Software Guy Avira immediately alerts to the Trojan (file dropper) TR/PSW.Prast.959 in the download file. So I downloaded the file again and it returned the same result. Examined the code and sure enough, it is dropping a hidden file. Developer, what is the file being dropped and why is it being delivered in a Trojan wrapper?

I don't know why this vendor seems to want to hide who they are.

I assume your response about checking the virus page means you feel the program had been thoroughly checked and is OK. Correct?

Sandro Perotti @ Donald Simmons Not sure of what you are saying. Let me be more specific: suppose I download in November 2013, may I install it in -say- January 2014 or later?

If that's NOT the case, I'd strongly suggest BdJ to be upfront and publish the name of the file in their sales page (before I enter my information to download it). Such transparency will avoid many frustrations and waste of time.

Software Guy BDJ, thanks for the update. I looked closely at the files and the current download does not show the trojan signature. The current download file size is 5,896,192 bytes. The older file that did show the signature was 5,895,680 bytes and does clearly show the trojan file.
BTW, I recently (last week) downloaded, tried and was very happy with Video to Picture Converter. It is convenient, easy to use and works well. We used it to convert .avi files from time lapse security cameras into a series of photos. It certainly worked nicely for our application - very useful utility.

Ron Cavin I've downloaded and installed, but I can't find anyplace to register this software.
Where do I put the registration info I received from Bits du Jour?!!?
There is no prompt to register, and looking under "help" on the product main screen takes me only to links to purchase other software!!!
I'm getting very frustrated with all the difficulties that seem to come up too frequently with registering these BduJ offers.

Constantin Florea @Ron Cavin - To register the application, please notice the document icon at the top right of the application window (near the Facebook icon). You need to click that document icon and there will be a context menu showing up. In that context menu please press "About" and then in the pop-up which appears, please press Register and there will be another window which will appear in which you can enter the registration name and registration code you've received in the receipt email.

Ron Cavin Re: My problem finding the registration link -- Never mind, I found where to register, but why did they have to make it so hard to find? It's a tiny icon next to a facebook icon on the top border. I don't do facebook or any social sites, so I ignore anything that's grouped with social site icons or links. The link needs to be labelled "menu" in plain sight, without having to click on it or mouse over it to find out what it is. If these free software offers are to help developers learn what users want or need, then this is a suggestion to make that Menu link plain and obvious so we can find it the first time..

Donald Simmonds @Sandro I was simply suggesting that if this software is modified in December and released as xxx-December 2013 then it could be said not to be the same product and thus no updates. I was being pedantic (and cautious, as commented) and suggesting that things may not be as generous as at first seems.
I find it difficult to comprehend somebody trying to sell software, coming up with a free offer to improve sales and then making it for life, in effect thus getting no future sales from those people. Anybody not getting this generous offer has no more reason to buy than they did previously. ??? So who is it aimed at and why. Perhaps the product will change as suggested so no updates, but by then you are hooked and buy the new product which is in effect an upgrade from this, but not free because it is not the same product.

Louis H First Question - Are there any specific differences between the Video to GIF App and the Video to GIF feature of the Video to Picture App?

Second Question - are there any plans to allow for more pinpoint Start and End timing with Video to Picture or Video to GIF? I would like to be able to manually enter the milliseconds rather than set the seconds and then have to click ahead frame by frame to pinpoint the specific start and end points. Right now I am able to set Hours:Minutes:Seconds 00:00:00 - for start and end. Might you consider adding Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Milliseconds 00:00:00:00?

Third Question - My previous free BDJ version is 3.9 and I could not find a change log on your website identifying what changes have occurred with V4. What has been added and/or improved?

John H Does a good job of up-sizing from 320 X 240 to 1080. Would have to use other up sizing software to get really great pictures. Good enough for culling details out of lectures that run too fast.

1) What is the différence between Video to Picture and Video to Gif, regarding the gif domain ?
2) Also, have you addresed the lack of possibility to use presets ? It is very bad that one has to manually recreate a set of conversion parameters each time the software is closed and re-open.

riad af I installed the software, but did not succeed to convert a16 min. AVI to pictures, it converts several minutes only.
I am missing anything ?
In all cases there are functions in this software that I did not find in a comparative (free) software + thanks for this giveaway.

Mike Shanahan Does Video to Picture Converter require online activation?
(Doesn’t say in the Fine Print section)
If so, how can I use it on my laptop computer which, for security purposes, has zero internet access? Not even a card in it. I’m interested but only if I can use it on my offline computer.

One other thing — is this free version the same exact thing as the software available on your site for $19.90 (on sale)? If not, what is the difference?

Walt Finnin I have a problem with the download function. When I go to download the program nothing happens. I then click on the selection to download if nothing happens and again nothing happens. Eventually, I receive the message that the program has been downloaded and I now have to buy the program. This has happened several times in the past 2-3 weeks on other program files. I'm using Win 10 (64K) with Chrome browser. Please help.

ken User This is the second software that I have tried to download from BitsDuJour recently. Both with the same problem; there appears to be a conflict with BitsDuJour and Chrome in downloading the files. I have since learned to use another browser to do the download. As Chrome is the de facto standard, BitDuJour needs to get their act together and fix the problem!

PS, if you try downloading too many times, you will never be able to download the software!

Indeed, when using Chrome issues arise, that's why we advise using another browse to download the product.

Ultimately, anyone (who let's us know that he/she has issues with the download) will always be able to download the installer even if they go over the 3 tries limit, this is because we are always watching the comments section, the forum and our feedback emails for issues with the download and give those issues the highest priority.

ken User I use Chrome, which is the de facto industry standard, to monitor several "freebie paid software" sites daily. BitsDuJour is the only site where there are issues with Chrome in downloading. Instead of suggesting the use of another browser, I suggest that BitsDuJour rectify the download issue.

David Mescheloff I've had the same problem described by Ken User several times in recent weeks. Once or twice i reported it here, but got no response and no solution. I just gave up on enjoying BDJ offers. But again I think Ken User is right that BDJ should find out how to solve this problem for Chrome users.

John Gregson Come on people, what do you think the DOWNLOADS folder on your computer is for? Look and you shall find.
Zip file opens easily and leaves you with an .exe file which loads perfectly.
App is drag and drop nothing easier.
As usual the free stuff from BDJ is always pretty good.

Richard User I don't get why it is so hard (at BDJ) to get a file D/L using Chrome.
On the dialog box that sez something about if it didn't D/L,
Right click on that and pick "save as". Can't give exact wording
as it refuses to let me D/L again.
