Virus Scan for TBS Cover Editor

Alan Carr I tried the demo ages ago and then discovered they were going to release a version with a book cover as well. I tried to hold out but was too tempted! It's a VERY nice little application.

Happy to say when they released the book (and screenshots and other stuff) version I got a free upgrade anyway. If you want to see a live example see the main diet software boxshot on

http://www.biggly.com

I can happily recommend TBS. It does what it says, it does it very well and the company seems to have a good attitude, a support forum etc.

Two thumbs up :o)

Edwin Yip I like this program!

What differentiate it from the others is that it's an all-in-one solution while the others require you to have the ready-made pictures for the box surface.

spacingham "Transfer of a license to another owned computer not allowed." Does this mean that if I install on one computer then replace that computer I would have to buy the software again?

Eddie Tex Sounds like conflicting sentences on the "policy" info.

It states that this is licensed per user for non-concurrent use only. User based typically means you can install on multiple machines. Non-concurrent tells me that it's limited to your use and no one else (or as they say in business, "named user" as opposed to just any user).

That's fine and good, but then to say we can't transfer the license to another owned computer contradicts the statement that this is a user-based license.

Dennis Crane If you replace computer you may use the same license.
You may not use one license on both computers and you may not transfer license to another owner\person.

Eddie Tex So then this license is both machine-based AND user-based, meaning it can only be installed on one machine and can only be used by one user (even if that machine has multiple users)?

Sep 2 2011 at 8:12am Copy Link

Dennis Crane Either one PC with multiple users though no several instances of launched application are allowed OR several PCs with the same person user (e.g. PC+Laptop).

Eddie Tex Thanks for the clarification. I will certainly be interested in trying your product now.

I'd recommend you have the policy information for your product reworded here on Bits du Jour. The policy sounds very restrictive, when the truth is that it's actually quite reasonable.

You may use it on PC and Laptop if you are the only owner of both machines.

Susan Pichotta I am a website designer, specializing in software websites, and have used True Box Shot Cover Editor for every website I have worked on for the past few years. I've created DVD box shots, CD pics, DVD & CD labels with this software. It's fast and easy to use, produces professional results. It is one of my favorite tools.

I paid almost full price for this software and do not regret it. For $32, it's a steal. I highly recommend it.

Hi Dennis, many thanks for clarifying that a single owner can use the software on their PC and laptop.

Having looked at the feature matrix on your website it seems that TBS Cover Editor is missing one key feature of True BoxShot.

It seems that True BoxShot can have multiple objects in a single image but TBS Cover Editor can't.

I'd appreciate it if you'd confirm that this is in fact still the case with the version of TBS Cover Editor and if so, whether this limitation is likely to be removed any time soon.

Thanks

Michael K

Dennis Crane Yes. Scene with multiple objects like this http://www.trueboxshot.co...Output.jpg can be made in True Boxshot only.

I don't think this limitation will be removed soon. However side images made in TBS Cover Editor can be imported in True BoxShot and reused there for objects in a complex scene.

John Paradiso I have been using TBS Cover Editor since the last BDJ offer and I love it. Great piece of software and easy to use. I wish they would offer the True Box Shot deal as that allows you to add multiple objects in one scene and Cover Editor does not.

Chaim Krause I am interested to know if others are having trouble with Primus. Yesterday, purchasing a different piece of software, my "usual" credit card was "not working" after three attempts. I used an alternate credit card, and that finally worked. I have being using my "usual" credit card with Plimus for several years without incident. Today, attempting to purchase this software, again, my "usual" credit card was again not able to work. However, my alternate credit card is now also not working. I mention this here because I don't want others to miss out on the deal, or Indigo to miss out on sales, due to Plimus problems. Furthermore, both purchases showed the PayPal logo on the checkout web page, but it was not a payment option available in the dropdown for choosing how to pay.

Feb 9 2012 at 4:35am Copy Link

Chaim Krause I was able to purchase the software now by using a friend's credit card. But I triple checked, and the cards that didn't work are debit/check cards and they have more than sufficient funds to cover the purchase. I am wondering if Plimus is becoming like New Egg and credit card companies are putting Plimus on their black list. Purely speculation on my part, but I think a reasonable guess.

+++ Which brings up a point that I've been meaning to post about here to @BitsDuJour, How about having a second comment thread, say in a sidebar, for discussions of this nature that are timely and relevant to the day's purchase, but not specific to the software on special so the comments are not tied to the software?

Feb 9 2012 at 4:52am Copy Link

0

Dennis Crane Chaim,

Thanks for the order and sorry for the issue. It looks like Plimus is performing a kind of update in its payment processing system this winter. That's why one can experience some issues or delays with CC charging. I'm really sorry for the possible inconvenience however in most cases everything works flawlessly.

Toni McConnel I looked at the sample output images. I truly hate these angled perspectives that seem to be the current rage. Is it possible to change the perspective with your software? Can I do a straight-on frontal shot?

Feb 9 2012 at 7:08am Copy Link

Tomas Barth I understand that 1 license = 1 user. What I don´t understand is if I only can install it on one computer, or if I can use it on several computers. I live in 2 countries, and I have 2 computers in each country.

Feb 9 2012 at 8:07am Copy Link

John Paradiso @Toni, Yes you can change the angle of the cover. You can put it straight-on or angled the other way. You just grab the image and you can change the orientation, real easy.

Lee H Your policy states "Transfer to another owned computer is not allowed". What exactly does that mean? What happens if I upgrade my computer? If I cannot transfer the program to a new computer (which I do often), this a deal killer for me. Thanks for your response.

Dennis Crane @Lee H:
You may freely transfer it to your new computer. It means that concurrent use and sharing\selling the license to another person is not allowed.

Javier Gil Great to hear this deal is coming soon!
I've tested other cover editors for months -and on-line cover editors are so bad that they don't even deserve a mention- but this program is just on a different level altogether. The quality of the graphics, the speed of the program displaying changes to the 3D images, the export options, how easy it is to use...
I'm buying this.
