Jon Spain Is the version shown (1.04) correct? I have 3.8.5 from Jul 2021 but the vendor's website doesn't show anything about versions.

Tim Parsons A couple of questions:

Does it support keyboard-based navigation (like, activate with a hotkey and navigate to the appropriate page of clips without having to use the mouse?

Can it password-protect the clips database -- allowing it also to be used as a password store with some security?

Can it preserve text formatting, or does it always paste plaintext?

Al Baran Hello and thanks for your interest! When the textBEAST window is in focus, keyboard shortcuts can be used to navigate the libraries and pages.

There is password protection and can be accessed with the Tools menu: Password Protect.

The clips are saved in plain text and will match the formatting of the target window when exported, but formatting can be added with the built-in "DocumentBox" word processor before exporting.

Al Baran Hello Jon and thank you for the question. Yes, the version is correct. Please note that this is SpeedyClipboard+, which is different from the original Speedy Clipboard, so it has separate version numbering. Speedy Clipboard+ includes the features of Speedy Clipboard and adds the DocumentBox word processor, color coding of text containers, and short custom labels for text clips, allowing brief descriptive naming of long clips, rather than just showing the first few words.

Hourglass94 I want to test this out but when I install and try to run it I get the message: Please reinstall textBEAST. Necessary files are missing.

I tried running as a administrator and that fails too.

Al Baran On some computers, Windows security settings may be preventing the software from creating a necessary folder called "ASBware" in the current user's "Documents" folder. If you are getting the "Please reinstall textBeast. Necessary files are missing." message, your computer may have "Controlled Folder Access" activated, and this will need to be temporarily disabled on the first run of textBEAST. As per Microsoft:
"Occasionally, an app that is safe to use will be identified as harmful. This happens because Microsoft wants to keep you safe and will sometimes err on the side of caution; however, this might interfere with how you normally use your PC. You can add an app to the list of safe or allowed apps to prevent them from being blocked."

Al Baran We have confirmed from users that the problem has indeed been resolved without any special action taken, other than downloading and installing the updated version.

The fix is automatic and does not involve any changes to Windows settings.
