Al Baran Hi Gary, thanks for your interest! With the paid version, each data file has 10 libraries (accessed through the Library menu), each with 9 pages (the buttons on the bottom of the interface), and each page has 20 text clips (the textboxes).

You can create an unlimited number of data files, so the capacity is endless. We have found that this structure allows an organized and manageable "tree" with meaningful quick access to stored clips without having to perform a search.

HJ User This promotion is for "textBEAST Speedy Clipboard". However, when I go to download the software, I am given two choices:

1. textBEAST PRO Clipboard + Image + Capture

2. textBEAST Clipboard Manager +

Neither of these has the word "Speedy" in it. Similarly, no prices are shown.

The Asbware site refers to only one product - "textBEAST Speedy Clipboard".

Please provide an explanation of the difference between the two download options and the offered software.

L. D. User As the Fine Print states that this is licenced per user, and NOT per computer... may I please get an answer to the following question.

Can this program be installed on ALL of my personally owned PCs?

I live alone so I am the sole user of all my PCs and I own FIVE Desktop computers, as well as ONE Windows 10 Laptop.

Will purchasing a license for this program enable me to install this on all of these?

Al Baran Hi Drew,

Thank you for your interest in textBEAST!

You can install textBEAST on as many computers as you wish, but it can only be actively registered on 2 at any time. You could deactivate and activate registration as needed (it's a pretty quick process, using the migrate function, in the Tools menu).

However, a better solution for you may be to create a portable version (Tools menu: Make Portable textBEAST), which runs from a USB stick/drive without having to install on each host computer. You just need to install on one computer and then create the portable version on the USB. This way, all your data is accessible from any machine.

Thanks for your interest in textBEAST and for your comments!

I'll answer your questions:

1. There is no automated 2-way data sync. However, you can set up a portable textBEAST on a USB stick/drive (on the purchased version: Tools menu: Make Portable textBEAST). This will run from the USB device on any Windows PC without having to install the software on the host machine, and your data is available anywhere you are are working. It works very well, and I use this myself.

2. The shortcuts work only through textBEAST...but a handy way to keep it readily available is to just roll it up/down by double-clicking the title bar at the top of the application window. It will remain on top of any other running program, out of the way but available for quick access.

3. Regarding the date stamp, you may have discovered that right-clicking the "Enter" button gives you the option of pasting the date for today/tomorrow/yesterday. For our next release, we can add date formatting to the Options menu, to include your preferred format.

HJ User I see from one of the responses that there is some kind of a date stamp function. Is there also a date and time function or a time function?

Is it possible to include a current date macro within a clip, so that when that clip is pasted it will include whatever the current date or date-time is.

Yes, there are date and time stamp functions:

Date is pasted by right-clicking the ENTER button.
Time is pasted by right-clicking the TAB button.

The automatic date/time stamp when pasting a clip it a great idea, and we will add it as an option to the next release! If you purchase, we can also add it as a custom request in the very near future. How would you like the date/time to appear? Under the pasted text or in parenthesis right after? Would you want this as an option when pasting each clip, or as a general option that can be activated from the options menu?

Stephen Kreyling I did not see it listed, but this is the pro version, which includes the USB option. I was looking at the older comments and it might be a good idea to have somewhere in the text say that this is for the pro version with USB ability.

I only saw this by clicking the buy button. You might be more sales to be on this page to let people know, not all go to the buy page to see options.

Al Baran Hi HJB, each license can be registered on 2 separate computers, but a license can be "migrated" to another computer. This requires a simple and quick process of unregistering the license using the Tools menu: Migrate/Reinstall (in the paid version), and then re-registering on the other computer. This can be done without uninstalling.

Al Baran Also, you are correct, there is a lot of functionality within textBEAST. Since most people do not like reading manuals, textBEAST uses a very simple alternative: the Help function explains how to use any item you place your mouse cursor over (for menus, it requires a click). Just click on the Help menu and then "Help!" to try this out.

As for formatting, we decided that storing clips in plain text would be the most versatile approach, so that each clip will match the target document's formatting at the insertion point.

it is not clear to me if the software has the capability to dump into a file clipboard contents as they are sequentially clipped.
In other words, I clip 150 pcs of text through out my research on a topic.
Can these be saved automatically, or do I have manually to do this for every 20 clippings?

Al Baran Hi Geo User, if you need to collect 150 clips at a time (or more), you could easily transfer them 20 at a time from the "AutoClipboard" (accessed by clicking the "CLIP" button at the bottom) to other pages.

Copying items in other windows by using a keyboard shortcut (ctrl+c) or right-click and copy, will automatically place them into the AutoClipboard, with a capacity of 20 clips in the paid ("Pro") version. After that, the first clip copied is deleted to make room for a new one.

To transfer these to other pages, you would click the "Organizer" function (#1 of the right-hand set of 3 buttons on the top, with a folder icon), and then use the Page Copy button with a right-click, to move them and clear the AutoClipboard.

Perry DeJesus Hello,

O.K. Don't Know Where To Start On This One. I Am a licensed owner Of Textbeast for awhile. It Is a great software addition and works great. Now Here is my concern. I have a license for Textbeast 3.84, i wanted to update to version
3.85 This update should be free since it is within the same version 3 release if I'm correct. I downloaded the update as instructed closed out version 3.84 and installed the update. The update did not install the version 3.85 but it installed a trial version of version 4.13. So thinking this is a newer version i purchased your promotion here and I find that i received a download link for version 3.85 what was supposed to be a free upgrade. Can you please clarify what i am purchasing here? I already paid for version 3.85 which should been free. Can you send me a code and link please for version 4 or refund me for purchasing an update that should have been free? Please help to resolve asap.

Al Baran Hello Perry, thank you for your comments! You are correct, version 3.8.5 is indeed free if you already have 3.8.4. For the free update, please click the Help menu on your current version 3.8.4, and then "Check For Update" to obtain the new file.

Al Baran Hi Geo User, thanks for your interest in textBEAST! The trial versions for both Speedy Clipboard and SmartTemplates allow 30 uses before expiring.

For Speedy Clipboard, the trial version also has only 1 functional page with 20 textboxes. The paid version has the capability to create unlimited data files, each containing 10 libraries, each library containing 9 pages, and each page containing 20 textboxes. That's 1800 text clips per file, within a framework that allows you to organize them for rapid access, as needed.

The trial version of SmartTemplates does not allow the export of documents generated, and only allows the user to work within the included text editor.

Al Baran That wording is indeed too technical! Here's the translation:

Online activation is required. For personal use, each license can be activated on 2 computers and can be re-used as many times as you wish, as long as it is registered on no more than 2 computers at any time. Each license can be unregistered before uninstalling and reinstalling onto another computer, allowing it to be re-used.

I had the TRIAL installed. The warning that you must uninstall it FIRST, and download the pro version was inadequate. Place it in capitals on the fist line of the instructions.

The recommendation to uninstall the trial version before installing the paid version was intended simply as an extra precaution and to prevent any confusion, since the icons are the same, even though they are labeled differently.

Al Aymer I'm confused. Does this promo include BOTH textBEAST Speedy Clipboard AND textBEAST SmartTemplates for the SAME price or are they priced individually?

Al Baran Hello Al, sorry for the confusion, I'll clarify! Each is priced individually, but the BDJ50 coupon can be used for any of our products, including Speedy Clipboard, Speedy Clipboard+, and SmartTemplates.

Peter User About the portable version:
Do I have to install the software first and then export to USB or is it a separate ZIP file I can copy to my external USB drive.?
Can I use the portable version on the internal drive?
Can I test the portable version?

Al Baran Hi Peter, the USB version setup requires you to first install the program onto your computer, and then using the Tools menu, click on "Make Portable textBEAST."

The portable version can also work on the computer's internal drive, if you copy the USB files.

The portable version is currently only available on the paid version, but works exactly the same way. Once activated, it will function on any computer without installing any files onto it, running entirely from the USB drive.

Robert Crombie I have a clipboard pgm I wrote using VB6.
My question relates to the portable option/version of your pgm, which I will be unable to test (because your download of the trial does not allow me to test this).
I use 2 PCs W8.1 and W11 all Pro versions.
I have a great Note taking pgm (RightNote Pro) but I am fairly sure I cannot do what your pgm offers (run from USB).
I am in Aust, and I finally managed to get my PCs to see (access) a thumb drive in the Telstra modem. (Anyone wishing to try the same, will find that Telstra does not know how to do that. In a free call to their support).
Perusing the screen shots of your pgm, it occurred to me that I could use your pgm for storing/sharing notes between the two PCs.
Essential to that is me testing your pgm in the USB plugged into my modem.
How can I test this ?
