Frank Stephens The video above is lengthy but a very useful description of Topaz B&W Effects 2. You can upgrade to future versions at no charge. Here are the system requirements for Topaz software:

LU Are all of your products supported with a free upgrade policy for life such as this one or is this a special purchase option.

Also, does this software require any other products to run successfully or is it independent to your other products?

Thank you

Jan-Christoph Ihrens What exactly makes Topaz B&W Effects "the most technologically advanced black and white conversion software on the market today"? I'm using Nik Silver Efex 2, and while Topaz B&W Effects looks quite nice, I'm not able to see a technological lead of it compared to the Nik plugin (especially when I take into account Nik's U Point technology). What is it that could make me switch to Topaz B&W Effects in order to keep pace with the times?

I'm not trying to be negative - I bought the Topaz Photoshop Bundle about two years ago -, but if you advertise your tool with such a claim, I guess you can explain it to me, and I might consider switching to your plugin.

Thanks in advance! :)

Ashley Robinson @Lifetime Upgrades Yes all of our products have a free upgrade policy for life. B&W Effects is a plug-in, so you do need a host program such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture, iPhoto, or PaintShop Pro.

@Jan-Christoph Nik Silver Efex 2 is also a great program and the U Point technology is definitely a nice feature to have. The main difference with our program is that we use more sophisticated algorithms that produce higher quality images and we also have 200 presets that simulate historical printing processes. :)

Jan-Christoph Ihrens @Ashley Robinson: Thank you very much for your quick reply! Although I don't have much time today, I'll give it a try - because of the higher image quality you claimed for your product, not the presets. ;-) And because Google took over Nik and nobody knows what this will bring... :-/

Sarsfield All of the Topaz plug-ins are exceptional, imho. I purchased the suite when they first came out and have been very happy with all of them. However, I would have to say that this price does not seem to be a "deal" at all. I hope that Topaz would look at this pricing and offer a true deal the next time around so that more bitsters could take advantage of a real deal.

Jan-Christoph Ihrens 40% off is no deal? Well, the Engineers, Programmers etc. are working hard to create these programs, and they have to be paid, not to forget the other costs a company has. Why should they give away their products for free?

I can understand that you'd like to pay less, but please think of the people offering the deal before demanding an even lower price - they have to earn a living, too.

Sarsfield I tried to compliment your product and you take offense at my suggestion. Well, I'm sorry. 40% off what? Your inflated retail price? 40% off means nothing when nobody pays retail. Retail is for suckers and most Bitsters are not suckers. Nice product but overpriced for this venue, imho. Have a nice day.

Jan-Christoph Ihrens My product??? Sorry, I think you must have mistaken me for somebody else. I'm not the vendor of this product, just another BDJ customer... ;-)

Apart from that, I prefer quality and companies that still exist more than a few years from now, so I don't think that getting things cheaper and cheaper and cheaper is something that is always desirable. Companies need money to be able to produce high-quality products.

Frank Stephens I have to speak up. Topaz produces excellent products at a typical price point for what they do. Discounts are often available, but 40% is an exceptional discount. Freebie-hunters don't promote software development, and as we've seen, often can't even read. I like to see quality products from quality companies (although the Topaz website could still stand considerable improvement).

Jan-Christoph Ihrens @Frank Stephens: Thanks for supporting my point of view, but there's no need to get personal... ;-) Many people just don't think about the connections between quality, continuity and money.

I've seen too many great projects die over the years to not support the ones that deserve it. I even donate voluntary to some Open Source projects now and then - I guess that makes me a "sucker" in Sarsfield's eyes... ;-)
