer's website and get version number 3 then.

Catherine McClarey My copy is now updated to the latest version. I wouldn't mind the Automatic Maintenance so much if it were just doing all the daily stuff once per day; however, it seems to be automatically running scans multiple times per day (not finding any problems, not fixing any problems, not failing to fix any problems - all of which are different results from what I get when I run a scan manually). It's getting rather annoying!

System Cleaner 6 will receive a few more updates during this month. We plan on releasing version 7 on September. Version 7 is build around the current version 6 with a few more features and improvements.

I'm also wondering how trustworthy version 6 will be with
registry cleaning and other tasks when there is already
so many superficial problems being discovered.

These problems are exactly that, superficial. I'll explain in more detail tomorrow why they happened but suffice to say, they have nothing to do with the scan engine of System Cleaner, only with the display of issues found.

Catherine McClarey Steven, thanks for addressing my concerns! I thought I had the Automatic Maintenance intervals set at the defaults (noon local time daily for most things, weekly for the rest); however, System Care has been doing things on its own at other times as well. These automatic scans usually show 0 issues found/0 issues removed/0 issues failed to be removed as well - which may indicate that the problematic Security Optimizer and Disk Errors sections are still enabled for automatic scans, even after updating to 6.6.1.153.

I do like the idea of "run automatic maintenance only when computer is idle," though - it's very annoying when other utility programs interrupt other programs I'm using.

A few days before this giveaway we implemented a new problems found display window which showed more accurate details to the user about the problems found on your PC.
Unfortunately, because of a limitation of Windows itself, users who had a lot of PC problems (over 4000), would get a error message when finishing scanning for problems.

Please rest assured that this issue was restricted only to the results window that displayed problems found, there were no issues with the scan engine that finds problems on your PC.

You can update to the latest version either by using the update wizard from within the program or by downloading and installing from our web site at http://www.pointstone.com...r/download (no need to uninstall, just install it over the existing version).

Matt Hi Steven. Thank you for the latest update. The Integrator no longer fails on me, but I'm unable to 'Unlock' System Cleaner. Along with entering the Registration Key, I've tried entering my name, my email address, and both my name and email address. No matter what I try, I still get:

"Unable to validate license info..."

David Mc Integrator issue is fixed, but could you please someone explain me how come that program still finds 120 registry errors right after few seconds it fixes same number of registry errors. I have scanned my system about 10 times and this program still finds and "fixes" same number of errors every time.

Joe M David Mc. Very good question. I saw the same thing with Glary Utilities. It would supposedly clean the registry and the you could run the program the next and find the same registry errors.

Matt Hi Steven. Thank you for the new registration. I'm having the same problem as David Mc. System Cleaner finds 80-90 registry errors, fixes them, and then seconds later finds the same 80-90 errors. This happens no matter how many times you run the registry cleaner.

Steven Martins @David Mc, @J. Bell

I'm contacting you guys directly to see if you can help out figuring out why some of the registry errors are not all removed and show up again when doing a new scan.

David Mc it's very interesting that first time program found about 700 errors - fixed them all; seconds later it found 107 errors - fixed them all, and after that, program finds (and fixes) exactly 107 errors over and over... Looks like program can not constantly keep computer error free.

Steven Martins @David Mc

I've sent you an email yesterday, did you received it? We would really appreciate some more information about the 107 registry errors, specifically the category(ies) name(s) so that we can further investigate this issue.

Thank you for your time and patience.

David Mc Is it possible to maximize the window? I would take a snapshot of registry names and path. Otherwise i have no idea how to send it to you.

Renaud Duval Really this software is useless. Make this experiment yourself: try the "scan" at the software start, then repair as suggested. then try again; you will see that many errors remain, despite the info from System Cleaner that the errors have been suppressed.

ccleaner does the job much better and you really see the difference and it is free.

I would have loved to see system cleaner works. it has a nice design etc. but I don't trust the software any longer. I did not get any concrete answer when I informed the staff about that. They just told me they are trying to improve the software. But a software that tells you it has cleaned your registry and when you try to clean again the errors are still there, it is just a lie.

I have bought many great softwares from bitsdujour. This one is not.

Steven Martins Renaud apologies for the late reply, only noticed your message just now.

Are you sure you are using the latest version of System Cleaner? I've just did a Scan & Repair with the latest version 6.72, and all issues found were fixed.

Occasionally there may be some issues that are not fixed, because files and registry entries may be in use by Windows at the time of the scan. This is perfectly normal.
