disenchanted How does this compare with Aid4Mail by Fookes software?

They both seem to accomplish similar end goals. That being a valid email backup and ones ability to store the backup on their own computer if so desired.

Will you share the more details about the Fookes software for Yahoo backup. SysTools Yahoo Backup supporting to take backup of data in many file formats like PST, EML, MSG, and MBOX (20 + Application Support) on their own computer.

Sorry we are not much aware of the tool as you pointed.

Richard User I noticed that the vendor's website states that the user must have MS Outlook installed in order for this product to be able to save to the PST format.

Also from the website, it appears that the $49 license (discounted here to $24.50) is good for ONE Yahoo mail account. On the site, they sell a license for up to 10 Yahoo accounts for $20 more.

They don't say how or if they handle incremental backups.

I wasn't able to determine if the non-discounted license offers free version upgrades for any length of time. The BDJ version, as is often the case, can't be upgraded.

So, if you are thinking about Getting the Deal (which I am), be sure to check these things out if they are important to you. The vendor's site does have a Live Chat option which I haven't tried yet to get some of these questions answered.

Richard User I contacted Live Chat and got the answers I was looking for. Chat service was prompt at 11am US Central Time, and I really like it when support people give clear, direct answers, even when it's an answer I don't necessarily want to hear.

Here is the chat transcript. Good support speaks well for a company, and this was good support. I removed the agent's name only because I didn't ask for his OK to post it in a public forum.

Me: My other question is this: It appears that the $49 license allows the user to back up one Yahoo email account only, presumably as often as the user wants. Do I have that right: the $49 license is tied to a single Yahoo e-mail account and cannot be used to backup a different account later?

Agent: Yes
License is tagged with the name of accounts, so it can be reused with same accounts but not with new accounts.
Note: The licensing of this tool is based on the number of user accounts that need to Backup/Migrate, so you need to go with a appropriate number of user license that is best suited for you. For example: if you want to Backup/Migrate 200 users accounts then you will need to purchase 200 user account license.

That was the end of the chat. I ran out of room in the above post to say that my conclusion is that this is more of a migration tool than a backup tool. Nothing wrong with that, but the user needs to know what to expect from the product. I'm still considering a purchase. My interest was more in backing up my email, but with the way Yahoo is going, maybe migration isn't such a bad idea!

John User Hi!

I am interested in purchasing SysTools Yahoo Backup v1.2 for $22.54. I have two questions:

1) I have 2 Yahoo email accounts can I use the above program to backup both email accounts? I would I need to purchase 2 license(s)?

2) On SysTools website Yahoo Backup is version 3.1 would purchasing version 1.2 on BitsDuJour would I be able to use on SysTools website? Or would I have to then purchase an upgrade?

bvssunnydale Hi, I purchased this the last time it was on Bitsdujour and it was a little confusing to me. I set it up and attempted a backup of Yahoo! Mail but it got to about 64% and just stayed there (no error msgs or other indicators of status other than the percentage info. I left it alone for as long as 5 days, but no change. I re-started it but it stopped at the same percentage. My hard drive isn't nearly full so I know it couldn't be that it ran out of space. Any suggestions?
