#1: No. The TBS Cover Editor will be likely promoted as another deal later this year.

#2: The minor updates (e.g. 1.x) are free. The major updates MAY be paid for those who have ordered more then 12 months ago.

Could not really give an opinion as it doesn't allow you to alter text.

Seems to be nothing more than a scalable advert

TrueBoxShot renders 3d pictures out of a set of 2D images (box sides). No text editing is evolved. What text did you wish to alter?

You may either purchase this version here, on BDJ for $22 or upgrade via our website http://www.trueboxshot.co..._V1Upgrade for $25.
So, on BDJ you will even save additional $3.

Fred Schall So, when is this deal going to be available for $22?? It said it is NOW.....but asked if I want it for $25 by going to another web site to purchase. What's going on?????

Will I be able to upgrade when I purchase for $22 on BDJ??? Is this a tease?? A bait and switch deal??? I am ready NOW to purchase for $22.00 ..... This is quite confusing.

Jan-Christoph Ihrens Doesn't the Bundle exist anymore? I can see it mentioned in the feature matrix, and there's even an order button on the German version of the website (that doesn't seem to work), but not on the English version.

Sep 3 2011 at 1:46pm Copy Link

0

Dennis Crane It was bundle of True BoxShot + True Boxshot plug-in for Photoshop. We do not offer this bundle anymore as plug-in isn't very stable with latest versions of Photoshop and requires improvement.

Jan-Christoph Ihrens Thank you very much for your reply. Maybe you'd like to eliminate it from http://www.trueboxshot.com/de/order, then. ;-)

It's difficult to decide which version to take. Overall the TBS Cover Editor offers more options, but I like True BoxShot's multiple objects feature... And no, I won't buy both now. ;-)

Randy Martin I'm confused as to the difference between TBS and TBS Cover Editor. If I wanted ONE to create box shots, which one would I choose and why/why not?

Thanks

Sep 3 2011 at 2:10pm Copy Link

0

Dennis Crane @Randy
Here is the comparison of both products:
http://www.trueboxshot.com/FeatureMatrix

In short:
TBS Cover Editor allows creating 3d covers from scratch as it has built in 2d editor with shapes, templates, 2D effects.

True BoxShot doesn't have 2d editor. So, you must create 2d images of sides in another image editing software and then load it into TBS for rendering 3D model. Also, True BoxShot allows to create scenes of multiple objects.

If you already have images of sides then you may choose True BoxShot. In TBS Cover Editor you may create design from scratch.

Indigo Byte Systems, LLC - Sep 3 2011 at 2:21pm Copy Link

0

Jan-Christoph Ihrens Did you try any of the programs?

I prefer TBS Cover Editor because

- it's a standalone editor (in TBS you can only import existing images and attach colors). If you like, you can import images in TBS Cover editor, too.
- it brings some nice templates with it.
- it offers some more objects (opened DVD case etc.).

One thing I miss in TBS Cover Editor is, as I mentioned above, the possibility to combine several objects in one scene (e. g. a CD in front of a box).

Sep 3 2011 at 2:23pm Copy Link

0

Randy Martin To use a flat rendering of front and sides I HAVE to use TBS Cover Editor only?

Sep 3 2011 at 2:27pm Copy Link

0

Dennis Crane TBS Cover Editor has a built-in 2D editor. So you need not e.g. Photoshop to draw your side images.
I recommend you to install software and check its features.

Indigo Byte Systems, LLC - Sep 3 2011 at 2:37pm Copy Link

Jun 1 2012 at 6:22am Copy Link

TBS Cover Editor includes several dozens of cover templates.
I'd recommend you to install the products and test them in trial mode.

@DrTeeth & Yabatopia: You may use this offer for TBS Cover Editor also. $22 price is for True BoxShot Standalone only.

Kelly Major Oh, a couple of quick questions. Can you explain this from the policy comments on this page:

"Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed."

If I replace my computer, I can't install and register the software on it? It says it is licensed by user so I assumed that would mean I can install and register the software on my desktop and laptop.

Can you please clarify this for me?

Thanks! - KEM

Jun 3 2012 at 9:29am Copy Link

0

Dennis Crane DrTeeth & Kelly - Thanks to BDJ team who agreed to add TBS Cover Editor to this promo. Most of our customers use both these products, as combo. So, it's important to include the second application in this deal as well.

Kelly - If you replace the computer then you may reuse the same license as there is no concurrent use.
For desktop and laptop you need different licenses.

Indigo Byte Systems, LLC - Jun 3 2012 at 10:06am Copy Link

0

Kelly Major Dennis:

Thanks for the clarification on the licensing. Just a suggestion I would like to see you review your policy on this I think many users like to have their software on both their desktop and laptop without purchasing 2 licenses. It's not being used concurrently but by the same user. "True BoxShot is licensed per user".

It is handy but not a big deal for me so I'll just install on my workstation.

Sorry to keep asking question but now I'm confused about this:

"Most of our customers use both these products, as combo"

The product matrix seems to show that Cover Editor includes all of the features of True Boxshot. Can you clarify this for me? If I need to purchase TB as well I'd like to get that done today. :)

FOLLOW-UP: Just noticed the one little * missing from CL. It is "Multiple objects in a single scene". I'm not exactly sure what that means just yet but it sounds like I better grab TB today.

Thanks! - KEM

Jun 3 2012 at 10:53am Copy Link

0

Dennis Crane True BoxShot Standalone can render scenes of multiple shapes while TBS Cover Editor cannot do this.
Look at the screenshot of TBS, the first picture shows that there are several shapes on one scene - box, dvd, book, and you can add even more objects to this scene and to arrange them as you wish.

Indigo Byte Systems, LLC - Jun 3 2012 at 11:10am Copy Link

0

Dennis Crane TBS Cover Editor is good for creating separate covers from scratch in 2D designer and to render them one-be-one.
TBS standalone is good for rendering complex scenes out of several objects with design made by TBS Cover Editor.

Kelly Major I purchased CF earlier thinking that would get me all features. My fault I should have researched the products more carefully. I just took a quick look at the feature matrix and I did miss the one *.

Please advise.

I currently use and enjoy TBS Cover Editor and Dr Explain from this company and find them both useful and powerful.

Because Indigo Byte makes Dr Explain and understands help files, their help files are useful and very easy to follow.

Nigel Brewster I like the idea of this and I would certainly find it helpful if it does what I want, however I downloaded and you can't see what you are doing for a huge big trial version stuck across it, what's the point of that?

Also can you not add from your own pictures? It doesn't seem so on the trial version, I can't really see the point of a trial version if you can't use some of the fundamentals.

CodeDog A couple questions/observations.

I purchased TBS in the past, and today's deal prompted me to check the website to see what the upgrade policy is. However, I couldn't find any options for upgrading from a prior version (version 1.8). Is there an upgrade option?

Also, it doesn't seem that TBS has been updated in quite a while. Is it still in active development?

And lastly, the section in the Fine Print that always bothers me is "Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed.". I always wonder, then, if I'm out of luck if I have to upgrade/replace my computer system.

I do l like the program, and have used it quite often in the past. Just wondered if you could answer the above questions.

Thanks...
