Everyone, today's discount coupon is used in the software vendor's existing shopping cart. due to the way that the vendor distributes registration codes we were unable to use our usual method. It's just a standard 100% off coupon today that you can use in their cart.

As always our deals are arranged exclusively with the software vendor, and we work hand-in-hand with them to get the deal set up.

Ralph Bressler I "bought" the offer and got the e-mail. I sent their sales department an e-mail asking for the code and assured them that I had in fact paid NOTHING just as their e-mail to me requested. I also pointed out that the link in the e-mail that states you may pay by credit card does not work. Only Paypal is accepted. This makes me seriously doubt the legitimacy of their offer or, at the very least, the competence of the people running the company.

This is the second giveaway in two days that has had major problems. Some of the free offers have been great but several have had too many problems to be worthwhile.

Aug 6 2012 at 5:28am Copy Link

0

Ralph Bressler Why hasn't the developer answered ANY of these questions? They also have not responded to my e-mail of several hours ago. It would seem to be within what would be considered Business hours in Portugal. Perhaps this is not a serious offer.

VLM If I may be so bold as to talk about the product itself ...

I'm trying to form a clear understanding of where this product fits within the larger set of tools one might use. There are calendar tools, time management tools, to-do lists, PIM/note taking tools, etc.

Would the vendor be willing to speak a bit about how to categorize this tool, and then within that context, what distinguishes it?

Thanks!

Aug 6 2012 at 7:02am Copy Link

0

Ralph Bressler I also would like to talk about the product if I could get the product delivered correctly. I think that would be a good first step. I watched the video and was interested enough to attempt to access the offer without any luck. I think the answer of who would use it and how is highly personal. I have not implemented any system for contacts other than my Thunderbird e-mail so I thought this might be nice.

Lee Price I'm sorry this offer is the most screwed 'freebie' I've ever encountered. It's ridiculous!

Thanks for the offer as always BitsDuJour; however, this is not only a pain in the @$$, it's the craziest thing I've ever seen. It cost nothing yet they want you to send a bank transfer for $0.00 or do the same with PayPal?

Anyway... as someone mentioned above, not only is this strange, it takes on the appearance of a scam! If it's free, why would they want or for that matter need any of your financial information. :/

With that said: thanks again BDJ for all the great deals and freebies you bring us. You rock! :D

Aug 6 2012 at 10:26am Copy Link

Lloyd Tennison I doubt it's a scam. Most do not know that Paypal will not process a zero balance. I have run into it before, with vendors that give a second license free - they just do not know because Paypal does not say it anywhere.

But if you think about it, why would they process a free order and how would they get their percentage of zero for processing the order....

ricoh flex After jumping through the hoops and doing somersaults in the complicated process to get a serial key, received an email.
Upon opening it, there was a demand for money to be paid through Paypal before they will send you any serial key or software to download.

Although the software company may eventually be able to sort out the problems raised by many people here in the Comments section, I think i will just forget it.

There will be more worthy software offered by other software companies in the future in BitsDuJour.

Stuart K You would think that companies would be very careful to make sure everything goes smoothly during a giveaway. Otherwise, rather than generating good will, they do the opposite.

Mark Latimer I tried to get the free license from the company as required using the code. The site brings me to a site to enter the code, then to a page asking what country (I am from the USA). The next page asks for name, company and email. The next page asks how I am paying for the free license with PayPal being the only option. I clicked on the continue button on the bottom and was put back on the opening page.

I received an email from the company stating that the transaction was not complete, to click on the provided link which took me to PayPal. I signed into my account and was told that the price was $10.00. What Gives!!!

Please have this problem fixed.

Thank you in advance for your service and support.

Phil Tobin Not being ungrateful or anything, but the features listed on the developer's website for the Lite version hardly make that version worth $24 retail.

And nothing at all justifies the developer's ridiculous expectation that everyone should have a PayPal account so as to get that Lite version today free of charge. Or not free of charge. Or never get it at all, judging by comments posted here so far.

The developer really should wake up and learn how to master international commerce, because the Lite version could -- possibly -- have been an up-sell to the more expensive, and better featured, Pro. As it is, there's no chance of any up-sell because the hoopla expected of prospective customers is self-evidently not worth the hassle. (And paying 1 cent or 1 Euro on Paypal is definitely *not* recommended, even if you happen to have a PayPal account.)

What really stuffs it for this developer is that it is following on in the wake of yesterday's glitch with System Cleaner, in regard to which that developer's representative devoted a considerable amount of time to answering queries, addressing problems, and responding to complaints. Today's developer has thus far said absolutely nothing here, leaving BDJ to clear up the mess.

On which basis, it's yet another big thank you to BDJ. But to a developer who can't even be bothered to come on here with some words of guidance / clarification, no thanks are due at all.

Phil Tobin One of the reasons why good Internet sites become great Internet sites is apparent in Roger's post above. BDJ has an enviable record of (a) playing fair and (b) being open and honest and (c) dealing with problems as and when they arise.

No-one, and certainly no corporate entity, can buy goodwill. It has to be earned. BDJ consistently does just that. Hopefully, word-of-mouth (even in this electronic age!) will continue to help BDJ build on its reputation as one of the best and most dependable resources around.

ivansword *small rant re: ethic* not trolling; however, this is accurate and applicable in situations similar to this, in any business. - I have to agree with Ralph's post (6 above this), though I'm more interested holistically at how this is handled by the software company in question. I too have send payment validation, twice; however, it's not about the penny I sent, nor the thought of getting software for a great deal. I'm actually more interested in whether the company will follow through, the outreach methods, the level of correspondence, and simply if a reply is received, or a static acknowledgment is posted or distributed. They can keep their software, as my personal faith in the company has already deteriorated. I do not need my hand held nor do i need any touchy fee-lie sentiments... though a simple HTTP post acknowledging the error would suffice, certainly this would be a more conducive method of communicating to all involved, that an oversight occurred while facilitating this deal, and that they are addressing this and will post more soon (or something relative to this affect). Bitsdujour, has easily demonstrated their functional capacity, acknowledging and shortly thereafter removing the deal, mingling and commiserating with its supporters in the posts above. Id say that's more than adequate, and effectively communicates a high degree of genuine intent. It will be interesting to see if this is handled with integrity or is reciprocated in return by the software company; this situation is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their commitment, values, ethic(s), and overall concern for their customer base; whereas, holistically the companies image is in essence in question by a number of legit customers. Every software company out there will tell you that they are good, that they are reliable, that they work hard, etc, etc..... It means nothing anymore, validate it, show me how or why this is the case, demonstrate with actions, something measurable or quantifiable. Respectfully, the person, or company behind you... well, they will.... This is exactly the kind of situation that will set them apart, or hold them back; this is how character is established, and you cant buy character....

Ed Baxter I received license also and refund of my 0.01c from Paypal. For those of you 'whining' about what a 'BAD' company TeList must be, all I can say is 'you're WRONG'. Whenever offers are made that involve 'freebies' many steps have to be considered in order to 'circumvent' the companies normal method of receiving payment. In this case the Company uses Paypal (which is a very SMART idea as it gives them and you much better protection from fraud etc., but obviouly TeList did not know that Paypal can't process 0.00 'payment's. So it's NOT TeLists problem entirely!

I hope everyone else who make 0.01 payments got licenses and similar refunds and can now go on to using the fine software!!!!

Brian H Hi- Wanted to thank the developer for the free deal, and also add my suggestions for improvement- because I do feel it is a nice product and has a future! I have to agree with previous posters that there should at least be an import/export feature (especially for popular email & contact management applications like "Microsoft Outlook". However, I would take the suggestion a step further and suggest automatic "synching" of contact info. with programs like "Outlook". To me, this would take the program to a whole new level of functionality and value. Hope the developer will consider this for future program updates. ITMT, thanks again to the developer for a very generous (FREE!) program here on BDJ. :-) -Brian

Mary Wilson I downloaded this to try and really like it and thought about purchasing the pro version. Only reason I will not do it due to the fact that I can not inport anything from outlook. Currently all of my contacts are in outlook and it is not worth the time and energy to retype and than keep the system up-todate manually. I will keep the basic program in the hopes that you will be getting this in the near future. Still, I did enjoy trying it out.

Tortuga @Sandro
Was unable to find the changelog page on your site. Can you please provide a link
Is the version here 6.0.25 from January.2012 ?
Do you plan to continue development or has it stopped?
Thank you

Rodney Henderson The rigmarole to download it is a pain & yes I know it's free & I appreciate that, but make it simple to download. Go back to click the link & straight forward download. get rid of these Like on face book & these where you get taken to multiple pages. This way you will make it more appealing to the less computer oriented public.

Peter S I finally got to the License page (which includes my new registration details)

BUT ... the File DOWNLOAD isn't working for me:

QUOTE 2. Download and install the activation version. Download the activation version of Telist in the following link:
http://www.telist.net/In*****/Te****6***.*** END QUOTE
(Obviously I have put asterisks in place of the correct letters and numbers for security reasons)

I have tried putting the complete file download url into a browser as well as using FlashGet file downloader and neither are working for me. However the Download Trial link at the top of this BitsDuJour page is working. CURIOUS

Can you please advise if I'm doing something incorrectly, OR, is the actual file link DOWN, OR, are the registration file download details incorrect?

Chang Oh I downloaded the application last night (about 12:30 am) and the program appeared to work.
I started my laptop tonight (about 10 pm) and weird thing happened.
Telist Lite 6 tried to install it all over again and froze up my laptop.
I uninstalled the application immediately..

Please explain why this happened.

Unless I hear valid reason why this happened, I will not use this application again.

Jan Fisher I am trying to order this software and am typing in 100 percent in the promotion code, after clicking on the 100 free icon. I also click on Telist Lite 6 and every time I get an error message stating it is an invalid code. Can you please send screen prints to janfisher5

gmail.com? Thanks!

cyanic @Rodney: The way this particular offer has been set up probably has something to do with how its activation system works. Though still, the download could be provided here. As for the Facebook stuff, take that up with BDJ.

cyanic Something's happened to Telist.net domains, and non of their servers by IP are accessible. That prevents activation, and possibly even the program actually running properly. Sandro, care to explain?

Sandro Marques Hello Li Yukai, we had problems on servers for a few hours, but now everything is fine.
It only prevents the activation and programs can work properly without our server running ... we do not control our users. Thanks for your concern.

cyanic @Sandro Thanks for the reply. I thought the domains have gone down for good. Anyway, when I enter my key, the program accepts it, but reverts back to trial when it restarts. Do I have to run in Admin mode?

Sandro Marques Hello Yukai Li, yes, you showld run in admin mode.
