Ultra Recall is a personal information and document management app that gives you the power to manage all of your data, regardless of its source or location, in one centralized spot. With Ultra Recall, you never need to remember which application holds your data -- all of it is instantly available on demand, no matter where it's located.

What kinds of data are we talking about? How about all of your Microsoft Office files, all of your Outlook messages, appointments, contacts, and notes, any email program that supports the .eml format, websites bookmarked in all of the major internet browsers, and every file on your hard disk, including ZIP archives? Even images, text, online documents, and clipboard data can be fully organized into an on-demand database with Ultra Recall! Populating Ultra Recall is ultra-easy - just drag and drop, copy and paste, or enter your information manually.

When it's time to retrieve all of the information that you need on a topic, just enter your search term into the Quick or Advanced Search, and Ultra Recall will display all of your matching items. Quick Search retrieves a list of matching items in a flash, or use the more detailed Advanced Search to pull information out of the database with surgical precision using logical operators! Each of your data items comes with an attributes list that tells you everything you need to know about that file.

Finding your data is just the first step. Everything that you need to view, organize, and work with your data is neatly contained in Ultra Recall. Use the integrated web browser to view your bookmarked sites, or the rich text editor to open text files. Images display in the image viewer, and the native email message viewer, contact editor, and form viewer round out the arsenal of convenient features. Of course, you can always elect to open web pages and documents in their associated application, but with such robust integration, you may never need to leave the program!

Bruno User Is global search-and-replace for strings in the item titles, and/or strings in the item text contents, now (really) planned for v.6? (According to UR forum, it had been planned in 2006; I also have own content, not only from websites and the like, so I need such functionality.) Thank you!

Wearsie Jackson Wonderful software! But it is still actively being developed? Looks like quite a long span between releases. Thanks - Weerz
Mar 4 at 12:33am Copy Link
Experience @Wearsie.. They release updates for Ultra Recall quite frequent actually, I use Website-Watcher to not miss any.. I would say every two weeks or so or at least one time a month.. Ultra Recall is more updated than many other programs that I have so yes it's actively developed

Libor User UR is excellent sw, the best in its field - for creating a personal information database or know-base. But a note with updates is appropriate. I also feel like it's been a little rough lately. New versions bring few changes and take a very long time to release. Even the company website is a sad sight, many years unchanged. I can recommend UR, but I pray that the development continues because I do not know an adequate replacement and I have searched for and tried many programs.

MSWallack Am I correct that this is a full professional version? I ask because I have a pro license for v5 and the upgrade from v5 to v6 appears to be more than the license being offered here today.

Peter Hi, I try to import items from MyInfo to UltraRecall (in the way explained in your forum, with a rtf-file). In general it works fine, but there is the following problem:
- Using the portable version of UltraRecall, the fonts are shown correctly but various formatting details are lost (e.g. tables are destroyed, line spacing is wrong etc.).
- Using the installer version, formatting is correct, but the fonts look a little bit weird (blurry?, too broad, perhpas it's the effect of differnt zoom level?).
I assume I would need the installer version (because I have internal links and according to the manual they are not supported by the portable version). So my main concern would be that the display of fonts in the installer version could be corrected. Is there some method to do it? Thanks.
PS: As I saw now it happens only with the 64-bit version of UltraRecall. With the 32-bit version fonts are displayed as they should.

Kinook Software, Inc. - Mar 5 at 3:10pm Copy Link
Peter O.k. thanks. That's a little bit much of work you require. I will see if I will have the time to do this all.
Perhaps the following image can help:
- First line: display of the fonts is correct
- Second and third line: display is not correct (lettes are too broad and/or big).

Anyway, in case that you read my above post before I added the PS: It happens only with the 64-bit edition of Ultra Recall. With the 32-bit edition the display is o.k. (My OS is Windows 10 Home, 64bit). Would it be a disadvantage (in functionality or whatever) to use the 32-bit edition?
Mar 5 at 3:21pm Copy Link
Kyle A Do you have a 4K (high DPI) monitor? UR tries to set the compatibility to System (Enhanced), but maybe that didn't take for your 64-bit installation?

Kinook Software, Inc. - Mar 5 at 3:51pm Copy Link
Peter I don't know which type of monitor I have. Surely nothing advanced as my computer is already quite old. I adjusted the DPI-Scaling for Ultra Recall in Windows (as I do with various other software too) in order to achieve a better display of the user interface in general. So the user interface itself looks fine. Also the fonts when copying/pasting from MS Word. The problem seems to be only when importing from MyInfo.

But there is anyway another problem: Documents from MyInfo are not correctly imported if they have greek letters as titles (and I have a lot of such documents). The importing procedure itself seems to work but afterwards the documents (their titles) are not displayed in the Data Explorer (nor can they be found by a search).

And somethine else (independent of importing from MyInfo or not): A simple alphabetical sorting of the titles in the Data Explorer is still not possible. Right?
Or at least the option is hidden in a way that it cannot be found.
That's a standard feature offered by most of similar programs.

So I fear that there are too many issues for the time being.
Mar 5 at 4:09pm Copy Link
Kyle A Can you send an example RTF file for both issues to Thanks.
Kinook Software, Inc. - Mar 5 at 5:02pm Copy Link
Peter As in about three hours the deal at BitsDuJour will end, I think that it does not make much sense. Even if the issues could be resolved, the three hours would be over.

But I can tell you one important detail I discovered by chance: The strange look of the fonts has to do with the character scaling: After importing from MyInfo it becomes 105% respectively sometimes 110% (instead of 100% as I have it in MS Word and in MyInfo)! Moreover line spacing often changes from 1.5 to Single. This issue can be fixed relatively easy by using the line spacing command of Ultra Recall. But for character scaling it seems that you do not even offer a command in the editor. So I have no idea how I could resolve this problem at least manually.

I think that in general Ultra Recall could be a good solution for me. But I fear that at the moment it has still too much flaws (at least for my needs). Perhaps the next time when you offer a deal at BitsDuJour at least some of them will be fixed. - Thanks for your replies.

lisba f @Peter - may I ask what's wrong with MyInfo? After you mentioned it above I tried it and seems to me surprisingly good (besides the price or course, so I hope BitsDuJour presents it here).

BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 6 at 12:11am Copy Link
Peter @lisba f:
My answer depends on the version:
- I still use the old version MyInfo 6 and I am quite satisfied with it. More or less the only (but important) thing I would like to have changed: a better, more comfortable and quicker search function plus filter. Exactly like you can find it in Ultra Recall.

- MyInfo 7 would also offer such possibilities as far as I have heard, but with this version there is indeed something completely wrong for me: The new user interface is simply unacceptable for my eyes. All is by far too bright, no contrasts, no colors, the characters therefore look completely different too (compared with MyInfo 6) and it is tiring to read them. MyInfo 7 is simply a huge pain for my eyes. - Especially from this point of view Ultra Recall is a relief: It is pleasant to look at it (as was MyInfo 6 too).
Mar 6 at 12:24am Copy Link
Michael User I'm missing the ability to create paragraph styles for formatting whole paragraphs as you can do in MyInfo7 or RightNote.
Mar 6 at 7:51am Copy Link
Peter @Kyle A:

- As the deal was extended there remain still a couple of hours. ;-) Therefore I sent you per e-mail the rtf-file you asked for (concerning formatting issues).

- The other issue I mentioned referring to the import from MyInfo does *not* exist: All imported items can be seen perfectly in the Tree (Data Explorer). It was my mistake as I did not take care to select the *first* item in the Data Explorer when doing the import. (Therefore the items "disappeared" somewhere as children instead of being added at siblings.) Sorry for my mistake.

- Another question which arose for me:
I am aware that I can create anchors with Ultra Recall but until now I do not understand the procedure. So please could you confirm that the anchors in Ultra Recall can be used in the following way:
-- I create an anchor somewhere in item X at the word blabla".
-- Afterwards I can create a hyperlink somewhere in item Y with target the word "blabla" in item X.
-- And I can also create a hyperlink somewhere in item X itself (usually on top) with target the word "blabla". (It would be important for me to link to anchors within the same document.)

- And finally a completely different question: The payment to you can be made only by credit card and not per PayPal. Right?

Thank you.

Kinook Software, Inc. - Mar 6 at 10:00am Copy Link
Michael User Thank you for the information, Kyle! But it's not the same:
To change the text style in Ultra Recall I always have to select the text and choose the format options I want to have for it - bold, underline and so on.
So three text phrases - three times to select and to choose.

I want predefined paragraph styles like in Microsoft Word:
I give a name to the style and only have to choose that style and a whole paragraph is changed.
Mar 6 at 10:53am Copy Link
Kyle A That's how it works in UR too.

To define a style, format your text size, bold, italics, etc., select Format | Style on the menu, name the style, click 'Add or update style from selected text' and OK.

To style a paragraph or any selected text with that style, choose the previously defined style in the Style drop-down on the Format toolbar (or Ctrl+Shift+Y keyboard shortcut to open the Style dialog, select the style, and click OK or press Enter).

If it is the former (all stored within Ultra Recall), it could become massive duplication.

Peter @ Kyle: Thanks for the link regarding Internal Link Anchors. I had already seen and studied this chapter in the Manual but it is completely unclear what is written there. I had tried a long time to create anchors based on these instructions, but in vain. That's the reason why I had asked if a certain functionality is possible with Ultra Recall (namely to "jump" with a link to an anchor either in another or in the same text item). Because if it is not, there would anyway be no necessity for me to learn how to create anchors. But unfortunately you did not answer this question.

Moreover I see that in your Forum you do not allow mail-adresses like hotmail, yahoo, gmail, live etc. But I have no "better" e-mail adress that I could use for registration. That means that after buying a licence I would not even have access to the Forum in order to get support there.

That's all by far too complicated for me. I give up.
Mar 6 at 4:23pm Copy Link
Kyle A Go to the place that you want to jump to, select Edit | Copy Link Anchor on the menu. Go to the place you want to insert the anchor link and press Ctrl+C or Edit | Paste. It will create a link that when clicked will take you to the anchor location in the other item.

For the forum, you can use something like, then request us to change the account email address to your real one (which can be hotmail, gmail, etc.).

geo User @Kyle A. Is it possible to download the user manual/help files for access as a stand alone option in order to view/read on a tablet for example or on a pc with a viewer other than the app itself ? And also I must say it is a great PIM product in my opinion after having tested other PIMs. Thanks.
Mar 6 at 5:21pm Copy Link
Peter @Kyle A.: Thanks for the information about Forum and anchors. Now I see how it works.

Allow me two remarks concerning the anchors:
1. They (or better: the links to the anchors) do not work completely precisely: Sometimes the jump goes to a point 2 or 3 lines below the line where the anchor was created, the next time perhaps one line above it and sometimes indeed to the correct line. Of course the target should always be exactly the line where the anchor was set.
PS: At the moment the "record" is even 6 lines below the "correct" one, whereas the initial jump still went to the line with the anchor. (Possibly there is a connection with the creation of additional anchors in some other lines above??)

2. A suggestion: When jumping to the line with the anchor, this line should always be the first (the uppermost) line in the editor window. (So it is e.g. in MyInfo.) At the moment it is somewhere in the middle of the window and so it is a little bit cumbersome to detect it (you have to look for the blinking cursor).

garrett james I bought version 4 ur and was disappointed, but decided to take the plunge again with version 6. Again i am dissapointed, there are no longer working addons for firefox type browsers. I am forced to use chrome or some variant to use the buttons, though there are no chrome addons when using microsoft edge even though it is a chrome variant.
I research a lot of webpages everyday and need a 1 or 2 click solution to copy info over to UR.. UR should add a simple html copy and paste because otherwise only text is pasted and the whole process takes many clicks and 30 to 60 seconds. As a comparison, allmynotes takes only a few seconds at most. I bought this a week or so ago and have only successfully copied a few webpages while i have copied nearly 1000 into all my notes.
Mar 20 at 9:48pm Copy Link
Kyle A UR 6 does include a Firefox extension

And the Chrome extension does also work with Chrome variants such as Edge.
