Brenda Adams Did you use one of your own products to do the demo videos of your desktop capture? The woman who did the vocals is really good, btw. A pleasure to listen to and follow. You also have an older video with no voice-over and I'm wondering same about it: what did you use to capture desktop action? Thanks for any info.

Leslie Bee Thanks for the feedback. We didn't use VideoClone for our video - we used Camtasia. We needed to be able to capture the VideoClone screen which we wouldn't have been able to do with VideoClone :).

Glad you liked it.

Jordan Dinga I'm a bit confused. I am interested in this product so I figured I would download the trial. Unfortunantly it appears that the trial does NOT install any of the promised software and instead installs various spyware and adware on your machine even after clicking decline and off on all the options. Hopefully when the product goes live there will be the proper download link that does not contain all this crap.

I was hoping to get to try it out early and see how it worked, but I guess that isn't an option with how the trial is set up.

Thanks so much for your comment. You are right there is a problem with the download link - which we will fix right away. Thank you for that.

Please stay tuned and thanks

Leslie Bee Hi Jordan -

Thanks so much for your comment. You are right there is a problem with the download link - which we will as soon as possible. As for the offers - we had thought some of them might be interesting to you - but if you click the big "decline" button nothing is meant to install on your PC. We will double check that as well. Thank you for that.

I will post and update as soon as I have one.

Daniel . Hi,

Juat a question

Transfer of a license to another owned computer is allowed.
Email license activation is required with a hardware footprint, and 5 installations per footprint. what's this?

Those first 2 point I understand, can move to a different computer and it requires activation.

You must instal/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards.

Now how does one reinstall the software or move it to a different computer at a later date? I feel that the policy needs to be cleaned up as your sending 2 different messages.

Leslie Bee Hi Daniel -

Sorry this is confusing.

Each license is good for one computer - so if you do decide you want to move VideoClone from one PC to another you just need to remove it from the one PC and then reinstall it on the new PC.

5 Installations per footprint just means you can use your activation code five time before the code won't work any more. But say your PC crashes a bunch and you have to reinstall the software more than five times and therefore use the activation code a bunch - you just need to write Customer Support and they will unlock your code after it locks up. Its an easy process.

Registering the software during the promotion - just means you need to activate the software during the promotion. So you will need to download VideoClone and use the registration code you receive to activate it.

Once it's activated you are all set - and if you need to move the program to a new PC down the road - you will be able to do so. No worries.

I hope that clarifies things. Sorry this was confusing.
Thanks for the questions.

internet explorer I think it was Bruce Springsteen who once sang "57 channels and nothing on" -- now if I could just figure out how to program my own channels with something that I actually want to watch live besides wall to wall Olympics and college football and the World Series and the NCAA basketball tournaments and maybe throw in the NFL Super Bowl... Everything else can be on "tape." Oh, well, maybe someday.

Leslie Milburn Firstly let me just say that I hate the fact that you do not allow us to download the actual installation file but that we have to go through an intermediate step first. This means that every time we have to download the damn thing - 5.3Megs every time. Given that it is such a small program I fail to see why this is needed.

Anyway, no problem because I examined the XML file and got the direct URL allowing me to save it - so all you achieved was to irritate a customer.

Ok, so overlooking that fact - I then installed it on a machine which has no internet connection, only to find out that it has to be activated. COME ON, you really need to cater for those of us with disconnected machines. Surely a confirmation/activation code via email would be good enough. Why I have to jump through yet another hoop astounds me.

So I have now installed in on a MACHINE that I did NOT WANT to install it on because of this stupid same day install window.

I am very much peeved over this and I feel that obviously you simply do not trust your customers and I seriously wonder if I will have any problems reinstalling this product at a later date.

As to using the program, well I am wondering how to get it off the machine it is currently installed on and onto a non-internet connected machine. STUPID STUPID STUPID !!!!!

Stephen Kreyling I aborted the installation due to malware bytes warnings, outpost pro security warnings and using revo to uninstall the entire thing. Before you get a copy and install the software, you really need to think about all the things being installed. If you dont have any malware or security software, you will never know all the stuff this software puts on your drive.

Leslie Bee Hi Leslie -

I am sorry that our installation process was annoying. We have always required an internet connection to verify activation. And since our products work with streaming video having an internet connection hasn't been an issue for our customer base in the past.

VideoClone was developed specifically to watch and capture streaming video. It is a program that requires an internet connection to be useful. I am not sure you will really get much enjoyment out of the program without an internet connection, however.

We do appreciate your feedback. Thank you for writing.

denis morrow I couldn't get Video Clone to work properly because my system was bogged down with toolbar, homepage hijack and other 'extras'. I just spent the last 90 mins cleaning out my registry using MalAwareBytes (30 entries found. hope I got everthing) and CCleaner to get rid of this rubbish. . Good job I declined these delightful 'extras' or my PC would really be a goner.
Surely, if you want people to pay for this software, you don't need underhand 'extras' installing with it. Sorry, but I uninstalled Video Clone and (hopefully) the unwelcome extras.

Leslie Milburn @Leslie Bee: I have set up my own LAN with a streaming server and I was hoping to use this product in that environment. For security purposes the main computer has no internet connection.

As an aside, I initially had trouble running this program as it kept telling me it was already running. This was because I had a Windows Explorer folder open with the name VideoClone.

As a developer myself I strongly suggest you look at using a mutex rather than searching for a process name because it is hardly foolproof.

Leslie Bee HI Scott Dott -

Thanks for your question. Yes VideoClone can capture Netflix videos that stream online. VideoClone can capture anything that streams on your PC - but VideoClone is a basic screen capture program - if you want to capture a movie and burn it to DVD to watch on a big screen TV then you would want to use a higher quality screen capture program like WM Capture :)

Diego SEO Hi,

I have just got the free key. Thanks a lot for this opportunity.

Look, I need to record live webinars and videos at membership sites that I'm subscribed. The videos are usually HD 720p or 1080p. I have purchased other tools but are too complex to configure just to get a video file or it simply do not work on the aforementioned kind of sites. So my questions are:

1) Would you briefly explain the differences between VideoCloner Plus VS WM Capture? I think that WM Capture is more suited to what I need but your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

2) Would you please consider adding WM Capture stand alone version to the current upgrade offer? I really don't need the rest of the tools.

3) I don't use to buy software licenses attached to a single computer but I would make an exception in this particular case considering the extraordinary discounts that you're offering to us.

All the best,
Diego

Brenda Gann Makes me doubt both All Alex Inc and BitsDuJour. I don't want software that thinks I want to install a bunch of add ons. If you think there are add ons that we might want, list them in your read me or a newsletter etc... don't expect users to opt out of them. Many users just click "next" "next" "finish" without actually reading anything. At least default them to off so people who don't read the screen won't be surprised by the extras and think your software is full of viruses.

I am shocked that neither All Alex or BitsDuJour tested this to find out that even if you choose not to install the add ons, it installs them anyway. I know it is now fixed but it is ridiculous that this was not checked.

Leslie Milburn @everyone: If you look at my first comment here you will see that I mentioned that I hated the intermediate setup thingy and that I bypassed it. Because of that, I never got offered the adware crap at all.

Also because the direct download simply works I can only theorize that the adware crap is INTENTIONAL otherwise why not just give us the direct link in the first place. Major reputation damage done here !!!!

For those who care here is the direct download link which I extracted from their XML file (note the wrap):
http://cdn.openfiles.info...oclone.exe

Please also note that it kept crashing for me and that I have now uninstalled it as I have been totally unimpressed. A very big thumbs down from me on this particular item.

For the record I do NOT see this as a BitsDuJour issue and commend them in trying to provide us with an excellent range of software.

Leslie Bee Hi Diego SEO -

Here are the answers to your questions:

1.) VideoClone Plus is meant to be a simple screen capture recorder - it is great for capturing lives streams but if you want to capture something with amazing quality and perhaps blow it up on a big screen TV then WM Capture is for you. If you are just needing to capture Webinars then VideoClone Plus may be all you need.

2.) If you want to upgrade to WM Capture from VideoClone just write to me at news-wmrecorderwmrecorder.com and I will issue you a coupon giving you credit for your VideoClone ownership.

I hope this helps
