Brian H Hi- this program looks very interesting! I am concerned thought because when I went to search the net for independent reviews I found some user's on download.com complaining about bugs and memory issues- such as "It constantly runs out of memory, even on a WorkHorse PC, Dual core Pentium with 4 gb ram. Frustrating to say the least. Their Website or Help doesn't get you anywhere." And there was another review titled for "buggy"

That review was in 2009 for version "4.70". Has the program been updated to a more recent version, and has the apparent memory issue problems been addressed and fixed in the updates?

I just want some assurance from the software developer that things have improved before I purchase what looks like a really good, robust, full-featued program.

Thanks. -Brian

Mike Morozov First of all, there is a problem of processing a very large images.
I mean some images like 30,000 x 40,000 pixels or more. So in this case we can get a "out of memory" message in 32bit Windows OS. Most of the images are generally smaller and vectorized without any problems.

Since mentioned Vextractor v4.70 a many bugs were fixed and many features was added and improved.
And moreover, now we have a 64bit Windows version
(started at v5.50 and have a parallel development with 32bit ) which can process a huge images and
effectively use a 4-16 Gb.

Glen Hilton Hello Mike, this would be useful for some applications though it looks like BDJ users get the run out version. This deal would be more attractive if V6 was included considering it would cost another $50.00 in 2 months or so to upgrade.

MK For those who can't be bothered to download a trial...
* It will read in BMP, JPG, TIF, GIF, PCX, TGA, PNG, RAS, PBM, PGM, PPM, WBMP, ICO
* It will output to DXF, DXB, SHP, MIF, WMF, EMF, XYZ, SVG, EPS, AI, ILD, PLT, VFF.
For me, it's quite good for taking project drawings which are not in vector format and spitting them out into a DXF file for 3D CAD work or for playing around in SketchUp Pro.
I shall purchase when the deal comes around.

MK Oh - there's a 64 bit version too. Great.
Question for the developer - the latest version is 5.81 but the Older Comments say that v6 was due in February 2012. Is it in the pipeline?
And the Older Comments also say upgrade from v5.xx to v6 will be free for BDJ purchasers. Does this still stand?

Mike Morozov Vextractor not support the *.cdr format, but I think the SVG, AI and EPS is enough.

Daniel Black I downloaded the trial version and have been playing around. I have an image of a person against a white background that I want to convert to splines for import into my 3D program. I really just want the outline of the person. I created a DXF of the image, but it imported as a mesh rather than splines.

I cannot seem to find a way to simply create a spline outline. I will buy the product if there is a way to do this.

Apr 27 2012 at 7:53am Copy Link

Mike Morozov You may try output the splines to SVG, AI or EPS formats. Vextractor can't write splines to DXF...

BobWet I converted a JPG of the plans, for a large model airplane, into a vectorizd DXF. I opened the DXF with TurboCAD and the conversion was almost perfect, at least visually. When you do a major "Zoom In", you can see that some simple curves are represented by multiple polylines, and that closed figures are not usually closed when outputted by Vextractor. Having said this, I have to admit that I was amazed at how well this program works, better than ones costing much more $, so I am a definite buyer. Good Job!!

Stage One Good program. I bought the old version 4.xx , on here some years back. And just bought the newest version, now. It works quite nicely with Anime Studio, using center-line recognition.

The best raster to vector program I've found.

Chris I'm having trouble trying to purchase this. I get this with Chrome: Google Chrome's connection attempt to secure.element5.com was rejected. The website may be down, or your network may not be properly configured.

And Firefox is basically the same. Also, a website down site says it is down as well.

Constantin Florea @Chris - I tried this in Chrome, Firefox, Opera and IE and also tried a web proxy and it worked for me in all cases.

Perhaps it was a temporary issue.

Could you please clear your browser cache and try again? If the issue persists, please comment here and I will contact the vendor for help.

Chris @ Constantin ~ I can get there if I change my IP, but still get the error via my real IP. Unfortunately, I can't seem to place an order while using a different IP, It makes no sense as I was checking some old purchases with the processor site earlier.

Chris I got a reply from the vendor about the issue:

I am apologize for inconvenience, but I have get a message from Digital River processing service about some maintenance.
They have claim about "customers will still be able to place orders", but I see the problem exist..

He gave me an alternative link to purchase via another processor.
